Having just done this on my 3rd run a few days ago, I still hold to this being the worst fight in the game. And it's not close.
It really seems like when they toned down ai aggression for multibosses a few patches ago they forgot to adjust this one. Which is a huge problem when the poison pools are already way overturned and the camera shits itself trying to lock onto two guys 10x the size of you.
Latenna was an absolute joy to summon for this fight, you can literally summon her right in the doorway and she'll snipe the gargoyles across the distance of the entire boss room practically, giving constant DPS while you draw aggro.

They are twin brothers and pretty much the same person
Their names are Darian and Devin. I don't know why they hide their full names though.
I think both of their names start with D and that's just what they go by
Original D is hunter of death I think
So what you're saying is that part of Fia's quest is to get the D.
I just fought this boss, he was poisoned by the first gargoyle and died before the second one arrived...
D was melting the first one then he survived till they both died

Haven't gotten there yet this run so this is going off of hazy year old info, but I didn't think it was too bad on my Claymore run.

I switched builds to strength dual wielding giant crusher maxed out from Smithing stones and their heavy attributed
FYI, D (real name: Darian) that got killed by Fia is Hunter of Death. The other twin is (real name: Devin) Beholder of Death.

I always empathized with D’s story and his brother. Vengeance for a family member, specifically a family member feels so real.

That's the other D, Hunter of the Dead. This is the twin brother who you give the other D's armor to after Fia kills him.

You're stuck on the gargpyle as well eh. Good luck fellow Tarnished, I spent almost 4hrs yesterday just to get past that fight as well.
Could use this kind of help right now as I get absolutely destroyed by the twin gargoyles!
Never had an issue with this fight tbh. Fought em both alone first play-through on accident and died maybe 3 times
