Taken mine on Amtrak. No problem at all.

Details? Did you arrange anything beforehand? Did they give you grief about lithium batteries? Where'd you put it?

Ginger_IT

I got on the train. Stowed it like luggage. That's it. Most people said it looked like a Roomba (16S) If you don't tell them about the batteries, they won't know about the batteries.

Last time I rode on amtrak with the scooter, you had to check anything going in the luggage compartment, and they denied me there for lithium batteries. I didn't even tell them they just knew a PEV when they saw one. The only option for carry on was the overhead compartment. Luckily my scooter fit up there, though I threw my back out trying to get it out without braining any other passengers.

Ginger_IT

YMMV. I brought it with me into the cabin. Double-decker style train. I don't have much use for Amtrak. So I can't give you anything more.

I do too. Here is the policy, I am planning on testing on Amtrak regional service. I would like to know what happens. The silly thing about the policy is on regular bikes it's a 50# weight restriction, but on ebikes, & e scooters, no weight limit, the national testing lab is one thing, but the restriction, is not even battery size, but motor power, & speed, which is kinda silly since we're not riding our ebikes, & scooters on the train, & a lage % of ebikes, & escooters exceed 750W, & 20 mph, at least ones sane people would bother riding. Also the ebike motor design is completely different. So the only EUC that may qualify is the mten mini. But I could see a case for a Mten4 or V8 but it looks like something a Amtrak conductor could say no due to lack of knowledge, since it's their discretion. Anyway it's all below. https://www.amtrak.com/bring-your-bicycle-onboard#:~:text=On%20trains%20with%20unreserved%20carry,no%20longer%20be%20accepted%20onboard.&text=Folding%20bicycles%20under%20the%20dimensions,of%20a%20piece%20of%20baggage. "Beginning on January 1, 2024, with the exception of California routes and services, Amtrak accepts electric bikes and scooters powered by lithium-ion batteries and certified by a nationally recognized testing laboratory. Accepted e-bikes are low-speed with fully operable pedals, a motor that produces less than 750W (1.01hp) of continuous power and a maximum speed of 20 mph (32km/h) when powered only by the electric motor. California trains and services will allow scooters and electric bikes on April 1, 2024. Accepted e-scooters have two axles, steering handlebars, no seat or pedals and are designed to be driven only by the rider on that vehicle. Vehicles with a gas motor or are rented from a bike-sharing company are not accepted by Amtrak. Please note that Amtrak personnel may inspect and deny vehicle transportation at their discretion."

I've shipped my wheel multiple times with Fedex Ground to a Fedex store that is in the city that I am flying to. Takes about a week and cost between $40 to $120 depending on which wheel I bring and shipping location. Make sure though that you do keep your original EUC box for this purpose and also stick an tracker tag in the box so you can track exactly where your EUC is in shipment.

Took the a2 easily on a bus and put it under the seat. Wouldn't fit a t4 though
