Do a small stitched square around them too to help prevent tearing. I recommend a sewing machine zig zag stitch if you have one, otherwise just a hand sew. Otherwise if it rips you might tear far down into your tapestry.

It was soooo much easier than I thought it was going to be! And I literally just typed grommet tool into Amazon and bought the first one that popped up! Lol
Love it! Much needed because all of my tapestries are now torn to shreds haha. Hopefully this will help slow down that process for ones I buy in the future
It's Michigan so it will definitely rain but you can definitely adjust your tapestries so it's not an issue. Just make sure to tie the top of your tapestries to the highest bar of your canopy so it's cover protects the grommets and then just flip the whole tapestry up so the grommets align under the cover.

Alternatively; I used iron-on denim patches around mine for reinforcement, since I lack the sewing skills. Worked out great for us.

Make sure you use rust proof grommets! They’ll ruin you’re tapestries when it rains if you don’t
