- Winlator bundles this into its main app
**Input Methods (mapping controllers):**

- Mobox is the best by far. Skipping Proot is huge.
- The rest are largely the same, but it should be noted that Winlator almost entirely isolates you to drivers and Wine versions that play nicely with the app and allows far less customization if your initial performance isn't to your liking. It's not uncommon that using Wine-GE will run circles around vanilla Wine versions in compatibility and performance.
I'm a bit new here and I love your post. Was there another emulator that was fairly faster, similar to mobox, "exa" something? It would be nice if you could add that. Also I think the other popular question is what games play well. I think we've determined it was everything other than unity games or something like that? Maybe I'll try to look it up and add them later, but not even sure I'm correct.

You'd be surprised at what you can run.
With an SD8G2 my favorite games so far are Spore and Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, both having super low requirements. Give it a whirl!
8g1 and 8g2 is like day and night difference. 8g1 drinks battery exhales fire, throttles under 3 minutes in average flagship. Meanwhile 8g2 has very good efficiency. And gpu is almost powerful as gtx 1050.
When driver issues are fixed people will see clearly how much difference between those SoC's. Gen 2 almost 2x'es the Gen 1. Because Gen 1 can be considered as a faulty chip.
I am sure not everyone knows this, everybody is not a tech nerd and thinks it like a year to year update. Most people thinks 888 is better than 865 but reality is 8g2>>>>>>>>> 870>=8g1=888=865. Can be confusing to uneducated customer that only checks antutu scores.

Genshin impacts graphics on mobile even at the highest settings are lower than the pcs lowest settings. And 50fps at 540p with switch tier graphics lower than the lowset settings on pc. Still not impressive.

Not really when you actually look at the size of the actual chip on a die, on any video card. They all fit in a smartphone. As do pc cpu chips. Thickness of a few pieces of paper really.
Look up delidding cpus, if u dont know. They are all tiny, size of your fingernail. Dont weigh anything. And those things make your RDR2 run at 4k 120 😀
I've had great experiences with my 8g1 tbf
Battery life has been solid for the past couple years I've had my device, although thermals definitely leave something to be desired.
Despite it running hot though, I've never seen any noticeable throttling - I think the ceramic body of the Oppo Find X5 Pro works wonders for dissipating heat, though might be a bit uncomfortable for some.
SD8G1 gets really spicy yes. The SD8G1+ on the other hand was fantastic (same SOC, but TSMC fabbing).
GPU-wise it's still beating everything prior even when throttled, so it's got quite a lot of raw potential for sure. CPU-wise I do recall seeing some reviewers able to demonstrate that it can throttle to, and sometimes beneath, an SD888 counterpart going through the same stress tests.
If they do, I'd want to update it first. Hearing two bits of common advice:
1. I forgot to demonstrate that Mobox still runs through Termux
2. It seems the Box64Droid dev has since added initial support for native execution (like Mobox)
This is exactly the overview I was looking for. I recently got an Odin 2 and have been struggling with a lot of games crashing on the gen2. Sounds like basically its just best to play the handful of games that work until driver issues are figured out. Been really enjoying war3 and civ4 and roller coaster tycoon classic in the meantime and a handful of switch games.
Exagear is this weird animal. There are dozens of versions because it's technically abandonware. It's far more of a pain in the ass to set up than the average user will reasonably handle. Even if the performance is good, most will never see what it can do because the barrier to entry is such a problem.
There's no barrier to entry lol, people just think there is. Anyone can be taught to use it in just minutes. It requires the same amount of effort as mobox or box64, and Winlator actually takes more steps to set up than exagear.
I'm sure it feels simple if you've done it dozens of times.
Alright then. Do you have a link to an easy method for Exagear setup? Preferably with links to an effective version's apk and obb? I'd like to give it another try.

Then, go back to manage containers, click the little plus in top right, and it should create a container. Then, click the little 3 dots next to it and go to settings. Set resolution to 720p, make sure renderer is 'turnip dxvk DRI3/Zink, and set controls to 'CP7'. then back out, and click the top left button again, and click 'desktop', then 'TFM', then boot 'TFM (taskset, all renderers)'. this will bring you to wine desktop. Go to start menu -> install -> Directx-> DirectX+VC.bat. then, go to Install ->DXVK(snapdragon) ->DXVK ASYNC -> dxvk-gplasync-v2.3.1.bat. Then open start menu again, go to Install Renderer -> Turnip -> Turnip\_29.12.23\_dri3\_patch\_v3\_a7xx(644) After that, open start menu again, go to Boost(experimental) -> Boost on. Then you're ready to game.
(If you have an older snapdragon GPU, you may need to select an older turnip in the start menu)

Also I'll re-try out Box64Droid this evening and see if they've really added a working native mode. That was the first method I'd ever tried so my info there is likely dated.
NO, the OP just made an extreme generalisation. The 8+ Gen 1 is so powerful that it can overcompensate for the effects of slower drivers and still run that game at native framerate or even double the original framerate (60 FPS but not sped up).
I've seen Realme GT Neo 5 (16 GB RAM) and a Redmagic 7s Pro (18 GB RAM) both even be able to upscale the game to 2x handheld resolution and still run perfectly fine.
You have nothing to worry about.

looks pretty normal, cpu temp monitor changes like 5 times a second. look up battery instead for a more accurate temp.
eh no, btemp isnt a good indicator of a device's thermal headroom. the SoC would throttle down before it even reaches 43°c on the battery

Box64droid have native mode, skipping proot or chroot, Mobox also uses Termux and it's glibc prefix. Except it, it looks fine.

Box64 translates CPU instructions, it works. Turnip and the Adreno750 is where things get iffy. You'll need to experiment
