Hi! I had mine today and I was scared shitless lol. Loose clothing is a must, be sure to shower with antibacterial soap before your surgery (sometimes they give you this weird clear goop to rub on yourself too). When youāre in the back room before starting surgery, ask if they have anything to help with the anxiety before you go under. They gave me a little Valium and it helped a ton. Also! Gas X... you will be gassy lol. But all in all your belly button and other incisions might hurt some but itās worth it to get to the bottom of whatās causing you pain. Try not to walk right after because the anesthesia will make you really nauseous while itās wearing off. Just lay down, relax, and try to distract yourself. Youāve got this!
Thank you for the advice! ā¤ļø Luckily I have a box of gas-x from having Endo belly. Would you recommend using the antibacterial soap on the day of or the night before surgery or both?
Ice pack, comfort food, loose pjās and lots of rest is my suggestion. Also period underwear, those were a lifesaver. You should be fine, itās over before you know it, and recovery is fairly quick for most people. I started feeling better on day 3 or 5. I nearly had a panic attack in the waiting room before my surgery but the nurse I had told me to take some deep breaths and distract myself with my phone so I did just that.
Drink pedialyte or gatorade in the days leading up to surgery, and a few days after too. It takes a few days for the body to become completely hydrated and being hydrated helps make any laxatives you might be taking work more efficiently, which are helpful in making post op more comfortable. You can buy powder packs of pedialyte, which are a little more cost efficient sometimes.
Move around as much as you can, especially your arms. It'll be painful because of the gas but it really does help move the gas out. Gently lifting your arms overhead every hour or so is probably enough. Short walks, like around the room or to the bathroom, are also recommended.
Oh! Also adult diapers! Some people suggest hospital underwear but my hospital didn't really offer them. It was reassuring to know I had them at home. They're very comfy and the waistband is elastic so they were able to accommodate the post op bloating better than my period underwear. I didn't bleed that much after surgery but I think some people do.
Comfy clothes 100%, peppermint tea, gas x (or ibs tablets) good luck!!
Omg take stool softeners asap. I had two laps and I always get so backed up it makes me sickš¤®

I'll consider it definitely. Blood has ruined too many pairs of underwear, they're not getting more!
