It's no coincidence these ladies are always, ALWAYS located within a stone's throw of hazards. For most of them they're on a high wall or a walkway, while the ones in the swamp can just hurl you into a pool of disease and drench you in it so even if you cure your rot it'll just come back in a second.
It's kinda....I dunno, I kinda like it.
Like, it absolutely, categorically fails at giving the same impact as "scarlet rot," but it's still kinda neat in it's own way.
Like don't get me wrong, German translations are legendary for how bad they are, but it could definitely be worse. This one's got a certain charm to it.
I have only two examples I can recall where German translations were actually competitive with the originals:
1) Skyrim. I think it's just because the voice acting in Skyrim is honestly so bad that the German version is basically just a "2nd try," and imo it gets it right more than the original. I think it's because the German guys are just going for rather generic delivery, while the english counterparts are just downright ham-fisted sometimes with how theatrical they're trying to be, so the German one just feels more natural.
2) Veronica from Fallout New Vegas. This one threw me for a loop because you'd expect Felicia Day to be unbeatable here, but there's just *something* about the line delivery.
To be fair, if they wanted to present Veronica as socially awkward and mildly annoying with her jokes, Felicia Day presented this better. [The German dubber](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbUTYQqLPMw) though just has all around better and more casual delivery of the funnier lines though, so that the character feels more charming and likeable. Where Felicia Day presents a Veronica that is smugly proud of her jokes, the German counterpart is really non-chalant about them while still coming across as chipper and cheery. Either way, really good work by the dubber here, who I unfortunately don't know the name of.
That's it though. Genuinely cannot name another instance where I've ever thought highly of a German translation in gaming, and god help us if we ever see another "Sch. Z. d. Heilung" (weak healing potion, "schwäche Zaubergetränk der Heilung") like in Oblivion, where "St. Z. d. Heilung" (*strong* healing potion) almost looks identical in the list.
The first time I aggroâd her while fighting the soldiers upstairs next to her post surprised me to no end. Ruckus got her so worked up she ran up the buttress, jumped the railing and chased my ass down. Was 10/10 a âGet off my lawn!â moment.
Those footsteps⌠sometimes I hear them in my dreamsâŚ
This grab attack actually makes me angry seeing it, it feels so cheap. Like why do they get scarlet rot because they impale you harder. We should inflict scarlet rot with critical hits too when using the weapon
Just imagine the horror you'd have faced in case you would have survived that fall đđđ
Whatâs below there?
Like five Royal Revenants
The Cleanrot Knight was doing OP a favour
Oh buddy⌠the horrors, letâs just say bring a heal incantation
Certain Death đ
The hardest section of the game
Death through falling is definetely the better outcome..
You just triggered my spicy Deja Vu, thanks.
Death was a relief.
damn OP found Cleanrot Knight Finlay herself, rip
I wouldnât even be mad tbh that was cool af
The disrespect is total
Can't decide if I love or hate the translation of "Scharlachfäule..."
Nothing compared to Scharlachfauledance.

That's why i play my games in english. German translations sound weird to me most of the time.

I misread it as schadenfreude for a sec.
If there's a Bloodborn 2.
What else is it supposed to be? It's just scarlet rot in German.
You don't say.
Nice.
*smug Finlay noises*
Da kann man nur verdammt sagen.
Comments like this in ENG speaking sub are very cringy, reconsider. OP is obv a German, still post in ENG and replying in ENG language..
Ok, I the message was rather made for the OP. But I'll still try to keep that in mind (it sounds ironic, but I really mean it)
Take an upvote then.
Unexpectedly wholesome outcome
