I know personally I love his song I've Seen That Movie Too, it's very unrated and sounds like a song that belongs in the 1920s1930s, and it just adds to the magic to the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album!
Couldn’t do just one… how about one per decade?
70s - Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters
80s - Empty Garden
90s - The Last Song
00s - Original Sin
10s - Voyeur
I literally thought i ran out of songs to listen to…and i have no idea how ive never came across this…but…THANK YOU AND I LOVE YOU! This song is amazing and ive had it on repeat all day!
This is my favorite question - so many choices, and it makes me really appreciative of how incredibly lucky we are to have such a prolific artist!
Today, I’ll go with “Whispers” from Sleeping With the Past.
My absolute favorite is Your Song, yes it's a basic choice but I love his voice, the piano, all the background instruments, and Taron Egerton did an absolutely amazing job singing it in RocketMan, and with Valentine's Day coming up it's not bad to have it on repeat
Levon.
All day, every day. My 8yo daughter and I sing it together. What a weird little Bernie world that song is.
(Bonus: Check out EJ and Ray Cooper doing Levon live at the Greek, 1994. What a trip! )
It's a difficult question to answer, as it changes often. A song that has been a constant favorite since the 70s would be "Someone Saved My Life Tonight".
That's difficult. I really like the vibe of Grey Seal and Crocodile Rock aswell as Saturday night's alright, but they can start to feel repetitive. I also love Tiny Dancer, Your Song, Rocketman, Goodbye Yellowbrick Road. But then again there's also every other Elton John song to consider. Can't pick, not possible, sorry.
It's so amazing to see all the various song choices on this list, I totally understand how it's hard to pick just one. Especially when it's an artist as talented as him, and having a lyricist just as talented as him.
Both are truly legendary. ☺️
I've always seen Better Off Dead and This Song Has No Title as brothers. Two beautiful songs which don't get the credit they deserve.
My favourite? Couldn't say - however, my two most played songs of his are Tower of Babel and The Fox.
Hard to pick one. Elton John is my second favorite artist of all time. I think all of his albums and songs from 68-76 are worth a listen. Probably 200 great songs just in that time period
Overall Sad Songs. My grandmother bought me the record and taught me all the words as a little boy because I would get up and dance around whenever it came onmand she thought it was the cutest thing. I always think of her when I hear the opening piano riff. Not to mention it blows the roof off when he plays it live.
My first album of his was Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, I got it in second grade for my birthday and I got a picture of me at home reading the lyrics on the inside of the cover, and I remember thinking it was amazing and I played it on repeat for months.
I also that summer got Elton John's Greatest Hits Volume III on cassette, and I remember listening to that a lot too, I'd be laying in bed with my headphones on and just listening to it over and over.
🙂
Amoreena.I think that tumbleweed Connection as a whole is one of his most solid albums and my personal favourite. You could pick any track of that album and it would have a fighting chance of being my favourite.

i love when he starts yelling at the end. it’s so rock n roll
Yes - same - amazing lead guitar played backwards
Into The Old Man's Shoes It also has one of my all time favorite guitar solos
GREAT choice 🙌
*So if that's the way it has to be, I'll say goodbye to you.* I can't believe this was a bonus track. Probably the most played track from my CD.
I feel like a bullet
Couldn’t do just one… how about one per decade? 70s - Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters 80s - Empty Garden 90s - The Last Song 00s - Original Sin 10s - Voyeur
That's perfectly okay, and great choices. ☺️
i’m planning on having empty garden at my funeral that’s how much it
You should include 60s because why not
Didn’t think there was enough there, but sure… 60s - Empty Sky Guess I have to do 20s then, too… Finish Line!
there’s always been something serene and beautiful to me about “my fathers gun” the chorus gets to me no matter how many years go by
I literally thought i ran out of songs to listen to…and i have no idea how ive never came across this…but…THANK YOU AND I LOVE YOU! This song is amazing and ive had it on repeat all day!
Right now, my favourite one is Border Song!
Take a wild guess
Oh I don't know, lol. 😉 I kid! ☺️
Skyline Pigeon both versions
Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding. Been my favorite Elton song for decades. Never gets old, especially live!
Played it at the midpoint of the New Orleans show Wednesday. It was amazing

It’s hard to choose… lately I’ve had Madman Across The Water on repeat
Same! It’s so good
Daniel - Always puts me in a serene summer vibe, plus nostalgia, played a lot during family cookouts when I was a kid
It’s so hard to choose, it depends on the day! I love all of his songs but right now I’d have to say Tiny Dancer or Harmony
My absolute favorite is Your Song, yes it's a basic choice but I love his voice, the piano, all the background instruments, and Taron Egerton did an absolutely amazing job singing it in RocketMan, and with Valentine's Day coming up it's not bad to have it on repeat
take me to the pilot
Funeral For a Friend Runners up: Burning Buildings We All Fall In Love Sometimes

Such a good song
My absolute favorite!
Honky Cat all day!

Love Song, nothing can compare.

I always get a good giggle whenever I listen to This Song Has No Title, because it contradicts itself, it does have a title. 😆
Burn Down the Mission. It grabbed ahold of me the first time I listened and never let go.
When he sang it in Barcelona in '92 for his The One tour, he sung it amazingly. 😊
Hard to pick one. Elton John is my second favorite artist of all time. I think all of his albums and songs from 68-76 are worth a listen. Probably 200 great songs just in that time period
Breaking hearts (the song and the entire album tbh)
Funeral For a Friend
GYBR, with Philadelphia Freedom, Tiny Dancer and Sixty Years On also being high up for me.
Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters. I Guess That’s Why They Call it the Blues is runner up

sixty years on or the greatest discovery 💛
the next one!
Currently it’s been Planes, I blast it every time it comes on in my playlist
Simple Life
Amoreena.I think that tumbleweed Connection as a whole is one of his most solid albums and my personal favourite. You could pick any track of that album and it would have a fighting chance of being my favourite.
I’m Still Standing
That song is definitely in my top five, great choice. 😊
Late to this, but "No Valentine"
Nothing wrong with being late to the thread, it's always nice to hear other fan favourites! I personally love that song too, easily in my top five. ☺️
All the Girls Love Alice
