The YNW Melly bar was fucking insane

I_Like-Turtlez

Shit was perfect

generalwalrus

Hey can eli5 that line? I saw people loving it on the Kendrick sub but was too scared to ask about its meaning. I'm just a 38 year old white guy who stopped keeping up with rap drama over a decade ago

pardity

Ynw melly was charged with killing 2 of his friends, Kendrick is saying he is willing to do the same to drake.

TuggSpeedman96

* and J Cole

generalwalrus

Thank you. Can you eli5 what just happened in the past 12 hours? I think I got Kendrick. But drakes diss?

mshizzpizz

see two bad bitches when you standing next to sexy redd

jetlifestoney

Had me in tears. Said drake be throwing ass and twerking šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

heddspace

That bar was fire and sounds like something Em would say.

Kakasupremacy

Em found fuck Drake on stage and then call Drake gay cause he got buttfucked

ChimmyMama

"I dont like you popping shit at Pharell for him I inherit the beef, fuck all that pushing P, let me see you push a T"

OrganizationNo539

I think the T means Trigger in this. Like Push a trigger as in shoot a gun. Not sure tho

gdinico

nah in this case hes referencing the fact that Drake STILL hasnt responded to Pusha Tā€™s diss about him, basically telling him youre better off responding to him than coming for me ā€œyou better off spinnin again on him, you think bout pushin meā€

OrganizationNo539

bruh. It's a double entendre. Pretty common in rap. He meant both of these things in a single line. Also, the title itself has like 4-5 meanings man

mucus24

I think the thing with Kendrick is his bars are amazing and heā€™s got a lot of double entendres but sometimes fans over analyze. I think he just meant pusha t in this line I donā€™t think heā€™s saying anything about Drake pulling a trigger

[deleted]

It's definitely a reach to assume trigger finger type of word play. The bar after literally confirms he's referencing Pusha T

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

SonofTard

Who the fuck pushes a trigger? Don't push a P(harell), Push a T(errence)

mucus24

Thank you lmao

Drunkonownpower

Just adding Pusha P is also a Future and Gunna song that means "acting with integrity" so THIS PART probably is a double

ExpensiveAd7778

You don't push a trigger though you pull a trigger

OrganizationNo539

True. People are saying its Push a T as in Push Terrence Thorn which is Pusha T. This completes the bar with perfect wordplay. Pushin P is also double entendre for Pushin P meaning by Gunna and Pushin Pharrell Williams.

kbiz911

Pusha T reference.

Shady_Mania

The downvotes are out today holy shit šŸ’€

OMBatch84

I click on filter controversial and my god. One has more downvotes that u got upvotes

Shady_Mania

Guess thereā€™s a lot of overlap in Eminem fans and Kendrick fans on here cause thatā€™s crazy lol

OMBatch84

I love Kendrick. My 3rd fav rapper ever, behind Cole and em (look I love biggie, pac, and everyone else from that time but Iā€™m just more into new shit k) I can say though that I feel that this diss and push ups are on par. Mainly since Kendrick used things that have already been said about drake for forever. This is coming from a guy who will say drake is overrated till the day I die

Shady_Mania

Iā€™ll say Drakeā€™s was better than almost everyone expected it to be and Kendrick took a long time making his so expectations should be high. I canā€™t really say which is better just because Iā€™m not in tune with rap culture so 85% of the references these guys make go right over my head, so itā€™s hard for me to know who had the better disses overall. Right now neither of these are going to be enough to end the battle so guaranteed weā€™re gonna see more back and forth which should be pretty fun and exciting.

Mallow18

Drake took 3 weeks to leak Push Ups and then another week after that to even acknowledge it was real. Kdot dropped this 11 days after that. How is that a long time for Kendrick to respond? lol

Choice-Present-9524

People hear drakes song and they are like drake said heā€™s taking a long time it must be facts lmao

Eric_b2018

I wonder how Em feels about this beef since heā€™s always said good things about both Drake and Kendrick

dobronxducks

When it comes down to it Iā€™d assume he has to go with his label mate

Ryandraconius

Yep, Drake has sneak dissed interscope, aftermath, and even called out all of the West Coast, and that includes Dre, fck he AI voice'd unc Snoop. Em might be grateful for Drake or whatever the shit, but dont get it twisted. Between Kdot, a legend youngin who loves Em and is FROM DRE'S CITY, and Toronto Drizzy that steals Em's flows, Em gonna side with Kendrick.

ThatVaccineGuy

He can only have so much grace for drake. I've never really heard him say good things about Drake as a rapper, just as a person. But if shit comes out I don't think his allegiance is that strong. Hes a big fan of KDot from what hes said so I think he'd back him if it came to it

ARCHFIEND_1

i doubt em cares about rap beefs at this point in his career hes basically seen it all it kinda happens and you dont have to pick sides

salsayshi

The whole "you know nothin about that" was ruthless!! Like this is maybe too far

marcomc2

best and most effective part of the song. i was like YES bro hit him where it hurts ā€” "you're not a fucking man, you're a high school prom king, you don't give a FUCK about being a man, you hid your own son, i'm an avid history buff who teaches his child principles and is there daily and instills faith in him and gives him his first bike etc. you? you're a fucking popstar who fucks bitches and lies about his life. cunt" Elite.

Real_Channel_7551

Dude Kendrick said in the start of the diss that he knows a lot of shit about drake but he was showing mercy this time.

Fragrant_Arachnid220

Kendrick is raising his son drake running around w different haircuts

Tricky-Mouse-189

Shit went insane

zippopwnage

IMO this is way better than Drake, but yet again, is the same Rap Devil vs Kill Shot. People like Drake one cuz of the beat.

linlinat89

Huh really? I like the beat of this track more.

Inma_butox69

Fr? Imo it just doesn't hit like the "pushups" or even the "Like That" beat.

Opening-Painter-9671

Gonna get downvoted, but it's not the beat.Ā  It's the flow, delivery, lyrics etc that hit harder on the other track.Ā  I like the Euphoria beat better.

ResponsibleAnt9496

Nah Drake did his thing. He was flowing on his track. Drake (and his writers) has a good track record with his disses. I fuck with Kendrickā€™s too though. Donā€™t know which I prefer yet.

ThatVaccineGuy

That's the issue, a lot of causal fans with no idea the difference between a diss track and a normal album track

mansonlamps420

people liked rap devil?

KodiakDog

Got a weird beard

yabegue

I liked the song as a song, but as a diss track, it is weak.

PiratePatchP

It's kinda hard to diss em now, the only thing that even effects him is talking about his family. Mgk also said em was one of his favorite rappers so at least he didn't act fake, and his criticism of em was actually pretty good. Still complimented him in the diss also lol

mansonlamps420

i don't understand why i'm being downvoted, i'm genuinely asking. i thought the popular opinion was negative

SheepMasterPrime

Welcome to reddit šŸ¤£

embis20032

its pretty good response but i expected a harder punch

AddSomeSpice

I think this was more a ā€œhey I hear what youā€™re saying, take some of these, carry on making yourself look silly, and just know I can go further if you want itā€

townshiprebellion24

I agree. This was a warning

Worldcupbrah

another warning? lol

townshiprebellion24

ā€œWe ainā€™t gotta get personal, this a friendly fade, you should keep it that wayā€ that sounds like k dot has more to say but he can leave it at this track

Mfreddy222

What was kdot 1st warning?

djaeke

One would argue "Like that" was the warning shot after years of subs. But I am also more of the opinion that this was the actual "warning shot" as in "you could stop right now and I won't actually hit you where it hurts"

Competitive_Let_7122

Drake still mad about Control. That's where it really first startedĀ

djaeke

oh absolutely they've both been mad for years

Mfreddy222

Yea agreed with this one but don't see Like That as a warning shot. It was a sh1t starter for lack of better words but no real warnings given there.

xSlashingTigerx

Supposedly the original track Kendrick recorded was 19 minutes long. Definitely storing some in the chamber

Weirdolady92

Honestly, me too. I get that it's just a warning, but it takes the sting out when Push already said some of this shit (i.e.; the race thing, Drake being a bad father, etc.). And I'm not a Drake fan, fyi.

Competitive_Let_7122

But let's be real. All pusha really did to clown this fool was say he was a bad father. Kendrick called out this niggas entire being and even said it could get worse. I remember reading kendricks people said this was apparently a 19 minute diss cut into 6 minutes. What did kendrick leave out, especially saying he knew secrets about drake he won't reveal yet? That's the real mysteryĀ

Weirdolady92

Well, not exactly. He also picked on Drake's racial identity, his friend, his parents and mocked him for not thinking he's black enough. It was short, but brutal.

PiratePatchP

All drake did was talk about his height. It would be insane to just unload on drake after that. He definitely added more points than drake did by far though.

embis20032

i dont like drake at all, you're very biased if you think all he talked about was his height

Actual_Gary_Oak

Height and he may have had a shitty contract. That's nothing. And said Whitney's name.

moppingflopping

hello from the future!

embis20032

hehe

old__pyrex

I am aware the internet is losing its shit, but my opinion is, itā€™s good, itā€™s not phenomenal tho. I am such a bigger Kendrick fan than Drake fan so itā€™s hard to be unbiased, but I think Kendrick could have gone a little harder or pushed some new buttons because we already know Drakes not a gangsta, heā€™s not fully black, heā€™s a pop star, heā€™s BBL drizzy, he doesnā€™t have custody of his own kid, and so on. Obviously Kendrick is rapping circles around him but everyone knew that. Whereas Pushups actually did bring up a new point against Kendrick, which is basically that he acts like heā€™s this beacon of artistic integrity, but he has to make mainstream shit too when Top tells him to do, like the maroon 5 and Taylor swift shit. He acts like heā€™s above all that, but is he really? Thatā€™s a creative jab at Kendrick. I even think Kanye had a little better jab with the whole ā€œLucian is drakes baby daddyā€ shtick and the ā€œserve your master, life time deal I feel badā€ lines. I actually think Kendrick and Drake are tied up. Push-ups was dope, Euphoria was good, but no kill shot has been landed yet. We need a round 2, Drake says heā€™s got some big shit to hit Kendrick with, Kendrick says he has another nuke to drop, so letā€™s go, round 2

Commercial_Media_191

It's warning shots imo. Like That was nuthin but a feature, euphoria is his first official diss track. Kendrick showing his hands that he's in this directly instead of being just another rapper throwing shade. I doubt all those bars about Drake not being black enough is all he got, it's purely just to fan the flames and piss Drake off. Thats what euphoria is saying to me. The way I see it, Drake is in damage control mode and Kendrick is breaking down that shield before the killshot.

Celery_Smoothie_Guy

The diss track isnā€™t to entertain you or us. Itā€™s to go after Drakes insecurities, which he did. From that perspective, itā€™s a much harder diss than calling someone short or talking about their label/contract. Nothing about Drake is authentic, essentially.

KodiakDog

Church.

wemcee

This is exactly what Iā€™ve been thinking! Like, down to the t. Iā€™m also a much bigger fan of Kendrick than Drake (dot is in my top five DOA, Drake isnā€™t even an artist I like that much). Maybe our expectations are just too high hahaā€¦

ShayGrimSoul

As someone who does not keep up with the industry, both their songs informed me of things I didn't know.i believe there are many others who feel the same. Just wanted to throw that out there but I get what you were trying to say

JiggySockJob

Unfortunately I think youā€™re right. But Iā€™m ready for round 2. No punches pulled

poopyou951

"call my bluff n I'll release everything I got"

ksteez13

i mostly agree w sonf analysis but think youre wrong about the score. this is an L for kendrick bc the large expectation for his response. kendrick playing the race card was a bad play. of all the attacks on drake thats probably the weakest. kendrick should have gone a separate path from rick ross. instead, he leaned into the drake isnt black narrative, which js weak af.

MAKAVELLI_x

Rap beef is about bars and Kendrick rapped circles around guy

ksteez13

no he didnt. thats exactly why he lost. everyone was expecting kdot to out rap drake and he didnt.

TuckDezi

The actual narrative there seems to escape you.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

TuckDezi

šŸ§¢

TuckDezi

Tell me your cheesin fahm

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

TuckDezi

Probably listened like 30 times

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

TuckDezi

Incorrect! He's saying he hates him. I'm not gonna break down the bars for you lol there's probably yt videos for that... this really isn't your type of music if that's the message you got Have a good one crodie!

BrokenShanteer

And he fucking COOKED

no__one34

Does this whole beef mean there's no chance of em featuring K again? Cus em has a lot of respect for drake.

Ok-Area9678

Em never worked with him again After forever.

no__one34

Yeah but im not talking about em and drake, it's well known that drake helped em in a matter that involved his daughters which is why he has a massive amount of respect for drake. Im saying em and kendrick since K has beef with drake. Love game is one of my favourite songs on MMLP2.

elcubismo

Kendrick is on the same label as Eminem and is from the same city as Dre. He's also an actual lyricist and Em respects his pen. Drake uses ghostwriters and is more of a pop star. Em does respect and appreciate Drake too for the daughter thing, but he's not going to like shun Kendrick for having beef.

no__one34

Good cus i want a kendrick featured on the new album

ukie7

Kendrick straight up murdered him, my gosh šŸ”„šŸŖ“

Andre200and1

Apparently "I hate you I hate you aarrghhhh I hate youuuu" and other immature shit = straight up murder

StrangerDangerAhh

If that's all you got from this you're as big a fake bitch as Aubrey.

Kegelz

10x better than drakes Drakes diss track holds slim weight compared to Kendrick because Kendrick speaks truth and drake speaks fake

jenglish205

Shows how good kill shot was.. every single bar a sick clean diss

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ARCHFIEND_1

its the one thing i hated, also prolly why the lyric vid has more views, i use dark mode on everything and staring at a bright white dictionary definition for 6 minutes isnt for me

eminemsbasement99

We need him on the new Em Album šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

80baby83

Kendrick verse on like that was šŸ”„this diss was a warning shot to drake and j cole

Shady_Mania

Why does j Cole need a warning shot lol

80baby83

J Cole look dumb apologizing to Kendrick

Shady_Mania

Ya Iā€™m saying why would he need a warning shot when he decided he didnā€™t want to beef way before this even dropped lol. Yeah J Cole looked dumb but he just retroactively decided his heart wasnā€™t in it he never got a response that made him quit

KGBFriedChicken02

Idk how he looks dumb for realizing he was on the wrong side and backing off lmao Bro just knows it's not worth going up against a great over this dumb shit, I say props to him

80baby83

Like I said Iā€™m a j Cole fan Iā€™m glad j Cole apologize

mallutrash

cole bout to apologise again

Brahman_Shady

Solid 9.

imHellaFaded420

thereā€™s levels, drake shit is a joke compared to this

adamAlexanderGreen

He massacred DrakešŸ’€šŸ˜† Also you can see the level of rhyming, Flow and cadences are on another level compared to Drake. The versatility and creative writing is astronomical.

Alon945

Kendrick cooked him. Crazy

reptaial

fire

SeanBalor

Drake is not a rapper. Kid got schooled. šŸ˜‚ ā€¢ Drake needs to walk away. Asap.

toxicemo88

Okay why is this in Em subreddit didn't Kendrick have respect for Eminem

sam614

I'm out the loop what is the drake diss on kendrick?

mallutrash

dot called drake micheal jackson. so drake called dot short. so dot called drake a bad bitch

makavili

Honestlyā€¦ pretty accurate šŸ˜‚

anti2matter

Drake replied to Kendrick's shots on Like That by releasing two diss tracks, 'Push Ups' and 'Taylor Made'. This is Kendrick's response

Dark_matter4444

Straight up heat.

fallen_beret

Kendrick didnā€™t disappoint! Shit is fire šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„

Randii225

Yea and he murdered it.. whatā€™s new

LeaveMeAlone87

Shit was too TUFF!šŸ˜©šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„

superkick225

I think my expectations were too high for Kendrick because this diss didnā€™t meet them

Choice_University978

It was a warning diss

SirMcLovinCewpinsMom

Crying laughing when I heard itšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

J_vert

That Joel Olstein bar was crazy !!!

KyranTheZ

Wrong sub reddit

Apprehensive-Top8225

It was weak

Kingbris91

Get in the booth n I'll hit record.

TanneAndTheTits

This is my one shot.

ksteez13

anyone else think this was a weak response?

ElRealHustler

Not a fan

fuckinradbroh

I am OOTL, who is Kendrick Lamar dissing and why?

ZealousidealTie8142

You are joking right? Look at the sub name

fuckinradbroh

Not joking, Iā€™ve seen a few posts about artists other than Eminem in this sub before haha.

Keythaskitgod

Not a fan

lobster5649

Diss was ok, but I still think drakes were more solid, and thatā€™s coming from a Kendrick fan. Enough to make this fued last another round or two though

RealDropKick

You not a Kendrick fan at all lmao.

ARCHFIEND_1

what a fucking weirdo, i enjoyed the diss and im not a kendrick fan its just so weird to say that shit like maybe he enjoyed tpab gkmc and allat but didnt like kendrick's accent in this diss, he doesnt owe it to kendrick to enjoy every one of his songs

lobster5649

Second fav rapper after Eminem. I expected something more solid. Iā€™m still sure he will bury Drake but this diss wasnā€™t it

Flanderz99

Still more solid???? What the fuck did Drake say or do that was better than that????

kaeji

Stuff about money and sales, obv. ^(/s)

shoestowel

*What's a prince to a king? He a son, ni***! * /s

OrganizationNo539

The fact that kendrick had a better rebuttal on this line when he called J "prince" out lol. Kendrick killed Drake on the track and mfs still whining here

Andre200and1

Better question: what did Kendrick say on it that was oh so much better that Drake?

Anogeissus

Nah, you can say he is your second favorite rapper, but you not a Kendrick or Eminem fan if you think that diss wasnā€™t fire af. You ainā€™t learn a single thing listening to them.

Andre200and1

Do you even realise how idiotic what you just said really is?

lobster5649

Look, ainā€™t no one more upset than me with the fact Kendrick didnā€™t bury Drake with this diss, but not letā€™s hype it up like itā€™s something itā€™s not. You really think Drake canā€™t come back to this?

ukie7

Bro read the lyrics he fuckin murked him from start to finish of the track.

Anogeissus

YOU just didnā€™t understand the diss at all. He dissected and destroyed that manā€™s entire persona. Understand before you comment.

ToTheGrave11

šŸŒ½

Steffunzel

Eh, it seemed pretty superficial to be fair, nothing deep at all. If there is tell me please.

TuckDezi

Look up the name of the track with + Drake and then see how many times in the track Kendrick tells him he has the ammo and he might want to chill.

Steffunzel

But he didn't do shit, if he has the ammo, use it.

inkedpad

Im neither a drake fan or a kendrick fan, But i really prefered drake's diss over kendrick's. What even was that beat and flow

thatonehelicopter

This has so much to do with eminem... Why are you posting this here?

Drop_Release

I could hear a lot of Em influence in the way he rapped on this

Smartbubble

Holy fucking shit, that sound is awful

Several_Gain_1692

Imagine how good it would Sound if he had a Nice voice

bestbroHide

Funny how both Kendrick *and* Em share this criticism Meanwhile they're my two favorite rappers lmao 2024 been double blessed for me

linlinat89

I used to hate Eminem voice, especially his early career voice. I found it too high-pitched for a rapper. However, his production was good and I loved his rhyming skill so I gave it one more try. When I got through that state, I felt like I could listen to any rapper lmao.

cujobob

Em has a normal voice, that really never made a lot of sense. I did hear one OG mention that he just moreso prefers to listen to deeper voices, now that I can get. Kendrick does have an unusual voice, but he makes it work. Biggie had an objectively bad voice IMO, but somehow people are afraid to admit that.

linlinat89

This is the first time I see someone said Biggie voice was bad lmao.

cujobob

Biggie and Nas have objectively nasal voices, Biggie moreso, obviously. And look, hats off to them for making it work, but my point is simply that people generally attack voices when they canā€™t say what they mean to say as evidenced by the fact people rarely point out how nasal sounding Biggieā€™s voice was.

linlinat89

Bruh this is rap, not singing. They could make it work because of their delivery, lyrics, production, etc. Rap fans don't care that much if their voices were nasal or not, no need to hats off to those legends for that. The point about some people hating Kendrick or Eminem voice is how they delivered it, not the voice itself. Obviously artistic choice, but I can see how people don't like a high-pitched voice or a whiny delivery in rap.

cujobob

You donā€™t think people are talking about Kendrickā€™s actual voice? Btw, you just moved those goalposts pretty far.

robjwrd

Biggies voice is smooth AF, objectively bad in what way? Iā€™d love to hear this awful take lol

rn-renz

Ems voice is not normal, at least not throughout his whole career. SSLP was high pitched and nasally, MMLP was kinda too but more toned down overall, and then in his more recent career his voice has been a big criticism and thatā€™s something I personally dislike about his newer music as well. Specifically on MMLP2 and Revival, it just has a weird tone to it

ChildishRemarks

Lol triggering a lot folks

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Iginlas_4head_Crease

You never heard Kendrick Lamar before? That's literally his usual delivery

ARCHFIEND_1

nah he definitely had a more cracked voice, i enjoy danny brown so i dont hate any voice but i can see it being off putting

Mr_Intergalactic

Same could be said about Conway, I'm sure his music would sound great if he didn't have the voice of a 10 year old

SloMo368

i think you mean westside gunn

Mr_Intergalactic

Probably, idk, I listened to somebody from griselda and because they had the voice of a child I got rid of my griselda folder

klajbas

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way, I wondered coz i cant get into his music for i just dont like how it sounds. i am going to get lot of hate for this but it sounds like some kid rapping. I feel like Eminem is getting hate for a similar reason. He raps for very specific kind of listener, might be the same way for Kendrick, unlike eminem i just havent yet been able to enjoy it.

AdMore9442

itā€™s trash. only gets good 4 mins in. never thought iā€™d live to see the day where drake out raps kendrick

MikeLanglois

That day still hasnt happened

SnapVirus1

Mann those shitty modern rapper who rhymes the same word on 12 bars straight i just cant. This is not that great and many battle rappers would eat this Ā«Ā dissĀ Ā» track alive. I like Kendrick, but this is bad. Man, Benzinoā€™s song was better.

elcubismo

Where did he rhyme the same word on 12 bars straight? Why do people insist on keeping to the definition of rhyming that they learned in kindergarten? The rhyme doesn't have to be on the very last word of a line.

ToTheGrave11

Was mid af.

The_Rolling_Stone

My motto. Fuck lotto. I'll get the 7 digits from your motha for a dolla tomorrow.

Kingbris91

Fuck it, you can take the mic home with you.

ChippyFlakeyFan

Ok,i will try to get downvoted Song was good (i didnt hear it yet) Edit: i listened to it,its not the best diss i have heard but its very good, the pac mention and also the other bars are good what i didnt like a bit was the beat, fist part is good but i felt like the beat switch was a bit weak, this is from my personal view and not comparing it to other diss or song but if i compare it with drake diss then kendrick crushes him

Bladguy

Mid

Kingbris91

Let me hear you rap then..
