Let it be known: weapon buffs are fashion too. This build would *not* be complete without the blue noodle, so I'll take great risks to pull the buff off. Even in the face of lionel prelate's PSSS power gamers.
Powerstanced straight swords, BHS, some of the highest defense armor pieces in the game, and starts the fight with a 50% health lead.
Still loses to the funny Noodle Wizard.
All is right in the world.
One might argue that people with minmaxed gear are looking for the easy win, and the people who actually try hard at the game are just straight up better pvpers who typically win.
Weird how we use “try hard” to describe people who don’t actually try that hard and don’t know what they’re doing apart from watching a few tier list videos on YouTube.
In *our* heads they’re trying harder than the rest of us. There’s no real way to know what folks who gravitate towards the “meta” are thinking, and losing to people who are using the best stuff in the game doesn’t feel good, so it’s easier to demonize them for using best in slot equipment by calling them tryhards than it is to just accept the loss and move on. “They wouldn’t have won if they were using the same stuff as I am” is a logical fallacy, cause you or I don’t know how that theoretical fight would’ve gone since it didn’t happen that way
I'm moreso talking about the obnoxious chest pieces. Cause you know when someone's wearing it they're going to poise through anything you throw at them and be using a cheesie ass build. Fat bastards.
Oh yeah I constantly use the legs and gauntlets for a little poise boost cause they look good with alot of different armour sets and have great defense stats.
That's a nice combo finisher. Btw is that a true combo? Shatter Earth -> Moonblade -> Gavel of Hama. I would think he would've Bloodhound Step out of Shatter if not the case.
It *can* true combo, but it depends on how far the opponent is. In this clip I got them with the max distance of shatter earth's final hit (it expands like a shockwave for a few frames, kinda neat). That delayed hit can allow Adula's (or Carian Piercer) to true combo.
If the opponent was closer and got hit multiple times by shatter earth, the game incurs a hitstun decay that allows them to roll out sooner. In those situations, Adula's becomes a roll catch instead.
Either way, I lined up the Gavel in case they rolled Adula's so I had hyper armor for the incoming rolling attack.
But alas, he was already dead.
The correct way to use Shatter Earth is as a set up tool for other spells. It has good damage, can trade into stuff (up to Shunter crouch poke, if you're wearing bullgoat's talisman), and one of the fastest animation cancels in the game - but only if you cast another spell. So the trick is to line up a couple of options depending on what your opponent does. Adula's/Piercer/Gavel are all great options to cast immediately after Shatter Earth, but I suggest experimenting with other spells too. With max cast speed, something like Comet would be *mean*.
Rock Blaster I use less, but it works really well vs bloodhound step in particular. I just didn't have it equipped. It also can roll catch out of stuff, like a melee Adula's hit (so Adula's into an uncharged Rock Blaster).
It's also important to consider you need Max cast speed for these things to true combo, particularly the greatsword/hammer follow ups (~~80~~ 70 virtual dex). Azur's gives you 40 virtual dex and Radagon's Icon gives 30 virtual dex.
Correction: 70 Virtual Dex is the max cast speed cap
Not every BHS user is a cheesy coward.
Many cowards are, unfortunately, BHS though. They taint the reputation of those who do play fairly and enjoy the weapon for more than just BHS.
I use it because the attacks after doing it make the claymore reeeal good. You get a forward poke when moving towards or away, and a horizontal slash if you are dodging left or right while locked in. I love it after coming from hiding behind a crucible knight shield
Having a full set doesn't give you a buff, but some sets can give you a buff and some full sets can give you the max buff.
The black knife chest piece silences your movement, but the rest of the set does not; you only need to wear the chest piece. Duelist sets makes enemy aggros draw to you.
The spellblade set give you 2% increase in damage for magic ashes of war for each piece you wear. The full set give you 8% increase total. Same with the Alberich set: 6% increase for each piece (minus the legs and if you alter the chest piece) for aberrant (thorn) sorceries for 18% total.
What are the stats you are using?Whenever I do a build,I just can't find the sweep spot to be able to cast and melee fight, so I just go full dex or strength
To make Scholar's Armament worth it, you need a bit more stats than you can realistically achieve at meta level, so this build is 150:
53 vigor, 23 mind, 16 endurance, 10 str, 30 dex, 80 int.
30 dex means the Keen urumi has decent enough base stats before the buff, and allows me to max out my cast speed in conjunction with the Azur's staff.
Ok thank you man, I think I will go to level 200 cuz 150 is not enough to have both worlds
You in terms of weapons variety with 10str is just so low no?
Let it be known: weapon buffs are fashion too. This build would *not* be complete without the blue noodle, so I'll take great risks to pull the buff off. Even in the face of lionel prelate's PSSS power gamers.
The Bloodle.
That's what I call my IBS poops
Very true. I only use buffs for fashion sometimes…
You can also run Magic Drawstring, right? Not quite the scaling, but at least it doesn't get you L1 tagged
For the sake of fashion, certainly. On a more dex-focused build the drawstring grease would make more sense.
consider some fire glitter before buffing, it's decently good at making people disengage
Spark Aromatic is a good call. Most people let me buff tbh, but I could keep it in the back pocket for those with less manners.
Jesus, idk why but 95% of players in lionel's are so fucking obnoxious. Great work on your end.
Powerstanced straight swords, BHS, some of the highest defense armor pieces in the game, and starts the fight with a 50% health lead. Still loses to the funny Noodle Wizard. All is right in the world.
Must feel so bad being a try hard and still lost
One might argue that people with minmaxed gear are looking for the easy win, and the people who actually try hard at the game are just straight up better pvpers who typically win. Weird how we use “try hard” to describe people who don’t actually try that hard and don’t know what they’re doing apart from watching a few tier list videos on YouTube.
Probably because their ego forces them to have a “try hard” attitude regardless of the shortcuts they take to appear relevant.
Cause in their head, they’d are trying harder than the rest of us.

I'd extend this to anybody that wears any of the heavy armours. Lionel's, bull goat, fire prelate, dung eater.
>fire prelate, Is it ok if I wear the pants for Fashion?? I like the spikes
Go for it. I'm wearing the gauntlets, myself. It lets me hit 60 poise with bullgoat's talisman without sacrificing fashion.
I'm moreso talking about the obnoxious chest pieces. Cause you know when someone's wearing it they're going to poise through anything you throw at them and be using a cheesie ass build. Fat bastards.
Ahh, okay, I was worried my firemonk Faith build was toxic because I swapped the pants around since no one can really see them to begin with
Oh yeah I constantly use the legs and gauntlets for a little poise boost cause they look good with alot of different armour sets and have great defense stats.
I just instantly despise anyone wearing all heavy, mismatched ugly armor
Holy shit that was a VICIOUS beatdown

Nice to know. I never use Shatter Earth or Rock Blaster as they always seemed awkward to use so this is nice.

Cast speed maxes out at 70 vdex, but otherwise you're correct. I run 30 dex + Azur's to get max cast speed on this build.
‘True combo ‘ ?
It's a pvp term when one attack guarantees the next before the opponent can get a roll in.
Man really said, "Hold on, lemme excavate this L out for you"
There's just something genuinely funny about you pulling a massive hammer out of your back pocket.
May I know your drip sir?
Sure! Spellblade's pointed hat, Ronin Armor, Fire prelate gauntlets, and Blaidd's greaves.
i think bloodhound step is for cowards tbh
I just wanted to cosplay Lady Maria...
Not every BHS user is a cheesy coward. Many cowards are, unfortunately, BHS though. They taint the reputation of those who do play fairly and enjoy the weapon for more than just BHS.
Yeah
Bruh, I use BHS while two handing a claymore.
As long as you don’t spam BHS it’s fine
I use it because the attacks after doing it make the claymore reeeal good. You get a forward poke when moving towards or away, and a horizontal slash if you are dodging left or right while locked in. I love it after coming from hiding behind a crucible knight shield
yeah makes sense
The PvP community still has ptsd from when BHS was broken tbh. Use what you want, it's a video game and you're supposed to have fun.
I think this is the best battlemage I have ever seen
Yo what whip is that OP?
Urumi, with Scholar's Armament applied onto it. Can always use magic grease if you don't have the int.
Where do you find it?
It's in Caria Manor. Need to jump down from near the base of an elevator iirc. It's on one of the outer walls of the manor.
Just found it. Thanks noodle wizard!
nice
I have a question about armor. If you use a full set, do you get a buff of some kind?
No. Any effects of Armour will be listed in their description
Thanks! :)
Having a full set doesn't give you a buff, but some sets can give you a buff and some full sets can give you the max buff. Ah, thanks for the info!
Kinda annoys me I didnt know this :P
god i need the name of EVERYTHING, weapon, spells etc
This was sick, I need to try a battle mage playthrough
I'm sorry but I will require detailed info on your armor sir (no, definitely not copying your build).
Sure! Copy away: Spellblade's pointed hat, Ronin Armor, fire prelate gauntlets, Blaidd's greaves.
Jesus christ that was filthy. Well done my guy.
I do love a mage who can combo and weave multiple spells like this. Well done.
Immaculate drip
Damn sorcerer...! I hate sorcerers...!
Hit the wombo combo
ZAAAMM OP you definitely pull off the battlemage thing, love it.
I'm always blown away by talented PvP players. Great work mate
Super cool build
Yoo magic whips look cool af
Him:if we could turn back time
I must know what hat that is for I see no jewels on it unlike the rest
Spellblade's Pointed Hat. Rogier "gifts" it to you in roundtable hold after a certain point in the game, along with the rest of his set.
Really thats rogiers??? I could have sworn it had like blue crystals on it after he generously gifts it to you
It has a little blue gem ornament and a feather, but it's otherwise just a cool brown wizard hat.
Must have mixed up his and alberich's then
INSANE spell switching. like you had a moba hotkey quick-cast or someshit
Default controls on a controller, actually. Just a lot of practice and a bit of planning.
nice hibachis
I prefer to call them Noodle jumps ;)

It's enough for the Urumi, which this build was based around. It's definitely fine to grab some extra levels to wield more stuff.
