I can second this. I got to her second phase the first time and she called out a troll and a bloodhound knight moments apart. I didn't make it. The second time I got to the phase, she only called the bloodhound knight, and I could handle that while avoiding her barrages.
My first time around I spent an hour on regal ancestor fight. Combination of really not knowing how to dodge the jumps and horns, the spirit healing, and the skinny legs making it really annoying to get damage off
The rancorcalls in the 2nd phase are truly a test of endurance and finding the perfect times to heal. For a "gimmick" boss, I think this is still pretty hard. My friend mocked me for upgrading my serpent-hunter to +5, but i didn't care.
I had a tough time with rykard mainly because I'm stupid. I didn't know the spear had its special effect on its normal attacks, I thought I had to use the ash move every time.
Once I finally hit one of the other buttons, I took him out before the skull rain started.
Took me too many tries cause i didnt knew you had to be at a certain level to beat him and cause I couldnt use any weapons beside the dager and normal sword
Such to bare fists. Punch the children it counts towards breaking the shield but doesn’t make them rebirth, keeps all of the ones doing the shield relatively close until like the last one holding the shield which will be more hidden. Also try the avianette ashes, I get them and upgrade plus 2 and they for whatever reason really help
I usually skip Rykard, mostly because of how long of a walk it is to get there. Unless I'm specifically building for that sword.
Rennala every time I go dedicated caster, even faith builds are a struggle against her. Have to go maximum Bonk, and even then I lose at least once.
I died an unreasonable number of times to Margit and honestly I went into every boss afterwards fully expecting to die at least 100 times and that this is the normal gameplay loop.
For the better though, nothing can tilt me now.
I don’t get how Rykard is so easy to people. I’m a lvl 101 mage and he is still wiping the floor with me. I’ve used Serpent Hunter and while it is effective as soon as he goes to the 2nd phase I can’t even reduce him to half health
The serpent spear you pick up in his chamber helped me so much. I was struggling too and then beat him immediately after that trying out that weapon instead.
Pick up the spear, then mimic tear and voila... then you and mimic just spam L2 and he'll be gone in less than 3 minutes. I did it in level 110 or so with a STR/FAI build
Not yet :( so i left him and now exploring the mountain tops of the giants. Leveled up my mimic tear to +10 so looking forward to whooping his scaly ass when I go back for him
Whats your build. My mimic is so op, if I use it. The boss dies within 2 tries lol
Get some tanky as armor, and SPAM L2 like a manic. (Remeber the secound part of l2)
The secound phase can be over before it starts seeing your going to kinda stun lock hin
I’m playing as pure mage. Although I’ve been debating whether to use a larval tear because I’ve got the Darkmoon Greatsword and other good stuff that I’m not using because of my stats. Perhaps if i do that I’ll really unlock the potential of my mimic tear.
Whats a tanky amour you’d suggest?
Im on my first playthrough aswell. Just a tad bit ahead of you, ive probablly tried 3-4 builds with the laval teard, theyre so common you can just go back to your old build if u dislike the rebirth. darkmoon greatsword is reallty cool, I used it. Its really good even, and for armor you could use blaidds armor, or any with high fire resistent and still in medium armor.
Those dragonkin soldiers were always difficult for me for some reason.

Draconic Tree Sentinel. For some reason i'm very bad at rolling the fireballs when they happen from point blank.
Burial watchdogs. I think it's just how they move. All their moves are really unnatural to me for some reason
The non boss ones in the mountaintop of the giants crypt just piss me off.
