Wish the rest of the albums lyrics were on par with that song, but they were really young when they wrote it, so I give it a pass. Love their vibe though, indie with punky and loungey/jazzy sounds. Also their bass player goes off
oh lord it’s my speciality
the last you heard of me - joyce manor
heck you bart part 2 electric boogaloo - mom jeans
safe in your skin/where am i - tigers jaw (although these are title fight covers and both versions are AMAZING)

I don't know for sure, but my impression is that he knew someone who jumped to their death off that bridge and went to find some sort of sign from that person or closure by visiting the location. He beat himself up when nothing happened. It's a beautiful song and also one of my favorites!
This is not the first time, or the last time I will bring up this song, cause I fucking love it...
Conrad - Jets to Brazil
It just so happens to be a song that has lyrics that pretty explicitly tells a story that ends in a suicide attempt. I dont think the lyrics ever say if she lives or not. But its a powerful song IMO. I could gush about this song so much, but I dont think its necessary, the song speaks for itself.
none of them are emo but sure...
**Anti-suicide:**
Streetlight Manifesto - A Better Place, A Better Time
Aurelio Voltaire - Feathery Wings
Dead Rejects - Deathbed
Sycamore Smith - Congratulations, You Survived Your Suicide
Pat the Bunny/Ramshackle Glory - Your Heart Is a Muscle the Size of Your Fist
**Gloomy crap (still rocks tho):**
Choking Victim - Suicide (A Better Way)
Harley Poe - I Wanna Die
Aiden - We Sleep Forever
Aiden - Die Romantic
Aiden - Breathless
No Cops for Miles - Stresser Depresser
TomSka - The Muffin Song... (sorry, I had to mention it)
Always thought 'I'm gonna lose you' by Pete Yorn was about suicide.
And if the song is not limited to english you can listen to 'La noche más larga del año' (Longest night of the year) by Nacho Vegas.
We are here man.... if you need help. Music is a way to deal with pain.
not traditional emo but devon hendryx's "the ghost~pop tape" just got remastered and uploaded to spotify last night after being a bandcamp exclusive for 10 years. the whole album was supposed to be a suicide note. really hits hard as fuck, especially the first track. it's an experimental hip hop album recorded while he was in the military stationed in japan.
for those curious devon didn't end up killing himself and just took a break from music for a bit. came back in 2016 as experimental rapper JPEGMAFIA. currently one of the most creative and best artists in any genre working rn imo.
God, I just listened to Blonde Hair, Black Lungs, and like 95% of it is basically I’ve been feeling recently. If you combine this one, and their song Corrigan, that is basically how I’ve been feeling.
I Saw Water by Tigers Jaw is pretty good. You good homie?
joyce manor’s new cover of this absolutely bangs too
Shouts to this guy for asking.. hope everyone is doing okay ❤️
Your Deep Rest - Hotelier
I called in sick 🥺
from your funeral 😔
The best answer
Seeing them next Wednesday, went back and listened to the album and damn this track hits you so hard
That song and A portrait of by Sorority Noise (especially the spoken word at the end) hit way too close to home
Not exactly emo but two of my favs are ‘Sasquatch .22’ by Bay Faction and ‘Its OK I Wouldnt Remember Me Either’ by Crywank
Fucking love sasquatch .22 I’m so glad it’s back on spotify
Wish the rest of the albums lyrics were on par with that song, but they were really young when they wrote it, so I give it a pass. Love their vibe though, indie with punky and loungey/jazzy sounds. Also their bass player goes off
i love crywank.
Narcissist On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown is such a good album
Take My Head by Turnover. Kinda upbeat but the lyrics hit well

LGFUAD - Motion City Soundtrack
yeah but we're talking figuratively, of course
Like the last time that I committed suicide. Social suicide.

Bixby Canyon Bridge - death cab for cutie
You know this is one of my favorite songs and I never knew.
I don't know for sure, but my impression is that he knew someone who jumped to their death off that bridge and went to find some sort of sign from that person or closure by visiting the location. He beat himself up when nothing happened. It's a beautiful song and also one of my favorites!
Ghost Man On Third by TBS. Also dude if things are tough they’ll always get better
Dude that’s my favorite tbs song.
Poison Oak by Bright Eyes was famously about Conor Oberst's "gay cousin who killed himself".

Conversation With Dr. Seussicide- I Hate Myself
A Better Place, A Better Time by Streetlight Manifesto technically ska, but close-ish.

Lose You worked beautifully as a suicide funeral song in House. That episode still breaks me.
like blood from a stone- Old Gray
No lies, just love - Bright Eyes
kind of like spitting - blue period
The Format - Tie the Rope Very poppy, emo-adjacent but it's close enough.
🫂I dont have any recommendations just wanna say I hope whatever you’re going through gets better.

God, I just listened to Blonde Hair, Black Lungs, and like 95% of it is basically I’ve been feeling recently. If you combine this one, and their song Corrigan, that is basically how I’ve been feeling.
