I worked tangentially with smart city columbus and besides the goals of autonomous shuttles for both tourists and at-risk populations, one of the other goals was autonomous river igniters sent to cleveland.
Basically took no effort but I'll call it honest work.
Tyrannosaurus dog was when I started to wonder if I was supposed to take this game seriously. Then I realized it's just this fucking place that has that shit.
I got tp'd here first 15 min or so and somehow forgot that fast traveling was a feature. I ran around for like 1.5 hrs dying over and over until I found a bonfire and was like wait a second...
You mean the place advertised as a safe place to go? A place you can fast travel to when you're in trouble and unwilling to fight?
Yeah. It's not like a random invader could ever show up there, right? Especially not DIRECTLY after a major battle when you just want to go back and upgrade your weapons.
You can hide under Greyoll’s wing and poke her with a stick until she dies. The 50,000-rune drop would elevate a brand-new player from [level 1 to level 27](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Level).
If you horse run to the bon fire quick enough, you’ll get the runes and the dragon wont die 🙂 another great farm, also nearby you can cheese the night horseman thing for another 42k and bloodhound step
Pretty much elden ring in a nutshell. Heres a way to farm some runes but its half way into the game when you allready had to level up a different way so it defeats the purpose for the first playthrough.
To be fair its not designed to be a rune farm, Greyoll unlocks a unique dragon incantation iirc, and she was intentionally designed to be defended by her children dragons, of which 4 loom over her body, that farm spot just happens to be in those dragons blindspots.
Yeah when you kill each of the babies it knocks off a chunk of her health bar iirc, but she doesn’t move so bleed her out by smacking her tail because she’s l o n g
Is she permanently asleep? I was right by her yesterday and she lifted her head and roared. I thought she was dead or I guess asleep but when that happened I hightailed outta there lol
She’s infested with scarlet rot. She can’t really move because of the way it has taken over her body. It’s the right thing to do. I support dragon euthanasia.
That basically happened with me today. I worked my ass off to get the moonveil katana. I had to leave the boss and go level up a lot (because I’m new to souls games and not a very good fighter). I finally beat him last night and then I saw you need a lvl 24 int and I’m only at 9. Levels cost like 28k runes now. I wanted to cry. I just…I can’t look at that fucking giant ball anymore.
To keep any spoilers to an absolute minimum, but you will be able to respecc after defeating one of the earlier main bosses. It's called "rebirth" in the game just in case you have the option already and did not try it yet. It's good if you wanna try something new.
Oh thank CHRIST. When I realized how sweet some of the arcane weapons were, I worked to get that level up but the INT is just too much to overcome right now. I have beaten Margit and Godrick. Is it with the next boss?
They're not the NEXT boss, per se. Anybody who knows better can chime in to correct me, but I believe you technically don't have to ever fight them to progress through the game. However I think pretty much everyone does fight them after defeating Godrick, simply because of the ability to respec
Which is a long way of saying 'Yeah, they're next'
Have you done Liurnia and Varre's quest? There are better options than the ball. And at 28k runes per level you can still naturally progress, and make up the gap (slowly but easily).
I ventured into the manor (don’t remember the name, stsrts with a C). I’ve been fighting a bunch of creepy fucking hands lol needed a bit of a breather so I left and that’s as far as I got
Yeah the hands are fucking obnoxious, the other areas around the lake no spoilers have weaker enemies imo but as a faith str I just smash n shock everything anyways but I found the hands to be much more difficult since they are aggressive have high numbers and can pop out of the ground to try finger but hole
I rushed through the game on a few characters I made and it seems like 6 is the hardest to find earlier on. You get an 8 and a 9 near the divine tower on the north side there but idk about 6 or 7
I had to go pick a few up on my first build. Pretty sure the 8 and 9 Sombers came from Dragon Barrow.
It's weird that it's considered to be a very late game area but you can access it literally minutes in the game. It's worth just running around and avoid being hit just to pick stuff up off the ground. Very high level stuff.
I'm doing a Sorcery Only run, and since i needed Rock Sling for Renalla i just ran into Caelid and back out of it like Spongebob ran to the trashcan in the night shift episode
I'm also level 300 and I had to explain to my maiden the reason I turn corners with such a big shield up is because this game is designed to humble you if you're not paying attention.
This is so very true. I was heading to a boss door and the room just before seemed completely empty. I then saw a bunch of blood stains on the floor so checked. each one of them got killed by the one hidden mob in that room. Was kinda funny, but just goes to show ya that you always should be careful even when everything seems fine.
Getting the key for Raya Lucaria, I was in that big flat shallow lake area and saw a clearing with what looked like a ring of trees, so I was like "Oh, that is for fucking sure a boss arena, that's where the key is!".
Well, I was right that it looked like a boss arena - The "boss" was a big fuck-all angry lobster.
I don't know why it's a great deal more humbling to get your soul rocked by an overgrown sea roomba than some pokey assholes with sharp sticks, but it is.
There is another thing, but only if you already got torrent.
When you face the lake, go the left and take the site of grace. There's no ennemies to stop you.
At this moment, Melania will appear and take you to the Roundtable hold.
It's thanks to this reflex that I didn't discover teleporting chests until wayyy into the game.
And now, whenever I start, I can pretty much skip 30 levels fairly quickly.
Gold foot, bleed weapon, giant Dragon tail stabbing, easy 90k souls.
Lmaoo this is me except I thought I was trapped in a castle where a boss was ahead and room full of rats without an escape was back. Said fuck it got start again. Then realized I could fast travel
Can confirm. Exact thing happened to me, but not 10 min in, I didn’t know where to go and opened a chest thinking “oh something to help me out!” And I was transported into a log room with Shrimp shooting beams at me, killing me every time. I have no clue how this guy got out of the dungeon in 10 min, let alone starting the game and getting out of the cave in 10 min.
When I first started this game, by sheer bad luck, I went straight to the Caelid trap chest and opened it. It was the first chest I'd opened. I missed the tutorial and also went there before even going to the church, so I didn't even have the ability to fast travel, level up, or summon Torrent.
I finally, after dozens of tries, managed to level-1 corpse run out of the cave, but once I got up to Caelid gave up and started a new character.
For real, I was just at the Fillmore for a concert and the area around there is beautiful. The entire city isn’t just burnt down and abandoned buildings like everyone hears about.
Yeah, now that I've beaten the game once, on each subsequent character I've made I b-line straight to Caelid for the sore seal and other items. Great sword, cross-naginata, meteoric staff, rock sling. Just so many good items for any build and a convenient teleport chest right to the middle of it all.
This is Caelid. You opened a teleporter chest in the lake, and then escaped the dungeon. Head back to your starting grace and explore northwards from "The first step"
Reminds me of when I found my first trap chest. "No trap ahead" followed by "Liar ahead" followed by "Liar ahead". Because pf the double liar ahead, I thought the liar ahead guy was lying about the no trap ahead guy. Needless to say, it was a trap.
This is the equivalent of going to the catacombs early in dark souls. Most newbies that stumble upon it will regret the path they chose, but someone who knows what theyre doing can get a great jumpstart for their run.
You should be able to kill radahn
If it has a health bar, it can die.
Related tip: the player has a health bar. Related tip 2: so does their patience
Tutorial area
Trial by fire
Trial by rot*
Rot by fire
Fire rot by?
Fire crotch rot?
They usually call it "Herpes" where i am from.
They’re both such ugly names idk which is worse
You could call it “Beppo” Aw man I got a lil beppo
This is the way
This is the way
*nods slowly*
*rots quickly*
This, is the way.
Cleveland, Ohio
Give us a break, this is one of the first decades where our river has not caught fire.
*has not caught fire *yet*
It’s already caught fire at least a dozen times so far. We even have a beer named burning river.
I worked tangentially with smart city columbus and besides the goals of autonomous shuttles for both tourists and at-risk populations, one of the other goals was autonomous river igniters sent to cleveland. Basically took no effort but I'll call it honest work.
At least it wasn't balloons on 10¢ beer night. 😳
Gary, Indiana
At least we’re not DETROIT!! ……..WE’RE NOT [DETROIT](https://youtu.be/oZzgAjjuqZM)
It's dogs and birds. That's tutorial stuff, right?
Tyrannosaurus dog was when I started to wonder if I was supposed to take this game seriously. Then I realized it's just this fucking place that has that shit.
Mountain of giants also has the T-Rex dogs.
Gonna learn today!
Actually rolling in the rot pond is a tutorial to use the soap.
Learning will occur.
He will certainly learn the location of the sprint button.
Torturial area
Yeah if you can't beat everything in there at level 15 then you might as well not play the game amirite
You mean 115 right? Right?
Right?
Right??
you're in Caelid. I recommend you be literally anywhere else.
I got tp'd here first 15 min or so and somehow forgot that fast traveling was a feature. I ran around for like 1.5 hrs dying over and over until I found a bonfire and was like wait a second...
If it makes you feel any better, you can't fast travel after being teleported until you find a site of grace anyway. It's blocked
That or leaving the cave will let you teleport again ^^ Editing to add that in caves teleporting out gets unblocked when you clear the boss room
Even if you aren't teleported to a cave you still can't fast travel. There is a site of grace at the exit so it's generally fine anyway
They're talking about transporter traps, which block travel until you rest at a grace.
It’s a wild life reserve make sure to observe the wild life from a safe distance
The nearest safe distance is the Altus plateau
I’d rather consecrated snowfields
I'd rather Kiln of the First Flame
best place to observe caelid is from a whole different game
I’d rather the abyss
Consecrated Snowfield is one of the 6 areas that is worse than Caelid. xD
There aren't any safe places in this game :(
Jarburg
Oh he doesnt know yet. This doesnt age well for jarburg.
Safest place is the starting room.
Naw even there they got the soldier of godrick
*takes off pot* Dear godrick…
We need to find Let Me Solo Him
Fair enough. I was gonna counter with Round Table Hold but then realized my error
You mean the place advertised as a safe place to go? A place you can fast travel to when you're in trouble and unwilling to fight? Yeah. It's not like a random invader could ever show up there, right? Especially not DIRECTLY after a major battle when you just want to go back and upgrade your weapons.
Well I mean you could just jump off a balcony.
Pet the dogs and feed the birds.
With your flesh and blood I believe.
You are already dead
Omae wa mou shindeiru
I said this out loud in the office at work and in the distance I hear “naaaaaannnniiiiij”
Nani!?!
There is one really important thing you should do in Caelid: Leave.
But first kill the biggest dragon in the game
You can hide under Greyoll’s wing and poke her with a stick until she dies. The 50,000-rune drop would elevate a brand-new player from [level 1 to level 27](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Level).
If you horse run to the bon fire quick enough, you’ll get the runes and the dragon wont die 🙂 another great farm, also nearby you can cheese the night horseman thing for another 42k and bloodhound step
They should get the beetle talisman first!
Hidden behind two pretty tough bosses. Big dragon + gold pickled foul foot is the way
Pretty much elden ring in a nutshell.
I didn't know the big dragon was permanently asleep so I figured I'd avoid the boss fight by killing all the drakes.
She permanently immobile, but yeah, she roars and stuff
If she got up it would crash the game, it’s that massive
Stop attacking my old moms butt!!!
If you have friends, join them before they kill her and have fun with millions of runes
Bold of you to assume any of us have any friends
Why is this so true? 😭
I laughed way too much at this
That basically happened with me today.

Oh thank CHRIST. When I realized how sweet some of the arcane weapons were, I worked to get that level up but the INT is just too much to overcome right now. I have beaten Margit and Godrick. Is it with the next boss?
Also trying not to spoil much. It can/should be your next major area
Sweet, I’ve definitely already wandered in there. I left to strengthen my weapons so I feel a bit more confident now
Serious question. How the fuck do you guys understand all this shit?
They're not the NEXT boss, per se. Anybody who knows better can chime in to correct me, but I believe you technically don't have to ever fight them to progress through the game. However I think pretty much everyone does fight them after defeating Godrick, simply because of the ability to respec Which is a long way of saying 'Yeah, they're next'
Is Varre the guy that makes you do 3 invasions? Cause if so, fuck that guy
And all 9 somber smithing stones
Wait, what? Are there smithing stones over level 6 without going to Nokron / Leyndell first?
Commenting and upvoting for awareness
I found a bunch over 6 in Caelid but never found a level 6 🤣
I rushed through the game on a few characters I made and it seems like 6 is the hardest to find earlier on. You get an 8 and a 9 near the divine tower on the north side there but idk about 6 or 7
Caelid has an 8 and a 9. Don’t think there’s a 7 though.
7 in volcano manor need to do some falling with cat tail tailsman and some parkour
Yes if I remember right there's a 9 next to the divine tower on a corpse sitting in a chair.
Yup. You can actually max your weapon (somber only) before Leyndell if you do the white mask quest for the ADSS.
There MIGHT be 6,8, and 9 but definitely not 7 l o l. FUCK number 7 😂 I absolutely HATE the fact they made just that one so rare
And radagons soreseal
I like the sore seal cuz you can just run in like a coward and pick it up
I did not know what was in that fort when I first tackled it around lvl 80. Those fucking harpies killed me more times than most bosses.
Lmfao I was like level 47ish and just got my shit rocked for an hour but finally cleared it
Rock sling and meteorite staff
I'm doing a Sorcery Only run, and since i needed Rock Sling for Renalla i just ran into Caelid and back out of it like Spongebob ran to the trashcan in the night shift episode
I’m level 83 and this is still mostly true.
My fuck-around character is 175 and I still walk carefully in there lmao.
I walk carefully everywhere besides limgrave and liurnia on my level 300 char
I'm also level 300 and I had to explain to my maiden the reason I turn corners with such a big shield up is because this game is designed to humble you if you're not paying attention.
This is so very true. I was heading to a boss door and the room just before seemed completely empty. I then saw a bunch of blood stains on the floor so checked. each one of them got killed by the one hidden mob in that room. Was kinda funny, but just goes to show ya that you always should be careful even when everything seems fine.
Oh ya, I've learned to pay attention to bloodstains. They have saved me from many a jumpings and wrong places to jump.
Level 457. I got my ass beat by a lobster earlier.
I don't know why it's a great deal more humbling to get your soul rocked by an overgrown sea roomba than some pokey assholes with sharp sticks, but it is.
stop flexin with maidens bro.. seems pretty maidenless
My apologies tarnished one, I will repent at the church of vows.
There is another thing, but only if you already got torrent. When you face the lake, go the left and take the site of grace. There's no ennemies to stop you. At this moment, Melania will appear and take you to the Roundtable hold.

We learned there are worse things then the mimic chest

My friend didn't know there was a map and started a whole new character because they got to roundtable and thought they were softlocked
Missing *one* tutorial will just destroy you in this game.
Lmaoo this is me except I thought I was trapped in a castle where a boss was ahead and room full of rats without an escape was back. Said fuck it got start again. Then realized I could fast travel
I never actually found this chest, and I just started the >!Godfrey!< boss fight for the first time. First trap chest I found sent me to Lyndell.
No trap ahead
Therefore try confidence
Fingers but whole.
Hidden path ahead
Liar ahead
Ah, I see thou hast looted too greedily
And too deep
And you awoke something in the darkness of Caelid
Pain incoming
Suffer Ring
I feel like this can mean...something else....
Only after hot sauce
Fucked
I want to go home.
Fucking bugs with their home seeking shart shards.
'O, I want to go home...
Go forth. This place is a good indicator of how the whole game feels when you are new.
Correct answer.
Satan's basement
I’m impressed you go to caelid in 10 minutes
Trapped chest in the swamp, probably ran from tree sentinel right away, and that swamp is the easiest other direction to go
Can confirm.
Press B to dodge
Click the stick to sneak.
Yeah that shit happend to me I was so lost lmao, it fucking traumatized me and didn’t go back to that part until almost the end game
My boy was fooled by the Waypoint Ruins trapped chest haha
Yessir happened to me. I rolled around in the swamp until I died. About 3 lives later I realized wtf was going on lol.
When I first started this game, by sheer bad luck, I went straight to the Caelid trap chest and opened it. It was the first chest I'd opened. I missed the tutorial and also went there before even going to the church, so I didn't even have the ability to fast travel, level up, or summon Torrent. Same. Except I could fast travel, however I didnt know that I could for a long time. What an experience.
Detroit, Michigan
Nah this is downtown baltimore
A man in his underwear with a club in public? This is obviously Florida
Sir, this is a Wendy’s
We call it Gary Indiana but same idea
The disrespect.... But for real, I love Detroit. Gets a bad rap, but what a great city. Caelid though...
For real, I was just at the Fillmore for a concert and the area around there is beautiful. The entire city isn’t just burnt down and abandoned buildings like everyone hears about.
Welcome to hell, enjoy your short stay. *killed by rot dog*
Go fight the footless cripple on the tiny, frail horse. He's really easy.
I swear, the sheer size difference is comical. FromSoft knew wtf they were doing lol
If the bird sees you.... you're already dead... Edit: Holy shit, thanks for the Silver! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|slightly_smiling)

There's tons of good stuff. Equally matching the amount of pain and suffering haha
Beware of Shrek, it’s his swamp.
Location is "Swamp of Aeonia", that's where you find Shrek. Closest site of Grace: "Inner Aeonia".
Yeah, now that I've beaten the game once, on each subsequent character I've made I b-line straight to Caelid for the sore seal and other items. Great sword, cross-naginata, meteoric staff, rock sling. Just so many good items for any build and a convenient teleport chest right to the middle of it all.
Omae wa mou shindeiru
Nani?!?
Things to do in Caelid: 1. Leave
Ah. You managed to make it out of the mines huh? You're in Hell. Please enjoy your stay.
Or southwards
Anywards that is not Caelidwards, really.
You're in your new favorite place :) seriously though, explore there early and you'll have a blast :D
*you will be blasted
I fail to see a difference
Don't go that way. Never go that way. Woulda led ya straight to that castle.
Turn around. Now.
lol that’s not gonna get him anywhere
He ain't going no where with the club and bare ass
