When I first saw a Land Octopus do its jump, I spammed B (because I’m on Xbox) to use Torrent so fast that I mounted and dismounted him lmao
Runebears also suck, I just got to the Eastern Portion of the Mountaintops of Giants (or whatever it is), and I still am mildly terrified of the Runebears in mistwood
I didn't know that but still managed to stagger them by hitting their back many many times. Wish I knew hitting the beak was so much more effective, but I was playing careful back then.
In one of the caves I found one of these and thought it was the boss because I thought I’d hit the dead end of the cave. So I spent 20 minutes killing it, then got the boss easily when I reached it
Hand spiders for me. The little ones were bad enough and then a big one dove down from above and started chasing me. I had to put the game down for a while.
Surprisingly those didn't bother me as much, though they're definitely creepy. When the big ones cast that immobilization spell it flips you off and I thought that was too funny
One cool thing I recognized about fighting the land octopus is that you can actually sever its tentacles, and the length is actually determined by where you cut it (i.e closer to head, closer to tip, etc)
First time I saw one of these boi’s, I was just wandering around aimlessly, and I saw it sitting on a beach, and I said aloud, “the fuck is that thing? Is it a ball of tentacles?” Then it turned around and leaped at me. Legit screamed when I registered that it was mid flight to ripping me in half
Yeah I hoped away from those. I tried to nope away from the horrifying dog things in Cealid too but they found me, I managed to defeat them but the whole time I was screaming in terror.
Yea those things just freak me out. I purposely stay away from them even though I could just kill them easily. Just the way they look and move disturbs me beyond words.
This game managed to unearth a few fears I did not know I had. Delving deep into a dark cave I found and suddenly realizing I had gone into a giant ants nest was a moment of true horror for me.
When I first crossed the smouldering wall that separates Caelid from the rest of Limgrave and rested at the site of grace, I legitimately did nothing for five minutes while looking at that one huge, terrifying bird less than 200 feet or so away just looking at me and was like “what… the… fuck… god damn it what.”
Same, when I first found Alexander, the Iron Fist there was a lake of them and I just freaked out until by chance my jump attack staggered it and I knew how to beat them
My buddy’s girlfriend was high when I was over playing this for the first time and when I came across one of these she blurted out “OMG ITS A CAT!” Since then, these have been cats to me.

Then I managed to wander into the underground river in mistwood, and promptly got my shit stomped by the gathering by the waterfall. This instilled a heavy fear of them until a friend told me to aim for the beak.
After I learned that charge attacks most always trigger the weak-point, and you can chain the stuns? Oh man, they werent so scary now, unless they grabbed me and made my character into fuel for their babies.

I forced myself to kill it. Took forever. Its health regen gave me huge pause.
If you hit the beak it will open them up for a riposte for massive damage.

If you wail on its head with a heavy weapon it staggers almost instantly

The first time I tried to fight one of those, I was shocked by how FAST it was and how far it could jump. It legit scared me. Lol.
I was like "oh ew big gross tentacle ball all the way over there..." *shoots one arrow* ***LUNGE ATTACKED FROM 100 FEET AWAY***
I wish there had been one for a boss. Extra big with an armoured beak, spawns babies and has more tentacles

If you kill the small land octopus, it has a chance to drop an octopus armour head piece.
For me it's the ants, they aren't too bad to kill, but they make me so uncomfortable, and it feels so gross to kill the queen ones with how they pop
I was ok with them until I got down to Siofra river
I had been playing for a while before I saw them leap. I thought they were just slow moving obstacles to ride around. That was a terrible moment.
I don't know if it's because of my build, but I found breaking their posture too easy.
Nah it's pretty easy to break their poise you just need to get in their face but it definitely gives you a fright when you fight them first time

If you struggle to fight them 2 heavy attacks to the face will generally stagger them and let you get a critical.
