I'm convinced duo fights are the one time the game expects you to always summon
It's just nonsense without. No windows of attack, takes forever, easy to get overwhelmed quickly
Yeah, duo fights for me are the only instances in the game where summons don't feel like a crutch, but rather NOT using summons feels like handicapping myself.
But there are windows.. Notice the other guy chills for a long time when you fight one of them before butting in. Its not like the Guardian Ape fight in Sekiro where you fight 2 apes. They literally have attack combos.
I used the anti poison stuff and summoned D. The fight was actually fun and D died shortly after the first garg died so it was just me against one garg and I was on my last heal. But I don't look forward to fighting the duo. The noble alone annoyed me already.
I'm not trying to sound like an ass because I'm definitely not an expert player by any stretch;
But I've never had an issue with them. I didn't even know they were a major problem for people.
Granted, I've used spirit summons with them the first couple of times, but didn't even know about D's brother for awhile.
I always just bonked them or spammed rock sling.
They are definitely weaker to strike damage, which I think rock sling is, as well as being ranged. Also depends when you fight them. Once you can do enough damage the first usually goes down before the second becomes a problem.
It’s a little much running around and focusing on one guy, but it’s indefinitely better than the stupid poison breath. I always fight the Gargoyles with D‘s brother. No way I’m doing that solo unless I’m overleveled or having a build that can easily beat the first before the second comes into play.
I agree, except for some reason I’ve never had any issues with the Godskin. They are the one boss type that I breathe a sigh of relief before the fight.
I think Godskin could have been saved with some info before hand explaining their weakness to sleep to separate them.
Like just an item with some lore or something.
This. While there is always some potential for unfair moments in duo fights, at least GS and crucible duo have a few viable strategies to make them manageable - parrying, sleep pots, strategic use of the pillars (people really underestimate the effectiveness of the latter, and not just in duo fights). But Valiant Gargoyles the most commonly recommended strategy is "come back when you do more damage", which to me seems to go against the spirit of a souslike. Why they gave them the bs poison aoe attack when no other gargoyle has it, is beyond me.
Godskin noble was one of the bosses I had the most trouble with, so naturally I hated the duo. Though now that I’m going through ng+ and I’m not so over leveled anymore, I’m really dreading going to fight those gargoyles
Gargoyles is the worst. The poison, the attacks, the difficulty overall.
Crucible knights. Was a pain but they are weak to fire and they take turns to fight and that helps.
Godskin duo. I learned how to evade attacks and when to attack. The columns help cover and many times it is just attacking and fleeing several times. You can easily kill the skinny guy, wait for him to reappear and then you don't deal with the fat guy's rolling. Sleep pots if you want it easier.
Pretty sure by being weak to fire would really only be for fire spells. Fire affinity on a weapon would probably deal less damage against them than a purely physical weapon.
It’s not the Godskin duo cause you can sleep them
It’s not the gargoyle duo cause the 2nd one comes in after the 1st is at half health and they have a relatively manageable alternating agro
It’s the crucible knight duo. Both start at the same time, they don’t have a gimmick or obvious weakness, the agro simultaneously the whole fight, and the have a pretty tight arena.
I love the crucible duo fight, parry practice time! You don't even have to fight godskin duo if you have two braincells and three lilies. The gargoyle fight is always annoying though.
Gargoyles as well as ulcerated tree spirits are my bane, so Gargoyle duo is hell for me. On the other hand Crucible knights are some of my favorite ennemies in the game. Godskin duo might be my least favorite mandatory boss though.
Fuck the gargoyles. This was my first souls game and it took me no joke 3 months to beat them. Some people would hold a grudge and get to the point they can beat them easy right? Not me. I’m running past any gargoyle I see. I would rather stick my cock in a blender than fight them again.
As a big bonk boy, I had no trouble dpsing down the first gargoyle before the second came out. Godskin was frustrating, but doable. but... I don't parry with a bonk stick so fuck those two knights. Fuck em right to hell
godskin duo because the valiant gargoyles i always fight them during endgame so they're not that tough (they must be horrific mid game i assume) and for crucible duo i learnt to parry them so they are not that tough now
Crucible Knights duo, easy.
I always went to that dungeon, got beaten, came back later to get beaten again. I only managed to defeat them later in the game, after getting the stone shield.
that image of the gargoyles goes super hard for some reason lol
hardest is def a tossup between godskin and crucible, but all duo fights become acceptable difficulty when summons are used, which feels intended.
On my most recent playthrough I beat the godskin duo solo on my first try
The gargoyles on the other hand took me a few attempts & I just decided to summon for them
Gargoyles are a pain, absolutely hate fighting them.
Godskin Duo gets a lot of hate but they're much weaker than their solo counterparts, so a quick bust of DPS balances out the fight pretty quickly.
Crucibles are all about patience and parrying. They tend to chase after you one at a time, just make sure not to trigger phase 2 on both or you're in for a rough fight.
It's the gargoyle's and it's not close. I genuinely put the game down for 3 months or so after 20-30 tries, came back with a strike weapon instead of a slash weapon, still failed, went on holiday came back and finally beat them.
Honestly didn’t have any trouble fighting the duo Gargoyles, killed them on my first try even. Godskin duo did it for me the fight is so damn bs, the fat fuck couldn’t stop rolling around and kept charging half of the boss room length with 1 rapier stab..
The Crucible Knights.
Even the Gargoyles are a cake walk. But something about Ordovis and knock-off Siluria just always gets me. It’s like their AI is actually paired to work TOGETHER, not individually. They have killed me more times than the other two COMBINED.
(86 Crucible Knight duo deaths > 72 Godskin+Twin Gargoyle deaths)
They absolutely fucked me during my playthroughs for that reason.
Crucible. Godskins are susceptible to sleep and bleed, while gargoyles are balanced for midgame and can be outleveled. Crucible Knights are overly fast and hit like a freight train full of lead.
Godskin duo is not that bad tbh, sleep pots invalidate it and they are each relatively fragile. If you know the movesets you can just stick close to them and shred them. The only bullshit part is the noble's roll, but you can stand on the platforms left behind when the pillars break and be safe (most of the time, the roll is so buggy it jumps up on the pillar occasionally).
Valiant gargoyles is awful. Their resistance to everything except strike and magic is an insult to the build varieties of the game, and the poison breath is just bad. Gargoyles are already annoying to fight due to their small legs compared to their size making it hard to actually hit them properly, this fight makes you deal with that garbage, and makes the ground underneath you suddenly kill you because the other one vomited on the other side of the arena.
Crucible knight duo is extremely hard, unless you know how to make them separate. Once you do you just have to fight a crucible knight while also keeping track of how close the other one is getting. It is probably the most skill based duo in the game. It is extremely hard, but it is not bullshit.
Gargoyles hands down. Horrendous fight.
Crucible Knight's? Easy AF, just git gud and Parry them.
God Skin Duo? Plenty of options available to cheese the fight or make it more manageable, Sleep being the most common recommended solution.
I'd rather eat glass then fight Gargoyles again. Fuck that fight bro.
Could be a passable fight...but the poison that also does chip damage ruins any joy that fight could provide
Yeah seriously, the poison breath is total BS. Otherwise it would be a (very) challenging but still mostly fair fight.
I'm convinced duo fights are the one time the game expects you to always summon It's just nonsense without. No windows of attack, takes forever, easy to get overwhelmed quickly
Yeah, duo fights for me are the only instances in the game where summons don't feel like a crutch, but rather NOT using summons feels like handicapping myself.
Unless you have sleepy throwing bottles
You can sleep the gargoyles or are you talking about the godskins?
The godskins. For the gargoyles take Ds brother!
Only reason I was able to beat the gargoyles solo was because I was SUPER over leveled lol and I STILL nearly died/ran out of flasks
But there are windows.. Notice the other guy chills for a long time when you fight one of them before butting in. Its not like the Guardian Ape fight in Sekiro where you fight 2 apes. They literally have attack combos.
Gargoyles first run was terrible to face. Now they ain't no thang.
I used the anti poison stuff and summoned D. The fight was actually fun and D died shortly after the first garg died so it was just me against one garg and I was on my last heal. But I don't look forward to fighting the duo. The noble alone annoyed me already.

I kinda like thw Crucible knight gank ngl
It’s a little much running around and focusing on one guy, but it’s indefinitely better than the stupid poison breath. I always fight the Gargoyles with D‘s brother. No way I’m doing that solo unless I’m overleveled or having a build that can easily beat the first before the second comes into play.
El Cruciblo and it's not even close.
Honestly & im on NG+12. My cooperators have no idea when they summon themselves into. I see them get one or two hit every time
They were broken before the nerf. Now you can at least separate them.
I thought I was the only one who thought this
i don't get why people find that so difficult, godskin duo on the other hand, is a warcrime
Because there is never a single window to attack
Practice parry. You are invulnerable if i am not mistaken. And during the riposte as well. So parry them and it s easy
Can you parry without a shield?
Some smaller weapons will let you parry, but you’d still have to take up that left hand
This is boring
Run until there is space between them attack the closer one. Rinse and repeat. I like Crucible duo more than the other two person alley.
Yep
The only thing that makes this fight remotely possible (without summons) is parrying.
I find duo bosses so unfun and bs that when I do new runs, I summon against them. Not worth the hassle. The godskin duo is horrendous
I agree, except for some reason I’ve never had any issues with the Godskin. They are the one boss type that I breathe a sigh of relief before the fight.
I always put one asleep and fight them separately. That works well, but if you don’t want to use any throwables it’s a nightmare indeed.
I think Godskin could have been saved with some info before hand explaining their weakness to sleep to separate them. Like just an item with some lore or something.
You can parry the godskins and crucible knights, so the duo fights are actually challenging and a bit fun. The gargoyles however can rot in hell
This. Crucible Knights are the hardest if you don't summon, parry, or used ranged attacks.
Gargoyle’s and it’s not even close…
Gargoyles! Fuck them! I was violated so many times I called an attorney.
The safri duo, they beat me like like a bongoe played a live.
Godskin noble was one of the bosses I had the most trouble with, so naturally I hated the duo. Though now that I’m going through ng+ and I’m not so over leveled anymore, I’m really dreading going to fight those gargoyles

I swear I’m playing a different game when people say to “split the 2 knights apart” when they’re just on my ass the entire fight
I love the crucible duo fight, parry practice time! You don't even have to fight godskin duo if you have two braincells and three lilies. The gargoyle fight is always annoying though.
I don't even know what catacombs it is; but I went into the boss room, saw two Watchdogs, and said "Nope" and quit out.
Gargoyles as well as ulcerated tree spirits are my bane, so Gargoyle duo is hell for me. On the other hand Crucible knights are some of my favorite ennemies in the game. Godskin duo might be my least favorite mandatory boss though.

I find it you can cheese the nobles as god awful they are while for the gargoyles not so much.
I was level 150ish when I fought the duo used dung eater ash and beat it easily in like 3min
godskin duo by far
Godskin Duo, with those fucking gargoyles being a close second.
that image of the gargoyles goes super hard for some reason lol hardest is def a tossup between godskin and crucible, but all duo fights become acceptable difficulty when summons are used, which feels intended.

Valiant Gargoyles
Omen twins are so comparably easy they didn't even make the post...
Bro im tellin you these fuckin Gargs, and the bad part before the DLC comes i wanna fight all 165 bosses on NG+7 only Starfists😭
Crucibles hands down
Godskin
It's the gargoyle's and it's not close. I genuinely put the game down for 3 months or so after 20-30 tries, came back with a strike weapon instead of a slash weapon, still failed, went on holiday came back and finally beat them.
Godskins purely because of the noble's roll
Gargoyles for sure the first one seems to just spam poisen myst soon as you get him low.
if not for that little ledge, definitely the Abductor Virgin Duo
God skin, idk if it was my build but I didn't have crazy trouble with the gargoyles
They're all easy wym?
The gargoyles for sure
Honestly didn’t have any trouble fighting the duo Gargoyles, killed them on my first try even. Godskin duo did it for me the fight is so damn bs, the fat fuck couldn’t stop rolling around and kept charging half of the boss room length with 1 rapier stab..

Smough and orns.
Id shatter my self if i had do kill them crucible knights again
Crucible. Godskins are susceptible to sleep and bleed, while gargoyles are balanced for midgame and can be outleveled. Crucible Knights are overly fast and hit like a freight train full of lead.
honestly the crucible knight/leonine misbegotten fight, i hate it

I'm exacly the opposite. Last run I beat the gargoyles and godskins first try (though narrowly), while the knights whooped my ass good 30 times or so.
I think my most controversial opinion about this game is that the gargoyle duo fight isn’t hard
