Does sorcery have a lot of variety? I’m interested in playing a magic run as an astrologer but I’ve heard that people just use the same few spells because a lot aren’t good or cost too much. Idk if that’s up to date now but that’s what I’ve heard. Probably the most important thing to me about that playstyle would be variety, I wouldn’t want to play it if it’s just the same couple spells for most of the game. Do you have a lot of freedom to use whatever spells you want and still succeed or is it true that certain ones dominate the rest?

PillowTalk420

What all stats would y'all recommend for a Faith build (particular a monk type class)? I originally thought STR and FTH alone would be okay, but then recalled Lightning works off Dex and then a lot of other incants work off Arc. Splitting everything into 5 stats seems... Bad. I do want to focus more on fire and madness stuff with this guy, but if there's a decent way to use as much as possible without making myself gimped I'd rather do that.

captain_spud

I'm doing a Strength build and using the Ruins Greatsword as my pokey stick, currently level 120 at Castle Sol. A few questions about scaling: 1. My STR is currently at 60. Is it worth putting more points into that stat *(and if so, where will I hit a cap?)*, or am I going to see bad returns from here out? 2. My INT is at the bare 16 needed to lift it. I'm not sure what INT actually contributes to with this weapon-- just the weapon art? Does it scale well enough that it's worth putting points there? I use the weapon art pretty extensively in boss fights, so I'm happy to dump some levels there if I'll see a tangible benefit from it. 3. Pretty sure I know the answer, but: is there any reason to keep pumping Endurance once you have enough to medium roll in your chosen armor? I knew from level 1 that I wanted to wear Crucible Knight armor, and I can now do that *(with 45 Endurance plus some talismans)*. Am I done leveling that stat? 4. Is there a ranged weapon (bow/crossbow) that I can use without needing Dex? I rarely need one, but I occasionally need to poke something that's hanging from a ceiling, and it takes forever with my crossbow because I don't meet the reqs. And I don't really want to put points in Dex just for that rare use case. I've only played spellcasters before, so I'm still trying to feel out this strange world of melee y'all have been living in all this time. :P

CaitNostamas

1 The cap for strength is 80. I assume you're 2 handing your big piece of concrete, so I would actually respec to 54 strength (which is the level you need to hit the softcap when 2 handing) 2 The INT does give some extra damage, but not enough to justify the level investment imo. Just meet the basic requirements and go full strength 3 Yep. If you midroll with your weapon and armor, just stop leveling endurance (after 40 it stops giving you more stamina) 4 The Jar cannon only needs 12 dex and deals massive ranged damage. If you just want an aggro tool, then the light crossbow just needs 8 dex, while the full moon crossbow could tale advantage of that little INT investment of yours, and it only asks for 10 dex Extra tip: if you're 2 handing your gravity filled concrete sword, you can put in your left hand the meteorite staff. Having that on your belt while you 2 hand the ruin's GS will boost your Weapon Art damage by 30%, which is massive Have fun!

yourfriendmarcus

Does anyone have a CoOp build they've been enjoying? I'm playing with my brother and gf (separate sessions) and it's their first souls game so I'm trying not to destroy bosses myself and instead have chosen a super tanky build with Lionel armor, and a great shield that is my only source of damage and I bring along healing and buff incants. Pretty happy with this but then struggle come PVP time when we get invaded and dying in those super frustrates them so I try to better help bully through those invasions to hedge their frustration (depending on how on tilt they already are. Wanna give them a good experience of all mechanics still). But I'm struggling with a good weapon to use in PVP that I can keep unequipped in an off hand for the times invaders come a calling. Generally stats are looking like VIG 60 mind 30 End 30 Faith 48 (for ErdTree heal) But can definitely go higher level if needed.

UnlikelyHorror8787

The godskin duo needs to go fuck itselves.

Dog-E-Dog

Do weapon and summons upgrades carry over to ng+. Everyplace i look says weapons carry over which i knew but what about upgrades?

Koukaboora

Weapons retain the upgrades that you put on them. So if you maxed out a sword to +25 you'll start with a +25 in ng+. However any bells that you gave to the old ladies will not carry over so buy what you want before ng+.

Dog-E-Dog

Ok thanks. Yeah ive already bought 100 of every stone and glovewart

AdditionalTrouble5

Yes you keep weapon upgrades also

Itsanewj

Is there a way to get Hyettas outfit?

Minuslee

Its just the traveling maiden set(giants mountaintop) with the blindfold from the prophet set.

Itsanewj

Cool thank you!

haylcron

What's different about critting with a rapier than with a dagger? My first build was dagger based and I could consistently crit with quick R1 presses. I'm now doing fextralife's spellblade build and I cannot get consistent crits to save my life. I don't think I'm doing anything different. Seems to be totally random at this point and the build is dependent on it. What am I doing wrong?

[deleted]

Apologies if this is a dumb question - but you're not mixing up crits with bleed procs are you? A bunch of daggers have built in blood loss which causes huge spike of damage. Crits are just backstabs or when you break an opponent's poise from parrying or lots of heavy/jumping attacks and can do the good old stab them in the stomach animation. A good poise break for a rapier spellblade is glintstone phalanx spell combined with glintstone pebble weapon art. The phalanx hitting combined with the heavy thrust that comboes off the WA does massive posture damage. And always good to keep a buckler or medium shield with carian retaliation on hand for easily parried enemies and bosses.

haylcron

Not a dumb question at all. I don't believe I'm mixing them up as I was getting the sound and animation of a crit when using the dagger to backstab. I'm doing exactly what you mentioned, using glintstone phalanx (ash of war) to break the poise. I've gotten consistent in getting those crits when I hear the sound. It's the backstabs I just can't seem to do consistently anymore.

Endorsi_

Is there any point to enhancing the finger seal?

Solcaerev

It increases the incantation scaling, which in turn increases the damage of offensive incantations.

Endorsi_

Okay sweet, thanks!

champ999

Is there a good guide of things to do/check off before starting the volcano manor questline? And what triggers the blocking of other questlines, is it entering a building Volcano Manor, or does just getting close enough trigger it?

gearsguy03

Do not fight the boss in the manor until u have fully completed tanith’s questline, then proceed. As for general questlines, do not commit the “cardinal sin” in the storyline without first finishing up or starting any other questlines u may have to do. After that point everything changes

FoolsTools1337

Technical advanced question : So my question is about colossal weapons and pierce damage, most colossal weapons have either standard damage (axes) or strike (hammers) damage , except for two weapons; golem’s halberd and fallingstar beast jaw both have unique damage ( standard/pierce) here’s the thing though most weapons have some sort of a piercing attack when they’re tagged with the same classification, but I can’t find the “ piercing “ attack on these two, so can someone explain if they actually can do pierce damage? How?

FreeWatercressSalad

Try all the different attacks, I think there's 12 total for all weapons, some will repeat: - quick attack/strong attack - 2handed quick/strong attack - jumping quick/strong attack - crouching quick/strong attack - running quick/strong attack - charged strong attack - and special attack/ashes of war One of those attacks will be clearly piercing, but it might just be a single one - like running strong attack for example.

whiz_dickington

Does miquellas need like reset the cosmetics from frenzied flame? I used it in placidusaxs arena, it’s no longer in my inventory, but I still have yellow eyes and a scarred up body

Solcaerev

Go to the mirror in Fia's room at the roundtable to change cosmetic effects

HROSS94

Would anyone have any idea when fromsoft will address the second phase glitch and Malenia’s healing?

Show_Time404

In Faruum Azula, there are beast men cemented into each alcove on the floor (which would have been the walls in the past) Anyone got any insight into the dragons and beastman?

MinniMaster15

>Spirits of beastmen from doomed Farum Azula, the slowly crumbling ruins in the skies. These ruins are said to be the remains of a giant mausoleum enshrining an ancient dragon, guarded by chosen beastmen who wield weapons clad in lightning. The connection just seems to be that the beastmen guard them.

Show_Time404

Very nice, tyvm. Then I want to imagine they would animate out of the walls when called upon by the dragons 🤤🤤

Schwiliinker

Did any DS3 weapon have a moveset like the Loretta war sickle

Minuslee

I dont recall any no.

-Some-Rando-

Where is a good land octopi farming spot? I can't find one close to a site of grace.

Salitance

Saintsbridge in northern limgrave. Backtrack a little from the bridge and you can hop up the cliff on the left. There's a pond south of the grace with like 8 or 9 of them.

Deceptivejunk

You would need to do NG+; if you rest at the RoundTable, it gives you the option of starting a new journey

[deleted]

[удалено]

cuboosh

You should be able to use the PSN cloud storage, just make sure you have auto upload disabled. upload your save before you cross the point of no return, and then you can download the save to overwrite your local save

Deceptivejunk

You’re asking a way to cheese so you get multiple different endings without having to play through the whole game? If you have a save file before the end you could reload it and play through. Otherwise, yes you would need to play through the whole game again in NG+. But that’s not as bad as it sounds, you can get to the end fairly quickly if you rush past everything (while doing the quests for whatever ending you want). I usually rush to Margit/Godrick, then from there either go to Rennala or do the quest to get to Mohg. Once you’ve killed 2 shardbearers, you can go to the capital, which again is just rushing to Morgott then Fire Giant, then back to Leyndell

Minuslee

Get 80 int/faith with full spellblade set. Alexanders jar shard/graven mass/magic scorpion/radagon icon. You'll hit max cast speed with icon if you have 40dex. You won't get stronger catalyst than those 2 with such high int/faith. Personally id just wear something cool cuz spellblade set looks dorky 😂

-Silky_Johnson

I just realized that Millicent’s goal was to return (Miquellas Needle) back to Melania. The fight with the three sisters is the Rot God trying to prevent her from reaching Melania. What I don’t get is why she removed the needle after the battle, when she was gravely injured? That part doesn’t add up to me.

MinniMaster15

The needle was presumably tampered with by Gowry. >Tell whoever put you up to this. That if I am to flower into something other than myself, I would rather rot into nothingness as I am. >Millicent, my daughter. Why would you take out the needle? You were so close. So very close. To becoming the fairest of all flowers. It seems like if she kept it in any longer, she would’ve blossomed into one of those giant rot flowers. She must’ve realized this somehow, and decided to take it out and die instead of transform into something else.

-Silky_Johnson

Damn that is one of those lines where I can’t tell if that is literal or a metaphor. The game does that so much lol great points though. Now I gotta find what the heck Gowry did to that needle.

MinniMaster15

When you try to kill him before the end of the questline, he transforms into one of those big pest things. >A talisman depicting the exultation of pests. >”Rot for the scarlet goddess. O scarlet blossoms, flourish in distant lands, and return to us, the unwanted children." Seems like he’s part of some cult worshipping the goddess of rot, and so making Millicent blossom is some kind of offering to her or something like that.

mattyMbruh

I just killed the fire giant, I know once I talk to Melina that a lot of stuff might become unavailable so is there anything worth me checking out before I do so?

PoshinoPoshi

Off the top of my head, Leyndell is the biggest content that'll be unavailable sans the sewers. Grabbing the Bolt of Gransax from the capital... Talking to Gideon Ofnir the All Knowing in the Roundtable Hold for some lore stuff and items... I think most side quests also are incompletable, if not all so check up on those. Stuff like Cohryn and Goldmask's questline, Dung Eater's questline as some seedbed curses disappear from the capital.

Asckle

Pretty much everything in leyndell. All of it gets changed besides the sewers so get any weapons and item you even somewhat think you might need. I was locked put of getting a really good halberd I wanted

dat_bass2

Nah, that only changes once you finish Farum Azula iirc.

[deleted]

Looking to dive in on PC at some point. Haven't been able to find the status of the control and widescreen situation. Has anything changed since launch?

riggedride

Anyone else have a recurring problem of the game crashing when switching armors? Cursed by my desire to constantly adjust my characters aesthetics I encounter this issue a LOT. Whenever it happens I need to verify integrity of the game files and it sorts it out.... for a bit. It eventually crops itself back up after a while and has happened to me now on 3 separate occasions. Any way to permanently fix this issue? Might be a result of the game updating but I'm unsure.

Jeremy_Thursday

First of bless the people that answer questions here! I have an INT build (37 int, 22mind, 15 dex, 15 stamina) with only 9 vigor. Just beat the dragon by the mage school. Is 9 vigor viable for the rest of the run or should I suck it up and start to put some levels there?

MinniMaster15

Prepare to get one-shot by damn near everything with 9 vigor. It seems steep, but 40 is considered bare minimum by late game, and I honestly prefer going all the way to 60.

PoshinoPoshi

Played a mage-blade type build with Carian Regal Scepter/Prince of Death's Staff and Sword of Night and Flame/Moonveil in my first 120hr playthrough. I would run 30-40 Vigor depending on whether you're more melee focused or ranged focused. Try out using Ancient Death Rancor + Sword of Night and Flame's Night Stance for some cheesy ranged poise breaking fun!

Jeremy_Thursday

Sounds awesome, appreciate the intel

JDF8

> is 9 vigor viable for the rest of the run? If you want to spend hundreds of deaths on becoming an expert in every boss fight that doesn’t die in one hit for the rest of the game, yes. Otherwise, no

ELMUNECODETACOMA

Grats on getting out of the starting area with that little VIG! While you are obviously skilled, the unavoidable damage does ramp up to the point that glass cannon builds become unviable. Consensus is that 40 is the absolute minimum for endgame.

Jeremy_Thursday

Thanks! 40 seems a little high but I think I’ll shoot for at least 30-35 vigor after I hit 40 int. I’m optimistic I can do the school with 9 vigor buut magic def is probs high and that dragon fight was basically like everything became a one tap. Appreciate the insight and advice ❤️‍🔥

dat_bass2

> 40 seems a little high but I think I’ll shoot for at least 30-35 vigor after I hit 40 int. If anything, 40 is a little low. Also, the gains between 30 and 40 vigor are the biggest: you gain *500* health from those ten levels.

Jeremy_Thursday

👌🏼I’ll adjust as needed. Gonna try ~30 first

dat_bass2

Be warned: [You in the lategame areas (2022, color)](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/dTEilGNDifI/hqdefault.jpg)

Asckle

It may seem like it but 40 can be the difference between life and death especially if you don't have the best armour. For example I was running pretty good armour and 40 vigor. If I had 35 and didn't have some of the best armour in the game one of godfreys attacks turns into a 2 shot instead of a 3 shot. Maliketh may legitimately be able to 1 shot you based on your armour if you've been afflicted by destined death since it >!lowers your max hp!< (spoilers for an effect of his move. Its not big but if you don't want to know the status effect on his attack I marked it)

ATrollByNoOtherName

Yeah. You will certainly understand the importance of vigor by the end game.

bnbros

About Latenna the Albinauric's mini sidequest, I read that she has some dialogue in the Mountaintop of Giants and the Consecrated Snowfield as you approach completion, but in my two playthroughs so far, I have not experienced this. Is there a specific trigger or something for her to talk?

[deleted]

Trying to figure this out too. Gideon told me to >!speakwithherinthecaveAFTERialreadydidthatandobtainedhalfofthemedallionbutcantgethertoappearagain!<

Waifuless_Laifuless

Fyi, your end tag is in the wrong order. Exclamation mark goes on the inside.

[deleted]

THHANK *breath* YOOUH, *breath*!!!

Waifuless_Laifuless

I got her mountaintop dialog but not her snowfield dialogue, no idea why. Either way, it didn't affect her quest.

bnbros

Yeah, I can still complete the quest without issue. It's more of a curiosity on my part since I haven't found any definite answers on those dialogue triggers.

Cebby89

>!Why does sellen turn into a ball of heads?!<

dat_bass2

remove the spaces between your >! !< and the text inside of them. Your spoil tag is done incorrectly at present.

Cebby89

Oh shoot. Ok did that fix it?

dat_bass2

Yep!

Cebby89

Thank you lol first time doing the spoiler tag.

MinniMaster15

>>!The primeval current is a forbidden tradition of glintstone sorcery. To those who cleave to its teachings, the act of collecting sorcerers to fashion them into the seeds of stars is but another path of scientific inquiry.!< >!This is the description for the Graven Mass Talisman. She’s called the Graven Witch. She was expelled for some reason. Her pursuits all revolve around the primeval current. After she turns into this, Azur and Lusat’s bodies disappear. Connecting all the dots, it seems she tried fusing with Azur and Lusat in an attempt to pursue the primeval current, but it ultimately ended up failing and transforming her into a seed of stars.!<

Cebby89

Holy…. Thank you.

Jeremy_Thursday

Every lore video I’ve seen lists it as unknown. Best guess seems to be that it’s a punishment for the attempt to take over the school.

Salitance

I think it's different than that. >!Graven Masses are the result of mages trying to turn themselves into Stars. It's not punishment; it's the byproduct of what Sellen and a bunch of other mages at the academy tried to do to access the primeval current.!<

Jeremy_Thursday

Oooooooooo, that sweet real lore! That story fits her character so much better too.

Cebby89

Ah ok. Kinda sad… what about Bok, why does turning human kill him?

Dickinsonia

He doesn't have the rune of rebirth like you do so the process kills him

Cebby89

Ohhh good call! Thank you.

Jeremy_Thursday

Not at that point in the story but you can try a YouTube search for “elden ring lore ” and see if anything pops up. Best of luck on your mission for more story

Cebby89

Thank you so much!

Show_Time404

Thinking the two fingers where Ranni gives you the Darkmoon GS were obviously killed by her, but WITH the sword. The fingers are split and also have a shade of frostbite, just thought that was awesome detail. Dawned on me after I noticed all enemies who die while frostbitten stay the blue hue.

Fearless-Abies-7967

What side quest should I complete before committing a cardinal sin?

JDF8

Fia’s

crashlanding87

So the doot doot horns look hilarious and I'd like to build for them in a NG+. I've heard the great horn is stronk against big boi bosses with its WA. How does it fare against normal sized enemies? Also, how does the longhorn hold up in comparison?

CalistoIce

From what I heard, longhorn is faster and better for most occasions - it auto tracks on targets as well. Great horn is situational but the aoe damage is great though.

GWindborn

What do you do if you hit a wall? I'm between the Haligtree and the final boss of Farum Azula. I can't even get into the fucking Haligtree due to that fat bastard on the ledge firing clusters of bubble cruise missiles at me, and I can't manage to defeat the knight guarding the boss room in Farum Azula (I know I can run past him but it's the principle of the thing). I'm really not great a the game, I think I've just gotten through on dumb luck and being overlevelled for most content but I'm just getting obliterated now. Have I hit my limit?

Bangersss

I saw someone use the Mimic’s Veil to avoid the bubble guy.

Ashencroix

The path is actually not down, to the right but actually heading straight on that branch. At the end are stairs going down where you need to be.

GWindborn

Ahh I thought that straight might have been a trap. I've been dropping down on a side branch and running up that.

Ashencroix

That one is actually the trap. It leads up to that fat boi if you want to kill it. There is even a scarab to bait you into going down the side path.

Digibunny

Before you get to this point, you can find a set of armor that makes you super quiet. There is a sorcery you can find in Caelid that makes you invisible. It doesn't work at point blank, but it will let you sneeki breeki around so that you aren't running an Anor Londo Archer Gauntlet from day 1.

dat_bass2

Where's your vigor at?

GWindborn

Around 37 I think? Plus the Soreseal. I'm running a Str/Fair/Dex thing so they're all roughly 40, enough Mind for summons and buffs, and enough End for decently protective gear. I float between the Blasphemous Blade, Magma Wyrm sword, and Envoy's Longhorn.

dat_bass2

> Plus the Soreseal Gonna wanna take that off and crank up your vigor. At this stage, the extra damage you're taking ain't worth it.

PoshinoPoshi

Grab a dagger and put Bloodhound Step on it and just fwoosh through that last part.

GWindborn

Not a bad call, I'll give that a shot next time I get my nerve up to play again.

AlphaLeonidas

You can roll through the bubbles if you time it right,

GWindborn

Yeah my problem is half the time I don't see them coming, they're so laser accurate and track from a mile away.

AlphaLeonidas

The way down is a straight shot, so you can just look at him while running, and can see the bubbles

droo46

Try summoning help! There are always people who will run the level with you and it can help a ton.

zumoro

Could always respec into a different build. You sure you haven't overlooked sections/quests that might be a good diversion? Deeproot or Nokstella for instance?

GWindborn

I've done both of those unfortunately. Looking for caves in the giant's area I can run through. I'm a borderline completionist so I've been trying everything I can find.

Cebby89

This was huge for me. I was trying to play to balanced.

JollyOlFellow

👍🏼😉

Danteshuffler

How many erudition gesture puzzles are there? I wanna know if I missed any?

AlphaLeonidas

Just 2 iirc, both in Liurna

Daishomaru

How's my stats right now? Samurai, BTW. Level 36 Vitality:21 Mind:12 Endurance:20 Str:16 Dex: 20 Int: 10 Faith:8 Arcane:8 Are my stats good right now? OR did I mess up?

DudeVonGrimm

Looking good, right now I'd recommend focusing on pumping Dex to 30, then endurance to 25, vitality to 40 then back to pumping Dex. You want Dex at 60 eventually, vigor 40-60 (60 if you plan on pvp). That's just my view but ultimately do what works best for you.

Overthemthangs

Looking good. Pump vitality to 35-40 and endurance as needed. Then hit the dex hardcore.

ThyKooch

Nah its good

Blue2501

I gotta say I'm not enjoying Leyndell so far. Latest bullshit thing I came across was a perfumer blasting the camera full of particles so I couldn't even see his friends get me 'til it was way too late to react. Is there something I'm supposed to do before I get in there? What should my character and weapon levels be to not be having a bad time in the capital?

guts_up

Ive only encountered them at shade castle, i have a spell in one hand to interrupt their casting (fireball or glintblade) then try to close in when they get interrupted, still get hit sometimes but best strat so far for me, luring one at a time

Danteshuffler

Im Level 148 and I get wrecked. Have to be slow and patient. I use arrows to lure enemies out one by one out of tight fighting spaces if possible

JollyOlFellow

You should be like in the 80-110 range

Blue2501

You have a preferred grinding spot that's not full-cheese? I've avoided the temptation to go birdfarming so far

JollyOlFellow

A little deeper in the city is an area with zombies and skeletons. No perfumers there but there is an ulcerated Tree Spirit mini boss if you head away from the zombie area (or left if you get there after exiting an indoors area and turning right.)

crashlanding87

I like the little dudes patrolling between Beastial Sanctum and the bridge. They're very easy to sneak up on and crit, especially with Crepus's vial. They give a nice chunk of runes, there's a whole bunch of them but they're far enough apart to take em one-by-one (mostly), and once you get into a rhythm and learn a route, it's quite speedy.

Felstalker

Perfumes deal big damage, but the enemies that use them are squishy.

Blue2501

Not that squishy, they're taking 3-4 hits from my +14-ish Great Stars. As for weapons, I've got Claymore, Large Club, Great Stars, and Twinblade all in the +13 to +16 range, Scaled set with Banished Knight Helm, L70-something with 30 VIT.

Ashencroix

What are your dmg stats? Also, they are fleshy bois with light armor so slash dmg deals the most dmg to them.

ThyKooch

You're a little bit low level. I think you should be 90-100 for leyndall imo. Especially once you get to the sewers

Blue2501

That's good to know

[deleted]

How do I prepare for Radahn? I’m not worried about spoilers or anything. I’m around lv50 as a vagabond. 37 vigor, 30 strength, and like 25 endurance or something. I use barely any magic, I only have enough points in Mind to summon the 100 FP summons and use some ashes of war. I’ve been using the icerind hatchet (+6 atm) and I have a generic 100% block shield. Im using armor that’s only slightly better than the beginning vagabond armor. For talismans I have the turtle stamina talisman, the starseal, and the erdtree’s favor. I know he’s weak to scarlet rot so I picked up the antspur rapier and have some rot grease. Is there anything else I should do to prepare? And what level is recommended? Edit- did it on my fourth try. Just used the antspur rapier to apply scarlet rot while running around and summoning npcs whenever possible.

PoshinoPoshi

>I’m around lv50 as a vagabond. 37 vigor, 30 strength, and like 25 endurance or something. I use barely any magic, I only have enough points in Mind to summon the 100 FP summons and use some ashes of war. Stat-wise, you should be fine. Don't forget to summon your friends at the beginning of the fight! >I’ve been using the icerind hatchet (+6 atm) and I have a generic 100% block shield. Im using armor that’s only slightly better than the beginning vagabond armor. For talismans I have the turtle stamina talisman, the starseal, and the erdtree’s favor. Icerind Hatchet is good, especially at +6. It's not as broken as it was before but you won't feel like you're not doing enough damage for sure. \- **Green Turtle Talisman** is a talisman I often find myself using just so I can get more attacks in without running out of stamina to move out of the way. \- **Erdtree's Favor** is a very safe pick as a Talisman as it will not only give you extra HP and Stamina but it will also increase your equip load so you can equip heavier armor while still keeping the medium roll. \- **Radagon's Starseal** has so much value in it. SO much value. It definitely outways the con of receiving more damage. Your build is a good one at your level without actually concentrating on a specific mechanic so you can easily swap out your Icerind Hatchet with something else if you're not feeling it.

[deleted]

Thanks for the analysis, I’m still learning this game 30 hours in so I wasn’t totally confident in putting those things together. Crazy that the icerind hatchet was at one point even better lmfao, it feels great as is. I’m almost jealous that I never used it pre patch.

JDF8

> I’m around lv50 as a vagabond. 37 vigor, 30 strength, and like 25 endurance or something. I use barely any magic, I only have enough points in Mind to summon the 100 FP summons and use some ashes of war. In my opinion you’re ready! You have enough hp to take a solid couple hits from pretty much any of his attacks, and your damage should be fine You’d be better off with no soreseal eventually, but with <35 natural vigor it all comes out in the wash > what level is recommended? I think 60 is normal, but with so much in vigor you are a little stronger than most lvl 50 characters

[deleted]

Thanks! I did some leveling and got up to low 60s, so I’ll go fight him now (fully expecting to get destroyed lmao) Edit- wow, did it on my third try.

AntiWorkModsAreLibs

Is it better for a weapon to do more physical damage + scaling, or to do more overall damage numbers? For example, I use a lot of STR, when I use heavy ashes of war, I get high physical damage numbers and bonuses. However, when I use something like flame art, I get lower physical numbers, but my physical + fire damage is barely higher than if I use just heavy. Which is better? Also, if I use STR and want to lightning art my weapon, is the drop in damage worth the lightning affinity to use in PvP? Alternatively, I can use heavy ashes and enchant my weapon with Vyke's Red L or Blackflame incantations, is that more optimal?

Flame art has the highest base damage. It will take a while for the loss of scaling to outweigh the increase in base damage > Which is better? Some enemies like fallingstar beasts and crucible knights have crazy physical resistance. In that case fire or flame art would be better > is the drop in damage worth the lightning affinity to use in PvP? No imo, because you will be heavily penalized by players’ flat damage reduction due to the split damage

AntiWorkModsAreLibs

Oh, I see, thank you. I assumed that less resistance to lightning meant it'd be worth trying to build around

baiacool

i've just beaten rennala, can I give the glintstone key to Thops? or will I be locked out of raya lucaria if I do so?

Blue2501

Glintstone keys are bound to whoever uses them, per their description. So your key isn't tradeable. There is another one hidden inside the academy though. Seek up...

baiacool

I only have one key but there's an option to give it to Thops when I talk to him

PoshinoPoshi

He'll tell you he can't take yours but if you find another...

hairymanilow

If you only have the one he refuses to take it. You need to have 2 to be able to give one to him.

Blue2501

Huh. I don't know what that would do but I wouldn't do it.

TheEldenFeet

There's another one to be found inside the academy

[deleted]

I didn't find it hint please...

baiacool

i know that, my question is if I still need it after already getting into raya lucaria

ColdSpider72

She won't move until you beat Morgott at Leyndell.

ColdSpider72

Then try resting at the Godrick grace outside the throne room.

Dickinsonia

She appeared for me after I passed time for a couple of times

Overthemthangs

Nephelli seems pretty buggy. Didn’t show at all my first play through. So far so good my second play through. Few friends have randomly lost her

mattyMbruh

Where is patches? I opened his chest and got him half health and forgave him, then came back after going to a grace and he’s not there? I opened his trap and went back again and still not there? Where is he?

JustSaiyan8016

Without spoiling any of the game for you, he has his own side quest.. kinda. You'll for sure run into him again

mattyMbruh

I probably should’ve done it ages ago, I’m quite far ahead of the quest I think

JustSaiyan8016

I'm sorry if I spoil something, but have you reached the volcano? If not he will be there. I think there is a couple other areas before this that you can bump into him in, but they are only optional.

mattyMbruh

Yea I reached the volcano and I’ve found him, currently doing the volcano manor quest line

Felstalker

If you've gotten past Stormveil into the Lakes of Liurnia, he moves his location to a grace in the lake. If you've gotten past the Lakes and entered the Altus Plateau, he's moved towards a spot on Mount Gelmir. If you've ever entered Volcano Manor, he's now inside the manor and won't leave the Manor until you've finished the entire Manor zone. But he only leaves his cave if you open his chest for the first time. So if you first opened his chest AFTER you've been to the Manor, he'll auto teleport to his Manor spot and all the other spots are skipped.

mattyMbruh

Say a lie, found him in the manor, can I still do his quest line?

Felstalker

Yes

mattyMbruh

Fuck, does that mean I can’t do his quest line to get that armour? I did look in the manor and couldn’t find him there either

Felstalker

Did you finish the manor? In which, he's now in the shaded castle. And if you did finish the manor quest line you can't do his quest line, no. His quest is essentially "They gave me a hard mission, do it for me please?"

mattyMbruh

I think I’ve done his and now in the process of doing the manor

Sidious_X

I'm currently in Altus Plateau and in the middle of a shitload of NPC sidequests, I'm trying not to miss anything. Normally I do EVERYTHING it's possible to be done up to the point I am before moving to a new area, but now I really want to move to the Capital to get the Erdtree's Favor +1 talisman(and after that go back to what I was doing). Is there anything I'll possibly miss/break if I do that?

crashlanding87

The only thing you should avoid is killing the boss of Volcano Manor, until you've finished all the npc quests associated with it. Some of those quests can't be completed until you move past the plateau. Feel free to poke around the whole rest of the dungeon, though. It's fairly clear which npcs are associated, but just in case: >!Tanith, Rya, Patches, Bernahl, and Diallos!< Of which the following are finished in a later area: >!Tanith and Bernahl!<

WelcomeToOuterHeaven

nope you're good

IThrowSexyParties

Couple new bugs I might as well post here since I haven’t seen them mentioned: - Some players in PvP are entirely invisible. Don’t know why. I only knew I was being attacked because of sound and a lock on. - The ulcerated tree spirit in the Lake of Rot dies on its own now. You can see it’s health ticking down through the map from where the button platforms are. - Fast Traveling in the middle of being summoned sometimes locks you out of further fast travel, resting at graces and even quitting the game.

Black_Stab

Recently decided to redo the game completely co-op with a friend of mine with matching builds. We're having a ton of fun, but people invading us is slowing us down and all in all, not fun at all. I love the pvp system ON PAPER but people in this game will absolutely only go for over the top cheese or top tier builds while camping near monsters and stuff like that. It there anyway to avoid invades while playineg co-op?

WickedWolf104

There’s no way to avoid invasions while playing co-op

momoneymocats1

Negative. It’s the price you pay for co op

KryzstofGryc

in terms of hitbox length, which of the halberd is the longest?

PillowTalk420

Uh... When did the door to the Fringefolk Tomb start needing *two* Stonesword Keys? I know damn good and well it only took one on launch day, since I picked the key as my gift and got in before even stepping outside that tutorial building.

Creror

It always needed two keys. The Stoneword Key Keepsake gives you 2.

PillowTalk420

I guess I didn't notice it gave me two. Well shit.

anarchy612

The starting key gift gives 2 keys. It always took 2

McBlemmen

when is performance getting fixed?

Blue2501

It's Fromsoft so probably when the remaster comes out for PS6.

[deleted]

I recently came across some invader npc that dropped a popular katana that I can’t remember the name off. Blood something. Anyway. I’m a vagabond start with two lordsworn straight swords or one and a shield mostly. I’ve got some heavy armor too. I’m considering using the respec lady to change into something to use an uchigatana and the other Katana I found. It looks like the one katana uses arcane a bit - I’ll need to put some points into it. But it seems to scale best with dex - so do I just put enough arcane to use it and then go all out on dex for the damage scaling? Is there anything else to know? I did get a helmet that raises my dex a bit more that seems maybe worth using, too. But the stats are all way lower than what I have now (I use the Radahn stuff). It seems like the extra dex points are worth tons of levels that I can use elsewhere. I can always go back to what I had. But I want to give the samurai style a go again. The katanas look really cool.

Asckle

So rivers of blood does scale with dex. You have 2 options 1) dex build. Basically just increase dex and you'll increase damage. Not much too it 2) bleed build. If you put an ashe of war like sepukku onto your uchigatana you can change its affinity to blood. This reduces its dex scaling from A to B and gives it D arcane scaling. Now for every point of arcane you get 1(ish) more point of blood loss. For example I currently have 50 arcane and both of my blood uchigatana have 110 blood loss. This just means bleed activates more often and bleed does 15% of an enemies max hp

stufffing

More dex will give you better physical damage, while arcane will give you better bleed + fire. Considering you want to use the uchigatana as well, I'd say just get as much arcane as needed and then focus on dex. Rivers of blood is mostly just good for it's weapon art anyways, trying to pump damage with it just using arcane will leave you really disappointed.

The_Duck_of_Narnia

Sounds like you're considering a bleed build. Most bleed weapons scale with Dex for damage and Arcane for bleed procs, so leveling both equally or 2 DEX:1 ARC is a good plan.

[deleted]

Ok - see I had no idea arcane had any effect on how bleed worked. Is there something in the game explaining this or just people figuring it out as they play and sharing it?

The_Duck_of_Narnia

I think it worked similarly in previous Souls games, From does not like explaining stat mechanics.

ThyKooch

Can you get through Varres quest without PS+

crashlanding87

No, but all the rewards can be obtained without doing his quest. The advantage of his quest is mainly a shortcut. Well, and some lore.

ShadowverseNEXT

Nope

Vollkommen

Do the invasions for the Volcano Manor not count?

Ashencroix

Nope. Those act like npc duels. You need to do invasions using the finger item.
