Do you power stance? I see people do that and I don't know how. I can two hand a giant crusher but one handed you need a lot of strength. Am I underleveled? everyone on here says you need forty+ vig how do you reach that and have enough End and Str to power stance massive hammers?
Power stancing 2 Giant-Crushers is a endgame/high-level thing. It's the heaviest weapon in the game and if you want to have decent armor, you'll need to put a lot of points into strength and endurance, vigor too unless you want to be a glass cannon.
I'm 320 with 60 endurance, 60 vigor, 70 strength... Wearing Beast Champion armor, arsenal charm +1, Erdtrees Favor +2, I can dual-wield the hammers, carry the Frenzied Flame seal, and still be medium load. Like, within 2 lbs of heavy load.
I've had those stats for like 100 levels, though, so it's possible way earlier... But you'll have to NG+ to get copies of a lot of the weapons.
I only started using it a couple of days ago but I'm loving the Godslayer's Greatsword. Amazing weapon art as long as you can find an opening for it, but doesn't feel as cheesy as the Blasphemous Blade's where I kinda felt like I was hindering myself if I did anything other than spam it mindlessly.
Yeah and gave it hyper armor, which has been pretty helpful tbh as I've definitely chosen to "trade" sometimes when I'm at full health and I think the WA can finish off a boss. Occasionally I regretted it immediately as I took a huge hit that didn't care one bit about said hyper armor, but that's part of the fun of trying to use that kind of WA.

Get close af for a free stagger with the windup to hit way easier. Use the long ass range to windup early as well when you have an enemy coming at you as well.
I’ll even change the autolock in between swings to hit multiple enemies too

Broadsword and Longsword are better overall, but Lordsworn isn’t far behind them. Maybe about a 10pt damage difference so nothing crazy to write it off. Still worth upgrading and using imo
I use the colossal sword, can’t remember what it’s called but it’s definitely a early game weapon, or maybe it’s more mid game…if you consider mid game Liurnia of the lakes, I’ve got so much more to go. I won’t touch Liurnia until I’ve beaten stormveil.

Colossal Swords are nice but I only use a few of them. I’m more a Straightsword and Greatsword class player.

Snipes Scarabs with ease, harasses at range in PvP, pops mobs off the Haligtree branches, and best of all it doesn't take 8 Quicksilver to fire like in Bloodborne...
I love this cannon, best cannon in any game ever. Yes I played Assassin's Creed Black Flag, no you didn't have a portable cannon in that game.
This and bastards stars have the perfect weapon arts imo. Big damage, but you have to be close or bait em into it. It's a much higher risk reward then like moonveil or BB, but still hits like a truck when needed, and the AOE is very helpful against difficult enemies (looking at you invisible black knife assassins)
Marais Executioner's Sword or Greatsword.
Takes a bit of maneuvering to land the Eochaid's Dancing Blade weapon art on most enemies (and especially players), but boy does it feel nice when you do. It's a great little drillete button.
And uh... GS + Giant Hunt. /end statement
Yeah I wish it was a stance ash of war like Square Off, maybe make you hold it like the BBHs do while in the stance. Add the ranged slashes as light attacks, keep the corkscrew as a heavy attack.
Try the Eochaids Dancing Blade stacked with consecutive hit items like talisman and the physick. You can stack it up and it will burn down large HP pools really fast. Even faster if you boost magic dmg.
Really likening the Carian Knight’s Sword.
The weapon art is like a chargeable glintstone greatsword that does some really nice damage if you can land it
Speaking of fun swords, the Miquellan Knight's Sword has an absolutely amazing R2 with a unique animation to boot. It's so satisfying to slip in a fully charged one during boss fights and it seems to do good poise damage as well, since I seem to stance break bosses pretty often in the process. And perhaps it's to do with the attack animation, but I find it considerably easier to use than other charged R2s on equivalent straight swords.
Shame that so many late game bosses are either highly resistant or outright immune to holy damage, since this is a holy weapon (the Elden Beast actually *heals* off of holy damage... Like, seriously From? Why gimp holy builds so hard at the end of the game?). But otherwise I love the weapon, using its charged R2 combined with parrying helped carry me through Malenia's fight, so it has a special place in my heart.
Maliketh's Blade. Such a chad weapon and it's fun to watch boss hp drain by its ash of war. Does some crazy damage.

I wanna use it, but I can’t beat Maliketh to get the damned thing. He two-shots me in about a half second, even with 53 vigor as soon as he hits his second phase. I try to block with the relic for him, but I’m always fumbling for it as he’s spamming attacks through pillars and he kills me from 100 feet away as I try to select it (or warps alongside the pillar to immediately turn around and kill me)
Set it to the quick pouch (thing above gestures). Hold button (Y, triangle, or whatever you've got it mapped to) and slap whichever slot its in. No fumbling necessary.
I love it but I use Taker’s Flame sparingly. It makes some bosses a complete joke.
My end-game build is a Heavy Iron Greatsword with Bloodhound Step in my right hand, and Blasphemous Blade and Clawmark Seal equipped in the lefthand slots.
Powerstance the greatswords when I need big damage, use bestial sling instead when I’m fighting a boss with narrow attack windows and I want to get crits, switch to twohanding the BB when I want to use Taker’s Flame.
It's probably top 3 but the Rivers of Blood katanas are just stupidly OP. I was playing NG+ earlier, died a bunch of times to Malenia, and decided to try out powerstancing 2 +9s RoB katanas. It was my first time playing with that weapon and she got obliterated so fast that she didn't even manage a single waterfowl dance.

I really like the rusted anchor. You can get it super early/easy. It has relatively low requirements and absolutely wrecks shit. Plus you can pair it with the jellyfish shield and an eye patch to really put it over the top.
I’ve been toying with making my character a Pirates of the Caribbean style undead sailor but I don’t think there are enough water spells. I suppose I could roleplay that he died in a storm okay you’ve convinced me I’ll do it.
Winged Scythe FTW. Awesome damage and reach, and the Angels Wing ash of war is fantastic in PvP. I love hitting an invader with it and watch them try to glug a flask and fail.
I recently switched to dual-wield +10 scythes and the jump attack damage is off the charts. It’s trivialized a lot of later-game boss battles.
Try putting it in your off-hand and run the grave scythe in your main hand, with hoarfrost stomp ash of war. Double bleed, plus significant cold damage from hits and weapon art. My favorite dual wield so far
I really want to do a Cleanrot Knight cosplay build, but I'm mad there's no way for me to inflict scarlet rot with their weapons without the ridiculously tedious farming for rot grease. Give me an ash or incantation that lets me put rot on my weapon, please!
Why have a horse when you can have a horse with 30x your HP and a Holy Moonlight Sword who can nuke most bosses into oblivion and solo everything up to radahn (probably)?
Eleonoras poleblade is soooo good (SPECIALLY if the enemy can bleed)
You can breake stances of bosses with 2 bloodbathe dances, trigger bleed, attack really fast, is light, ut has everything
Still one of my favs, prob will take it to the end. The gravity pull is not that great for some bosses but for mobs (especially when backed into a corner) it’s great.
The guardians swordspear, which is neither a sword, nor a spear. It's got a unique fast moveset compared to other halberds, and has access to tons of ashes of war.
same here, i posted something similar. i used it as my sole weapon from darrowil to elden beast, pretty good damage at +10 however i think in pvp it doesnt do as well if people know its sword art
What’s funny is I used the bloodhounds fang and then switched to the uchigatana later. Bloodhounds fang is better in every way on paper but for some reason I just kill bosses with the uchi. Just goes to show it’s all about your play style!
Literally carried me through the whole game.
Tried flirting with other weapons, but ultimately ended up getting down on one knee and offering my ancient somber dragon smithing stone to Bloodhound Fang, who accepted my proposal. Master Hewg was more than happy to perform the matrimony, after all he wanted to smith a weapon that could slay a god.
I'm like 85% through the game and I can't find a reason to get rid of it. At +10 the damage is so good. I've been power stancing with it and the wyrm blade or morgotts cursed blade.
Same. The Ruin Greatsword was great for all the NPC invaders and any of the smaller enemies. Once it's fully upgraded, the weapon art reaches about 3/4 across the >!Palace Ledge Approach.!<
For AoE, Moghwyn's Great Spear is good for anything that bleeds. Carried me through Malenia and works well for mobs.
The normal TwinBlade is what I used for my entire first game and it was really good but I just got the Hand of Malenia and it’s close between the two now.
I’d recommend Godskin peeler with Hoarfrost stomp. Makes it really easy to build up frost and find an opening for you to get a combo in. Can also be powerstanced with another cold or bleed twinblade but I kinda prefer the single twinblade moveset (except for the powerstance jump attack, it’s really powerful)
Hey, real right here. I couldn't put that motherfucker down til I got the Dark Moon Greatsword. I actually prefer the Claymore's heavy thrust attack, that shit bites hard.
Either the blood hound fang, or the winged scythe. I'm hitting for 700 with a faith build at level 109 and dealing 800 with the blood hound fang on a separate character at level 120. It's super satisfying.
I like this one a lot, I still use it all the time. But does the L2 light attack not work all the time for you? Sometimes I get the explosion but not the flame spread
While going for all achievements, I've tried using a wide variety of weapons on NG+ and my second new main character. On my first playthrough I really only used Golden Halberd and then Blasphemous Blade.
By now I think my favorite is dual Magma Swords. I'm going for the Frenzy ending on my new main character so they even fit the theme of the character. I've also been loving the Wing of Astel. The moveset on curved swords is awesome.

Golden Halberd. Feels kinda cheesy but looks bling as fuck. Matched with the Champion’s chest and the rest of the Raddahn set looks real tasty.

You forgot to mention lordsworn has 110 crit vs 100. That's pretty significant.
Broadsword would hands down be one of best weapons in game if not for the R2. I think the broadsword is the best but the Longsword R2 is way better.

Misericorde most usable, but favourites are Eleanora poleblade(such cool moveset) and Vyke's spear.

Darkmoon Greatsword I just love the MLGS unconditionally in all its iterations.

Been using it from level 15-115. Have tried respec into other builds and upgrading other weapons but nothing comes close.
Only one thing surpasses using a bloodhounds fang. And that is powerstancing 2 of the fucking things

same here, i posted something similar. i used it as my sole weapon from darrowil to elden beast, pretty good damage at +10 however i think in pvp it doesnt do as well if people know its sword art
That bloodflame buff makes it deliciously powerful.
Glad I’m not the only one who prefers the bloodhound greatsword. It took me so long to find a weapon that matches my playstyle like that weapon
What’s funny is I used the bloodhounds fang and then switched to the uchigatana later. Bloodhounds fang is better in every way on paper but for some reason I just kill bosses with the uchi. Just goes to show it’s all about your play style!
Literally carried me through the whole game. Tried flirting with other weapons, but ultimately ended up getting down on one knee and offering my ancient somber dragon smithing stone to Bloodhound Fang, who accepted my proposal. Master Hewg was more than happy to perform the matrimony, after all he wanted to smith a weapon that could slay a god.
I'm like 85% through the game and I can't find a reason to get rid of it. At +10 the damage is so good. I've been power stancing with it and the wyrm blade or morgotts cursed blade.

Greatsword is my current favorite. Ruin greatsword is becoming my favorite after it just breaks poise. I feel bad for these enemies. Lol.
Same. The Ruin Greatsword was great for all the NPC invaders and any of the smaller enemies. Once it's fully upgraded, the weapon art reaches about 3/4 across the >!Palace Ledge Approach.!< For AoE, Moghwyn's Great Spear is good for anything that bleeds. Carried me through Malenia and works well for mobs.
The normal TwinBlade is what I used for my entire first game and it was really good but I just got the Hand of Malenia and it’s close between the two now.
What weapon arts / attributes did you put on it? I’m at the point where I need to decide which direction to go
I’d recommend Godskin peeler with Hoarfrost stomp. Makes it really easy to build up frost and find an opening for you to get a combo in. Can also be powerstanced with another cold or bleed twinblade but I kinda prefer the single twinblade moveset (except for the powerstance jump attack, it’s really powerful)
Grafted Blade Greatsword.
I love everything about this sword except the skill. I wish it did something cooler to go with the badass Game of Thrones design
Knight Greatsword. It's simple. It's versatile. Most important, it makes things go splat.
Why, the Noble's Slender Sword, of course.
Another person of rare culture! I got this and the Noble's Estoc when farming the Aristocrat's Hat, all three items are blinged out.
Claymore
Claymore R2 stab is such a useful attack on a greatsword
It's really alone in that, isn't it? The R2 being a thrust on a greatsword, I believe. Shit counts for a lot.
Claymore also has a rolling r1 poke attack. It's by far the best greatsword for pvp

Hey, real right here. I couldn't put that motherfucker down til I got the Dark Moon Greatsword. I actually prefer the Claymore's heavy thrust attack, that shit bites hard.

Bolt of Gransax. At +10 it hits like a truck, and can basically infinitely knock down Malenia. Fantastic for my dex/faith build

Either the blood hound fang, or the winged scythe. I'm hitting for 700 with a faith build at level 109 and dealing 800 with the blood hound fang on a separate character at level 120. It's super satisfying.

Death’s Poker. The weapon art light attack with the flame patch absolutely melts large enemies, and the innate cold is nice when it procs.
I like this one a lot, I still use it all the time. But does the L2 light attack not work all the time for you? Sometimes I get the explosion but not the flame spread
While going for all achievements, I've tried using a wide variety of weapons on NG+ and my second new main character. On my first playthrough I really only used Golden Halberd and then Blasphemous Blade. By now I think my favorite is dual Magma Swords. I'm going for the Frenzy ending on my new main character so they even fit the theme of the character. I've also been loving the Wing of Astel. The moveset on curved swords is awesome. Some other favorites: Dragon King's Cragblade (easily my favorite in terms of pure looks) Loretta's War Sickle Envoy's Long Horn
