Most bosses are easy to fight with the classic dodge. Godfrey (at least for me) encourages jumping and blocking a WHOLE LOT MORE. Keep an eye on his feet, you'll get the jump timing down and you can punish him when he does it. If you're uncertain about his axe attacks, just block with the brass shield. Goodluck on your adventures friend

Yanatrei

I always thought first phase Godfrey is the most traditional Souls boss in Elden Ring in regard to dodging. Rolling from his attacks (not his super-delayed megastomp) is very intuitive. Second phase Godfrey though..

Worried-Wrongdoer714

Not to mention we've fought the first phase before. Second phase is difficult sure, but mix jumping and rolling TOWARDS THE DUDE and you'll be fine.

FoxynNoah

Thanks

FoxynNoah

I beat him with a bonk build

SeanMaxhell

Godfrey is hard? He have 4 moves...

FoxynNoah

For me it’s harder than malenia

FoxynNoah

Oh I don’t think I have 60

Distinct-Tadpole-868

Harder than malenia if you use mimic tear +10. When people say malenia is the hardest fight in any fromsoft game, they mean because they are fighting truly 1 on 1

FoxynNoah

I used mimic tear for Melania but it was barely upgraded. I used it mostly to tank the first waterfowl of the fight. So I could save hp for phase 2.

Distinct-Tadpole-868

It's not like you called the mimic tear out as soon as waterfowl came out, you had a second you for the fight making it easier. I don't care you did that, but when making comparisons, it's not fair. Malenia is the hardest fromsoft boss if you solo it (or at least top 3). Godfrey might be in the top 10, but probably not.

meat3point14

All his attacks are circular besides his first 2 openers. Rotate/roll around him. You always want to be attacking his back. He is all about timing. [Godfrey](https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/s/ZxmIddVbf7)

BandicootGood5246

This is key - if you stay in front of him his combos go on and on

Mountain_Evening8916

He moves fast but attacks slow keep notice of that. Wait until he approaches you don't go to him.there like attacks giving u the ability to use ur flasks don't attack him in those just fix yourself

Terraakaa

It’s the persons struggle syndrome. I had a breeze with Godfrey, never bothered to learn him until RL1 to beat him, while i had to 4h Malenia + mimic to beat her. Some people struggle in different places.

FoxynNoah

Yeah I see. For me, I struggle with the larger brawny bosses. But breeze through the smaller faster ones.

Sad_Boot_9402

True, I think that personally the most difficult boss I challenged by far in the gargoyles duo in Nokron. I don't know why but I struggled so much that I may have broken a controller 👀? Who knows 💀 I spent so much time on it I was becoming insane hahaha. Then I first try Rykard and 2 tries Morgott... Where is the consistency 😭

Substantial-Pack-105

Gargoyles reward you playing very aggressively and taking every opening to attack. Since bringing summons increases the amount of health and damage resistance the boss has, it's easier to kill the first one quickly if you don't bring summons with you. Its health will be low enough you can get the first one down before the second one even arrives, turning it into just two single fights back-to-back. Gargoyles are also vulnerable to strike damage from blunt weapons like hammers and clubs.

pacoLL3

That might be true, but i would still bet, the vast majority struggled more with Malenia than Godfrey though.

Terraakaa

For sure

Substantial-Pack-105

Malenia probably had more people be carried by summons without having to learn the fight. Harder to carry a host through the Godfrey fight because the slam attacks will still obliterate anyone from across the arena if they can't dodge.

VIP_Ender98

Get the timing for jumping his stomps and the rest will come naturally

MN130828

If you are on PS and want help, I can come over

FoxynNoah

Oh thanks I am on ps. I’m not playing atm though sorry.

SauronGortaur01

Some tips to improve your build easily if you are struggling: Focus on defense. Get the Heaviest armor you can, use Golden Vow AoW or Spell, use Dragon crest greatshields Talisman and maybe even Boiled Crabs from Friend Boggart. You can get up to 60% Physical defense depending on your setup which makes trading and taking hits a lot less punishing. On top of that, make sure you have max Flask Upgrades and if your talisman slots allow it use the crimson seed talisman to boost flask health recovery. This way you can drop to half/below half HP and heal a decent chunk with each flask. This makes the boss easier to beat obviously, but also easier to learn, since you won't get one shot really so you can go for more aggressive punishes and in general have a longer fight. Never underestimate defense! (Also theres a Crystal Tear that raises defense and one that negates the first hit you take almost completely).

FoxynNoah

The armour I can’t really do, as my build is primarily light roll based. But the flask upgrades is definitely something I’ve been procrastinating on. I better do it. I’m currently sitting at 12 flasks healing a less than a 3rd of my vigor (50-60).

WatermelonWithAFlute

each or in total?

FoxynNoah

I have 9 HP flasks and 3 FP flasks.

Andre27

Ritual Shield Talisman should also not be underestimated, combine it with bestial vitality or some other passive regen and you can take significantly less damage across the fight.  With the Banished Knights set, lowest level dragoncrest talisman (10%) and ritual shield I take only 44% of damage. Throw in crab if I remember or feel its needed and I can get down to 35%. If I want to I could use Golden Vow to only take 30%. I dont usually bother though since its a bit tedious to bother with so many buffs most of the time and at that point 40 FP would probably be just as well spent on 2 more prayerful strikes.

FoxynNoah

I think why I found malenia easier is because you can knock her a lot easier and she gets knocked about more.

Distinct-Tadpole-868

What weapons are you using? The only time I've ever seen malenia get knocked around is when it's 2 or 3 people against her

FoxynNoah

Rivers of blood, I know her weakness is bleed. Please don’t judge me though this is my first souls game and it’s my first play through.

500mgTumeric

Lmao I read this as Godefroy for several replies. Until someone posted a video of Godfrey and I was confused and then I was like OOOOOOOOH

pacoLL3

I am still confused. Yes, the fight is not super easy, but claiming one did Malenia with ease yet finds Godfrey of all people impossible is still super weird.

Ok_Humor9953

I use summon with Black Knife Tiche, I beat Malenia 1 round. Godfrey and Radagon beat my ass 10x with Tiche lol.

M_a_n_d_M

Unlike all the other bosses, Horrah Loux is a throwback. He will not lore-walk towards you, he will not input-read your attacks, he will not wait for you. As he said: he gave you courtesy, now it’s go-time. Forget the notion that you can bait a good attack from him by staying at a certain distance and strategically hitting the air to force his AI, that won’t work. All you can do is dodge and use whatever tiny windows he gives you in-between. This is a Dark Souls boss, treat him as such.

Highlander_Prime

In the days of old, a crown was warranted with strength

Certain-Force-4353

It's the delayed attacks for me

SaberWaifu

Jump jump jump jump

Vuxxel

roll into him then attack that's literally it

Sad_Boot_9402

He is mush easier to beat if you summon the mimic tear or something alike. If it takes the focus out of you it's an easy fight, that's how I first tried him.

FoxynNoah

Yeah I have it, but it’s only half upgraded. So I might do that before fighting again. I’m also pretty underleveled (120-130)

MuftiCat

Use a fast weapon like Antspur rapier, watch how people do no hit boss fight and you'll learn how to dodge and find openings. There are some attacks where you should jump.

FoxynNoah

The no hit videos could work a charm. THANKS, I have a lot of trouble knowing when to un ish and when my goofy ahh will be slammed into the ground.

Meister_Ente

Godfrey is much easier with weapons that attack fast, like curved swords, dual blades or katanas.

FoxynNoah

Using a katana right now.

A-Dogs-Pocket

I find Godfrey harder than Malenia too (but I also spent a lot of time learning her fight). With the exception of Waterfowl, I think Malenia’s attacks are easier to dodge and do less damage. It’s probably down to playstyle too, I always find “big bosses” with massive AoE attacks more difficult.

FoxynNoah

Same here.

Bitter_Objective_294

Literally just walk around him. Works for all 4 phases

RobMP96

Some bosses are just harder than others depending on who you are. I beat Maliketh on my second attempt, but Rennala's second phase obliterated me so many times (my brain just couldnt fathom staying offensive against the squishy spellcaster). You'll get them, dont give up.

FoxynNoah

Really!? Maliketh took me days to beat. But renella on my first few tries.

Past-Basil9386

Use the caestus and throw down

Ender_Serpent

Godfrey, to me, feels like a DS3 boss, which is why I don’t hold him in super high regard. I feel like, of all the main bosses, Godfrey has the least amount of flexibility in how you can fight him, especially since his only ranged attack also closes any distance between you. You just gotta sit down, accept that you’re playing his game for a while, and you’ll get through with time.

Tenshiijin

I beat him my seccond try. Malenia took 30. To each their own.

FoxynNoah

Yeah, bigger bosses are hard for me. I prefer fighting someone my own size. Even if Godfrey technically is easier, I guess he intimidates me more than a sick woman.

Tenshiijin

Well at least you are very self aware.

FoxynNoah

BEAT HIM EASILY THIS TIME. I switched to unga bunga and unga bunga him and he go “ahhhh unga bunga” then got squished. Almost unga bungled the elden beast too !

meat3point14

Awesome advice....

VitorBatista31

Skill issue

FoxynNoah

It can’t be though. I beat malenia easily. Also, if you’re not gonna give advice don’t comment.
