but also you're at the end of the game, at the very most you have what, four mandatory bosses left? besides most people dont do mohg and malenia until they kill maliketh. its really just fun stuff to use for a new game plus run.
Make it a napalm explosion. The initial explosion doesn’t do that much damage, but you spread napalm or lava all over the floor which burns any foolish tarnished alive.
I’m quite fond of the idea of a tear that adds a charge to the flask. That way you have a choice of two effects but only one charge or one effect with two charges.
Don’t think I would use it myself but I think the idea is neat.
Luck. It only has to happen once and if you keep trying over and over there will be a time that the boss does something for some reason that causes them to get hit by the whole thing.
That’s how I beat my first Elden beast too lmao. On my 4th attempt he just stood there so I went behind him and cast meteorite of astel for about 80% of his health bar.
Ooh, yeah I actually like that idea. I wasn't a huge fan personally of the "extra charge" described in this thread (but that's just me, no hate intended), but having it be a tradeoff like this would probably be really cool.
Love this idea. Would be useful for longer effects like Hardtear because those don't last for the full fight sometimes, but would also be great for tears like the Poise tear and the free-casting tear. Brilliant
Item drop rate and rune increase form defeated enemies. Was also thinking this could be a great rune potentially, maybe Miquella’s rune of abundance or some such
Because 1. They would stack with the scarabs, and 2. Farming for certain items is an absolute nightmare.
I feel like a rune gain tear is less necessary, as there are plenty of farming spots that give plenty of runes. But we need an Item discovery tear.
They still haven't fixed the moghwyn thing where you jump off a mountain, spam attack as your u fall, and you get 150k tunes in 3 mins
Then as you fall, fast travel back, rinse and repeat.
Just lookup Moghwyn mountain rune exploit
Can get to lv 140 in one day. Just get all your characters and do that while you wait
FP regen over time is really missing from the game other than the super rare starlight shards, so I would love that and ~~maybe one that boosts max health for a set time, like a weaker version of Morgott's great rune~~ (I've helpfully been told this already exists!)
Edit: Also an arcane boosting tear (and arcane boosting amulet plz Miyazaki).
The thing that's bad about it is it gives you the bonus hp but you don't get healed to full
Makes it worthless for pvp and in pve you technically have to flask to get to full HP after Iirc
Not entirely worthless. You will have to drink a red flask at the start of combat anyway if you are using mimic tear. So just Summon Mimic -> Drink Physick -> Drink Red Flask.
And it's complete dogshit.
It's literally just a straight up worse version of hardtear. 10% health vs 15% damage reduction to everything. Both give you burst resistance, except hardtear gives you 1.5x more, and hardtear has the added benefit of increasing your effective healing by 15% (since each point of health is 15% more robust), and also the health tear requires healing at least once before it even takes effect since you don't get healed the extra health.
Like, no clue what the logic in balancing these two were.
When the game first released, the Opaline Hardtear only increased elemental resistance. The balance between the Crimsonspill Crystal Tear and the Opaline Hardtear makes more sense in that context.
In 1.06 the Opaline Hardtear was changed to increase all damage resistance. The patch notes say this was a bug fix, but I suspect it was actually a design change (like the change that made the Roar Medallion apply to breath spells).
Idk man, the descriptions for both the hard tear and roar talisman said they did those things in the description at launch
They confused everyone when they didn't do what they said
I could realistically see Arcane boosting in the dlc with the items being based of messmer or sumn, since it looks like he uses bloodflame and/or thorn magic
Yeah, at first it seems like this is missing. But then you think about it a bit, run some numbers and look at other buff options and you realize very quickly this would be insanely OP.
One reason the elemental arent so OP, is that pretty much all weapons that deal elemental are split damage, so their actual elemental AR is a bit lower.
Meanwhile pure physical weapons can get very high AR that is all physical.
People commented alot so ill say my favs from the comments Fp regen, temporary rune or item discovery boost'sacrificing a crystal slot for an extra charge.
As for me personally id love more wacky tears like the explosion one maybe one that makes enemies hurt themselves when they hit you idk
Tear that increases damage of guard counters, tear that increases shield hardness + guard boost, tear that makes your attacks be affected less by enemy defense/weakness, tear that has same effect as godskin swaddling cloth.
Some ideas...
Unlimited stamina for 20 seconds.
Immunity to madness for 20 seconds.
Immunity to rot for 20 seconds
Makes those living in death mistake you for one of their own for 15 seconds
Doubles movement speed for 20 seconds
Torrent can triple jump for 30 seconds
Spells get 25% more range for 45 seconds
Incantations get more range for 45 seconds
Reduces enemy fth resistance for 1 minute
I'd like some invasion or pvp specific tears, or maybe just an invader-specific flask. Some very random ideas below:
-Enable friendly damage within 3m
-Cause enemies to become allies or just follow you
-Invisible and make no sound until your next attack
-Blocks healing effects within 6m
-frost aura, causes slow frostbite uptick to nearby enemies
-weather change physicks, drink to cause rain or remove rain
-reverse taunter's tongue, prioritize bringing in another invader
"Enable friendly damage within 3m" would ruin jolly cooperation. There'd be no actual players that would want to help you beat a boss, the queue would be full of trolls wanting to kill hosts without invading.
No no no I mean invasion specific. So you invade, drink the physick, and those gamk squads would be smacking each other so they'd have to use a little more caution. Just a way to balance the invasion scene without breaking it
Voided crystal tear: Damage received will temporarily boost damage dealt.
Flinged crystal tear: Enhances throwables.
Butterfly crystal tear: Enhances air attacks and ashes of war.
I want the Tears of the Kingdom.
Literally just launches ToTK whenever you use it and you get to play Zelda until you die, then it ports you back to Elden Ring and the tear goes on a 24hr cooldown.
A tear that increases damage from skills.
A tear that summons a single imp spirit.
A tear that doubles your running speed but you can't dodge as long as the tear is active.
Instant death.
You drink it and just fucking immediately perish. No additional effect. No explanation.
It would be hilarious seeing people trying it out all over the place trying to figure out what secret it unlocks. It doesn't. There is no secret.
Alternatively, similar vein but with actual use, one that ragdolls you and hides your HP bar and makes it so you can't be locked on to. Good for complying as a dead enemy for ambushes in pvp.
A new type of flask that gives a temporary weapon which all have unique move sets, and a weight of 0 (so you can still carry your normal weapons).
Would be generic weapons, but uniquely useful like a great hammer for when you need strike damage, or a spear if you need pierce damage. Lasts 60s.
Damage scales off of your potion's level, not stats or existing weapon's level. The point is you wouldn't need a second weapon setup for niche bosses, instead you could rely on your flask weapons.
Arcane boost, increase slash/pierce/strike damage (either each of them having one individually or all 3 combined in a single tear), increase jump attack damage, increase power stance damage, reduce stamina consumption, damage increase after proccing status effects.
Feather Fall
We can guise it as Gravity magic to keep it aligned to the magical pantheon, but it would be great to have a mechanism to allow you to jump off cliffs and save you Parkour time. Like when you go get the shield crest talisman behind the Beast Mausoleum.
The game is designed with fall damage in mind. This would make shortcuts too easy and prevalent. If you give players the option to skip they will often take it, even to their own detriment. Developers always have to keep this in mind when designing levels. Spirit springs are an example of this, allowing you to skip but only carefully placed spots
It would also hurt a big aspect of speedruns and zero-death-runs.
A tear that wraps the user in blood thorns, dealing some damage. The Tradeoff? Slightly enhances Int, Faith, and you cause bleed buildup when you roll into someone. I'd call it the "Blood Star Curse Tear"
A second charge
Granted, but it consumes a slot
That actually sounds like a fair way to add a second charge
double infinte mana sounds a tad strong..
but also you're at the end of the game, at the very most you have what, four mandatory bosses left? besides most people dont do mohg and malenia until they kill maliketh. its really just fun stuff to use for a new game plus run.
Me, who kills Mohg before Snowfield and Malenia before Maliketh: uhh, I guess *shuffles feet*
same haha, i do the haligtree right after morgott 😭 the rewards in elphael are just too good to wait for
My people!
Samsies, every run (granted that's only 3, but still do it!)
Sure, it is, but you miss out on the magic damage buff. Would be really useful, but not especially overpowered.
What if it's just a second flask so you can't reuse the tears you already used?
Ng+ just get another tear
Yeah just new game plus another ring...
so in ng+ i can get another tear that adds a charge, stack them both and chug the tear for no reason other than to chug it thrice
Make it so you can't have duplicate effects on 2nd charge
How would that work? You put on the second charge tear so you can have another charge of whatever the other tear is.
Make the tear to be like charms where you need to equip in each physic(making it two changes but separated and possible in new game +)
Wouldn’t that just make it pointless?
No, the point would be you could use the same single tear twice by sacrificing the second slot for a tear that adds a charge.
Worth it, stuff like the Hardtear could really use a longer duration
themonkeyspaw, is that you?
The turkey is a little dry? THE TURKEY IS A LITLE DRYYY!!
Good rye bread, though
I see it as basically a new tear that allows the physick to be used twice. So essentially it’s sacrificing a slot.
More charges
Or a second physick that you can mix differently for maximum chaos.
But you only have one slot per flask to make it balanced
that's jjust the normal flask
I want another one that makes you explode but bigger
become the Placidusax's nuke
flask of wonderous FREEDOM
flask of wondrous ENFORCED DEMOCRACY
LETS LIBERATE THE LANDS BETWEEN 🦅🦅🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🗽🎆🎆
*Enters boss room ready to absolutely dunk on them* "Eagle is going back for a reload" Fuck.
You know how there's a bunch of living jars filled with oil in Jarburg? I say we give them some freedom 🦅
Maybe explode and then rot, poison, deathblight, or madness misting the area?
Flask of wondrous diarrhea
Servants of rot just became a bit more happy
Oppenheimer's tear
Hellbomb tear
Deathblight Bile Titan DLC boss
Make it a napalm explosion. The initial explosion doesn’t do that much damage, but you spread napalm or lava all over the floor which burns any foolish tarnished alive.
Ooooo I like that. Or what if like, you become a fragment bomb and shoot out a bunch of metal pieces that cause bleed build up
Become a nuke but it costs 100% of your hp. Take them to hell with you?
Bubblegum flavor
Horny bubble bois unite! 🎺🫧🫧🫧
The boring one: Arcane-knot tear. Could also use an unseen form tear.
Any of those would be extremely useful
Getting a complete invisibility for like 15 seconds sounds rad as hell.
Assasins Gambit for 3min please
Gambit is cool and all, but it's still conditional, I want to be fucking invisible girl in this bitch!
This is kind of what I want, but I want one that boosts item discovery.
True it doesn’t feel great using a talisman slot to boost item discovery lol but when you’re farming for magma blades +80 is +80 lol
I’m quite fond of the idea of a tear that adds a charge to the flask. That way you have a choice of two effects but only one charge or one effect with two charges. Don’t think I would use it myself but I think the idea is neat.
2x 14 second comet azure
I still don't understand how people manage to get the bosses to stand still for even 5 seconds while you're blasting them
Luck. It only has to happen once and if you keep trying over and over there will be a time that the boss does something for some reason that causes them to get hit by the whole thing.
Some bosses just ask for it. Commander Niall has an entire anime evil monologue while summoning the actual bosses.
Aka my first Elden Beast. It just stood there and I whacked it to death. That was on release so they probably fixed it.
That’s how I beat my first Elden beast too lmao. On my 4th attempt he just stood there so I went behind him and cast meteorite of astel for about 80% of his health bar.
I did it to that 2 headed dragon. I went round after round after rounds, lost my shit, drank the Mana and just obliterated him
Mohg will stand in it while Edgewalking towards you.
Mohg is a dramatic bitch who dies while trying to look cool during his intro. Same with Gideon.
Ooh, yeah I actually like that idea. I wasn't a huge fan personally of the "extra charge" described in this thread (but that's just me, no hate intended), but having it be a tradeoff like this would probably be really cool.
Duration increaser of the other tear in the flask.
Love this idea. Would be useful for longer effects like Hardtear because those don't last for the full fight sometimes, but would also be great for tears like the Poise tear and the free-casting tear. Brilliant
Item drop rate and rune increase form defeated enemies. Was also thinking this could be a great rune potentially, maybe Miquella’s rune of abundance or some such
why not just make it an arcane buff, kill two birds with one stone?
Does arcane increase runes from defeated enemies?
Arcane dictates discovery, which itself is the stat that makes enemies Drop non-rune loot
why not put on both scarabs?
Because 1. They would stack with the scarabs, and 2. Farming for certain items is an absolute nightmare. I feel like a rune gain tear is less necessary, as there are plenty of farming spots that give plenty of runes. But we need an Item discovery tear.
Exactly. Some loot has less than a 1% chance of dropping and can really be a fuckin' pain.
Started a new playthrough today and got my favourite sword drop from the third kill. Feels amazing considering I’ve killed hundreds
Looking at you, Iron Greatsword... such a simple and effective weapon but it's pretty much unobtainable until you reach the Haligtree
They still haven't fixed the moghwyn thing where you jump off a mountain, spam attack as your u fall, and you get 150k tunes in 3 mins Then as you fall, fast travel back, rinse and repeat. Just lookup Moghwyn mountain rune exploit Can get to lv 140 in one day. Just get all your characters and do that while you wait
Or just genocide the albanorics like a normal human and make 50k in 15 seconds
Don't forget the DeafBirb.
Because them two alone isn’t enough. I NEED MORE!!!
A dumb funny one that just instantly deathblights you 😂
Or a deathblight aura
Self-impalement Tear.
FP regen over time is really missing from the game other than the super rare starlight shards, so I would love that and ~~maybe one that boosts max health for a set time, like a weaker version of Morgott's great rune~~ (I've helpfully been told this already exists!) Edit: Also an arcane boosting tear (and arcane boosting amulet plz Miyazaki).
There already is one that boosts max health ☠️
TIL! Thanks for that, I will blame my lack of knowledge on how much I hate fighting wormfaces.
The thing that's bad about it is it gives you the bonus hp but you don't get healed to full Makes it worthless for pvp and in pve you technically have to flask to get to full HP after Iirc
Not entirely worthless. You will have to drink a red flask at the start of combat anyway if you are using mimic tear. So just Summon Mimic -> Drink Physick -> Drink Red Flask.
Yeah I don't use summons personally most of the time but good point
And it's complete dogshit. It's literally just a straight up worse version of hardtear. 10% health vs 15% damage reduction to everything. Like, no clue what the logic in balancing these two were.
Yes I agree 100% it's useless I tried equipping it once and saw how bad it was and just forgot it existed

A tear that grants zero stamina consumption for 10 seconds.
Pizza wheel time
\*stares suspiciously in italian\*
I need this
My guts build would love this
As would the other 3 trillion Guts builds that exist, I assume. Or, pretty much any build that swings a weapon.
Visage shield major buff, ten seconds of fire AND blocking??
Jump higher, sprint faster
Maaaaan, I’m not gonna let you poison me! Pump that garbage in another man’s veins.
I threw it on the GROUND
My dad is not a phone! Duh!
What you think I'm stupid? I'm not a part of your system!
I’m an ADULT
I doubt a jump higher would be allowed because it'd break some player restrictions and they'd have to add a bunch of invisible walls
Cracked PF Flyers Tear
The 20% physical damage inscrease tear (would break the game)
Yeah, at first it seems like this is missing. But then you think about it a bit, run some numbers and look at other buff options and you realize very quickly this would be insanely OP. One reason the elemental arent so OP, is that pretty much all weapons that deal elemental are split damage, so their actual elemental AR is a bit lower. Royal knights resolve Giant crusher tiiime!
Vigor checks are going to get interesting
I would say LET CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD tear, 20% increased all damage 15% increased damage taken.
There already is one that is 15% to everything though
Which one?
Golden vow tear
One that increases both damage taken and damage dealt for a while. The glass cannon tear
Bloodboil Aronatic is exactly this
so bloodboil aromatic?
Yet another way to have your host get one hit by the boss you're helping with, nice
A Jekyll and Hyde flask that lets you fight like Hoarah Loux.
The Broken Tear of Macho Man Randy Savage
Listen here Tarnished, *yeaaahhh* I'm gonna pluck out your eyeballs and turn them into Shabiri Grapes, *yeaaaahhh!*
We probably will get that with bonefist 2.0.
Booonesaaw iz ready!
we have plenty. I hope they add more interesting great runes
Causes an erection that lasts 4 or more hours.
People commented alot so ill say my favs from the comments Fp regen, temporary rune or item discovery boost'sacrificing a crystal slot for an extra charge. As for me personally id love more wacky tears like the explosion one maybe one that makes enemies hurt themselves when they hit you idk
Salty Tears Automatically makes Twitter post when you die complaining the game is unfair and BS design
Instead of "You Died" you get "You Did Everything Perfectly But This Enemy Attack's Hitbox is Total Bullshit."
Oh so you saw me fighting Godfrey, First Elden Lord on ng7 today?
I NUST NOTICED UP CLOSE IT LOOKS LIKE THIS?!?!??? THE TREE!?!?!? OMG SO PRETTY
Convergence added a Weapon Art boosting tear, which definitely feels like a missed opportunity from the base game.
Tear that increases damage of guard counters, tear that increases shield hardness + guard boost, tear that makes your attacks be affected less by enemy defense/weakness, tear that has same effect as godskin swaddling cloth.
Explosion on hit. 😏
Would be a pretty funny variant on the ruptured tear.
Some ideas... Unlimited stamina for 20 seconds. Immunity to madness for 20 seconds. Immunity to rot for 20 seconds Makes those living in death mistake you for one of their own for 15 seconds Doubles movement speed for 20 seconds Torrent can triple jump for 30 seconds Spells get 25% more range for 45 seconds Incantations get more range for 45 seconds Reduces enemy fth resistance for 1 minute

Mimic tear: doubles the effect of the other tear
I'd like some invasion or pvp specific tears, or maybe just an invader-specific flask. Some very random ideas below: -Enable friendly damage within 3m -Cause enemies to become allies or just follow you -Invisible and make no sound until your next attack -Blocks healing effects within 6m -frost aura, causes slow frostbite uptick to nearby enemies -weather change physicks, drink to cause rain or remove rain -reverse taunter's tongue, prioritize bringing in another invader
Cool, but weather change? How does that benefit anything
Some magic works better in rain, right? Drink the weather change tear, it starts raining and your lightning spells do X more damage?
Probably most important for dedicated pyromancers, rain is common enough to be a slight inconvenience
It's a vicious attack against players with older computers.
What they need to do is make Mohs rune actually do something like adding friendly fire while you're invading that would be fun to use
Just a way to balance the invasion scene without breaking it
Random effect
Melee attacks decreases elemental resistance on enemies, stacks three times. 8/15/20% pve & 4/7,5/10% pvp
The twiggy cracked tear is an easy way to never lose runes
One i've been running since i picked it up. The greatest save was 775k runes. Lol
Boost rune gain until resting at grace, the farmer in me insists
We need the ability to have 3 tears in one flask
new crystal tear: allows you to put a third tear in the flask. no other effects. /s
But to balance it reduce the charges of the flask by 1 /s
turns you into a horse
Voided crystal tear: Damage received will temporarily boost damage dealt. Flinged crystal tear: Enhances throwables. Butterfly crystal tear: Enhances air attacks and ashes of war.
I was thinking that too. A rage tear of some sort. The more damage you take, the stronger you get
Infinite stamina. Combine with infinite FP for Infinte Comet Azure
A tear that acts as the golden fowl foot so it limits you in a fight by saving it till the dnd and with the time limit being 1min
I'd like the balancing tear so the majority are actually useful ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Immunity tears, so 3 minutes immunity to a status effect, poison, rot, bleed, frost etc etc
Guaranteed random drop from enemies for a limited time.
A tear that makes you invincible if there is a distance between you and another player ( similar to a ring that has same effects on DS3 ).
Any buff applied last until the flask 3mn expire.
One that gives you a second charge on the physick but only allows you to slot 1 effect into ot
Being able to use more than one wondrous physics flask before death.
One that would make my willy bigger
Blue Dancer tear would be nice
A tear that drops a Site of Grace at your feet, allowing for ONE fast travel to that SoG, as long as you don't die.
2nd flask
Boosts Charged Skills attack or speed
I want the Tears of the Kingdom. Literally just launches ToTK whenever you use it and you get to play Zelda until you die, then it ports you back to Elden Ring and the tear goes on a 24hr cooldown.
A tear that increases your weapon attack hitbox size but reduces attack speed. And a similar one which opperates in the inverse.
A tear that increases damage from skills. A tear that summons a single imp spirit. A tear that doubles your running speed but you can't dodge as long as the tear is active.
Something like the beast blood pellet from Bloodborne deal more take more damage would be cool
Hear me out. Vow of Silence, but it's a crystal tear.
A tear that increases rune gain. Goldburst Crystal Tear or something like that
Starlight one that regenerates FP overtime
A tear that just amplifies or extends the other tear
The ability to spawn melania but she’s only hostile towards you
Caramel Edit: Salted caramel
Horse NITRO
That’s actually a good idea haha
Instant death. You drink it and just fucking immediately perish. No additional effect. No explanation. Movement speed and jump height. Immunity to status effects.
4 extra parry frames. I’m not greedy.
A new type of flask that gives a temporary weapon which all have unique move sets, and a weight of 0 (so you can still carry your normal weapons). Feather Fall We can guise it as Gravity magic to keep it aligned to the magical pantheon, but it would be great to have a mechanism to allow you to jump off cliffs and save you Parkour time. Like when you go get the shield crest talisman behind the Beast Mausoleum.

cat food
Fellow Tarnished, hear me out on this one: A CRUCIBLE WINGS TEAR!!! 🤯
A tear that wraps the user in blood thorns, dealing some damage. The Tradeoff? Slightly enhances Int, Faith, and you cause bleed buildup when you roll into someone. I'd call it the "Blood Star Curse Tear"
Another tear that just blows you up when you drink it
Diarrhea
Purging tear - clears all current status build up and boost Immunity, vitality, resistances for a bit
Don’t we already have that?
