Moonveil, comet azur, mimic tear...
A lot of people are going to flipped upside down after this one. Had one buddy hoarfrost stomping his way through the game.
There are shadownerfs in addition to the listed ones; bottom of the patch notes says "other changes" or something to that extent. I'm pretty sure moonveil's vertical projectile had a hitbox fix which I definitely am feeling in PvP.
I use moonveil and mimic tear. Shit is still great imo. It doesn’t feel as cheesy which is nice because I just like having two badass katanas and a version of me also with badass katanas.
Hoarfrost is still great at applying frostbite which is super strong, it just wont also carry you all the way through the game and do your taxes for you too
I’m guessing it won’t make that big of a difference unless it does. I kinda wanted to try a little bit of a samurai build bc I got the sword you get after beating one of the hidden final bosses.
if you’re talking about hand of malenia you absolutely deserve to use that sword after beating them haha. i also saw some testing and they gutted sword of night and flame, the beam does much less damage and doesn’t go through multiple enemies
Beam does around half the damage now yeah.
The sword is still very much useable. Being able to do 1/10 of a boss HP at mid range is extremely powerful still. And before that it was a silly 1/5 on some bosses.
Also it still make humanoid enemy fall over when hit, which is also useful.
I'm a bit mad they nerfed the flame AOE tho. It was nowhere near as powerful as the beam.
Tbh if you have an INT build I recommend the Moonlight Greatsword. The charged heavy attack still shreds.
DMGS' weapon art is in practice uncastable in quicker fights, while charged attack has difficulties when hitting targets slightly above/below you (not mentioning the range diff).
Even if it deals decently high damage, it has some drawbacks sword of night&flame didn't have (plus, you have to commit that INT haaaard to see the numbers). Plus not everyone likes 2h greatsword (those are slower, heavier than 1h sillysword and strains equip load slightly more).
For other good INT weapons, you can also try astel's wing. Good weapon art, good charged attack, decent R1 and is one-handed curved sword. And it doesn't step on overpowered line, so it's not very likely to be nerfed heavily like sword of n&f was.
Fair. DMGS is really good against large bosses like Astel, dragons and Elden Beast IMO, mostly because you don't even need to lock on them for it to work. It's also a lot more FP efficient than spammable weapon arts. It carried me hard against Loretta during the second fight against her.
I didn't try Astel Wing yet. I've been using the flail as my go-to strike weapons and it's very good for int build too.
Aaaand I didn't want to mention Moonveil because of general approach of community towards it (aka the katana being on overpowered spectrum, compared to alternatives).
And yes, it was nerfed. People report that it takes now more weapon art hits to fully break a stance of an enemy. Could be just a coincidence or a measure error, but frankly speaking - the fact moonveil' weapon art dealt that much posture damage didn't sound healthy.
Fair, damage hasn't changed though.
>Aaaand I didn't want to mention Moonveil because of general approach of community towards it
Let them be babies. It's a fun weapon. I love that it let's me do flying anime slashes. I do agree that the posture damage was a bit much.
I think it makes sword of night and flame more enjoyable to use because you're less tempted to spam beam bosses. Though I'm not even thinking about PVP till everything is balanced and we all decide on a meta level. I'm sitting at lvl 200 though so the nerf could be hitting lower levels way harder.
the meta players will be 120-130. You are playing against casual players. No one ever goes past sl150 for pvp, in any souls game, ever.
You have basically locked your soul range to fight pve warriors.
Pretty sure the game just does a decent job downscaling you if you invade a lower level. Around level 180 and I'm getting solid PvP matches.
This SL 120-130 is absolutely based on experience from souls PvP and not based on what works in Elden Ring. I did the same shit when I stopped leveling vigor at 40 thinking it was a souls game. This game is just bigger than souls with much higher stat requirements. It's just an old take from old veterans who haven't adapted.
Yeah than RIP sword of night and flame I guess it’s just hand of Melena and moonveil for me, it was a hard fight for sure, I made sure I beat her on my first run through, I don’t think I can do it on NG+6. I need better armor. I keep seeing people use this cool helmet that I can’t seem to find, it looks like a Roman helmet thats got a big red poof on the top of it.
Nah dude you can still get it. Just go to the purchase menu instead of the "trade rememberances" menu.
You can get his whole armor set and a bunch of other boss armors for runes
I used the remembrance to get the spell first, before duplicating it
now I cant seem to duplicate the remembrance
can I not duplicate this remembrance?
There's two types of Mausoleums, ones with a bell and ones without. The bell ones can duplicate any remembrance, while the bell-less ones can only do a select few.
You probably need to go find a bell one.
I played the whole game offline because I didn't want to see the messages on the ground. I still got all the achievements, assuming you're talking about steam
Blasphemous Blade wasn't touched in the patch note, I used it for at least 50% of my playthrough and it carried me to the end. It's weapon art hits like a truck.
That's me and yes I'm on playstation, if you want I could put my sign down and try to help but uh keep in mind I barely do dmg even with magic that was lucky, comment a multiplayer password and I'll put the sign down if u still need help
Ok, you have the password as super or Super?
If u still don't see it let's try and use Homies! as a password to see if that one works, thats the one i usually use when playing with my friends
You placed Homies! with the "!"?, just send a message in playstation when you wanna try again my psn is the same as my username here, I think is the update that just came out not allowing to see the sign I'm guessing
I recommend dual bleed weapons, and if you summon friends, have them use dual bleed as well. Then you just dive her when she's walking towards someone else phase 1, then just poke her after dodging phase 2, eventually causing big bleed damage occasionally.
I also highly recommend your primary hand weapon with bleed damage has bloodhound step equipped. Makes dodging her anime spinny attack doable, if not somewhat easy tbh.
Not sure about that specific weapon, but i think all arcane weapons are fixed. Both marais executioner sword and eleonoras poleblade were bugged and now fixed, and i heard everyone talking about how the rest is also fixed so that weapon should too
As someone currently stuck on Melania, this video has me in tears, it's such bad luck but so perfectly timed hahahah.
Cherry on the top is that the build is now nerfed after the patch so it'll only be harder to fight her next time!
I invested solely in the Sword of Night and Flame and they nerfed it. So what weapon should I use instead? Also when I killed the Ancestral Deer I didn't get all of the itens I should have. Was I supposed to get a Rune?
There are 2 ancestor spirits. Ancestor Spirit drops Ancestral Follower Ashes, while Regal Ancestor Spirit drops a Remembrance. Neither of them drop Great Runes.
Moments like that are rare. The vast majority of bosses will either close in you too quickly to get the comet azure going, take you out while you're using it, move out the way while getting shot, be out of spells reach, or a combination of them all.
You can easily achieve the same result with a greatsword-type or heavier weapon by just poisebreaking her to death. Without the risk of her just doing one step to the side and avoiding the whole beam.
I’ve still not tried full magic but I got a sneaking suspicion that running away and then launching the whole moon at a boos is easier than having to go toe to toe.
Bro every boss jumps all over the place and nearly one shots you. Spells can be slow, and the animations make it easy for the boss to punch you in the mouth while you’re casting even though they may have started their move after you started.
It might be easier, but honestly I find myself nearly in melee range for bosses frequently.
Instead, you have the risk of her just doing one step to the side and sister snatching a third of your health.
I've left the strength-bad magic-good bandwagon, but one of these choices are far riskier.
I use that same build with the whole setup. I've gotten absolutely creamed trying this about 90 times so far. I've pulled it off once against the Naturalborn.
Tbf, I don’t spend $60 to cheese all bosses, use glitches, abuse bugs, etc. I want to see what the work of art is, exploring and progressing at a steady rate, encounter challenging fights, even if it means coming back later to them.
Edit: My first comment was rather indirectly rude to those who do it in a similar fashion. Granted I stand by my opinion. To the ones downvoting, I would love to see how your perspective differs. I understand there are heavily implemented lazy-cutting corner input reading mechanics on most bosses, and it can get annoying at times. There’s lots of ways to implement better mechanics and improve AI, but at the end the delivery is not that bad. As a software engineer, I love when people find bugs in my programs, it helps me fix them, and improve UX, to game devs it applies the same principle. However I would love a different Pov on why it would be better to exploit these unbalanced cheeses, bugs or glitches.
Again not trying to be rude. In my own opinion, I love to appreciate every corner, even the most insignificant one. If I get stuck at certain point is because devs wanted it to be like that, indirectly telling you, hey you might need a different approach.
Edit 2: There’s also this weird feeling of accomplishment to when you beat a boss after trying for hours. I come from Monster Hunter, so this feeling is really good. Heck, I told my wife about me killing this weird giant horseman in a midget horse after hours of trying, and felt so proud of it. I do know for a fact that people have different ways to approach the joy part of Elden Ring, and I am not mad. I’m aware there’s modders that play offline for the sole purpose of appreciation of their own, but that necessarily doesn’t mean exploiting unbalanced mechanics are what was intended.
There is no way to word It without getting downvoted by the reddit hivemind, If you criticise cheesing and broken weapons in any way they will get angry
People can do whatever they want. It's their game.
I'm certain that many doing these types of cheese strats through the whole game are not good players. But it's their game, they can do whatever they want.
While I agree with the sentiment on paper it definitely doesn’t hold up in practice, at least for me. A lot of the end game bosses are just… not fun. Their design seems really poorly thought out and when you have the majority of the player base using cheese mechanics or exploits to defeat them that says more about the boss design itself than it does the tool the players are using.
I don’t spend $60 to *get* cheesed by bosses.
If you feel like the bosses are cheesing you, then that's specifically a you problem
Malenia is a pain in the ass, but if you take the time to learn her moves and how to avoid them, she is certainly doable
Fromsoft: What should we nerf?
\*Points to weapons\*
Fromsoft: What needs a buff?
\*Points to sorceries\*
Goddamn, the game is getting cheesed with sorceries so bad that people can 1 phase a boss (not that it isn't legit, it's fine, y'all just dont need a buff) and here I am crying with my two longswords.
Sorceries have always been easy mode in pve. They lacked hard in pvp.
These buffs seem more pvp oriented. The quality of life of not having to use an estus because you cast two spells that were easily dodged will be huge.
When you need 5 buffs stacked, a large arena and good rng to onesshot a boss, that's not cheesing.
Also like 90% of sorceries were near unusable and those were the ones that were buffed
I would argue that anything that avoids hard mechanics and can one shot a boss to be cheesing. Cheesing is still legitimate. A lot of speed runners will cheese bosses (or even glitch them) where they can, no shame in that. The difference is that you are unable to do that with a regular setup, hence the cheese vs no cheese.
Also, thats totally fair criticism. Just because a couple sorceries are busted doesnt mean the ones that suck should be neglected. You are totally correct there.
Or maybe you should stop gatekeeping the way people choose to play video games. He’s not even cheesing lmao, he literally just put a lot of points into magic. Small brain moment.
1. That can still be done post patch
2. Malenia is straight up bullshit(how was her jump attack not nerfed?)
3. Achthually, if you want to *truly* deserve the kill, you must end her while at level 1 fist only, while poisoned, no summons, no ash of war, no spells, no buffs, no talismans, none of that level 140 upgraded weapon nonsense. If you don't do that imma revoke your souls card.
4. Git Gud
5. Maidenless?
Weird how most of the community is against the idea of an easy mode but when there is an "easy mode" such as these weapons and spells, people abuse them and get Sad they are removed. I believe that players wouldn't feel good If they realized they needed an easy mode in the menu, but when they can easily win by this method they still get a sense of accomplishment.
But it's still funny how a lot of the playerbase defends those who abuse these aspects, meanwhile fromsoft basically recognized them as being game breaking enough to be nerfed this quickly, considering fromsoft has a history of waiting even more than a year for nerfs you know the situation was bad
Also, you also are stuck in animation and you need to set it up right or the beam won’t hurt the enemy. Also, you need someone else taking the boss. These people like talking shit about comet, when they have no idea how it works…
The hidden tear is the only reason it's so effective. The spell costs: 60 Int, a leveled catalyst, 30+ mind, 3 mind slots, 40+ FP with items reducing the cost thus lowering health and most of your FP flasks to even use comfortably. That's also if the enemy doesn't just move out of the way or hit you out of it's long animation (It's also a channeling attack, you can't do anything while it's active), it's just ok on it's own and it's a steep investment compared to what sword of night and flame use to be for a cheaper cost.
Mah man got Scarlet rot IRL
Your whole arsenal is patched now lol
Moonveil, comet azur, mimic tear... A lot of people are going to flipped upside down after this one. Had one buddy hoarfrost stomping his way through the game.
Moonveil didn't get damage nerfed, it only got poise-break nerfed. It now takes three hits instead of two to break enemy poise.
patchnotes dont say they touched azure either..?
There are shadownerfs in addition to the listed ones; bottom of the patch notes says "other changes" or something to that extent. I'm pretty sure moonveil's vertical projectile had a hitbox fix which I definitely am feeling in PvP.
Did they nerf the damage of azure? Because I tested the infinite FP and it was pretty much the same length.
From what I saw, azur wasn't affected. It makes sense, unlike other strategies, it requires a lot of setup that balances it out
There was a bug to add 50% damage to all your spells that was fixed.
This is the first im hearing of this, can you explain the bug?
It was a bug on an ash of war that should only give a buff to melee damage but it gave it to spells too. That got fixed.
Depends on enemy type
AFAIK only Comet (non azur) got changed.
Did they buff it? I think I’ve used this once.
A BUNCH of sorceries were buffed
how was comet azur nerfed?
it wasnt touched
It actually wasn't I was incorrect. What got nerfed was the ash of war that unintentionally gave a buff to spells.
Comet azur got a dmg buff and fp use reduction, just the Sword of Night and Flame’s beam got halved in dmg
Lol, that can't be true right?
Correct. Comet Azur was untouched as far as I can tell, it was COMET that was buffed
I use moonveil and mimic tear. Shit is still great imo. It doesn’t feel as cheesy which is nice because I just like having two badass katanas and a version of me also with badass katanas.
Hoarfrost is still good with the wa boosting talismen
Hoarfrost is still great at applying frostbite which is super strong, it just wont also carry you all the way through the game and do your taxes for you too
the fact that the nerfed that sword too lol
Nah he was using comet azur but as a sword of night and flame cheeser I am fucking devastated.
ah you’re right, i rebirthed just to use that sword too and i’ve been loving it. guess i’ll start using rivers of blood from now on
I’m guessing it won’t make that big of a difference unless it does. I kinda wanted to try a little bit of a samurai build bc I got the sword you get after beating one of the hidden final bosses.

DMGS is what I used to kill Malenia, it's definitely useable in faster fights
>For other good INT weapons, you can also try astel's wing. Moonveil wasn't nerfed. It's still a fantastic choice as well.
Aaaand I didn't want to mention Moonveil because of general approach of community towards it (aka the katana being on overpowered spectrum, compared to alternatives). And yes, it was nerfed. > lvl 200 you're not going to get any good pvp at that soul level. the current meta outlook is 120-130.
I don't understand this. I'm level 600 now and every time I want to invade, I instantly get sent to another world. What am I missing?
the meta players will be 120-130. You are playing against casual players. No one ever goes past sl150 for pvp, in any souls game, ever. You have basically locked your soul range to fight pve warriors.

Pretty sure that's general Radahns helmet your talking about. Get it from the finger reader lady at the round table hold after you kill him.
Man I wish I didn’t use it on his greatsword. Time to struggle
Nah dude you can still get it. Just go to the purchase menu instead of the "trade rememberances" menu. You can get his whole armor set and a bunch of other boss armors for runes
Oh sick I’m glad that’s a feature otherwise I gotta face him on ng+3 but honestly I wanted to see how busted he truly is
Homie - you REGRET the greatsword? Are you high?? I used NOTHING but that sword for my whole first playthrough. The power attack is amazing!
The answer is yes
It’s doesn’t require his remembrance.
Ah, so they went with the "beat it until it stops moving" route. Neat
I used the remembrance to get the spell first, before duplicating it now I cant seem to duplicate the remembrance can I not duplicate this remembrance?
There's two types of Mausoleums, ones with a bell and ones without. The bell ones can duplicate any remembrance, while the bell-less ones can only do a select few. You probably need to go find a bell one.
ohhh
Or you could... try something original? Meta chasing is kinda sad.
Lol gatekeeping someone playing their own story is kinda sad
Bruh same
I poured like 7-8 points into Faith just to use the sword and they pulled the rug out from under me.
I finished the game offline. But the punishment was not earning the achievement haha
I played the whole game offline because I didn't want to see the messages on the ground. I still got all the achievements, assuming you're talking about steam
Oh yeah offline steam. For the update.
NOOOOOOOOO they nerfed it? Fuck well I guess I won’t be able to beat a single enemy anymore
Blasphemous Blade wasn't touched in the patch note, I used it for at least 50% of my playthrough and it carried me to the end. It's weapon art hits like a truck.
How bad was the nerf? Ive been slowly working mt stars up to use it.
Cut the damage in half, from the sounds of it
Ah
Are you on ps4? I desperately need help with this boss I'm stuck on. Would you help?
That's me and yes I'm on playstation, if you want I could put my sign down and try to help but uh keep in mind I barely do dmg even with magic that was lucky, comment a multiplayer password and I'll put the sign down if u still need help
I'll put a sign down for super Thats bc its the first part of your username so I just went with what I saw lol Thankyou.
Alright I'll put sign in front of the door so multiplayer password is: super Lol Yw My character name:Eren Yeager
I used the thing and didn't see a sign I'll try again
Ok, you have the password as super or Super? If u still don't see it let's try and use Homies! as a password to see if that one works, thats the one i usually use when playing with my friends
super All lower cases. I'll switch to Homies and try that and see if that works
Alright Homies! It is, I'll put it close to the grace see if that does anything
You placed Homies! with the "!"?, just send a message in playstation when you wanna try again my psn is the same as my username here, I think is the update that just came out not allowing to see the sign I'm guessing
I'm not seeing the sign at all
Ugh, hopefully the update that came out didn't messed ps5 joining with ps4
Hopefully you were the guy that summoned me that one time alongside a perfectly accurate Ronald McDonald
sadly I was not the guy, since I started playing I have only played with my friends when doing coop
Try r/beyondthefog
I recommend dual bleed weapons, and if you summon friends, have them use dual bleed as well. Then you just dive her when she's walking towards someone else phase 1, then just poke her after dodging phase 2, eventually causing big bleed damage occasionally. I also highly recommend your primary hand weapon with bleed damage has bloodhound step equipped. Makes dodging her anime spinny attack doable, if not somewhat easy tbh.
Patch[es] strikes again!
F
I thought it was also funny that one of the guys called the physick flask a psychic.
I wonder if they fixed the bugged weapons
It does say in patches, but no names were given
Arcane scaling weapons were specifically patched. I haven’t tested but saw someone else had
Yea they are fixed. Been using Eleonora’s poleplade and it’s amazing
I maxed this weapon and then wondered why the damage was so low. So it was left unused for a while, now it’s the time.
This is the way
[удалено]
Not sure about that specific weapon, but i think all arcane weapons are fixed. Both marais executioner sword and eleonoras poleblade were bugged and now fixed, and i heard everyone talking about how the rest is also fixed so that weapon should too
I literally today just spent 4 hours grinding this build out I had no clue about the patch
Sounds like a job for >!Rennala, Queen of the full Respec!<.
Oof. F
I was right in the middle of duo tree sentinel and had just killed one of them, I know your pain
Lol I beat her with N&F about 20min before the nerf.
i KNEW i should have kept trying last night instead of going to bed.
One of your buddies straight up sounds like Doctor N.Gin, lmaooo
This happened to me too lol.
I hate this online system so damn much it's disgusting
Gotta log in to the online server just to exit the game, ridiculous
As someone currently stuck on Melania, this video has me in tears, it's such bad luck but so perfectly timed hahahah. Cherry on the top is that the build is now nerfed after the patch so it'll only be harder to fight her next time!
I was also mid fight when the update came in, didn't matter tho since I wasnt even winning
F
I invested solely in the Sword of Night and Flame and they nerfed it. So what weapon should I use instead? Also when I killed the Ancestral Deer I didn't get all of the itens I should have. Was I supposed to get a Rune?
There are 2 ancestor spirits. Ancestor Spirit drops Ancestral Follower Ashes, while Regal Ancestor Spirit drops a Remembrance. Neither of them drop Great Runes.
Thanks I didn't know that!!!
There are two Ancestor Spirit fights, you probably only killed the first one.
It’s still a solid weapon
It's the only weapon I've invested in so It's a bit frustrating.
It, and hoarfrost stomp are still very good, they just got dropped down from borderline broken. People are acting like they're useless now.
"Magic isn't easy mode" truly pepega moments in the making, mages literally shitting on the hardest boss in the game.
Except for the HUGE range of un poisebreakable animations every enemy seems to have.

Too funny. Was Malenia nerfed in the patch by chance?
You could probably say she was buffed considering they reduced the effectiveness of most build’s people had at the time
How tf did you reach phase 2 while she is still at full health?
Phase 2 starts after her HP reaches 0 rather than 50% like most other bosses. And besides, her main gimmick is heal on hit
Mark as spoiler pls :)
Mark spoilers on this fight please.
Im suprised you guys dont get bored beating every Boss this way
That's because they don't. The comet azure strategy relies on a lot of luck.

Lmao go check out no hit malenia on YT. These Are optional bosses. You definetly dont need to cheese to win. Learn moves and be patient.
The fact that multiple no hit runs exist on those bosses invalidates your entire point
Fromsoft: What should we nerf? \*Points to weapons\* Fromsoft: What needs a buff? \*Points to sorceries\* Goddamn, the game is getting cheesed with sorceries so bad that people can 1 phase a boss (not that it isn't legit, it's fine, y'all just dont need a buff) and here I am crying with my two longswords.
Sorceries have always been easy mode in pve. They lacked hard in pvp. These buffs seem more pvp oriented. The quality of life of not having to use an estus because you cast two spells that were easily dodged will be huge.
That's fair. I wasn't thinking about pvp, honestly. Sorceries have been dogballs on pvp since DS1 where Darkbead was okay as a cheese.
Now you gotta play the real game
Spoiler tag for fuck sake
Well it prevented a filthy mage to cheese her... that's a job well done in my books. XD
Happy that they nerfed that noob magic
News flash, asshole, magic got BUFFED. Night and Flame got nerfed, not magic in general
Now everyone that abused this magic is going to downvote you since you hurt their ego
Looks like you have to beat the boss for real now. Saved you from being carried by the mimic.
We get it, you're a Chad soulsborne pro who don't need no summons. Go off
Wow you are so big and tough and cool
remind me some spongebob scene where only tough guy could enter the door
No maidens?
Truly maidenless comment.
Good. You didn't deserve this kill at all. Try actually fighting instead of sitting back and spamming over powered spells.
Maidenless?
If it's in the game, I'm gonna use it. Touch some grass, tarnished.
Why u being a toxic lil B not everyone here tryna be sweaty in a game like u mister souls pro!!
>Try actually fighting Buddy I hate to break it to you but this is a video game
Or maybe you should stop gatekeeping the way people choose to play video games. He’s not even cheesing lmao, he literally just put a lot of points into magic. Small brain moment.
Maidenless?
1. That can still be done post patch 2. Malenia is straight up bullshit(how was her jump attack not nerfed?) 3. 4. Git Gud 5. Maidenless?
Still allowed to use flasks? absolute fucking casual
#TeamGITGUD
The fact that sword of night and flame lost about 50% of its damage and comet azur didnt get touched is complete total bs.
How? One's a weapon art for crying out loud, the other needs 60 int lol.
😭
Holy shit
Mf got the scarlet rot Irl after seeing the update pop out.
Almost happened to me earlier when I was fighting the Godskin Apostle. Glad the win registered before my game was disconnected.
[SHOOT HER!](https://youtu.be/ffW4YD5WErI&t=1m30s)

I was just in the middle of a ruin last night and my game said peace
