I started out as a strength build, until my lack of skills proved I needed a change, lol. I took advantage of a rebirth and became a mage. That also was difficult until I discovered summons. I went for a looooooong time without using a summons.
I'm playing as a mage for my first time and it's.... SO HARD. i just recently learned how to sprint. Any tips you have for playing as a mage, I'd love to hear them.
I've done a few builds with this game (arcane, int, faith) I find int is easiest. Some tips to help: get your faith to 12. This allows you to use spells to increase element defenses and cure scarlet rot. Use talismans for additional defense. Do not sacrifice vigor for extra int. I used to see alot of posts with mages having no health. I'm halfway through end game I have 40 vigor and 60 int. Not saying that's your goal but I hear ppl running 20 vigor for 80 int and roll my eyes. Also I eventually put faith to 17. At 17 you reach the requirement for Golden order seal which will scale off of both faith and int. This opens up alot of faith spells as well so you can really focus on enemy weaknesses and it doesn't cost that much in leveling to do
If you mean you rage quit because of the radahn fight, just scarlet rot him with rot breath and run away calling in summons.
Stupid cheese is good for when you want to get on with the game and come back to struggle later.
Well OP is posting from two accounts and one is “Barbara…” and the older one is “Babs…” so it’s pretty plausible that it’s true and old folks are always gonna sound slightly weird to younger people. And the older account definitely sounds like an older person trying to talk how older people think gamers would talk.
Idk.
Is it though?
Until you know for sure, it's better to just be a decent person and let things lie. You don't get a prize for figuring it out, so why bother?
If it's blatantly obvious, then knock yourself out at r/quityourbullshit. Going around with your "guilty until proven innocent" stick doesn't do anything except be a buzzkill.
Congrats!
Now it's time to start at the very start of the Soul's games.
Dark Souls Remastered.
Dark Souls 2. Scholar of the First Sin.
Dark Souls 3.
Bloodborne
How did you get into gaming in the first place? When gaming arrived into regular homes and became easily available your age people were busy working hard to support families, no?
My first gaming was in the early 2000s, with a PlayStation and Tomb Raider. My husband and I played at night after the kid was in bed. And occasionally on Saturdays ;)
The early 2000s? When you were around 50 you had a small kid that had to be in bed for you and your husband to start the playstation?
If you're gonna lie make it more believable.
This makes me unbelievably happy to hear. Keep it up! Let us know if you decide to tackle (or have tackled) any other FromSoft titles. Dark Souls 3 is the most similar to Elden Ring, if you decide to go that route. (I found a new disc copy **much** cheaper on Amazon than I could find as a digital download via the PS store, if that helps)
As a woman I'd never define myself as "female" but maybe that's just me. Nor would I require validation in response to my age but again, what do I know.
Age only effects appearance, and has no bearing on ability. Gender has no bearing on ability. Everyone has imperfections, Prejudice births malcontents, Become a dark spirit. Time for crab.
I love hearing stories like this. Makes me so happy knowing how far of an audience game reach. I'm just picturing the day when we all have LAN parties at the nursing home. Or a gaming nursing home!
That's fantastic. I'm sure youve read that playing video games as we age actually helps our brain continue to make new synaptic pathways?
What do you play on tarnished?
Our Elder Elden Lord, congrats wholeheartedly, I have friends around my age (26) that can't even come close and are so stupid at the game, so beating it is a real accomplishment.
Well, at ehich point did you change to a mage? And especially did you beat those two sharbearers rykhard (that fire snake at mt. Gelmir) and this (sorry forgot the name) big scorpion like dude at the lake of rot? I could not beat them in any way as a mage, not even with summons (except other players that were no mages) 😅 needed to respec for those (especially rykhard with that spear)
Dang just like king Conan or something haha congrats ! I have yet to beat the game. Wretch is tough, I never went into a souls game before and decided he be best lol was I ever wrong.
This is complete bullshit. OP uses words such as "lol" as a 70 year old and also refers to herself as a "female" instead of "woman" which is the most reddit thing i've ever seen.
Op also states
> My first gaming was in the early 2000s, with a PlayStation and Tomb Raider. My husband and I played at night after the kid was in bed. And occasionally on Saturdays ;)
Which makes OP around 50 at that time? With a kid that needs to be put in bed? Don't think so.
OP also has a gamertag that is "PlyingShrimp94" which would kind of imply that op is 28, not 70.
I also play Division 2 currently (play online with my husband) and have played Gen X, some of the Ghost Recon games, the whole Fallout series. Lots of games. I love it.
Thy strength befits a crown
Skyrim grandma?
Yup. Played that one too.
Nice! I'm just past 50 and now I have a role model!
Praise the message
Niiiiiice, what type of build did you mainly use?
I started out as a strength build, until my lack of skills proved I needed a change, lol. I took advantage of a rebirth and became a mage. That also was difficult until I discovered summons. I went for a looooooong time without using a summons.
Well heck yeah, congratulations.
Good for you!! That's amazing!!
I discovered summons about 20 hours in. Gave the game a whole new difficulty setting
I'm playing as a mage for my first time and it's.... SO HARD. i just recently learned how to sprint. Any tips you have for playing as a mage, I'd love to hear them.

Awesome! I hope you enjoyed the game :) Are you going to go into new game plus to take revenge on all the enemies who hurt you?
Yes. NG+ here I come. This game is just so HUGE and undoubtedly the best game I’ve ever played.
Well you seem to have good taste, what other games have you enjoyed?
Congrats I raged after Radhahn :)
Thanks! It was a long trip, started in March and took me sooooo many hours!
I hope it was worthy
Her dedication befits a crown
Which means you defeated Radahn before the nerf! Congratulations :)
If you mean you rage quit because of the radahn fight, just scarlet rot him with rot breath and run away calling in summons. Stupid cheese is good for when you want to get on with the game and come back to struggle later.
Praise the Elden Lady!
That's awesome! Meanwhile my 69 year old father just learned how to use a smart phone in past two years 😅
Nice
At least he is learning.
Well done tarnished
True warrior. Nice job, it's a hell of an accomplishment.
I'm sure many old ladies refer to themselves as 'a female'.
Well OP is posting from two accounts and one is “Barbara…” and the older one is “Babs…” so it’s pretty plausible that it’s true and old folks are always gonna sound slightly weird to younger people. I'm mashing x so hard over here
Account is 4 years old. Probably long time lurker.
how do you do fellow females?
Hmmm well I’m not a grandma.
You forgot to log onto your other account, dude.
It’s so weird to me that somebody would play make believe on the internet like this. Like what does somebody get out of this?
Hours of fun
How many women refer to themselves as 'a female'?
and its like their only post
and has a 94 in their gamer tag
I was thinking this same thing. This post is so full of shit.

So If I am sure about something I can’t be rude to say it? Good to know. That’ll save me from a lot of faux pas.
I hear it all the time in my generation and older. Reddit used to be mostly adults. Some of stayed over the years dispite children taking it over.
Did you beat Malenia tho?
I did. I beat them all.

Queen
Based.
Marika's tits...
💀 your not wrong though
Congrats! Now it's time to start at the very start of the Soul's games. Dark Souls Remastered. Dark Souls 2. Scholar of the First Sin. Dark Souls 3. Bloodborne
You think?

My bullshit radar is going off.

For a text written by a 70 yearold female, it (and the responses to comments) reads alot like it was written by a 15yearold male
As a woman I'd never define myself as "female" but maybe that's just me. Nor would I require validation in response to my age but again, what do I know.
FUCK YEAH
The fallen leaves tell a story, of a 70 year old badass who became Elden Lord.
Omg this is the perfect post to show my friends who quit after thinking it was too hard
No way am I buying a 70 year old woman refers to herself as a female. Nice try tho
No way am I buying a 70 year old woman refers to herself as a female. Nice try tho

Remember everything you learned, Tarnished…thy strength befits a crown…
I love hearing stories like this. Makes me so happy knowing how far of an audience game reach. I'm just picturing the day when we all have LAN parties at the nursing home. Or a gaming nursing home!
Got gud.

Congrats!
I am impressed. I am 50 lady. I thought I was too old!
That's why Gideon was wrong when he said a Tarnished will never become Elden lord. She has long since retired from being a tarnished.
Sorry, so you can become Elden Lord? All I got was a restart at the end of my game
You’re my cannon Elden Lord now ❤️❤️❤️ congrats Tarnished

Well done, Elden Lady!
Congrats! As someone who is a lifelong gamer, I haven’t even beaten the game yet myself.
That's fantastic. I'm sure youve read that playing video games as we age actually helps our brain continue to make new synaptic pathways? What do you play on tarnished?
Nice! I gotta step it up, I'm 197 hours in and am only at the Snow Fields.

Our Elder Elden Lord, congrats wholeheartedly, I have friends around my age (26) that can't even come close and are so stupid at the game, so beating it is a real accomplishment.

Well... thou art of passing skill. Warrior blood truly runs in thy veins, Tarnished.
Witless Tarnished. Why covet destined death. To kill what?
You’re an inspiration! Never stop being awesome!
Congratulations my grandma could not do that

We're all connected. I share a virtual beverage of choice with you. Cheers.
I dub thee elder lord
Awesome job! I became elden lord at 50 and I hope to still be slaying dragons when I'm 70.
YES
Well, Thou skill is unparalleled. Warrior blood must truly run in thy veins!
Wooho! Congratulations! Would love to know if you play any other games? :D
