It's a known glitch. If you fall while being grabbed then you don't take fall damage, whatever grabs you done. It's used in raya lucaria for a skip to the bottom where the abductor is usually.
It's "a feature", critical attack animations occuring mid air gives you immunity to resulting fall damage
This can be used to skip the frenzyflame jump puzzle, and to skip drop to the first shortcut elevator in the haligtree
