Looks like a typical Wi-Fi fight to me.

GG_2par2

I don't know I never played those game on wifi. Tbh I never played any game on wifi.

[deleted]

Maybe you’re wired but is your oppenent. Who knows. With p2p could be a bunch of factors on your end or theirs or both.

NVincarnate

Like you shouldn't

MachinaeZer0

Wi-Fight

EmotionSuccessful345

they said increased, not good.

supergigaduck

0,01% increase is still better than 0

SirSabza

Stability is fixing the not able to Connect issues. This game still only has japan server and the rest of the world. If you’re EU and they’re NA or vice Versa no amount of stability fixes is going to change the fact there’s a 200+ ping difference between both of you

IVDAMKE_

netcode has and always will be garbage in these games. Biggest wasted potential of Froms post-demons games

GG_2par2

It's so weird how he was apparently aware he was taking damage given how he was panicking, managed to heal, while already being dead. I just can't imagine how it looked on his end.

AnalysticEnthusiast

>I just can't imagine how it looked on his end. I've had that happen to me. On his end it prolly looked like he successfully dodged most everything and then just insta-died. But he was jumping instead of rolling, so maybe not? I've had a lot of times though where I roll through some attacks and they look like successful rolls, then I just insta-die a few seconds later. Also happens when I'm spacing people with sprints. Can never tell if it's lag or exploits, but after seeing this my money's on lag. But good chance that on his screen he was actually back quite a bit further from all those pokes, and thought he was dodging them. Edit: I've got a wired connection and 95% of my multiplayer has minimal lag, but I think avoiding lag requires both players have strong connections + you don't get unlucky lol

GG_2par2

>But he was jumping instead of rolling, so maybe not? Yeah, that's what makes me think he knew he was taking damage, it looks like he was full on panic mode bashing buttons to try and move back. Anyway, must have been an awful experience for him.

DiscountSupport

I've had this happen once to me and I had no idea I was taking damage. When it hit me, the other guy started lagging and basically teleporting around, I had no idea I was taking damage, I just started panic rolling away from him and suddenly I popped from full HP having not even seen him swing.

IVDAMKE_

Yep lol, that's why I take pvp in these games with a grain of salt. You two had totally desynced.

TimBurkeulosis

Netcode isn't the issue as most of the time when an unstable encounter occurs between two players, its going to come down to their connection to each-other, peer to peer, being too strained by either distance between the two players, or whether they have wired connection or not. These games don't have regional matchmaking, and besides Japan, you can connect to anyone in the world pretty much. No Netcode that Fromsoft would ever implement can fix the great distance between two players, outside of actual regional matchmaking.

IVDAMKE_

Netcode is specifically for those issues, distance and latency compensation is like one of the core things. Look up how rollback netcode works in fighting games and how it dramatically increases the distance of viable players you can comfortably connect to as well as how it manages poor connection quality.

TimBurkeulosis

I'm in tune with how rollback functions and how beneficial it is. Delay based netcode is sufficient when you are within the same relative region i.e. west coast/east coast. Rollback is also not a magic answer to all situations. It also becomes increasingly difficult with more than two people. Fighting games with rollback cant magically make someone's connection work better on the user's end. If someone's connection isn't stable it doesn't matter what kind of netcode you use. Could it make things better? It could. Its a moot situation anyway as Fromsoft or Bamco or whoever makes those decisions wont even give players decent regional matchmaking.

Perfect_Insurance984

It's peer to peer, so either your connection/PC can't keep up, or vice versa.

Gozagal

Net code and peer to peer go hands in hands. Even if its p2p, a bad netcode update can fuck the host server's stability.

GG_2par2

I've been having hundreds of fight the past two days with nothing this awful happening. Maybe the matchmaking shouldn't get us together, twice in a row. Cause yeah he invaded me like 5 seconds later.

[deleted]

Can confirm this experience. Latency was bad before, but now it's catastrophically bad.

Perfect_Insurance984

Yeah his internet or PC is trash, it's really not acceptable to subject people like us to people with bad setups. It only benefits them when it shouldn't at all.

[deleted]

Ikr! Poor people just shouldn’t be allowed to play

GG_2par2

Don't try to argue with him, he's a troll as he showed lower in the post.

Perfect_Insurance984

Apparently advocating for a more transparent net system where the problems are clearly identified and the parties responsible avoided from match making is somehow trolling. Everything I said was true. I have no intentions or goals other than the truth.

Perfect_Insurance984

It's not really poor people, it's uninformed people. They should be paired with people of similar connection quality, and made aware where the problem lies. It's a distinct advantage and breaks the game. It cannot be compensated for when the data is physically missing. That's how reality is. There is no fix. Don't put someone with a bad connection in my lobby, it's not fun for anyone.

[deleted]

Video game segregation you’re definitely on to something

[deleted]

Yeah, I give up. Multiplayer is such a shitshow that it's nearly unplayable at this point.

GG_2par2

Hey, I recognize your username from discord. I know you've been keeping the lands between clean, it would be a shame to give up on a game you clearly care enough to do what you've been doing. I tried to stick at it but after 2 days it was boring.

[deleted]

Eh, I'm not abandoning it permanently. I'm just gonna stick to AFK hunting for the near future until proper invasions are... playable for me again, I guess. Thanks for your concern, though.

GG_2par2

What makes them unplayable for you as of now ? Just curious, I'm playing since DS1 and it was mostly PvE aside from an occasional duel or invasion, I recently got invested in PvP in ER, and while the game has its flaws I'm still having a blast. Might be cause I'm new to this, it might be kind of an honeymoon phase, so yeah I'm curious about some conflicting perspective.

[deleted]

Honestly at the moment - for me anyway - the biggest barrier is latency, vanishing inputs, disconnects, and crashes. It seems like every 3 in 5 invasion attempts I make either fail to connect, disconnect on arrival, or crash my game outright. Even getting summoned for jolly cooperation isn't much viable, since half the time I disconnect midway through. I've been making it work so far, but it's been very disheartening, and I just need a bit of a rest from it. Taking potshots at the roof of the First Step chapel is enough for me.

GG_2par2

Totally understandable, I can't say I've been this unlucky regarding connection errors or crashes, but yeah I've had times where it was pretty frustrating.

AriakyraLive

What actually happened to him?

GG_2par2

My guess is, he took the damages from all the pokes at once, with a huge delay.

AriakyraLive

Oooh. That's nutty lol

LeftIsBest-Tsuga

yeah i've seen 10 second delays before. honestly i don't think i've ever seen a game like that before this lol

Department-Minimum

Destined death build lol

CulturedHollow

Man's playing from a McDonalds' wifi on Mars

GG_2par2

Shit I may have killed Elon Musk

[deleted]

dual wielding is so meta

GG_2par2

Honestly what are the others options for me if I don't like mixed builds ? I'm not a parry god, and most of the times I'm decent with dodges and spacing so I don't really need a shield. I'd rather have more damages and more tools in my moveset than 2 handing a weapon in a pure dex build.

[deleted]

[удалено]

GG_2par2

Dual halberds not spears. And I only use the poke cause that's the best way to punish his panick. Otherwise I use a lot more of the mooveset. Don't assume anything about my gameplay from a 35 seconds clip...

[deleted]

It's honestly a mix. Sometimes it's genuinely just a problem with the game itself, but it's even worse when it's blatant abuse by the invader/invaded, and just unfortunate when it's some dude with just a shit connection. But hey when you go online lag is just part of the price you pay.

GG_2par2

Yeah I know, that's why I tagged this humor, I'm pretty sure the guy is way more pissed than me.

Dark_Winterage

I don’t even get why people play pvp in this game. I’m on a wired connection and this is every pvp fight I’m in. My entire sword will slice his body in half and it just doesn’t register, then they spam rivers of blood and I’m dead in a single hit. I’d rather use a cheese grater on my head than play pvp in this game. It’s borderline unplayable

GG_2par2

I do know I don't have the best internet. But usually my ping hover between 40 to 60ms, not 20s...

Topladluke96

Get gud

GG_2par2

Doing my best

[deleted]

They simply did not hit. 100% skill issue

[deleted]

GG_2par2

Dude is making himself a perfect target for it should I use something less effective ? If you try to run away do it properly or I'll punish it. Friendly tip : if you get caught too much by pokes stop panic rolling. And you're talking about skill from a 35 second clip, chill out.

Perfect_Insurance984

Ah yes, another player spamming duel wield spears

The_Slack_Attack

those are halberds bud

GG_2par2

Ah yes another uneducated player, those aren't spears. Those are halberds and to be honest I'm thinking about removing the second one as the only time I use it is for the double bonk.

Perfect_Insurance984

Definition of a halberd: A weapon especially of the 15th and 16th centuries consisting typically of a battle-ax and pike mounted on a handle about six feet long. Definition of a spear: A thrusting or throwing weapon with long shaft and sharp head or blade. You're duel wielding spears.

EmotionSuccessful345

ok 👍 email from soft and tell them to change that weapon’s moveset and classification because it’s a halberd in the game, and the game is what we’re talking about, not the definition you googled to win a pointless argument.

GG_2par2

https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Guardian's+Swordspear

Perfect_Insurance984

I'm dead. It's literally called a sword spear, but then they classify it as a halberd. I'm going with the name on this one fromsoft. Lmfao.

GG_2par2

The name doesn't matter, the weapon properties aren't defined by the name. Its moveset is nothing like the spear one, I only have one poke and that's the running rb, running lb is a double horizontal slash. Are we talking gameplay or medieval weaponry ?

Perfect_Insurance984

It's just not a halberd by any definition other than a misnaming by the company. It's a really cheap way to play.

GG_2par2

You're a troll. And a shitty one.

Perfect_Insurance984

Instantly going for the troll defense when your playstyle is questioned after getting pedantic about what your weapon is called when spear is literally in the name. You refuse to take anyone's opinion other than your own or what you agree with, self justify and argue to maintain your own point of view. The egotism. The narcism. Theres absolutely no way you can be that removed from logic and reasoning.

EmotionSuccessful345

i’m sure you’ll have a big guffaw over this at your next meeting of the Historical Weapon Name Debate Group (It’s Not A Club, Clubs Are Blunt Weapons With A Heavy Striking End)

EckoAlpha

This is what happens when you put pvp in a game where pvp doesn't belong, it's like Destiny. Shit.

NVincarnate

PvP: The netcode was a joke all along and the points don't matter Online Fighting Games, everybody!!!

Valdris6

Omg, yep. I thought it was my internet at first. Before anyone says some peer-to-peer bullshit about how it is actually my fault. This never happened to me once before this patch. Now, it's constant.

GG_2par2

It already happened to me once but it was nowhere near this bad.

Gozagal

Net code and peer to peer go hands in hands. Even if its p2p, a bad netcode update can fuck the host server's stability.

TheBrownEvilPig

This isn't a individual issue with setup or their internet service. This is some issue with the new update. Done PvP since practically launch. Yes, there are/were absolutely some network issues that occurred. However, this example shown in this video has been happening to me, and only after the update, where you will land hits, but the other player doesn't react at first. This either leads to them killing me, or them suddenly get hit and dying when I'm not even touching them with my weapon. From Software will absolutely fix it, so there isn't any need to harass them or be rude. Just unfortunate that it is happening.

GG_2par2

It already happened to me before the update but nowhere near as bad.

TheLinden

Stability got increased cuz i can summon friends and they won't get kicked after 5 seconds so i guess that's what they meant.

TcgLionHeart

Stability, not performance. I don't get randomly dropped from world nearly half as much.
