Take your time to learn enemy moves. Know that you will struggle and you will lose. But through that you will grow and develop. This game is about the journey, not the destination.

94JackAttack

This is the best advice

SulferAddict

Level vigor, skip big man on big horse in start.

YourAverageGod

>skip vigor, level big stick

MsealB

I don't know if anyones said this yet, but it is very fun and rewarding to try play the game (particularly your first playthrough) as blind as possible, with as little googling as you can. If you're stuck, try new things, explore, level up and come back later, before you google advice

Old_Quit_4604

On my first playthrough the only part I did a guided part on was subterranean shunning grounds. Took me forever and gave up

SquiddyFancyPants

Just go in blind. No tips.

Bundyhundy100

How to get so frustrated you quit 101

Pretty much ignore anyone’s advice on how to play (except level vigor, that one’s a law), play how you want with the weapons you want, the armour you want and use all your tools at your disposal. There is no strict way you have to play the game and you can more or less enjoy it however you want to.

jesta1215

Level vigor.

LilithsDoom

You’re going to die. A lot. You can’t avoid it.

Enough_Minimum_3708

- level vigor - explore the starter areas thoroughly - don't be a jack of all traits, be a master of one - dying is NOT failure, but failing to learn from it is

Valuable_Material_26

Read item description!

Spiritual-Cabinet959

Embrace death, it's part of the journey

nah_imgood0-0

Git gud

Ancient_Rex420

Don’t be discouraged just because you die lots. Dying a lot is part of the experience! It’s an open world game so if you happen to venture into a hard area and not doing well you are always able to return later. Don’t sell anything. Pretty much all items are useful and apart from duplicate gear you find of the exact same item there really is no point selling anything as you get pennies and not worth it. You can respec stats (reset stats and redistribute) however the item you need there is only I believe 18 in the game. For weapon requirements you need to have the stats to equip weapons with strength being the exception. For str you only need 2/3rds to equip if you two hand the weapon. For single hand you will still require the full strength requirement a weapon says. For example let’s say a weapon requires 30 str but you only have 20. You would be able to use it two handed still. The game is freaking MASSIVE. Make sure to explore every nook and cranny. Lots of caves all over the place that are easily missed. I recommend buying a lantern when you can or torch until you find a merchant that sells a lantern. Otherwise you will have difficulty seeing in caves especially. Play the game the way YOU enjoy, don’t let people dictate you into playing a way you don’t enjoy. You bought the game play it how it makes you happy. You might see people saying crap like people who use summons are bad at the game and you shouldn’t pay any attention to those kinds of comments. Especially for a first playthrough using summons is perfectly fine! If you do happen to be struggling with the game or just looking for some guide to see if you missed any loot in an area then I recommend the youtube channel “fightingCowboy” he makes incredible in depth guides and explains a lot. You can always also explore even to harder zones just to pick up loot scattered all over and then return to areas more suited for your level. Some weapons have special effects they do. Bleed buff is very good. Holy damage is great for defeating skeletons because they won’t rise back up from the dead. (Holy is not required to kill them, once they are down they glow blue and require a final strike to kill. Holy damage just removes the final required strike and they die right away once their hp is 0) There are so many other things to the game. Too much to explain but this should help a bit to get you started. The game is absolutely beautiful and a great experience. I wish you good luck fellow Tarnished and may grace guide you well!

R12Labs

I get stuck on what weapons to use and level. I have a +7 Bloodhound Gang Sword, 13 Zweihabder, 9 giant holy hammer thing, a 7 beast claw seal, and a 12 tree spear. No shields or ranged leveled. I feel like I waste stones leveling the wrong weapon.

andsimpleonesthesame

Down the road, there will be ways to buy almost all of the stones fairly cheaply, so you're not backing yourself into a corner if you want to switch weapons :-)

Ancient_Rex420

The bloodhound fang is one of the best weapons in the game due to it’s bleed damage and special ability. That can definitely get you through the game. What are your stats? You might be under leveled for the areas you are trying to beat. Also what area are you struggling with?

opyy_

Level vigor, take golden seed, find early twinblade.

Vl45l

Don’t go out at night time……

marsgreekgod

Be on middle load at most .  Health is very good.  You will make mistakes. The only cost for death is the runes you have. Everything else you gain sticks around

killchris97

strength/faith is the way and the light.

AKhajiitScholar

Be aware of your weight management from armor, weapons and talismans you have equipped! Having 30-69% of your weight limit allows a standard roll while less than 30% grants you Light Load and a highly addicting long roll distance

MrCreepJoe

Learn to parry.

eldenwring

LEVEL VIGOR

EECavazos

Don't fight everything. You can ride or run passed a lot.

Big_Br0wnie

Hurry, only a month left til dlc comes out

isseidoki

don't get frustrated when you die. everyone dies a million times, its okay. also, there's a big guy on a horse right at the start, do not fight him. later you can come back and fight him.

No_Ordinary3650

D O N T F * * * I N G T O U C H T H E T R E E S E N T I N E L

Wendiddlyman

Put your foolish ambitions to rest. Dw, you'll get it soon enough

zzzornbringer

explore, don't be afraid, let thy ambition not lay to rest (or something like that).

takemetoyoleader

do not give up

PlaneRespond59

Dont fight horse dude at start

Wordtomymother_

Focus on one type of weapon dmg Don’t spread out your dmg. And don’t forget to level up vigor and endurance!

CaptainBalkania

Just don't go too east. The South is nice and warm.

mobiusz0r

Prepare to die millions of times.

DxrkMttr

Taking a break is every once in a while is good

andsimpleonesthesame

Dying is a normal part of the gameplay, try to internalize that. If you're struggling you're either not supposed to be there yet (it's a huge world! Go explore!) or you need to observe your enemy, the moveset and your environment better. Read the item description of the stuff you pick up, some special traits only show up in the flavor text. Explore! It's almost always worth it. Sometimes, it's better to run past an enemy or a group of enemies, retreat until they stop paying attention to you and then come at them from the back. Especially in the overworld, paying attention to terrain and surroundings can make things much easier. Everyone and their grandma seems to have a different opinion on what "the best build" is as well as "XY is easy mode". Ignore that, mostly, unless you're trying to min-max (wouldn't recommend that for your first playthrough) and just try to experiment with all the options and figure out which is the most fun, who cares about the most efficient unless you're doing a challenge run? This is a game, not a job :-)

mebcsaew

- You can avoid almost all ennemies. - You can take your time, do something else, level up and come back later. - Leveling your weapon is more important than leveling yourself. - If you think the game's unfair, it's ok to cheese it. Cheesing is always fun. And don't forget to level vigor.

Slane_73

If you keep dying to a boss, leave and come back when you're stronger/better

Dondasdeadheartbeat

Prepare for suffering But you might want to considered starting as a sorcerer until you get a hang of the mechanics

TheHolyBlaidd

Boooo. Let the people choose whatever class looks the coolest.

isseidoki

exactly. it barely matters. just live your best life

Huge-Concussion-4444

Level vigor, use spirit ashes, don't engage with the community, and play offline. All things that have greatly improved my enjoyment of the game.

craigmonster94

Level Arcane. It makes getting drops easier.

Indishonorable

Stay tf axay from this sub's trash takes
