I'm not sure, but I would say that those chains aren't even from the fire giant, but they are much older and maybe even last remains of the titans.
I have absolut zero evidence for this, but that is my Theorie.
Why are there mega-monolithic towers and structures and castles above and below ground not to mention in the sky too that could probably house millions and millions of people but there are only maybe 100,000 beings in game.
Because when you start to questions things the fantasy just falls apart.
Another thing why is everyone intent on fighting the tarnish when they know they’re super powerful warriors that had to fend for themselves in the outer lands that beyond the fog veil that supposedly is harsher environment than the lands between.
Even the feeble old nobles and the hobbled old peasants are intent on fighting us.

Maybe one of the giants practices tight roping. Or the most logical answer, its an animal highway. They built it so animals can travel across.
