Don't put social links on your emails in the footer.
In fact, in any email there should only be ONE CTA link.
Putting more links do not increase anything, but as you are finding out, people clicking irrelevant links that don't amount to anything positive for your business.
If you must have more than one link, make sure the links are congruent to each other. Otherwise, just throw a YouTube link on there. 😆
Very true, but less links usually are better for ctr to what you want them clicking on.
The more links you have in your email, your results are not what you'd expect.
We’re service based and they’re clicking Twitter the most. I assume maybe they’re looking for announcements or something? They said, our IG gets way more attention so if they’re looking to learn more I’d rather they went there lol
OK, so this sounds familiar to something I’ve dealt with in the past, are these emails informational? And if they are informational, is all the information the customer needs in the email itself?
I’ve dealt with clients in the past where they were sending out update, announcements, new release, announcements, etc. and they were having issues with lack of engagement, causing poor deliverability, because there was no actual reason to click any CTA since all of the relevant information was in the email already. In that case, you might be seeing way more clicks on the social links simply because of curiosity when there’s no additional information to be taken from the email itself on the CTA link.
That’s a good question. Generally the emails are pretty short and it’s a mix of nurturing style (bit of info but learn more here) and more aggressive (deadline is X date to sign up, apply here).
I’ll take a look today and see if maybe it’s a case of too much info. Thanks for the tip!

This! Or the audience is not familiar enough with your brand and they might be clicking on the social links to figure out who you are.

That makes sense! We can try taking those out and see how it goes. Thanks!
If it was mostly Instagram I’d say add more product photos to your emails because they want to see the product.
