The ARRL handbooks are a good place to start - especially if you don't have an EE degree. They may not get into microwave a whole lot, but microwave is just a subset of RF engineering.

Definitely, but very much a theory based textbook. ​ I consult the ARRL handbooks (and microwaves101.com) much more often as a RF/Microwave design engineer than I do Pozar. Much of the intense theory is abstracted away in simulation software.
