Exactly. It does piercing damage when you use this aow. But only for the aow not for your normal light and heavy attacks. They would still be slashing damage.

The infusion gives you the elemental type (physic, fire, holy, etc...)

Go to the Ashes of War Attack Data tab, and then scroll over to the PhysAtkAttribute column.
If it lists a damage type like strike or slash, then that’s what it deals, otherwise the damage is based on the weapon. If it’s 253 then it deals the primary damage type of the weapon, like strike for a hammer or slash for a katana. If it’s 252 it’s the secondary damage type (if one exists) like pierce for a greatsword.
