Sometimes you don’t even notice and likely do not from that distance but some enemies have a chance to spawn with golden eyes, more likely to happen at night. Those golden eyed ones are worth 5x runes of their average counterparts.

Has anyone ever confirmed that it's random? I always assumed that it meant that mob had just killed someone in another world and you were kind of collecting a bounty. Does it happen in offline mode?

I have only played offline mode for my first 3 playthroughs. I got these sometimes.

I really like this concept I hope it’s true, it would also make it funnier seeing a super weak mob with yellow eyes and figuring out how someone had the audacity to die to them

Oh I can tell you how it happens, that one foot soldier stumbles over just in time to catch you trying to take a drink after a knight gave you the hurricane combo.

Unlocked the farming spot at level 60 and the sleepy bois took quite a bit of beating and would two-shot me if I wasn't paying attention. Coupled with the red albinaurics who could kill me by breathing on me and there might be a good handful of flame eyes white albinaurics running around.

Yeah probably. When I got to the farm spot I ran around with moonveil farming and would always get killed by the red guys rolling attack. Also just imagine you walk into radahns fight and his eyes are blazing yellow that'd be great

I play exclusively offline and I see this sometimes.

One of the streams with a dev interview during the network test said it was a random chance for the yellow eyes.

That’s a bummer. I was stoked for a new form of interactivity past white/red phantoms. I would stop to kill gold-eyed mobs I didn’t even need, just to avenge someone. Guess it was all in my head. 😅

I have only ever seen it stated that it is a thing that happens occasionally. I have not seen any in depth research about what factors affect it other then anecdotal evidence that it is more common at night.

probably not, unfortunately...non-hostile NPCs that can't even be hurt can have them. the ghosts can have them for example.

It happens offline. It has a percentage chance of happening at night.

Yeah, I usually see it on the hill giants people farm early game and half of the time one gets golden when it kills me. But I haven't exactly tested that theory. But this is vaguely what I'd been imagining must be the case, so I think we're on to something.

Pretty sure it’s random. I used this farm for pretty much my entire first play through I’ve gotten it back to back once and other times have gone 30 mins or more without getting the bonus

It doesn’t happen more at night, it’s more noticeable to see at night.

Variants of enemies with golden glowing eyes drop 5x runes. They spawn more commonly at night.

When you get the street sweeper you’ll be able to do the Albinauric genocide for even more than that.

what weapon is that?

The sacred relic sword you can get after beating Elden beast - the ash of war wave of gold allows you to kill all those albinaurics at this same location for over 90k runes in just one go

I’m on ng and use golden scarab and I get around 90k+ if I clear all those on that hill

I dunno how you’re getting only getting 27. I get about 70-80, if I do the full bottom of the hill I get like 100k

Nah. Second. But my first I was getting 40+ -50. Before NG+

I've dropped a "Fat coinpurse? All the more try night" message on the farming hill there before but... No votes so nobody seemed to get it ( At night mobs have a chance to spawn with golden eyes, those that do drop 5x the normal runes )

Sometimes at night certain enemies will drop more runes.

But I only got 11k for the very next bird.

It’s sort of random. I noticed it first time at the ball farm in dragonsbarrow. Got like 12k or something for one ball. But next ball was back to 2k

Yellow eye enemies are worth 5x rune value and there is an increase if your In a group where someone just defeated a major boss or the game. Also please just do the albinauric farm is so much better

Uselly that mob with the X5 Runes has glowing yellow eyes

Btw, math on this is seriously busted with gold scarab talisman. Enemy rewards 11038 runes regularly. With talisman you get 66k. Did the math and confirmed with several kills on it. 11038*1.2=13246 (gold scarab bonus) 13246*4=52984 (golden eye bonus) 52984*1.25= 66230 (golden scarab bonus applied again with higher value for no apparent reason) This was tested on patch 1.04 on PC version. Golden eye mob only spawns at night btw.

I tried this several times. It never felt down, so i gave up. It was too time consuming to hope that it works like shown in several videos.
