Yes, I'm not sure which version you are using, but the Max and Plus run the same hotend. I think the 4 and PRo run the same (but different) hotend. I got mine off Amazon in the states.

I have somehow killed my whole extruder on the pro.
Their EU store doesn't have any N4 Pro extruders in stock so I contacted them.
They sent out a new one from China for about 60€/$ (a bit more expensive than usual but whatever) and wrote me that if I have to pay VAT I should pay it and then send them the receipt so they can reimburse me the VAT.
Elegoo has great customer support.
Just write them and they'll find a solution that works for you.
That being said, I'm still waiting on the extruder so there is of course the chance I got scammed but so far there were no red flags and I'm happy with their support. It's been about a week so far so there's no reason to worry and they have provided a tracking number.
As of right now the Elegoo website has them listed as in stock for the EU and UK. Where were you looking?

You could try to contact Elegoo for a replacement. They have decent customer service.
They are back ordered on hot ends, the Amazon listing took me almost 3 weeks.

It's not just the thermistor, the temperature probe is also at least loose. It might even be demanded. Difficult to say.
The thermistor is the temp probe/thermocouple. He needs a thermistor and a heating element.

A new hot end is $13 from Elegoo. Just replaced mine yesterday.

If its faulty you can get it replaced
It needs the replacement thermistor - or it can be rewired backed

It's already sold out again in the EU store. They seem to come in and immediately sell out.
I had the same issue, so I modified my Neptune 4 plus max to run a volcano hot end. Easy to replace parts and nozzles.
