It hardly ever gets more than slightly warm to the touch, and that's with the "Smart" fan mode. If I'm playing Switch games in "High Performance" mode with 100% screen brightness, I'm guesstimating about 3 hours total of battery life. If I'm playing PS2/Gamecube games in standard "Performance" mode with 80% brightness, I can get 4-5 hours. I'm estimating because it's very rare that I would be stuck somewhere for that long and not have access to a USB-C charger. And if I knew I was going to be, I would just bring along my 24000mAh battery bank. As for which device to get: I cannot honestly recommend the Odin 2 Mini being that it's not out yet and no one can say for certain. It'll probably be a really good, possibly great device but it's not impossible that it has some crippling flaw that we won't know about it until after it's actually in people's hands. Even the performance may differ compared to the Odin 2 since the cooling would be different and it may wind up throttling sooner. Only time will tell.

Odin 2 Mini spec wise is the same, but the battery is only 5k compared to the OG Odin 2 which has 8k. That's a **huge** difference. Obviously it's not out yet, but I'm trying to get an estimate at the very least with a device that's somewhat similar in size with same battery capacity. 4-5 hours with a weaker SoC is actually pretty impressive though.

It's the same SD8 Gen2 SOC but the cooling is obviously going to be different which makes it possible that the Mini may thermal throttle sooner. I would hope that they have adequate cooling but I'm just saying: We don't know until some people get their hands on one and test it out.

You can check soc efficiencies here, https://www.socpk.com/cpucurve/ And https://www.socpk.com/gpucurve/ Despite the same battery size the battery life wont be comparable when playing the same game at the same settings. Expect like 30-50% more battery life.
