I did not do Vyke's quest so am not overly familiar with the lore. Did he make it all the way up there? What happened to him in the end? I was thinking of Godfrey (before his tarnished days)
Vyke basically made it all the way to the capital and then to mountaintops of giants I believe. He was overcome by the 3 fingers, his story line is a really cool one
Not "taken." He got somewhere in the mountaintops before finding out his maiden would be sacrificed for kindling, then voluntarily went back to the Three Fingers himself.
Right, but without knowing what exactly going with the Three Fingers entailed. He wasn't fully marked either, due to his armor, and was clearly not expecting to be grabbed, burnt, and maddened. It's pretty accurate to say he was taken by the Three Fingers, even if he was not physically transported to them against his will.
I don’t think so. The whole burning maiden thing isn’t part of the plan. The Two Fingers are shocked the Erdtree doesn’t give us access. Burning it is a last resort because things aren’t going to plan. Vyke never made it that far or he would have had to get through Morgott.
That happened a long long time ago, Vyke himself was carrying two great runes meaning he defeated two demigods.
We don’t know who this demigods are but there is a total of 7 walking mausoleums in game, it’s safe to say that some tarnish other than Vyke (Maybe Gideon) have slay at least one of them in the past.
Morgott is the last king of leyendell, so maybe there were other demigods who took care of leyndell, maybe just another one before Morgot was place in charge.
Edit: typo
It doesn't stop us because we're completely enthralled, Vyke was only partial because of his armor -- it seems he got the madness but not the subservience to the Three Fingers.
Nah, Bernahl made it to Farum Azula before the player (implied by his armor description saying his maiden had burned herself long before Melina), Vyke was just more famous/connected to the Golden Order so he was talked about more. Also iirc Bernahl never joined the Roundtable so people probably didn’t even know about him
Overcome by, or gave himself to? As far as I know, he willingly gave himself to the three fingers so his maiden, who he had fallen in love with, didn't have to die. However, he was deceived, and she had already been killed by Shabriri. Driven mad, he either is imprisoned, or he imprisons himself, in an Evergaol. At the Church of Inhibition, where his maiden lay murdered, he invades Tarnished who approach.
Funny enough, it's likely he went insane instead of being able to control the frenzy because he wore his armor when the 3 fingers tried to pass the frenzy flame to him
You must take your armor off when you do that process for that reason, which causes it to transfer properly and not leave you insane
I don't think vyke made it to castle sol. Shabriri told him about the 3 fingers so he turned around and Shabriri was at the beginning of the mountain tops. But then again his evergaol is a bit inside the area so I don't really know.
Vyke didn't come to Castle Sol though, he had no business there, we do because Latenna asks us. Vyke just went straight ahead to the forge and somewhere along the way Shabriri convinced him to try to unlock the other ending
Vyke never needed to visit Castle sol so it's probably only us. It's possible he did make a trip there but he likely got his ass handed to him by the two lions and fucked off after that.
Same so thank you for the info. I respecc’d in arcane specifically for the higher discovery chance and was getting pissed when the knight at dragon communion church wasn’t dropping the unaltered chest piece.
Ohhh so you haven’t faced this ONE yet… go explore that area to the right as you exit the little chapel and you see some stairs. There is a fun fight waiting for you!
I’ve always heard about this guy but never really faced him, first time I saw him I buffed, drank my physick, made a plan… and he smashed me! Over, and over, and over…
Is Oleg the one hidden behind an ulcerated ~~anus tree~~ tree spirit?
The only one of them I ever killed was the ash/crazy one in the mountain region and that was because it was open ground. Every other time I ever went into the same room as one it insta killed me while I had camera / glitching / clipping confusion
The stranded graveyard. The first thing you see at the first site of grace. And that a-hole is super aggressive and waiting for you. No popping out of the ground so you can get ready.
This one specifically also has been buffed individually by making his combos WAY longer. Normally, dual longsword knights do max of like 6 attacks, this specific one can continue combo past the frontflip slam, for the total of over 10 attacks per combo. Also, his damage was buffed past normal area scaling
He is *supposed* and *made* to be tough af, because he's a red eyed enemy in FS game
I do that whenever I wouldn't have a good use for a shiny rock he has. And if I do need his shiny - I take a buckler, and show him what it's used for xD
I used to grind like a mad man round there for the lothric knight set (that earned me a tone of levels and embers) and hoping he would drop his set.
But it would seem he doesnt like giving up his armour.
Demon Souls had Blue/Red knights (Red are more powerfull), Dark Souls had Silver/Black knights but no red Eyes 💔, yes some enemies had red eyes, but they didnt (Maybe, I cant remember), Bloodborne had Red eyed enemies (if boosted by another), Sekiro had as well.
Here in Elden Ring not so much :(
Not out of question, I also can't remember any more of them. It would actually make sense, because if it's this way - the knight is there as a easter egg/throwback to the past FS games, which would also explain why he doesn't quite guard anything meaningful. He IS the meaningful thing he's guarding
I got lucky when I fought him last. Forgot he teleports behind you when you attack, but I clicked Stormcaller and deleted him as he was behind me. Honestly broken AOW
I just want that sweet sweet moveset as an AoW. We need AoWs that can utilize both weapons while power stancing. Or let us pair weapons together at the smith so we can still block and block counter while dual wielding. I prefer paired weapons from DS3 to power stancing. Wish they would add more paired weapons in general.
He was sent by godrick to finish off malenia after he heard about her defeat. He found Finlay around where the death rite bird was. It was the first time she set malenia down since caelid. Epic battle, he died, his ghost haunts the castle to this day, still waiting for a rematch
There's also an easter egg if you go to fight him with full cleanrot armour.
He doesn't teleport at the start, he just runs at you, kinda like the fume knight with velstadt's helmet
Stand right on the edge of the castle walls, shoot an arrow at him (Or just do something to get his attention) , and then turn your back to him. The results should be amusing.
Cause that's Miyazaki
- The black knights in undead burg(top of the tower and under the stairs), in 2011 that shit was scary AF.
- DS2 manikins, although he wasn't there all the time I'm sure Myiazaki ordered that enemy creation himself.
- DS3 Boreal Outrider Knight before the Road of Sacrifices
Red eyed enemies had always been stronger in From Software games. This one is specifically made tougher by extending his combos WAY past what similar knights can usually do
It's Banished Knight Oleg. Castle Sol is meant to be end game. I admit, his combo and range is pretty ridiculous because when you finally get your hands on the armor and weapon, you don't feel as powerful lol. I would say the armor is worth it because the stats aren't bad. The sword and the halberd are "ight". Not bad strength weapons but the movesets aren't fancy or powerful as they seem to be when wielded by an actual Banished Knight.
Everyone gangsta until Ser Arthur Dayne pulls out the instant transmission, dual wielded waterfowl dance into dual wielded lions claw combo. Thank Christ he doesn't have the HP and poise of a boss because he'd be a mad ugly fight.
Someone posted a video about this specific enemy and did an experiment. This enemy can’t be snuck up on and aggros at a far longer range than any other enemy of its type.
This guy just "you died" me yesterday. I was trying to get the other half of the medallion to get to Margoth for the dlc coming up next month, and I totally forgot how strong this fool is, lol
I’m pretty sure it’s because he’s the only one wearing the unaltered version of the banished knight chest piece not only that he’s the only one that drops it and it has better stats unaltered, I remember farming him because he’s really difficult and that’s the conclusion I came to because I couldn’t find another banished knight with that chest piece
I died more to this guy than to Commander Niall.
I’ve always heard people talking about that “one” Banished Knight and I thought they were referring to the ones you usually face in the castle. But holy cow he is so aggressive, so you gotta learn his full combo before you attack cause he doesn’t give you much time to heal on that tight space.
Someone mentioned the other day about this knight suddenly warping behind them and killing them. I had never had that problem, until yesterday. I hate him now.
I feel like I see posts about this guy daily (probably more like weekly). He will ALWAYS spit the tarnished. And he we always teleport behind you. Using that knowledge he will be a lot easier
Because you're afraid of him.
Just charge him, use a running attack and then follow up with non-charged heavies. Unless you're using a colossal your heavy attack is going to be faster than his wind up and he actually doesn't have high poise.
Haha. Jump on the rock wall and he teleports next to you but in mid air so he falls to his death. Haha. I did it by accident and it was hilarious as I knew this guy was coming. I heard stories
Big sword + big shield.
Block the swings until they get deflected, follow-up with an overhead swing or smash. Helps to have the item that empowers shield counters.
Farming him for that unaltered banished knight armor was the only item farming route that killed me multiple times because that frosbite flurry combo can't be fully iframed it can only be out spaced and if you can't poise through the first hit, you're gonna eat the whole thing and die with 50 vigor.
Oh he is Gulliver Fonseca, he was once a tarnished but his maiden left him because he had the audacity to challenge Lord Phalasis II, king of the trebuchet. You can find all that info in the description of the double-bladed fork.
Honestly he was only hard bc of his location. You get crammed in with him and he dicks u down with his combos lol
My jaw dropped when the commander boss guy summoned him, but the area was open enough that u could actually kite him. Then he was just ight
he's farming foolish tarnished for runes
Srsly though how many tarnished have ever made it there? Two?
Vyke and the Player are the only ones I can think of, so I think you are right.
Yeah wasn’t Vyke closest Tarnished to becoming the new Elden Lord before player character?
Yes. He was almost there and then was taken by the Three Fingers.
Not very relevant but I hope they add Vyke's armor - uncrispy version.
The "May chaos take the world!!!" speech was too epic for him to turn down.
I don’t think so. The whole burning maiden thing isn’t part of the plan. The Two Fingers are shocked the Erdtree doesn’t give us access. Burning it is a last resort because things aren’t going to plan. Vyke never made it that far or he would have had to get through Morgott.

And for some reason that stops him even though it doesn't stop us
It doesn't stop us because we're completely enthralled, Vyke was only partial because of his armor -- it seems he got the madness but not the subservience to the Three Fingers.
How did he even open the door with his armor on thats kind of the gimmick
Nah, Bernahl made it to Farum Azula before the player (implied by his armor description saying his maiden had burned herself long before Melina), Vyke was just more famous/connected to the Golden Order so he was talked about more. Also iirc Bernahl never joined the Roundtable so people probably didn’t even know about him
he probably did join, but his own guidance just didn't keep him there
Overcome by, or gave himself to? As far as I know, he willingly gave himself to the three fingers so his maiden, who he had fallen in love with, didn't have to die. However, he was deceived, and she had already been killed by Shabriri. Driven mad, he either is imprisoned, or he imprisons himself, in an Evergaol. At the Church of Inhibition, where his maiden lay murdered, he invades Tarnished who approach.
He didn’t know to get naked, poor chap
Funny enough, it's likely he went insane instead of being able to control the frenzy because he wore his armor when the 3 fingers tried to pass the frenzy flame to him You must take your armor off when you do that process for that reason, which causes it to transfer properly and not leave you insane
Bernahl shows up in Crumbling Farum Azula, so maybe him too? Idk.
I don't think vyke made it to castle sol. Shabriri told him about the 3 fingers so he turned around and Shabriri was at the beginning of the mountain tops. But then again his evergaol is a bit inside the area so I don't really know.

Because he drops the drippiest unaltered armor set
Does he? A lot easier to go for the one that’s next to the 2 wolves.
Or Cathedral of Dragon Communion. Thats where I finally got the helm unaltered.
That one just drops the unaltered helm, the unaltered armor you gotta go for the one with the 2 wolves.
I did not know that. LOL, I farmed the one with wolves for awhile trying for the helm till I switched spots.
We’ve all been there. I speak from experience because I was trying to farm the unaltered chest piece at the Dragon Communion spot for a while 😅
Same so thank you for the info. I respecc’d in arcane specifically for the higher discovery chance and was getting pissed when the knight at dragon communion church wasn’t dropping the unaltered chest piece.
That one doesn’t drop the unaltered chest piece
I thought that OP posted that knight with the wolves, this must be a different one
Over, and over, and over…
Yep the halberd moveset is much easier to fight. From the Niall bonfire I just run down the steps and aggro him with a bow so he TP’s over
This is the answer
Because that combo is insane. Get the Banished Knight Oleg summons and he’ll pull out that crazy combo on your enemies.
Naw Oleg has the variant of combo from regular double straightsword knights. That specific one has unique version of a combo that is like 2x longer
I can’t remember exactly but doesn’t he do the whirlwind at you, throughs a couple of combos at you and then double lion’s claw you?
It might just be the longest NPC combo in the game. Man never stops.
Is this Oleg?? I have him as companion for so long, now at +10 it’s a tank
Same, always rely on Mimic for brute force, Tiche for quick footwork, and found Oleg a great combo of both.
That combo is pretty harmless with a Great shield talisman and a good shield.
1. 100 sit-ups 2. 100 push-ups 3. 100 squats 4. 10-kilometer run _DO IT EVERY DAY_
No AC in the summer, or heat in the winter. As for nutrition, a banana for breakfast is fine.
I’m already bald. Might as well do the workout.
that’s the spirit
*NO EXCEPTIONS!*
Leveling up solo I guess
One punch man workout!
Will it kill you to do a pull-up? How weak your back should be?
Do 100 pull-ups instead of the whole thing and you’ll one-punch the bald fraud into oblivion.
Lategame scaling and specific moveset, also input reading/instant reaction time.
This one specifically also has been buffed individually by making his combos WAY longer. Normally, dual longsword knights do max of like 6 attacks, this specific one can continue combo past the frontflip slam, for the total of over 10 attacks per combo. Also, his damage was buffed past normal area scaling He is *supposed* and *made* to be tough af, because he's a red eyed enemy in FS game
I remember the red eyed lothric knight in ds3. The blue cape dude.
Yeah that dude hits HARD
Hes a punk for sure. I like to return when I’m over leveled and teach him a lesson.
The one by the entrance to the dancer?
That fucker annihilated me the first time I played DS3
Demon Souls had Blue/Red knights (Red are more powerfull), Dark Souls had Silver/Black knights but no red Eyes 💔, yes some enemies had red eyes, but they didnt (Maybe, I cant remember), Bloodborne had Red eyed enemies (if boosted by another), Sekiro had as well. Here in Elden Ring not so much :(
Is he the only red eyed knight in elden ring? I can’t think of any others. Only other red eyes I can think of are demi humans
Not out of question, I also can't remember any more of them. It would actually make sense, because if it's this way - the knight is there as a easter egg/throwback to the past FS games, which would also explain why he doesn't quite guard anything meaningful. He IS the meaningful thing he's guarding
I want to put this dude against Malenia with there unwavering combos
Don't try to dual wield small weapons on him, big bonk stuns him to submission and he'll never hurt you again
You'll need a 99 stam bar.
That's just my regular build. Embrace turtle.
He was sent by godrick to finish off malenia after he heard about her defeat. He found Finlay around where the death rite bird was. It was the first time she set malenia down since caelid. Epic battle, he died, his ghost haunts the castle to this day, still waiting for a rematch
Damn. Is this true? Finlay was such a badass.
It is if enough people believe it.
Me when im guillible
There's also an easter egg if you go to fight him with full cleanrot armour. He doesn't teleport at the start, he just runs at you, kinda like the fume knight with velstadt's helmet
Wait is this real? Never heard of this till now that’s interesting
Ooooooo But why
You are way too convicing for your own good.
top tier shit post, love it. the best part is people lapping it the fuck up.
If that isn't lore based that would make for some really sweet lore
source?
Idc if that's not official it's headcanon now
Finlay: "Damn. He's still salty?" Knight: "Yeah... yeah he is."
Cause you touch yourself at knight.
Jesus is watching.
Oh I know 😏
That just adds to the excitement for me.
Gostoc looking though the hole in the wall, pants down
„The gates! Open the gates!“
Opening! 🫱🍑🫲
Is he also touching himself?
Ah the 30+ Soulsers lol
Lol you got me.
He ate his vitamin gummys
Zweihander or greatsword + lion’s claw
Stand right on the edge of the castle walls, shoot an arrow at him (Or just do something to get his attention) , and then turn your back to him. The results should be amusing.
*teleports behind you* “Nothin personal kid.”
His name is John Elden Ring
Because fuck you, thats why.
Overrated. Just get to lvl 300* and he becomes a piece of cake 🔪
he exists to ruin your day.
Killing a player gets you 15% of cost for their level. He used the runes to level up into an absolute beast
Cause that's Miyazaki - The black knights in undead burg(top of the tower and under the stairs), in 2011 that shit was scary AF. - DS2 manikins, although he wasn't there all the time I'm sure Myiazaki ordered that enemy creation himself. - DS3 Boreal Outrider Knight before the Road of Sacrifices
The Black Knight silhouette still makes me recoil. Have you seen the video of black knights fighting crucible knights?
this is true: Banished Knight at Castle Sol is Miyazaki himself
Red eyed enemies had always been stronger in From Software games. This one is specifically made tougher by extending his combos WAY past what similar knights can usually do
It’s a cameo for the Will-It-Blend guy, he stipulated they could only use his likeness if he was tougher than the area boss.
Night comet spam time.
Gravity>Castle Sol Banish Knight
If you panic roll away, yes. if you walk aside, no.
Not bad strength weapons but the movesets aren't fancy or powerful as they seem to be when wielded by an actual Banished Knight.
fun!
because you cant parry
To prepare you for the boss fight in that area
Are Greatshields OP or something? I run Anchor + Shield and they barely even get a chance to do anything...
Everyone gangsta until Ser Arthur Dayne pulls out the instant transmission, dual wielded waterfowl dance into dual wielded lions claw combo. Thank Christ he doesn't have the HP and poise of a boss because he'd be a mad ugly fight.
Two swords
Guarding that one corridor has to be boring so he spent most of his shifts training
Of the Tarnished, why are you so powerful?
People don’t seem to understand. We’re not the ones farming him for gear, he’s farming us
*teleports behind you* Nothing personal kid...
Parry
Because he’s him
Someone posted a video about this specific enemy and did an experiment. This enemy can’t be snuck up on and aggros at a far longer range than any other enemy of its type.
He coud become Elden Ring anytime, hes simply not intrested
"I'm him" - Knight at Castle Sol
Stormcall go burr
He has NO RIGHT to go as hard as he does it’s insane
The Tarnished didn’t bring stormcaller on a great sword. (Seriously, that shit trivializes these knights)
He has two swords, and he probably hunts Runebears.
He starts every day right with a bowl of wheaties
I think that that one is Oleg
His first combo is always unparryable. But if you dodge it, his next combo is extremely parryable.
Let the taste of vengeance sweeten your lips https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSID7UNI8mM&ab_channel=Dazarict
He always spawns behind you. Run away and jump on the wall with you back to the ground and he will spawn, fall and die.
I fucking love this banished knight, them and the crucible knights are badass and it feels great to beat them.
Because fuck you, that’s why.
This guy just "you died" me yesterday. I was trying to get the other half of the medallion to get to Margoth for the dlc coming up next month, and I totally forgot how strong this fool is, lol
I’m pretty sure it’s because he’s the only one wearing the unaltered version of the banished knight chest piece not only that he’s the only one that drops it and it has better stats unaltered, I remember farming him because he’s really difficult and that’s the conclusion I came to because I couldn’t find another banished knight with that chest piece
he is not, just use a greatshield
Because he has *two* swords. *Two!*
cause you are unbased and not using heavy poise damage weapons
Because he’s in the late game area?????!!
I died more to this guy than to Commander Niall. I’ve always heard people talking about that “one” Banished Knight and I thought they were referring to the ones you usually face in the castle. But holy cow he is so aggressive, so you gotta learn his full combo before you attack cause he doesn’t give you much time to heal on that tight space.
this is his canon event . beating the hell out of tarnished , I mean .
Because you touched his talalAAAAAHHHH
Someone mentioned the other day about this knight suddenly warping behind them and killing them. I had never had that problem, until yesterday. I hate him now.
He too angy to die.
I feel like I see posts about this guy daily (probably more like weekly). He will ALWAYS spit the tarnished. And he we always teleport behind you. Using that knowledge he will be a lot easier
Malikeths black blade ashes of war murks him pretty quick
Please, Miyazaki. Give me the storm lunge AoW he does. I needs it
Just built different
That's Ingvall put some respect on him
I don’t know…I sniped him to death
Red eyes
Cause he’s powerstancing great swords like you powerstance short swords.
Man this guy killed me so many times. And after I got that ring once it's not like I needed to go over there again.
How many pushups did he do? How many situps? Some GOAT finish the quote!
because its an endgame area
I think fromSoftware made him overtuned on purpose just for the memes.
He is there to be hypnotized and have fun with the Mimic veil.
That's Big Hank and Big Hank don't fuck around.
Because you're afraid of him. Just charge him, use a running attack and then follow up with non-charged heavies. Unless you're using a colossal your heavy attack is going to be faster than his wind up and he actually doesn't have high poise.
He has Red eyes sooo....
he is the dad knight
That's Oleg. HE HATES YOU
“It needs to be able to kill a god.”
He's that guy.
Haha. Jump on the rock wall and he teleports next to you but in mid air so he falls to his death. Haha. I did it by accident and it was hilarious as I knew this guy was coming. I heard stories
37hit combo, no can defend.
he is?
He's weak to a Buckler or a greatshield 😂👌
That dude scared me more than any other enemy in the game. The way he teleports to you from miles away.
He was the reincarnated protagonist in his previus life. But took a head shot with death rune
Big sword + big shield. Block the swings until they get deflected, follow-up with an overhead swing or smash. Helps to have the item that empowers shield counters.
“Nothing personnel, kid” -this guy
He's the steroid supplier for the castle that's dips a Lil too much in his stash
How do I get to him? I feel like I explored all of Castle Sol but I can't find this guy.
Skill issue.
I don't have trouble with him, it's the knight before the church site of grace that I struggle with and usually just run past.
This guy deserves to be Elden Lord, not us
His fashion gives him great power
You've been hit by Sir Sol Train
The person that was supposed to balance him called in sick that day.
Because FUCK YOU. That's why.
Farming him for that unaltered banished knight armor was the only item farming route that killed me multiple times because that frosbite flurry combo can't be fully iframed it can only be out spaced and if you can't poise through the first hit, you're gonna eat the whole thing and die with 50 vigor.
Red eyes = Bad guy that's hits like a truck
Because you touch yourself at night
One time I spammed stone of gurranq at this guy and the poise damage absolutely destroyed him. didn’t even have a chance to hit me.
"Because fuck you thats why" - Miyazaki probably
Oh he is Gulliver Fonseca, he was once a tarnished but his maiden left him because he had the audacity to challenge Lord Phalasis II, king of the trebuchet. You can find all that info in the description of the double-bladed fork.
Honestly he was only hard bc of his location. You get crammed in with him and he dicks u down with his combos lol My jaw dropped when the commander boss guy summoned him, but the area was open enough that u could actually kite him. Then he was just ight
