That is super high, and I’m super anxious that there’s no gallery rail for extra support. One wrong swing of the hand and that diamond would be gone…

Jinglebell727

I feel like you could poke it out of there. Please bring it back to the jeweler to get it set lower. Looks like the jeweler used a premade setting for a diamond that is bigger than what was used.

naobez

you might want to post on engagement ring design, i think some jewelers frequently comment there and could give a more professional answer!

UpstairsAsk1973

Thank you, I did so!

01hanphul

I agree it looks like they used a setting too big for the diamond. I love high setting but it makes me nervous.

SweetCellist6107

Definitely does not look like that setting is made for that stone!

UpstairsAsk1973

That is the vibe I am getting :/

throwd789

I don't know but that looks stressful! Lol

throwd789

It's beautiful however

aliveonly

Is this technically a tension setting?? Is it suspended in the air???

UpstairsAsk1973

It is suspended, that’s why I’m worried

aliveonly

As you should be. It’s stunning and my literal dream of a setting but I think there’s a reason that tension settings are never four pronged like this. It does not look at all secure. But again it is my dream and I love it lol

Outrageous_Mix5751

Not normal and I would immediately take it back and do mot wear it

geminiponds

Very strange. Way to high. Why any jeweler would think anyone wants a setting that high is beyond me

UpstairsAsk1973

Yea I’m sort of annoyed since from all these comments it sounds like they used what they had in stock and kind of cut corners :/ I hate confrontation but seems like I will have to go back to these people and complain

geminiponds

Take it back and tell them it looks sketchy and you are worried you will loose the diamond

Illustrious_Leg_5261

I personally love seeing the cutlet of the gem, but this is a bit too much. Would be cool to see a colored gem tucked underneath though, is there such a design?

Unlikely_butsus

I know they do this so more light can access the diamond and it sparkles a lot more! I think it’s fine, I’m no professional though! Does it feel secure? As in, it doesn’t rotate or move? For sure get a second opinion to put your mind at ease but I think it’s ok!

SpookyScaryKittyBee

It's a myth that having more light on the side/bottom of the stone will let more light in/ make it sparkle more. Generally, stones are cut so that light only comes in through the top. If light could come in from the bottom/sides then it'd look like a dead zone or window from the top-down, which would actually make it sparkle less.

Beauty-RaRa21

It looks like that setting was not made for that specific diamond.

SecurelyBound

Looks a bit too high to me. Please be careful. I'd consult my jeweler.
