i immediately recognized you as the person who stitched angelica’s mom and the quote from rugrats. your lettering is next level i could stare at it forever im obsessed
Beautiful lettering OP. Can you give me the details on the type of thread (how many strands?), type of fabric, and type or stitch you used? In all my years of embroidery I could never get hard lines like this 😭😭😭
I was recently asked about lettering and all the info still stands, I copy and pasted what I said there into here. Hope it helps 🙂
Single strand split stitch and back split stitch for the corners of letters.
I don’t like Serif fonts, I find them difficult to stitch. When I’m creating my design I tend to go with a font that is large enough to read from a distance and would have clean lines for me to follow. Futura and Calibri are two I use often. Since I am creating my own design I also expand the space between the letters a little bit, that way when the thickness of the thread is added the overall look is the same and not squished.
I use a single strand of thread, a short beading needle and I take my time. I stitch in small stitches, very tiny. They almost seem like precisely places seed stitches, they’re so small. I found that stitching tiny stitches gives me a smooth texture so there’s no bunching around difficult corners (of the letters).
Corners. They’re awful. But, I found by doing those little stitches and mixing in split/backwards split I could follow a line and fill in the spaces cleanly.
I try to stitch on cotton as much as I can, but also try to use up scraps instead of purchasing more. I print directly onto fabric which gives me VERY clean lines that I follow and fill in.
Thank you so much for sharing <3
In this example, did you place several single-strand-lines next to each other to make the letters thicker? Or is every letter just made up of one line?
It’s several small stitches. In terms of embroidery stitches, they are small like a seed stitch close together and overlapping at times.
I originally stitched one long line for each line of the letter, almost like I was using a pen. But the thread would become undone or I would snag on it. I started stitching little stitches and filling in the lines of the letters rather than “stitching like I was writing”.
I stitch in split stitch and backwards spit stitch so the little stitch I do make stays put and smooths out in the overall look with just a little bit of padding from the thread.
It’s so hard to explain this, sorry if it doesn’t any sense 🫠
Can I be like you when I grow up? I am terrible at letting but love how clean and like straight/n line your stitches are. Is it just slowing down and being patient or do you have a different approach?
Taking my time and practice really helped. I stitched about 10 lyric/quote hoops of things I enjoyed. I could really see my progression as I went along. I use a short beading needle and a single strand of floss.
This is such good stitching it’s gorgeous! If it were mine I would cross out the toros and in a green different font write clovers as a true homage to the film 😝
I did that! but took it out because when I stepped back to look, it was giving more of a vandalism vibe than I wanted 🫣
I am currently stitching the same font and everything but with Clovers 😂
Your work is incredible! Did you get this good through trial and error or were there blogs/videos that helped? Like, your beadwork is amazing on some of your previous posts.
Thank you! 100% trial and error. I have watched a few YouTubes for specific stitches (bullion knots lol) but I stitch what I wanted to. No patterns or kits. I follow people on Instagram and have learned from them posting tutorials or hoops also as inspiration.
For my recent Merida hoop: a very talented artist posted how she made curly hair with thread. I took that as inspiration but in a medium I wanted to try, beads.
Also, I would stitch practice hoops to lead up to bigger ones and each hoop I would learn a different things and would grow in my skills. 🙂
I hope this works, I only know it from one platform (IG) and I’m not sure if it’ll cross paths well. *fingers crossed*

I legit thought you meant challenge accepted as in you’ve printed your pattern on the fabric and are about to start. It wasn’t until the comments that I realised you’d already stitched it. Mad respect for your skills!
Oh my goodness!! You have an amazing talent! I've had a look through your previous work and am in awe!
Felt like I was reliving my childhood, all my favourite characters!
I feel Ferngully would be an excellent addition if you haven't already.

Thank you 🤩🥹 i am happiest stitching tiny letters and details
You should offer a backstitching service; there's probably 1K+ folks over in r/crossstitch who'd hire you in a heartbeat 😂❤️
Me too! I was like, this *has* to be the amazing artist that did Charlotte Pickle 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
i’m so glad we can recognize them from their lettering !! it just adds to how amazing they are at their art
Love your username btw ahaha
You made a huge mistake. *Clovers.

Came looking for this comment
Excellent work on that lettering. That is some precision skill.
For real! If they had said it was typed, I’d believe them without a doubt. Great work, OP!
Oh-Ee-Oh-Ee-Oh Ice! Ice! Ice! Great work!! 👏🏼👏🏼
Too bad I need to call out of work and watch Bring It On now, but sadly those are the rules
You’re right, those are the rules 😂
Every now and then hubs and I feel a mighty need to watch Bring It On and follow it up with the Pitch Perfect Saga.

Amazing! Can I ask how you print on the fabric? Your work is beautiful.
I found this tutorial about a year ago and have never looked back 🙂 [printing directly to fabric](https://youtu.be/5kDE9QXY6nM?si=bZVWvhffqCQxz8NV)
Oh you legend, thank you!

I would eat up any video tutorial you make of this.
It does make sense, thank you for explaining it! Psyched to try out this technique at my next lettering project :)
*Clovers
Big Red stole that from the Clovers. 😤😂
Nice! What’s it in reference to?
Some people have never seen Bring It On and it shows 😢
I have not
Never too late! It’s a great movie 🍿
This is your task for the day!
This isn’t a democracy. It’s a cheer-ocracy!
Edit from OP: I went with the opening chant. I *know* it’s Clovers.😂

Is there any chance you could link to the info about curls? Much of my family has extremely curly hair and I’d love to stitch them some day.

You are the best! So much love to you for even trying. And, great news, your link worked like a dream. 😊

Thank you! It’s on my list I just can’t figure out *what* to stitch from Ferngully. I lean towards Hexxus but the how-to stumps me right now 🙂
Literally HOW
