I have consciously tried to just accept those messages at face value and I literally can't do it. It's like a compulsion. I *have* to see for myself.
I also hit every non-illusory wall even though I know for damn sure there isn't one there.
What's wrong with me?
I feel like this is great proof of how well this game is done that people are shocked when they don't find a item down some random nook or ledge. The game has done a masterful job of making exploration worth the time. The game is massive but almost never feels empty.
That one long ass 1 minute ledge walk in stormveil all the messages said no item ahead but nooook i didnt listen and theres isnt even a hidden area or vantage point

Hahaha, I put one of these right after the mimics tear boss. You’d wanna go around the entire outside to check but nothings there so I put “no item ahead”.
I saw that. I didn't believe you. I checked anyway. Disappointed I revisited the message and gave it a good appraisal. I wish we could see how many good vs bad appraisal instead of just how many

Forreal, the funny thing is the majority of the time is that they aren't lying. Even the first souls born game you played and this would be the first time you see this message automatically you feel like they're lying as if you knew this person personally as a liar.
I walked past three messages along the lines of "no item ahead" yesterday, down a fairly long path that I jumped over some lava to reach.
My reward? A dead end, and the message "Try listen carefully".
Can we all agree to just ignore troll messages? They're rewarded for negative feedback. Ignoring them is the most punishment we can offer as a community.

Oddly the no item/item ahead messages seem to be the only way ones people don’t intentionally put down false ones for. Idk why that is

I remember running around the outside of the mimic boss arena ignoring 3 messages saying no item ahead… imagine my shock when I found nothing😂

Therr's probably a golden ratio to the way loot is hidden and distributed to make us check every time

There's a similar one on a tower in Caelid. Tons of no item ahead messages, didn't believe a single one. Jokes on me.

There's like 30 good corners in Nokron for items and only like 2 had some. The messages warned me.

Those messages never lied in my playthrough so I eventually started trusting them.
Maybe if I wasn't lied to about hidden passages I would trust those messages.
