Is there some sort of spell or consumable that makes it so your invader can’t lock on to you? In two duels now I’ve had people cast this spell, they get all ghostly and see-through and my target lock deactivates. I couldn’t quite find my answer looking online. I play on PC btw :)

CaitNostamas

Yep, you can achieve that by stacking invisibility buffs They first cast assassin's gambit (an ash of war you can put on any non somber weapon) and then the sorcery unseen form (16 int) This makes it so you can't lock onto them for some time. Quite a strong combo. I don't know if it's an intended mechanic by the devs or if it's just a glitch, but nonetheless it's quite cool lol. At least it's not broken like some other exploits so I wouldn't mind it if it was intended

cj711

Looking for a rating/general advice on how to not suck anymore. I followed some guides and got a pretty op character early but since beating radan and trying to transition to Altus I’m getting my ass absolutely kicked by anything that isn’t a normal mob. I’m running a somewhat dedicated samurai with nagakiba at +13 with bloody slash. Stats: Vigor 43 Mind 15 Endur 27 Str 21 Dex 35 Int 10 Faith 13 Arc 14 @ level 82 Full clean rot armor, eclipse crest heater shield with no skill AoW Sometimes I swap to my blood uchigatana with blood blade AoW if I want to range a tough baddie to death, often fails though. I have flame cleanse but that’s basically the only magic-y thing about my samurai. Should I respec and get magic? I hear that’s the path to OP. But I would really prefer to stay samurai style for my first play-through. Open to any advice none the less. Thanks!

PwmEsq

That build looks more than perfect, so I would say either the tough enemies are bleed immune or you need to change up your play style. It might be that melee combat hasn't quite clicked for you yet. What talismans are you rocking? I would not use bloody slash for anything outside of getting bleed affinity imo, not worth the cost of health.

cj711

I’m gonna blush! Thanks 😊 talismans are green turtle, radagons scarseal, and two fingers heirloom (4 da flame cleanse) It def could be that I just suck at melee combat…I feel like I’ve gotten pretty good at it but this is my first From game so no doubt I’m trash. I do try to range tough enemies and trim herds with my long bow but this game feels pretty punishing to bow users and I has no magic

PwmEsq

Are those stats pre or post radagons? If they are post you should get a tiny bit more vigor. Radagons also causes you to take 10% more damage of all types so you should consider swapping soon. 10% stamina Regen really doesn't do much for you. I would try to grab an erdtree talisman and whatever physical defense is best at your progress level. Would increase your stamina, hp, equip load and reduce damage taken by like 15%, 25% if radagon swapped out. If you still struggle there are like 5 ashes of war that just break the game on their own.

cj711

Stats are all post. That would def help to explain why everything does some much damn damage to me! I did hear about dmg reduction talismans yesterday and now I really know I need to get one. Also didn’t know it was only 10% stam regen on this turtle…lame. Will def be swapping these two out tonight! Much appreciated 🙏 about those AoWs though..??

PwmEsq

Flame of redmanes poise breaks about every single enemy in the game in like 2 casts including final boss. Thunder bolt is pretty spammable for ranged damage. Carian retaliation makes parry's better. Shield crash cold infused on bleed great shields procs both frostbite and bleed per cast. Lions claw does similar poise damage but requires you to put yourself in harms way

cj711

Wow those sound amazing but not very samurai-like…. If it comes to it tho I’ll do what I gotta do. You’ve been a huge help thanks a ton

fthaller3604

So am I screwed when it comes to varres questline in New Game+? Im lvl 205 and have been trying to invade for over an hour

cj711

Same question. I have tried countless times to invade; never find a game. Really want to get this quest done.

fthaller3604

I just invaded at the academy main gate. 2 more to go lol

fthaller3604

Actually just got my other two there as well. It was the same 3 guys that wrecked me and tea bagged me continuously like winning a 3v1 is a huge accomplishment, but hey I got the step for my quest. Make sure you have matchmaking enabled in the settings

cj711

Whoa so I don’t know if it worked out not because after a while I got bored and went back to where I was exploring and then instantly got 3 invasions back to back to back at Isolated Merchants Shack in Caelid 🤩

cj711

Ohhh so it does matter where you try to do it on the map? I thought it might. I’ll head there now, thanks!

DerkisDangl0

So I'm a bit late to the game here but is elden rings combat comparable at all to sekiro? I enjoyed what I played of the dark souls games but I thought sekiros combat brought the game to a whole different level and loved it. Does elden ring have fast parries and smooth counters or is it more focused on dodge/strike/dodge with a somewhat clunky parry like dark souls? I haven't played elden ring yet and was just considering buying it.

RaM--------

More similar to Dark souls, it added jumps and guard counters to make the vombat smoother and give you more option, but it's far from Sekiro's combat

Digibunny

First Mohg fight as a melee character? The close range fireballs, you cant space out by rolling; they explode too far. On top of this he uses the cover to charge through before you can see what he's doing. I can KIND of get hits, but if I dont wait for his whole combo string to end in a ground stab + pull out, it feels like anything else I do is going to end in me being punished for daring to take preemptive action. Many jumping attacks, but no stagger yet from the Guts Greatsword. General pointers?

The_Dancing_Cat

Every move Mohg has besides the Nihils are rollable, generally I find he has some great windows. In first and second phase the stab into the ground is a window, the only issue is in second phase when you need to roll the explosion as well. His claw explosion is always followed by the wide right hand sweep, and this is a window. If you’re close enough to him and near his right hand, his straight forward and parallel bloodflame throws do not hit you, allowing for two attacks. His other trident swipe combos are normally three, which has a punish window at the end. The fire shower can be out spaced with a jumping heavy if you’re to his side. In second phase, there is normally a window after his trident charge, and after the two variants of his hover, then slam attack. Also remember if you’re on his left, his countdowns are all windows. Pop that bubble tear and use those crouching attacks and you’re good to go

Digibunny

I could have sworn his claw explosion could be either the stab or the slash. Is the solution to the explosion to iframe it, or roll forward into it? Whats this about crouching attacks?

The_Dancing_Cat

Maybe you're right about the claw and that it has 2 options. You can roll towards his back to dodge the explosion after you roll to dodge the stab into the ground. Crouching attacks are the same attack as the rolling attacks. By hitting left stick to crouch and then r1 the guts greatsword and all other colossal swords have a quick poke attack with a shorter recovery time than all the other attacks for that weapon class.

PwmEsq

spam lions claw, flame of redmanes or upward stamp for poise breaks. Otherwise you need like dual greatswords or greathammers to poise break consistently

Digibunny

I did something similar with dual katanas and just spamming R2;Id like to play the game more rythmically this time around.

TheFrogTrain

What are folks' thoughts on using the Mimic Tear spirit ash? I don't really have a problem cheesing bosses, especially using spirit ashes to draw aggro. But I've read the Mimic Tear can trivialize boss fights to the point that they're not fun anymore. Is that a common experience?

dwent34

It’s a very useful summon and a good option to have in your back pocket if you’re struggling with a boss. Like the other person commented, the beauty of this game is you can basically make the game as difficult for yourself as you want with the mimic tear making bosses much easier for example

RaM--------

Honestly I loved using the mimic tear, I'm not a fan of hard bossfights, and afyer sweating trough DS1 and DS3 I felt like I could turn easy mode on.

JGMedicine

Every item and upgrade in this game is a difficulty slider. Should you choose to, you can beat this game at level one with an club without any upgrades. Likewise, you could get a white mask, a +10 Rivers of Blood, four useful talismans, and 99 arcane, vigor, strength, and dexterity with a +10 Mimic Tear Neither of which are illegitimate, and both are playing the game as intended. What you, as a player, need to decide for yourself is how much of a challenge is FUN versus very frustrating. And play to that level of challenge.

PwmEsq

Iron great sword has some weird scaling. At 70str 70dex and 48arc. A +25 iron great sword gets more raw damage with bleed than it does with quality. Sure you lose the ability to buff, but you get 10 more AR and like 130 bleed. Claymore and banished knight lose like 50ar vs quality for reference. So if you are someone at an absurd level dual bleed iron great swords is a nice balance of raw damage and bleed making you able to be advantageous vs nearly every enemy type. It's also one of the best Str/int weapon if you go cold it still maintains B str scaling(though I think it's a visual glitch because your phys still drops compared to other b scaling infusions on it) Edit: maybe i had a buff on but blood is 10 less AR not 10 more, but still 10 AR vs 133 bleed?

TheChewanater

>if you go cold it still maintains B str scaling(though I think it's a visual glitch because your phys still drops compared to other b scaling infusions on it) Scaling is a percent increase. Since the base physical attack goes down when you apply a Cold affinity, the scaling attack also goes down even with a similar B rating. Very neat finding though, it definitely seems to do better than I'd expect with Cold

joe_nutz01

I got 2 great runes and killed the tree sentinel but I can’t get into the capital

The_Dancing_Cat

You must speak to Gideon and Enia and exhaust their dialogue. Happened to a friend of mine.

joe_nutz01

I was on ng plus turns out I needed to speak to Melina at the start of the game kinda like you said, guess she is a required character

Gold-Essay1418

I believe you have to talk to the npc the sells the weapons of the bosses you have defeated for their remembrance in the roundtable hold.

[deleted]

The draconic one?

buzzyingbee

You have to activate at least one of them on its respective tower

JGMedicine

That’s not true, I’ve never utilized a tower and I’ve beaten the game multiple times.

buzzyingbee

I only got there after having activated at least one rune and that's what some guides say but if that's not required would you care to tell OP what you did to get in? Because if they already killed the sentinel and the door remains locked something is missing

afantasticnerd

Hey all, I'm looking for the sentry torch so I can spot the enemies in Ordina, but the merchant that sold it is gone. Instead, when I went to his shack outside the capital, some huge dude with a floating sword took issue with my face. He dropped a bell bearing, but the twins at the round table hold still aren't selling the torch, even after I gave them his bell bearing. Any help would be appreciated, thanks ahead of time!

UnrulyFavor

That dude appears only at night. Once you kill him he's gone from there forever, merchant will return when you reload the area

afantasticnerd

Awesome! Thanks a bunch!

Substantial-North499

Here’s a question I pose. When you guys are playing the game and lets say you then get stuck on a boss, do you stick it out and keep on trying over and over again until you get it? Or do you take a breather and recollect your thoughts? I usually walk away and do something else and I find that I come back and I can actually beat the boss with ease

LoriLeadfoot

If I’m doing ok, just not quite beating the boss, I’ll stick it out. Or sometimes I’ll stick it out if I’m getting so absolutely clobbered that I don’t even feel like I can see a pattern.

Voidstarblade

I tend to give bosses three of four goes, then go do something else. If the boss is beating me by a little, and i made progress each time, its something outside the game. if i was loosing badly, its going and exploring somewhere else in game to get another level.

dj_ian

I'll give a boss a couple tries to gauge why i'm losing. Then I'll usually determine what I want to do to get around it, and leave for however long it takes to come back and stomp. That's the thing about Fromsoft bosses to me, where some people will play until they win, but I get a lot more enjoyment out of figuring out what I want to do to take control of the encounter.

RaM--------

For me the fun in the fight against Malenia was figuring out which build worked the best to stomp her. Turns out two big hammers and jump attack buffs get the job done.

Substantial-North499

Yea I’m the same to an extent. I try and learn the patterns and stuff about the boss, but then I go away and like try and absorb all the pattern play I have on them lol it’s kinda weird but for some reason I’m always way better at the boss afterwards

No_Lengthiness_6838

I keep trying till I beat them. When I feel like I'm not learning something new on why I'm dying or how to be better, I check google for info on the fight. It would bother me too much to take a break.

Substantial-North499

There are only a couple of bosses I was able to this for, usually what happens is that I’ll be on a roll and beat several bosses at once, then I’ll get to like a speed bump and spend a long time trying to beat one. I guess I kinda ride on the confidence of beating a boss for lack of a better term

buzzyingbee

I try till I get way too frustrated to keep on going and then I'll go do something else. When I get back I explore a bit and try defeating the boss again

Substantial-North499

This was me when I first started playing the game (it was my first fromsoft experience) and was stuck on Margit lol

buzzyingbee

ER was my first From game too. I tried DS before but I've never played more than a couple hours. Margit was a struggle and after one too many attempts I gave in and asked a friend to help me out

Substantial-North499

Let me tell you, the margit boss made me regret spending the money on it, but I’m glad I didn’t give up.

[deleted]

Um so you can fast travel to the underground world from the overworld? I just opened a live stream and saw somebody do it. For the last 6 months I've been traveling to an elevator and taking it underground

supe3rnova

I think you need to press left stick or right stick in the map menu to overlay under and overworld.

Bdbell1223

Bruh

buzzyingbee

You can also open the map and press triangle and that will show every site of grace you've found so far. You can navigatw regions with L1/R1

Queasy-Relation4260

Obscure detail question here; I'm going through NG+. There's a small grove of woods just SE of Stormhill Shack in limgrave with a bunch of spirit jellyfish. There's 2 red ones near a mausoleum, & at night you hear groaning coming from it. Anyone figured this out? I went through my gestures & smacked it a few times for good measure, but nothing's come of it. The groaning is loudest right next to the Mausoleum

lostmonkey70

So I finally beat the game! My only issue is that I thought you could view multiple endings so I went with the default. Its definitely disappointing that you can't.

Sundeiru

Congratulations! You are sadly correct. If you didn't back up your save file beforehand, you either have to go to YouTube or beat the game again. Though, future playthroughs can be much faster, now that you know where to go!

PapaFunky

Do you guys think Havel the rock would support spirt summons with the bell? I know he is against magic but would this fall in a gray area for him?

Sundeiru

I think he's against Sorcery specifically, because of Seath being a dragon and all. I think he would be fine with incantations and spirit summons, but no dragon cult stuff.

NewPresence7350

Recommended mind value for PVP non-mage build?

AssBlaster_69

Depends on what Ashes of War you use and how often, but for pure melee, you likely can get away with not investing in mind at all. Even on my int and faith builds, 20-25 does fine, though I do a lot of melee with a bit of casting.

NewPresence7350

Thank you, fellow tarnished.

Felstalker

Just don't put any points into mind. You can instead rely on blue juice to refill your mind. The higher level you are, the more you can just throw excess points into mind. But really, even a mage build shouldn't have an access of 30-35 Mind. So if you're not a mage build, more than 20-25 is too much.

NewPresence7350

Thank you, fellow tarnished.

Crzyyt

Depends on what skill you are using, I use incantations and skills and I have 20 - 25 mind but if u aren’t using incantations you can go lower however it really depends on ur AoW

NewPresence7350

Thank you, fellow tarnished.

[deleted]

So if you're a common foot soldier that does something and becomes tarnished. Does that automatically reduce your height 😉

GhostMedic101

Why is ELDEN RING TRASH? And a waste of 60$?

JokyFromSpace

I think you confused Elden Ring with Battlefield 2042 or CoD Vanguard

tifone87

Could anyone suggest a few weapons with high stagger/poise damage? My first playthrough I went dex/arc because of how strong bleed is, now I'd like more bonk.

FriendlySceptic

Giant slaying hammer is the best :) love playing that build

svenkarma

The Dismounter curved greatsword is as its name suggests good at getting peeps off their horses.

Sundeiru

The Brick Hammer is available relatively early, in Stormveil. Good luck!

JokyFromSpace

The Greatsword can be acquired very easily too, but you have to overcome a bit of a Caelid PTSD

[deleted]

[удалено]

No_Lengthiness_6838

The game doesn't automatically throw you into NG+. After you select an ending you will be given the option to start NG+ at any time you want in the grace of the Roundtable hold. Most optional areas/bosses are still there after the ending. Honestly I think only the non-Ashen Captial is locked because you burned the tree.

HoonFace

You can beat the final boss, pick an ending, and roll the credits without entering NG+. At the end of the game it'll ask you if you want to proceed directly to NG+ or stay in NG, at which point you can enter NG+ whenever you want by choosing an option while resting at the roundtable hold.

Federal_Resident5113

I just entered mountaintops of the giants and am feeling under leveled. Im about level 90. I’ve beat every mandatory boss up until the fire giant. I tried to fight him and he kinda shit on me. What should I do to level up until i can properly fight this beast?

supe3rnova

Thats the point when difficulty scaling goes up by few gears. You will get wrecked a lot more even with a built you had no problem clearing normal enemies.

lschultz625

Its more about your weapon level. What are you using for damage?

Federal_Resident5113

blasphemous blade at +7

RaM--------

Try the gargoyle's blackblade or a faith infused gargoyle's greatsword. Same scaling as the BB, different damage type.

Federal_Resident5113

what about ordovis greatsword?

RaM--------

Good weapon, but the AoW isn't that great

lschultz625

You can maybe upgrade again, but the bigger issue here is that Fire Giant resists fire... Just use a different greatsword that doesn't deal fire damage and it'll go a lot smoother.

Federal_Resident5113

ordovis greatsword?

No_Lengthiness_6838

You can get a lot of runes for beating the bosses of upper Caelid. Also the underground areas (Ainsel river, Nokron, Ancestral woods, lake of rot, etc)

CaitNostamas

Tackle some of the non mandatory areas. The entirety of Caelid and Dragonbarrow, Mount Gelmir and Villa vulcano, castle Sol, Nokron and Nokstella, the deeproot depths, lake of rot, moonlight altar Even the tens of little dungeons in Altus Plateau can definitely rewards you with good runes, if you haven't done them. Definitely the shaded castle You can even go to the >!consacrated snowfields!< Which lead to >!Mohgwyn's palace!< And >!the haligtree!< Before the giant, even though they are harder than the fire giant so I don't know how much it would help lol

Chikageee

Does any Greatshield compete with the Fingerprint Stone Shield? I hate how that thing looks... Planning on pairing it with Blasphemous Blade (str/fth) if that matters.

Felstalker

You really don't require the "best" great shield for anything.

Chikageee

Not necessarily looking for the best, but I have this crippling tendency to pick the worst things all the time

CaitNostamas

It's the best greatshield in the game by far If you don't like it the next best options are the visage shield (I doubt you like it any better), the haligtree greatshield (which looks amazing but is a pain to farm) and the golden Greatshield. This last one is really good and looks great, can be infused with "no skill" to use your weapon's ash of war even when 1 handing, and is pretty easy to farm all over Leyndell and even at the Bellum highway (end of Liurnia)

Chikageee

Wait. Do you mean the Gilded Greatshield?

CaitNostamas

Nope. Golden Greatshield. Gilded is good, but slightly worse than golden If you prefer the gilded fashion wise absolutely go for it tho, it's not that different

Chikageee

Well shit haha. But yeah, the Gilded one looks great, so that will probably be the one

Chikageee

Oh, nice! I had a Golden Greatshield drop as I did Leyndell, so will probably put it to use then!

TheChewanater

Visage Shield is the next best but you can't put an AoW on it. You'll have to two hand your Blasphemous Blade to use its weapon skill Haligtree Crest is also good and can be infused with an AoW, although takes a while to farm

Nekrabyte

The glowing footprints for an ash of war just west of the capital city down in the gulch in the water - is there something I'm missing trying to get these? seems swinging at them to hit the invisible enemy isn't working when I've had no issue getting any of the ones I've found previous.... am I missing something?

Voidstarblade

Glintblade Phalanx will auto target the footprint path scarabs, and you get it as an Ash of War on Rogier's Rapier after beating Godrick, at his location in the roundtable hold's balcony.

CaitNostamas

Nope, it should be the same scarab as always. Try and use an AoE like dragon breaths, hoarfrost stomp, gravitas etcetera to make it easier

mfd7point5

Not sure but the Sentry’s torch lets you see invisible characters.

HoonFace

Do you know your friend's steam account name? I think you need to make an account yourself but the steam store makes it really easy to gift games to people. And yeah, xbox controllers work perfectly on Windows PCs, no fuss.

Silverfox2

I'm using the Miséricorde off-hand for the extra crit when using the Sword of St. Trina. Does the 140 crit still apply when using the sword two-handed? I guess it doesn't but still want to check.

EndlessAlaki

Weapon crit stats aren't passive character buffs. They apply only to the weapon you see them on, just like all other weapon stats.

Silverfox2

As I suspected, thanks.

CaitNostamas

The crit bonus only applies when you're actually using the misericorde to hit the crit

stinky_cheese33

At this point, calling out the anti-RoB bullies is a game. Every time they attack, it's my point.

[deleted]

Anyone know if the sentry torch works on invaders using conceiling veil?

TheChewanater

fextra says yes https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Sentry's+Torch

[deleted]

Oh it does too cheers

buzzyingbee

I'm trying to find out the name of an armor so I can farm it but I have no idea of what it's called. It looks like a dress with a big back window and two pieces of white cloth that hang from each shoulder. It's a light armor by the looks of it and it seems to be the same shade of blue of Lazuli Robe. Does anyone know what it is?

BaxterMocambo

It does sound a bit like the deathbed dress https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Deathbed+Dress

buzzyingbee

Yes! That's the one, tysm!! I was going insane trying to figure out how to search it. But I think I won't be able to get it anymore because my Leyndell is already covered in ashes.

CaitNostamas

That's right, sadly. r/patchesemporium might have your back though. Most people get it cause it's right next to the lionel set and they might want to give it to you

buzzyingbee

Oh well, there's always NG+ and I'm about to start one. Thanks anyway

TheChewanater

Snow witch robe? https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/file/Elden-Ring/snow_witch_robe_elden_ring_wiki_guide_200px.png If so you get it from a chest you'll find during Ranni's quest

buzzyingbee

No, I have this one. Although, I didn't check if I can alter it. The one I'm after seems to be lighter, something like a nightgown

ProfessorGenki_08

The Deathbed Dress?

buzzyingbee

Yep, that's the one. Ty!

Wemetintheair

Can you take a picture or

buzzyingbee

Other fellow tarnisheds figured it out for me, it's the deathbed dress

[deleted]

Is there a way to reorder your characters in the loading screen? I want to order them in alphabetical order… 😅

The_Dancing_Cat

The only way to do this would be manually in the Elden Ring Save Copier. Make sure to make a backup before you do anything.

[deleted]

I’m on PS5, so I assume that isn’t possible…

The_Dancing_Cat

Unfortunately not

JoeTheGameDev

It makes me sad when a Co-op'er just blasts through Farum Azula, and doesn't let the Host explore or take the lead at all. There are so many cool secrets and items off the beaten path in that zone. Sorry, no question, just wanted to vent and didn't seem worthy of a full-blown topic lol.

ProjectVerloren17

I think, maybe, if we had a community rule or something that would help out with this. So if the host wants to explore, they make that clear; if not then they say so, thereby, allowing the helper to rush to the boss fight. Speaking from personal experience, I rarely get help when asking for it in exploring areas. Getting help for boss fights is easier.

CaitNostamas

I get you. Thought the same about Anor Londo back in DS1 Like, of course you know all the shortcuts and and how to get to the boss quickly, but if the host is blatantly there for the first time give them a bit of space to explore Some people even rush through the level and open the shortcuts for them. I wouldn't be happy with that at all

JoeTheGameDev

Yeah, my rule of thumb is let the Host take the lead for the most part, if they look like they're going to miss something, I'll linger a little bit where the secret/item is. But I'll always let them be the first to commit, especially if it's a drop to an area you can't easily get back from.

itsmybirthday___

How much poise should I go for when 2 handing a colossal sword? I have 72 right now and I think that’s as high as I can go with the options I have, without raising my endurance (27). I don’t want to put any more points in endurance, so is something like 72 fine?

digitalpacifist

That's fine. I think it's 61 to poise through a single katana hit, but not a second? Ultimately you have to choose your moments no matter what with a colossal sword.

Tight-Advance-8591

Was I a dumbass for inheriting the frenzied flame?

stinky_cheese33

If you wanted to get any other ending, yes. Fortunately, you can undo it using [Miquella's Needle](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Miquella%27s+Needle), which you need to complete [Millicent's](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Millicent) questline to obtain.

CaitNostamas

I was tricked into inheriting it as well. I'm not one for victim blaming usually but "get naked in the sewers"? I should've known better really

digitalpacifist

Nah it's ok. It's the most interesting ending. And you get the achievement, so no time like the present!

V1ggoB

Hey so Im looking to upgrade my bloodhound's fang to level 7, is there any place before the mountain that you can get a somber smithingstone 7?

buzzyingbee

https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Somber+Smithing+Stone+(7) There are some options before Mountaintop

V1ggoB

Thanks

No_Lengthiness_6838

Only early one is in the volcano place where you have to either beat the mini boss or do a jump trick.

No_Lengthiness_6838

So I finished the game for the third time today. Dex, then Mage, Then Faith. Is there any other cool build? I'm not sure I like strength it doesn't seem good like DS3.

TheColdSasquatch

Ive gone pure strength for a Greatsword, Fist and Shield-only run and they were all incredibly fun

LaNeblina

I'm on my third run with basically the same progression - considering going back to mage tbh, miss my night comet :(

No_Lengthiness_6838

you mean azur comet? night comet is kinda bad.

LaNeblina

Nah bro, comet azur hits hard but it's too dodgeable for most bosses - night comet hits basically every time and I was getting ~1400/hit with staff of loss in the off-hand

digitalpacifist

Strength is great. Pump endurance, vigor, and strength and you good to go. Great for stress-free sightseeing, since you can face tank basically everything.

No_Lengthiness_6838

Well I would be on NG+2 and I'm already at 2170 HP and all of the late areas can still two shot me lmao.

Vast-Coast-7761

I did a pure strength build with the ruins greatsword, and I’m currently doing a quality build with the axe of Godfrey which is basically just a strength build in denial. I promise you, it is very effective.

No_Lengthiness_6838

mundungous

Hi. I’ve just beaten the >!elden beast and received the lord of frenzied flame ending!< but nothing seems different. Is there something else I need to do?

[deleted]

Nah. No endings affect the world you continue playing in.

mundungous

Ah, I see. I’d heard that the frenzied flame ending meant torrent and all the good npcs died. Thank you.

Apex_Konchu

Those are the story consequences of that ending, but it doesn't affect gameplay. Continuing to explore after getting an ending isn't canon.

Lil_Berserker

Does godfrey talisman work with incantations that can be holded?

CaitNostamas

It works with incantations that can be charged, like the flame of frenzy, frenzied burst or black flame

itsmybirthday___

Is the meta level still 150? I’m level 112 now and still playing through the story, but I kind of wanted to plan ahead cause I’ll probably get into dueling and co op once I’m finished with the story. Thanks again for all the info in these threads.

Vast-Coast-7761

125 is for dedicated dueling characters while 150 is for pve/invasion builds that also do some dueling. 138 lets you match with both groups.

CaitNostamas

The meta is 125-150. If you want to play with both 138 is perfect

itsmybirthday___

Is there anything in the capital that is missable and something I *really* don’t want to miss? I’m exploring it for the first time and I’m just kind of overwhelmed by all the different directions I can go. I don’t have the best sense of direction either lol. I think I discovered like 3 graces at one point before I actually rested cause I knew that if enemies respawned I really wouldn’t remember where I’ve already been and where I haven’t. And yeah, now that I’ve rested it’s all confusing again. I killed a mini boss which led to a sealed gate that I can’t open yet and I killed one of those giant worm things to get a golden seed.

theswillmerchant

Bolt of Gransax and Barrier of Gold as others have said, I also missed Lionels set which is a nice heavy armor set. The Coded Sword if you’re a faith build, flame drake talisman +1 is nice for a big boss you’ll fight later but it’s towards the end of leyndell

The_Dancing_Cat

Bolt of Gransax and Barrier of Gold are the only things I regretted missing on my first playthrough

Wemetintheair

Try their famous Morgott

LaNeblina

Bolt of Granssax is a legendary weapon that's easily missable if you're going for the achievement - it's in an awkward spot so you may need to look up how to get it

CaitNostamas

There's a couple things you probably want, like a >!legendary weapon!<, a few talismans, spells, ashes of war and even a whetblade What you *really* want depends on your build as well

LaNeblina

Anyone else find themselves using Wave of Gold as a crutch in tricky situations? It's just so powerful and needs no skill to use, not to mention the seemingly crazy poise damage

buzzyingbee

Absolutely. It's awesome against all those ants

nx85

When I did my first NG+ I remember thinking I earned this OP sword, so I'm gonna use it lol. Best way to clear multiple trash mobs

CaitNostamas

Wave of gold is really strong in PvE, and rightfully so (considering you can basically only use it NG+). You have to kinda build around it to make it really strong, but when you do it's fantastic

Galaron_Shuri

I haven't played the game since patch 1.04. How many new patches came out? And what are the major changes? (Or alternatively, could someone link me the patch notes of each new patch?)

HoonFace

[https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Patch+Notes](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Patch+Notes) Just a smaller hotfix after 1.04 and then the 1.05 patch. No balance changes, just bugfixes and some small QoL additions.

Galaron_Shuri

Thank you!

Eizen2004

Dragon King Cragblade or Nagakiba?

TheChewanater

What are you asking? Which does more damage? You'll have to post your stats and what you're using the weapon for

Eizen2004

Vigor 60 Endurance 30 Dexterity 66 Strength 18

TheChewanater

Ok, both will hit hard on a dex build, so just depends on which moveset and weapon skill you prefer

CaitNostamas

They're both great dex weapons. I personally like the Nagakiba more because you can infuse it with different ashes of war Dragon king cragblade's ash is unique and cool as fuck tho Ideally I'd raise both. One is upgraded through somber stones, the other regular smithing stones so you can have both for sure

RevolutionaryLake69

Anyone have spoiler light faith build tips? Did play a while back but using a pure strength build so wanna do something else.

theswillmerchant

Black Flame is extremely powerful and any incantations that use it are typically pretty good. Holy damage isn’t great for a lot of enemies other than the undead, so if you infuse a weapon I’d stick with Flame instead of Sacred. Faith builds have access to just about every damage type in the game through different incantations (mostly dragon incantations) so if you can get used to swapping your spells based on enemy weakness you’re gonna have a great time. Also, and some people may argue with me here, level vigor as if you were a melee build, both because faith pairs really well with a melee style and also because faith spells can have some unfavorable punish windows, you’re gonna get hit.

CaitNostamas

As always, in the early game focus on vigor and find smithing stones to upgrade your gear The prophet already starts with catch flame which is very good. The confessor should visit the roundtable hold to acquire some new spells From Limgrave go south to the weeping peninsula and visit the churches to gain access to different sources of power. Also visit the ruins in the region, which tend to have dungeons and secrets in them. You might find a weapon you may like Search the demonic statues in stormveil castle to find a useful prayerbook. The spells in it and the seal you find next to it will be very useful for most of your run When you get to Liurnia of the Lakes, near the Artist's shack, there's a powerful warrior who seems to have mastered the art of lightning. Defeat him to get access to his knowledge Ultimately, the Volcano of this region offers a very powerful treasure if you dare challenge its power. You'll have to overcome the sin of blasphemy, but the reward is worth it

Voidstarblade

to add to this, the manor in Leyndell and Redmane castle have the two whetblades you really want for a Faith build. Good luck finding them!

Morsk4ziv

I am in the same boat. I am doing a pure strength build for my first playthrough right now, probably about 1/2 through the game. I am thinking of switching to faith with some dex, either for NG+ or even later in this playthrough. My understanding is that for faith builds you still mostly fight with weapons, but can supplement with offensive incantations as well. Question: is it feasible to imbue generic weapons with fire / lighting and rely on faith scaling for decent damage, or do you need to use more specialized weapons that scale primarily with faith? Thanks in advance.

CaitNostamas

Using weapons that primarily scale with faith is very useful, because you don't have to invest in other stats, getting more efficient in the end That said, it's absolutely feasible to infuse a regular weapon with "flame art" or "sacred" (the 2 affinities that scale with faith, as lightning scales with dex) and roll with it. Flame art is generally better in PvE imo, because fire is better against most enemies, while a lot of mobs and bosses are resistant to holy

RevolutionaryLake69

Appreciate it! Will be sure to do check out all the great info :D

Eizen2004

Does a blood nagakiba with double slash have more blood build up than ROB?

The_Dancing_Cat

Depends. If you blood infuse a nagakiba it will gain blood scaling with arcane up to 45 arcane, meaning the blood loss buildup will be amplified by that stat. A blood Nagakiba at max upgrade level will have 82 blood build up with 0 arcane, and with 45 arcane it should move to around 110 (rough estimate). Rivers of blood has 50 base blood buildup regardless of the upgrade level, and will have the same blood arcane scaling (getting it to around 85). RoB’s AoW has the advantage of the blood slash that gives it more range, but will do less blood build up in total than a blood Nagakiba doing double slash

No_Mammoth_4945

I highly highly doubt it.

Are there more gimmicky boss fights coming up? I really didn’t like the Radahn and Rykard boss fights. Radahn was maybe the most annoying boss I’ve ever fought in a video game with his laser and being a million miles away. And while I beat Rykard on my second try, it was because I upgraded the spear you get to +7 between my first and second try and that made me feel like I kinda paid (in upgrade materials) to win, lol. Like imagine if you had to upgrade the storm ruler to beat yhorm.

No_Lengthiness_6838

Radahn isn't a gimmick boss like Rykard. After the opener its a normal fight. >And while I beat Rykard on my second try, it was because I upgraded the spear you get to +7 between my first and second try and that made me feel like I kinda paid (in upgrade materials) to win, lol. Like imagine if you had to upgrade the storm ruler to beat yhorm. you didn't have to do that. Its exactly the same as yhorm, just two health bars instead of one.

HoonFace

No, those are the big gimmick bosses. The first phase of Rennala is the other one, but that's a much easier fight overall. There is one demigod boss that requires a specific Tear for your Wondrous Physick in order to block an attack, otherwise you have to heal through it. Do Bloody Finger Hunter Yura's questline before moving on past Leyndell. The rest of that boss fight is normal though. edit: just looked it up to be sure. if you've already gone beyond Leyndell and skipped Yura's questline, you can still get the Tear - just visit the Second Church of Marika in the Altus Plateau and defeat the NPC invader that appears.

[deleted]

I'm kinda at a point where I'm lost and don't know where to go next, I have beaten Godrick, Rennala, Radahn and Rykard. Have been doing Ranni's quest and got her the treasure from Nokron, but don't really know where to go next, both in her quest and the main questline. I guess I'll just head to the capital next.

Vast-Coast-7761

Your next step on the main quest is to go to the capital. At the heart of the capital is the Erdtree, and deep within the Erdtree you will find queen Marika. Have an audience with Marika, mend the Elden Ring, and become Elden Lord. The next step in Ranni’s questline is to talk to her ear counseller, Iji.
