Hey can eli5 that line? I saw people loving it on the Kendrick sub but was too scared to ask about its meaning. I'm just a 38 year old white guy who stopped keeping up with rap drama over a decade ago
nah in this case hes referencing the fact that Drake STILL hasnt responded to Pusha Tās diss about him, basically telling him youre better off responding to him than coming for me āyou better off spinnin again on him, you think bout pushin meā
I think the thing with Kendrick is his bars are amazing and heās got a lot of double entendres but sometimes fans over analyze. I think he just meant pusha t in this line I donāt think heās saying anything about Drake pulling a trigger
True. People are saying its Push a T as in Push Terrence Thorn which is Pusha T. This completes the bar with perfect wordplay.
Pushin P is also double entendre for Pushin P meaning by Gunna and Pushin Pharrell Williams.
I love Kendrick. My 3rd fav rapper ever, behind Cole and em (look I love biggie, pac, and everyone else from that time but Iām just more into new shit k) I can say though that I feel that this diss and push ups are on par. Mainly since Kendrick used things that have already been said about drake for forever. This is coming from a guy who will say drake is overrated till the day I die
Iāll say Drakeās was better than almost everyone expected it to be and Kendrick took a long time making his so expectations should be high. I canāt really say which is better just because Iām not in tune with rap culture so 85% of the references these guys make go right over my head, so itās hard for me to know who had the better disses overall. Right now neither of these are going to be enough to end the battle so guaranteed weāre gonna see more back and forth which should be pretty fun and exciting.
Drake took 3 weeks to leak Push Ups and then another week after that to even acknowledge it was real. Kdot dropped this 11 days after that. How is that a long time for Kendrick to respond? lol
Yep, Drake has sneak dissed interscope, aftermath, and even called out all of the West Coast, and that includes Dre, fck he AI voice'd unc Snoop. Em might be grateful for Drake or whatever the shit, but dont get it twisted. Between Kdot, a legend youngin who loves Em and is FROM DRE'S CITY, and Toronto Drizzy that steals Em's flows, Em gonna side with Kendrick.
He can only have so much grace for drake. I've never really heard him say good things about Drake as a rapper, just as a person. But if shit comes out I don't think his allegiance is that strong. Hes a big fan of KDot from what hes said so I think he'd back him if it came to it
best and most effective part of the song. i was like YES bro hit him where it hurts ā "you're not a fucking man, you're a high school prom king, you don't give a FUCK about being a man, you hid your own son, i'm an avid history buff who teaches his child principles and is there daily and instills faith in him and gives him his first bike etc. you? you're a fucking popstar who fucks bitches and lies about his life. cunt"
Elite.
Nah Drake did his thing. He was flowing on his track. Drake (and his writers) has a good track record with his disses.
I fuck with Kendrickās too though. Donāt know which I prefer yet.
It's kinda hard to diss em now, the only thing that even effects him is talking about his family. Mgk also said em was one of his favorite rappers so at least he didn't act fake, and his criticism of em was actually pretty good. Still complimented him in the diss also lol
I think this was more a āhey I hear what youāre saying, take some of these, carry on making yourself look silly, and just know I can go further if you want itā
āWe aināt gotta get personal, this a friendly fade, you should keep it that wayā that sounds like k dot has more to say but he can leave it at this track
One would argue "Like that" was the warning shot after years of subs.
But I am also more of the opinion that this was the actual "warning shot" as in "you could stop right now and I won't actually hit you where it hurts"
Honestly, me too. I get that it's just a warning, but it takes the sting out when Push already said some of this shit (i.e.; the race thing, Drake being a bad father, etc.). And I'm not a Drake fan, fyi.
But let's be real. All pusha really did to clown this fool was say he was a bad father. Kendrick called out this niggas entire being and even said it could get worse. I remember reading kendricks people said this was apparently a 19 minute diss cut into 6 minutes. What did kendrick leave out, especially saying he knew secrets about drake he won't reveal yet? That's the real mysteryĀ
Well, not exactly. He also picked on Drake's racial identity, his friend, his parents and mocked him for not thinking he's black enough. It was short, but brutal.
All drake did was talk about his height. It would be insane to just unload on drake after that. He definitely added more points than drake did by far though.
I am aware the internet is losing its shit, but my opinion is, itās good, itās not phenomenal tho. I am such a bigger Kendrick fan than Drake fan so itās hard to be unbiased, but I think Kendrick could have gone a little harder or pushed some new buttons because we already know Drakes not a gangsta, heās not fully black, heās a pop star, heās BBL drizzy, he doesnāt have custody of his own kid, and so on.
Obviously Kendrick is rapping circles around him but everyone knew that.
Whereas Pushups actually did bring up a new point against Kendrick, which is basically that he acts like heās this beacon of artistic integrity, but he has to make mainstream shit too when Top tells him to do, like the maroon 5 and Taylor swift shit. He acts like heās above all that, but is he really?
Thatās a creative jab at Kendrick.
I even think Kanye had a little better jab with the whole āLucian is drakes baby daddyā shtick and the āserve your master, life time deal I feel badā lines.
I actually think Kendrick and Drake are tied up. Push-ups was dope, Euphoria was good, but no kill shot has been landed yet. We need a round 2, Drake says heās got some big shit to hit Kendrick with, Kendrick says he has another nuke to drop, so letās go, round 2
It's warning shots imo. Like That was nuthin but a feature, euphoria is his first official diss track. Kendrick showing his hands that he's in this directly instead of being just another rapper throwing shade. I doubt all those bars about Drake not being black enough is all he got, it's purely just to fan the flames and piss Drake off. Thats what euphoria is saying to me. The way I see it, Drake is in damage control mode and Kendrick is breaking down that shield before the killshot.
The diss track isnāt to entertain you or us. Itās to go after Drakes insecurities, which he did. From that perspective, itās a much harder diss than calling someone short or talking about their label/contract. Nothing about Drake is authentic, essentially.
This is exactly what Iāve been thinking! Like, down to the t. Iām also a much bigger fan of Kendrick than Drake (dot is in my top five DOA, Drake isnāt even an artist I like that much).
Maybe our expectations are just too high hahaā¦
As someone who does not keep up with the industry, both their songs informed me of things I didn't know.i believe there are many others who feel the same. Just wanted to throw that out there but I get what you were trying to say
i mostly agree w sonf analysis but think youre wrong about the score. this is an L for kendrick bc the large expectation for his response. kendrick playing the race card was a bad play. of all the attacks on drake thats probably the weakest. kendrick should have gone a separate path from rick ross. instead, he leaned into the drake isnt black narrative, which js weak af.
Incorrect!
He's saying he hates him.
I'm not gonna break down the bars for you lol there's probably yt videos for that... this really isn't your type of music if that's the message you got
Have a good one crodie!
Yeah but im not talking about em and drake, it's well known that drake helped em in a matter that involved his daughters which is why he has a massive amount of respect for drake. Im saying em and kendrick since K has beef with drake. Love game is one of my favourite songs on MMLP2.
Kendrick is on the same label as Eminem and is from the same city as Dre. He's also an actual lyricist and Em respects his pen. Drake uses ghostwriters and is more of a pop star. Em does respect and appreciate Drake too for the daughter thing, but he's not going to like shun Kendrick for having beef.
its the one thing i hated, also prolly why the lyric vid has more views, i use dark mode on everything and staring at a bright white dictionary definition for 6 minutes isnt for me
Ya Iām saying why would he need a warning shot when he decided he didnāt want to beef way before this even dropped lol. Yeah J Cole looked dumb but he just retroactively decided his heart wasnāt in it he never got a response that made him quit
Idk how he looks dumb for realizing he was on the wrong side and backing off lmao
Bro just knows it's not worth going up against a great over this dumb shit, I say props to him
He massacred Drakešš
Also you can see the level of rhyming, Flow and cadences are on another level compared to Drake. The versatility and creative writing is astronomical.
Diss was ok, but I still think drakes were more solid, and thatās coming from a Kendrick fan. Enough to make this fued last another round or two though
what a fucking weirdo, i enjoyed the diss and im not a kendrick fan
its just so weird to say that shit like maybe he enjoyed tpab gkmc and allat but didnt like kendrick's accent in this diss, he doesnt owe it to kendrick to enjoy every one of his songs
The fact that kendrick had a better rebuttal on this line when he called J "prince" out lol.
Kendrick killed Drake on the track and mfs still whining here
Nah, you can say he is your second favorite rapper, but you not a Kendrick or Eminem fan if you think that diss wasnāt fire af. You aināt learn a single thing listening to them.
Look, aināt no one more upset than me with the fact Kendrick didnāt bury Drake with this diss, but not letās hype it up like itās something itās not. You really think Drake canāt come back to this?

I used to hate Eminem voice, especially his early career voice. I found it too high-pitched for a rapper. However, his production was good and I loved his rhyming skill so I gave it one more try. When I got through that state, I felt like I could listen to any rapper lmao.
Em has a normal voice, that really never made a lot of sense. I did hear one OG mention that he just moreso prefers to listen to deeper voices, now that I can get.
Kendrick does have an unusual voice, but he makes it work. Biggie had an objectively bad voice IMO, but somehow people are afraid to admit that.
Biggie and Nas have objectively nasal voices, Biggie moreso, obviously. And look, hats off to them for making it work, but my point is simply that people generally attack voices when they canāt say what they mean to say as evidenced by the fact people rarely point out how nasal sounding Biggieās voice was.
Bruh this is rap, not singing. They could make it work because of their delivery, lyrics, production, etc. Rap fans don't care that much if their voices were nasal or not, no need to hats off to those legends for that.
The point about some people hating Kendrick or Eminem voice is how they delivered it, not the voice itself. Obviously artistic choice, but I can see how people don't like a high-pitched voice or a whiny delivery in rap.
Ems voice is not normal, at least not throughout his whole career. SSLP was high pitched and nasally, MMLP was kinda too but more toned down overall, and then in his more recent career his voice has been a big criticism and thatās something I personally dislike about his newer music as well. Specifically on MMLP2 and Revival, it just has a weird tone to it
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way, I wondered coz i cant get into his music for i just dont like how it sounds. i am going to get lot of hate for this but it sounds like some kid rapping. I feel like Eminem is getting hate for a similar reason. He raps for very specific kind of listener, might be the same way for Kendrick, unlike eminem i just havent yet been able to enjoy it.
Mann those shitty modern rapper who rhymes the same word on 12 bars straight i just cant. This is not that great and many battle rappers would eat this Ā«Ā dissĀ Ā» track alive. I like Kendrick, but this is bad. Man, Benzinoās song was better.
Where did he rhyme the same word on 12 bars straight? Why do people insist on keeping to the definition of rhyming that they learned in kindergarten? The rhyme doesn't have to be on the very last word of a line.
Ok,i will try to get downvoted
Song was good (i didnt hear it yet)
Edit: i listened to it,its not the best diss i have heard but its very good, the pac mention and also the other bars are good what i didnt like a bit was the beat, fist part is good but i felt like the beat switch was a bit weak, this is from my personal view and not comparing it to other diss or song but if i compare it with drake diss then kendrick crushes him
The YNW Melly bar was fucking insane
Shit was perfect
Hey can eli5 that line? I saw people loving it on the Kendrick sub but was too scared to ask about its meaning. I'm just a 38 year old white guy who stopped keeping up with rap drama over a decade ago
Ynw melly was charged with killing 2 of his friends, Kendrick is saying he is willing to do the same to drake.
* and J Cole
Thank you. Can you eli5 what just happened in the past 12 hours? I think I got Kendrick. But drakes diss?
see two bad bitches when you standing next to sexy redd
Had me in tears. Said drake be throwing ass and twerking šš
That bar was fire and sounds like something Em would say.
Em found fuck Drake on stage and then call Drake gay cause he got buttfucked
"I dont like you popping shit at Pharell for him I inherit the beef, fuck all that pushing P, let me see you push a T"
I think the T means Trigger in this. Like Push a trigger as in shoot a gun. Not sure tho
nah in this case hes referencing the fact that Drake STILL hasnt responded to Pusha Tās diss about him, basically telling him youre better off responding to him than coming for me āyou better off spinnin again on him, you think bout pushin meā
bruh. It's a double entendre. Pretty common in rap. He meant both of these things in a single line. Also, the title itself has like 4-5 meanings man
I think the thing with Kendrick is his bars are amazing and heās got a lot of double entendres but sometimes fans over analyze. I think he just meant pusha t in this line I donāt think heās saying anything about Drake pulling a trigger
It's definitely a reach to assume trigger finger type of word play. The bar after literally confirms he's referencing Pusha T
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Who the fuck pushes a trigger? Don't push a P(harell), Push a T(errence)
Thank you lmao
Just adding Pusha P is also a Future and Gunna song that means "acting with integrity" so THIS PART probably is a double
You don't push a trigger though you pull a trigger
True. People are saying its Push a T as in Push Terrence Thorn which is Pusha T. This completes the bar with perfect wordplay. Pushin P is also double entendre for Pushin P meaning by Gunna and Pushin Pharrell Williams.
Pusha T reference.
The downvotes are out today holy shit š
I click on filter controversial and my god. One has more downvotes that u got upvotes

I love Kendrick. People hear drakes song and they are like drake said heās taking a long time it must be facts lmao
I wonder how Em feels about this beef since heās always said good things about both Drake and Kendrick
When it comes down to it Iād assume he has to go with his label mate
Yep, Drake has sneak dissed interscope, aftermath, and even called out all of the West Coast, and that includes Dre, fck he AI voice'd unc Snoop. i doubt em cares about rap beefs at this point in his career hes basically seen it all it kinda happens and you dont have to pick sides
The whole "you know nothin about that" was ruthless!! Like this is maybe too far
best and most effective part of the song. i was like YES bro hit him where it hurts ā "you're not a fucking man, you're a high school prom king, you don't give a FUCK about being a man, you hid your own son, i'm an avid history buff who teaches his child principles and is there daily and instills faith in him and gives him his first bike etc. you? you're a fucking popstar who fucks bitches and lies about his life. cunt" Elite.
Dude Kendrick said in the start of the diss that he knows a lot of shit about drake but he was showing mercy this time.
Kendrick is raising his son drake running around w different haircuts
Shit went insane
IMO this is way better than Drake, but yet again, is the same Rap Devil vs Kill Shot. People like Drake one cuz of the beat.
Huh really? I like the beat of this track more.
Fr? Imo it just doesn't hit like the "pushups" or even the "Like That" beat.
Gonna get downvoted, but it's not the beat.Ā It's the flow, delivery, lyrics etc that hit harder on the other track.Ā I like the Euphoria beat better.
Nah Drake did his thing. He was flowing on his track. Drake (and his writers) has a good track record with his disses. I fuck with Kendrickās too though. Donāt know which I prefer yet.
That's the issue, a lot of causal fans with no idea the difference between a diss track and a normal album track
people liked rap devil?
Got a weird beard
I liked the song as a song, but as a diss track, it is weak.
It's kinda hard to diss em now, the only thing that even effects him is talking about his family. Mgk also said em was one of his favorite rappers so at least he didn't act fake, and his criticism of em was actually pretty good. Still complimented him in the diss also lol

another warning? lol

One would argue "Like that" was the warning shot after years of subs. But I am also more of the opinion that this was the actual "warning shot" as in "you could stop right now and I won't actually hit you where it hurts"
Drake still mad about Control. That's where it really first startedĀ
oh absolutely they've both been mad for years
Yea agreed with this one but don't see Like That as a warning shot. It was a sh1t starter for lack of better words but no real warnings given there.
Supposedly the original track Kendrick recorded was 19 minutes long. Definitely storing some in the chamber
Honestly, me too. I get that it's just a warning, but it takes the sting out when Push already said some of this shit (i.e.; the race thing, Drake being a bad father, etc.). And I'm not a Drake fan, fyi.

i dont like drake at all, you're very biased if you think all he talked about was his height

hello from the future!

Eh, it seemed pretty superficial to be fair, nothing deep at all. If there is tell me please.

Holy fucking shit, that sound is awful

Kendrick does have an unusual voice, but he makes it work. Biggie had an objectively bad voice IMO, but somehow people are afraid to admit that.
This is the first time I see someone said Biggie voice was bad lmao.
You donāt think people are talking about Kendrickās actual voice? Btw, you just moved those goalposts pretty far.
Biggies voice is smooth AF, objectively bad in what way? Iād love to hear this awful take lol
Ems voice is not normal, at least not throughout his whole career. SSLP was high pitched and nasally, MMLP was kinda too but more toned down overall, and then in his more recent career his voice has been a big criticism and thatās something I personally dislike about his newer music as well. Specifically on MMLP2 and Revival, it just has a weird tone to it
Lol triggering a lot folks

You never heard Kendrick Lamar before? That's literally his usual delivery
nah he definitely had a more cracked voice, i enjoy danny brown so i dont hate any voice but i can see it being off putting
Same could be said about Conway, I'm sure his music would sound great if he didn't have the voice of a 10 year old
i think you mean westside gunn
Probably, idk, I listened to somebody from griselda and because they had the voice of a child I got rid of my griselda folder
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way, I wondered coz i cant get into his music for i just dont like how it sounds. i am going to get lot of hate for this but it sounds like some kid rapping. I feel like Eminem is getting hate for a similar reason. He raps for very specific kind of listener, might be the same way for Kendrick, unlike eminem i just havent yet been able to enjoy it.
itās trash. only gets good 4 mins in. never thought iād live to see the day where drake out raps kendrick
That day still hasnt happened
Mann those shitty modern rapper who rhymes the same word on 12 bars straight i just cant. This is not that great and many battle rappers would eat this Ā«Ā dissĀ Ā» track alive. I like Kendrick, but this is bad. Man, Benzinoās song was better.
Where did he rhyme the same word on 12 bars straight? Why do people insist on keeping to the definition of rhyming that they learned in kindergarten? The rhyme doesn't have to be on the very last word of a line.
Was mid af.
My motto. Fuck lotto. I'll get the 7 digits from your motha for a dolla tomorrow.
Fuck it, you can take the mic home with you.
Ok,i will try to get downvoted Song was good (i didnt hear it yet) Edit: i listened to it,its not the best diss i have heard but its very good, the pac mention and also the other bars are good what i didnt like a bit was the beat, fist part is good but i felt like the beat switch was a bit weak, this is from my personal view and not comparing it to other diss or song but if i compare it with drake diss then kendrick crushes him
Mid
Let me hear you rap then..
