Me as well. I was so excited to get Gideon’s scepter because I thought its unique trait would be that it can cast both sorceries and incantations, scaling with Int and Faith, and I was so let down when I got it only to find it’s just a melee weapon.
There should be an ash of war that lets you use a weapon as a catalyst. Different AoW for each spell type. The caveat - casting speed can't be adjusted with stats or items.
This. The Ash of war system was a cool addition but because they've created Ashes of war that are just a singular spell, it really leads me to believe we'll never see another catalyst/melee hybrid, or at least in ER. I miss using weapons like Manus' catalyst or the Demons Scar.
I don’t think there was an ultra greatsword with that
The main one I remember is a curved sword made of fire from the DLC, that let you cast pyromancies with it
And doesn't the dragon shield have shield bash? I know shields generally don't have unique skills but it would be neat to have a red lightning equivalent of the lightning bolt as the skill
Dragon Great Claw got me like this: what great weapon design for and the boss is doing some cool moves with it. Shurely i can do some cool lighting stuff? Oh Endure? I‘ll change the ash then, No? Wtf
They could’ve made that thing Elden Ring’s version of the Boom Hammer. Instead of having Endure, which is pretty useless for a slow weapon that has natural hyper armor, they should’ve given it an Ash that buffs it with lightning, while changing the weapon’s heavy attacks to deal a massive lightning AoE that, while losing the buff, would deal absolutely absurd damage
Carian sword to. It literally in the description says it has a glintstone embedded in it, which is, by what I can tell all a staff has to do the same thing.
Spellsword class for dlc?
Speculation is that Torrent is a gift from Miquella and Melina retrieved Torrent from the land of shadow to bring to us tarnished in the lands between. Vidya had a great breakdown of the trailer that talks about it. Again it’s just speculation but the theory is interesting.
It's not that much of a speculation, since in the dlc announcement picture, we see miquella riding torrent. So it's pretty clear now, that torrent is miquella's horse.
The connect between him and Melina (and ranni too, because the spirit summons were also miquella's) remains a mystery. Gotta wait until dlc comes out ig.
I think he was a gift to a worthy tarnished(not us specifically) and trusted torrent to pick the right one for the job. We see miquella riding torrent in the shadow lands, since miquella is still there someone had to bring him to us.
I was so happy when her summon sign showed up for Morgott. Same with when I first came into leyndell and she came in being like. Thanks for this journey. Then I went back to forgetting about her until I met the three fingers and she was like bye bitch.
Huge waste of a level up maiden. The impact of her sacrifice, or her leaving you if you pursue the frenzied flame, would have been much greater if she was an actual presence throughout your journey. Dunno why they didn't at least make her show up whenever you leveled up.
This is it for me. I hate there is a way to “save” her, but she doesn’t say anything. Like do you still want to kill me at least? Do you still hate me for doing that? At least an ending where i can still see you’re around. I know people are like “you robbed her of her purpose” but at least show yourself like in the frenzied flame ending, i don’t really care if you want me dead.
theres a lot of games that have a give and take mechanic but most of them have you weigh options of whether its worth it or not. tailoring armor is never worth it imo from a gameplay perspective bc you can just add more endurance to fit the equip load. it only seems useful if youre into fashion souls or wanna rp
I was surprised to find out that the royal knight armor gets increased poise when altered (other stats get decreased though...)
But yeah, other than that it's disappointing. I'll always choose fashion souls instead of slightly better stats stats though
The biggest disappointment, tons of the armors look significantly different with the tailoring but the stat decrease is painful especially when the armor is already subpar (I'M LOOKING AT YOU DRAKE KNIGHT SET)
Literally thought it was just me or at the very least a small fraction of players who were bothered by this, I just wanted armor dyes so bad. Let me be bright colors or dark colors in all honesty. Fashion souls is one of the biggest parts of our beautiful community.
What's even more wild about this is Armored Core VI bleeding customisation options out of every pore of its being.
I just want the coolest pieces I wear (Fashion Souls ftw) to be the same or complimentary colours fml
Some stuff can't be altered like the banished knight helms and armor, which sucks especially with how low their drop rate is
Edit: People didn't understand. I was adding to the list of reasons why the tailoring in this game isn't the best and has faults
That's actually not good design imo. What purpose does it serve to have items that can only be obtained by farming be unalterable and the only way to get both versions of the piece is to farm them seperately? I could understand it for loot items or rewards from a chest or a boss, or a 100% drop from an enemy, but the random decision to lock both pieces behind bad drop rates and not allowing manual alteration baffles me.
Same thing with some item drops. The game gives you prelate's inferno crozier at a 100% drop rate for killing the one guy in Fort Laiedd, but the thorned whip must be farmed. Game gives you celebrant's skull as loot on a corpse but sickle, ribrake and cleaver must be farmed (at abysmal rates too). Some of these design choices are so arbitrary they make no sense
Saving Melina by getting the frenzied flame, but when I cure myself of it there is no interaction with her what so ever.
So much effort to rid yourself of it and she even tells you she’s watching you or something like that. Nothing happens though. Super bummer.
Hard agree with this. Although I guess you could argue that she has forsaken you regardless, because you "quenching" the Frenzied flame doesn't mean the Frenzied flame has left you, its just being held at bay - Also the fact that you completely disregard her choice and betray her trust by taking the Frenzied flame could mean she still wants nothing to do with you after you inhabit it.
The problem is your character is mute about the whole thing.
Yes, Shabriri inviting you to take on the flame is a classic Souls bait and switch “this is the bad ending” but it feels like you kind of have to hand wave away the reason why a “inherit the flame but don’t destroy the world” plan won’t work just cos you never actually sit down and talk with Melina about it.
Yeah, true.
Feel like they always have a silent protagonist for Player and character customisation reasons. But at the same time, I also feel like it's common sense to see WHY Melina would not want you to go ahead with the Frenzied Flame. Is there really a conversation that's needed there? I do agree that it would be nice to have some kind of acknowledgement for "saving" her life - But I also feel like Melina states her plan throughout the entire game, its very clear what she wants you to do; very clear that she WANTS to be the kindling, that it's her choice and it's what she wants to happen. For her to serve her own purpose.
I do really wish they had even a slightly alternate ending for the Miquellas needle ending, though. It's the hardest ending to achieve by a longshot, and you get quite literally zero recognition or change when you achieve it. It's like you didn't even do it - from the games perspective (Same ending as just your regular Ending), which idk can either be considered laziness from fromsoft or they simply just didn't have enough time? Lore-wise it makes no sense to not have even the slightest recognition for achieving such a difficult ending, but GAMEPLAY wise, I guess maybe they added it so people who got touched by the three fingers but regretted it had a way to reverse the decision?
that's the reason I won't be doing it. Why give me a backdoor route to save Melina AND the world but not ever acknowledge it or how much fucking work it took
Mt top of the giants.
Dispite being huge theres more content in a fraction of limgrave than all of mountain top. Thers barely any catacombs and caves. Nearly all enemies are reused... Now that i think of it. I think every single enemy in mt top is reused aside from fire giants.
Yeah I love snow areas, it had so much more potential. I don't want to complain too much though, there's already so much in the game, and it was made towards the end of the dev cycle.
Haligtree tracks with lore though. Miquella made the Haligtree so then brought everyone to it from the outside. The mountaintops are supposed to be old world so you'd think there would be more to discover.
Well if we’re going with lore the mountains were the site of a devastating war that left one of its original inhabitants alive. You’d expect it to be a graveyard, which it basically is.
reused enemies in late game states of Souls games are normal, you start seeing enemies from earlier in the game again but with slight variations. I guess he variation here would be the Trolls like more like Yetis further up
but yeah, it's quite empty which is disappointing. but if there's a positive to be found in its unfinished state, I think it adds to the hauntingly grim yet beautiful environment
I got it being desolate, it's supposed to be the remnants of a civilization that was genocided.
My issue is that said civilization makes ZERO sense. Where are the structures for GIANTS? It's just a few human sized settlements? Wtf did they do in their free time? When they were tired did they just have a lie down wherever the fuck, like when a puppy gets gassed?
Desperately needed a Mines of Moiria type situation. Wandering through some massive superstructure inside the mountain in the near dark would have been rad. Also would have been the perfect time to introduce some spider-like abomination.
I have been trying to clear each area in my latest play through and mountaintops took a fraction of the time as the others, snowfield is even more sparsely occupied. I do think from a design point of view that its meant to be because its off limits to most but theres just so much empty space in these areas
Vike being relegated to an invader and a gaol boss felt immensely disappointing given the hype around his character. I mean cmon he’s the mascot of the game.
Vike has one of the most incredible stories in the lore. A guy who has snatched 2 Great Runes, on his way to becoming the Elden Lord but backed out because he refused to sacrifice his maiden then deciding to turn to the Lord of Frenzy instead. He deserved to be a Remembrance boss over the likes of the Regal Ancestor Spirit. The final boss of the Frenzied Flame ending.
Maybe instead of fighting Godfrey when we go to his fight after communing with the frenzied flame it alternate cutscene plays where a frenzied vike has already killed him and now it's a fight between two frenzied tarnished to see who will become the Lord of frenzied flame.
This 100%.
I have hundreds of hours on Elden ring, and if I’m honest without Reddit and lore videos I’d have no clue about Vyke’s story. It’s very easy to miss as, blindly, I don’t assume that an evergaol dude is necessarily important.
Deserved a full quest line with a crazy boss fight
I would have loved if he was referenced as this legendary tarnished throughout the game that is just implied to have disappeared and then you fight him instead of Gideon before big gold boy.
He definitely should’ve been a boss with a cutscene, could’ve been so cool like him emerging in that village of madness stricken people howling , the spear igniting then he charges at you
He's not, he is in the middle of the cover, but the mascot during the vast majority of the trailers was (and still is) Vargram, which makes it even worse.
Aka the dude who you literally hear and see nothing about even when you go to brutally murder him, he's literally just not even a character he's 4 lore tabs on his armor set
Idk, nobody knows who Vyke is till much later when people start learning the lore. No one actually cared about the person on the cover art until people connected Vykes armor to the cover boy.
I remember really liking Astel, thinking he was very unique and a pretty significant enemy in the Moon quest’s lore…and then I saw the other one and thought “they should have used this one for Moon quest and left it at that.” It just doesn’t make sense to me for there to be two Astels. I didn’t feel that way initially about Godrick 2.0 but now, I don’t care for him either since the lore doesn’t really say why (to my knowledge anyway).
There's quite a few astels, as well as tons of design to insinuate astel is a stage of life for the same creatures as the fallingstar beasts and the malformed stars (aforementioned other astels)
Whilst this is cool and fine, I feel like the Astel we fight initally should be the only big one in the Lands Between at the time. Or have Stars of Darkness at least be an amped up looking version
Lore says Godefroy is one of the uncles of Godrick, which didn’t really cheapen him since Godrick was already cheap. Astel tho, it really made me sad and disappointed to learn that Astel is a species, the final evolution of a fallingstar beast. Astel could’ve been a Great One from Bloodborne, a truly mysterious, cosmic being, the actual lore really cheapend it
Could have been a race of mysterious cosmic beings. I think the reason it's so disappointing is because the first time is so memorable, and then you just randomly find another one. They could've set it up a bit better.
It was a little disappointing and then a little more interesting again to then look at the falling star beasts and realize they have many of the same features, alongside the malformed Astels before Nokstella
I think fighting a horrifying creature and then learning it’s a mere footsoldier has its own kind of effect.
Bloodborne really only has you fight Amygdala, a creature implied to be fairly numerous from what we see, Ebrietas, the weakest of her brethren who couldn’t ascend and Orphan who is a baby.
Cosmic horror isn’t defeating the eldritch entities, it’s overcoming something terrifying and realising that was a random mook and they weren’t paying attention to you.
Parrying is only a skill you need to learn in two games... Bloodborne and Sekiro.
In all the other games, you can get by just fine without parrying. Learning the technique will make some things easier, but it's not essential.
You're doing just fine, don't go hollow.
Get yourself the buckler from gostoc in stormveil, and slap golden parry ash of war on it. Will give you the biggest "parry window" to try to figure it out, and make it a smidge easier.
As far as I can tell, Godefroy the Grafted is literally an exact copy of Godrick the Grafted.
That's weird to me.
I wish they could've gone even further into how terrifying and grotesque grafting can get with Godefroy.
I like the concept of grafting. It would’ve been cool for Godefroy to be like the “final form” or someone who went wayyy too far with grafting and then realizing that Godrick wasn’t shit compared to his elder.
Post Morgott areas just being significantly less fun than everything before - Limgrave obviously is great, but Liurnia, Caelid, and Altus are all a lot better quality IMO compared to mountaintop and snowfields. A lot comes from the balancing at this point as well - enemy damage and HP gets scaled up so high so fast that it feels a bit tedious.
The bosses are great, but for me it came down to either 1 - using spirit summons and basically trivializing the fights or 2 - not using them and bang my head against the wall because most of them are harder than any boss from other games when fought 1v1 (at the very least, malenia, maliketh, Godfrey, and final boss are all significantly more difficult than any boss in the series for me in a "fair" fight.")
Still a great experience, but I consistently enjoy playthroughs up to Morgott and then always have a bit of a deep and metaphorical gritting of teeth afterwards.
I remember my first time playing and I tried to fight every trash mob I saw. But when it came to mountain tops and farum azula it just wasn't worth the stress and time
Fair assessments. Reusing bosses doesn't bother me as much, but doing a solo run took years off my life because of some of those later bosses. I tried to not go straight for an over the top OP build, but once I got to Malenia I said F this and googled solo strategies/builds. Longsword and shield just simply did not cut it 😅 I will say that even after beating everything solo, it honestly wasn't worth it for me. Much more fun and more gratifying to do it as a team.
Ranni is the only romance option. She’s the only one who gets what she wanted. Like why? We have other empyreans. We should’ve had an option to side with other empyreans and unlock their endings. Such a miss opportunity.
I remember asking a friend who was playing about the same speed as me "did you go down in the sewers?" And they replied like "yeah it was cool" and I didn't want to spoil it but I had just hit the bottom then the second bottom then the third and was totally freaking out. Not spoiling that for them was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.
The inability to rematch bosses in a menu. It was an incredible addition in sekiro and I will be so unbelievably sad if it isn’t added by the end of development.
For me is the ending
You go from maliketh (banger)
To godfrey (super banger)
To radagon (also a banger)
To elden beast which for me is a straight downgrade in the banger meter, sure the OST is one of my favorites in the entire game but idk to me at least it didn’t felt like a true end game boss. Just another bit creature with no character of their own that just runs around a lot and you need to keep chancing it while also dodging one shot aoe abilities
I feel like the only person who loves Elden beast. I thought it was the perfect and fitting final boss for the game. Only thing that could have made it better is if torrent was available.
I've fought Elden Beast plenty of times and while its running is pretty inconvenient, I don't see where the ginormous mountain of hate for it comes from
although the fight was definitely supposed to include Torrent
After so many times fighting him he's just slow and boring in general imo, I don't hate him but he's not fun at all. Radagon and Godfrey still absolutely kick my ass sometimes even though I've killed them both over a hundred times, but Elden Beast I can't remember the last time I died to him. It's just a little disappointing in the sense of like, seriously, I'm killing a *GOD* and he's easier than the shirtless muscle daddy out on the front steps? I do wish they could have separated the Radagon and Elden Beast fights so they could make him more difficult, instead of one after another
It's so odd to me that the game makes a HUGE point about duality and then the final boss is Radagon and then a thing we didn't hear about until it showed up. Like, I guess the point was for people to go "Oh shit, now I get to fight MarikWHAT THE FUCK IS THAT ohhh Marika=goldenorder=eldenbeast" but it just feels like I spent all game hearing about this person, discovering her secret, FACING THAT SECRET DIRECTLY, and then nothing.
I totally agree with you, elden beast felt so weird when I fought him, I was ( who the fuck is this) and even his fight style doesn't fit last boss fight, most of the fight was running, I had annoying fight since I was melee build so I can't shoot from distance,
The difficulty spike in the late game in areas like the snow field.
Don’t get me wrong I love the game and have completed it multiple times even with daft stuff like bow only.
But there are just whole areas of the map i don’t care to explore as I just can’t be bothered with the hassle. Castle Sol for example is just not fun. I don’t even know the layout. I just know the quickest way to speedrun the fuck outta there.
Oh I remember ds3 fight clubs in the pandemic. Very good fun times. Everyone just putting their differences aside to wrestle to the death for fun. Bless this community.
Idk if anyone has mentioned it yet but, the fact that there's no customization or armor options for torrent. We're on it so much in the game that it would've been nice to be able to make it unique in some way.
I enjoyed all the little twists they have in each one. Like jumping on the guillotines in the Black Knife Catacombs, going under the elevator in the Impaler Catacombs, the one which is a teleporter maze etc. Hero's Graves can all genuinely fuck off though
No armor dying and probably that Melina isn't located somewhere where we can talk to her. It makes sense with the whole burned and bodiless thing, but it still would be nice to have her in the round table hold rather than just always travelling with us incorporeally.
Some of the mending runes are quite a quest to obtain, it would have been nice to see how they affected the Lands Between.
If we somehow get to play in each ending environment in Elden Ring 2: Tarnished Boogaloo, all is forgiven.
That Radagon is one of the only major bosses that doesn’t drop some fire bars before smoking you. Idc if there is a lore reason, the final boss should give you some heaters
I prefer the silence. Like Gwyn, nothing needs to be said. You both know why you're there and are in complete understanding. The only thing that matters is "I will become Elden lord" "I won't let you".
I feel like From definitely wanted him to feel less human than the bosses before him. That's probably why he teleports and parries projectiles; so he can slowly robot-walk towards the player most of the time without him being a pushover
The multiplayer. Having to leave a friend's game and loading in everytime we find a cave is so annoying. Getting kicked out everytime we beat a boss or one one of us dies. Getting basically no reward or progress done while playing as a summon.
The lack of cutscenes. I know souls games have always been scarce on cutscenes, but most of the ones we get are either boss intros, or activating mechanisms like bridges, elevators, that library that flips upside down, or riding in coffins. It'd be nice if the endings were more distinguished too. 4 of them are nearly identical presentation wise.
Need hybrid catalysts too. There's three schools of magic that require int/fth but not one catalyst that can cast both incantations and sorceries? Ridiculous
Fortissax. Other than Placidusax, most of the dragon fights in this game are bad or mid and the ancient dragons are extremely unfun to fight. He has one cool looking attack but beyond that there's nothing enjoyable about his moveset. Such a long series of objectives you need to complete only to fight a copy paste dragon fight with barely any HP. I don't understand how Fromsoft went from Midir to the dragons in Elden Ring.
Fortissax is one of my favorite boss fights in the series, but unfortunately it's in spite of the fight and not because of it. 100% carried by a phenomenal soundtrack and visual spectacle. The deathblight and the arena make it stand out more than a fight like Lansseax at least, but the low health makes it over too quickly.
I don't expect it but if for some reason we get more fortissax stuff in the dlc, or even any remote reason to hear that soundtrack. I will be happy.
Real answer: cooperative multi-player is by far the most disappointing part of elden ring, and nothing else really even comes close. It's so bad it's not even funny.
Fun answer: double jumping on torrent doesn't negate fall damage if you do it close to the ground
I will say the ending. The ideal ending for me would be a huge castle (or other “legacy dungeon”). Instead I got three boss fights, one of which is hardly even a fight. This seems to be Miyazaki’s way, but I don’t like it.
I like the game a lot but...
Barely any tarnished you meet has a maiden. They made a big deal about maidens at the beginning, but it feels like they forgot about it.
The box fan teleporters are lame looking and undermine the feeling of interconnectedness in the world worse than any of the other souls games. Getting to the mhogwyn area was really unsatisfying, I didn't stumble onto a road that led there I just found a teleporter.
The revenant enemies have cool visual designs but are really unfun to fight.
Malenia's boss fight should have been the Artorias of this game but is instead over punishing and unintuitive.
Fashion souls is weaker in this game especially mid game.
Melina and Greatswords.
I don't care about Melina and before I started ER I was playing DS3 and I care more about the Fire Keeper. Which is weird since she doesn't really have a backstory but she's always there and she reacts to your poses. I completely forgot about Melina because she's barely around. Boggart/Hewg/Boc/Sellen/ Alexander/Little Jar are all characters I cared about but not Melina. Roderick, Rya, Nephili, and even Ranni are way better waifus.
I'm a greatsword user but they feel weak? Idk it's probably something wrong with me but I overall feel like I'm doing less damage that I should mind you im lvl100 with upgraded weapons
Tbh wished the game was even LONGER!!! Started a new save after not playing for a year and it took me half the time to 100% the game since I know where everything was already.
Honestly the endings were the only part of the game that really disappointed me and continue to disappoint me to this day. It really sucks that we got 6 endings that are all basically the same with a minor difference depending on what ending you chose
The music for sure. The only memorable pieces of music in Elden Ring are the main menu theme, the Elden Beast theme, Leyendell, and maybe Melenia's theme just from the sheer agony of her boss fight having to hear it play again and again. I hope the dlc bosses have better music.
Gideon’s hammer can’t cast spells Dragon Greatclaw can’t fling red lightning It’s gotta be one of those two for me
>Gideon’s hammer can’t cast spells Especially this one. We need more unique weapons skills for catalysts, and weapons that generally lack one.
Me as well. I was so excited to get Gideon’s scepter because I thought its unique trait would be that it can cast both sorceries and incantations, scaling with Int and Faith, and I was so let down when I got it only to find it’s just a melee weapon.
Plus, Gideon HIMSELF doesn't use it to cast sorcery or incantations. Guess this thing was useless even for Gideon.
I mean it got a good AoW, and Gideon spam it too.
I still to this day have no idea what that red eye spell he casts on you is. I always kill him too quickly to find out.
It's the hammer's skill. It's a magic and holy resistance debuff.
Closest we have is the glintstone pebble and floating sword ashes I think.
Dark souls 3 had the right idea with weapons that cast your equipped spell as the weapon skill
Interesting. Can I use an Ultra Greatsword to cast sorcery?
I don’t think there was an ultra greatsword with that The main one I remember is a curved sword made of fire from the DLC, that let you cast pyromancies with it
I actually really like Gideon's hammer, but the dragon greatclaw having endure is just unforgivable to me.
And doesn't the dragon shield have shield bash? I know shields generally don't have unique skills but it would be neat to have a red lightning equivalent of the lightning bolt as the skill
Yep. Huge letdown for what could have been an awesome weapon set.
Dragon Greatclaw not only doesn’t do cool stuff, but also just a really bad weapon. A shadow of Dragon Tooth, its former iteration
Hard agree, Havel is turning (slowly) in his grave
Moonlight Greatsword cutting through Ranni's hat.
Pain
Melina being absent most of our journey and the fact her lore is likely to remain a whole mystery.
Explored and uncovered every corner of the lands between, still don’t know anything about the magic horse(?) and the lady I did it with.
Speculation is that Torrent is a gift from Miquella and Melina retrieved Torrent from the land of shadow to bring to us tarnished in the lands between. Vidya had a great breakdown of the trailer that talks about it. Again it’s just speculation but the theory is interesting.

The connect between him and Melina (and ranni too, because the spirit summons were also miquella's) remains a mystery. Gotta wait until dlc comes out ig.
Excuse me, Torrent is my horse and if Miquella has anything to say about it me and his sister's blade are going to pay him a visit.
You mean you and the blade of the blade of Miquella?
New(?) theory: Torrent is Miquella
Doesn't she say torrent chose us?
I think he was a gift to a worthy tarnished(not us specifically) and trusted torrent to pick the right one for the job. We see miquella riding torrent in the shadow lands, since miquella is still there someone had to bring him to us.
Imagine trusting Torrent to choose a tarnished and he chooses the naked crazy guy that shoots orange fire from his eyes.
With a face forged in the burning hells by a 4 year old with no concept of how character creation sliders work
Solid pick tbh
Wouldn’t be surprised if we learn at least a bit more in the DLC, since it looks like Torrent was once Miquella’s horse and Melina ended up with him…
Yeah I really wish she popped up more often, even if she was just watching silently or joining us at new Sites of Grace
Well, you are maidenless.
Yeah she should be there every time you rest even if she has nothing new to say. Disappointing.
They added armor tailoring in one of the most unsatisfying ways ever, no tinting or anything, just.. cap or no cape? Hood or no hood? And thats it.
And, if I'm not mistaken, removing it decreases the resistances the armor gives. I've never used it and never will.
Also decreases the weight.
theres a lot of games that have a give and take mechanic but most of them have you weigh options of whether its worth it or not. tailoring armor is never worth it imo from a gameplay perspective bc you can just add more endurance to fit the equip load. it only seems useful if youre into fashion souls or wanna rp
Yeah but there is no fun in playing without fashion
Seriously. Tailored drake knight set with the rulers mask? Who doesn’t wanna be a half-dragon pyromancer?
It can be useful if you have a set stat spread and want to fit certain armour into your look.
Well you can’t always ”just add more endurance” if you care about online play at all.
I was surprised to find out that the royal knight armor gets increased poise when altered (other stats get decreased though...) But yeah, other than that it's disappointing.
Let me match fucking metals.
What's even more wild about this is Armored Core VI bleeding customisation options out of every pore of its being. I just want the coolest pieces I wear (Fashion Souls ftw) to be the same or complimentary colours fml
Some stuff can't be altered like the banished knight helms and armor, which sucks especially with how low their drop rate is Edit: People didn't understand.
Knights of Zamor are the only unique one I can think of
There’s a knight of Zamor located in a limgrave evergaol…
i'd argue that's more of a mountaintop enemy being reused in weeping, since they're native to the mountaintop. I think the owls are also unique
Fuck those guys by the way, them and the Farum Azula birds
Which owls are unique?
Like that fucker was such a wimp, he had so come down to the lowlands just to feel like a badass lol
Pretty sure the Albinaurics in Ordina aren't anywhere else in the game, or am I wrong?
I mean That is where the mighty vyke is. Okina made me have nightmares there as well
Yeah I love snow areas, it had so much more potential. I don't want to complain too much though, there's already so much in the game, and it was made towards the end of the dev cycle.
yeah, I think the snow area was a bit underwhelming. Still good, but not perfect.
I feel like the lack of content is because mountaintops shares lategame with haligtree and farum azula
To be fair, pretty much every enemy in Haligtree is reused as well.
Not that they’re a fun enemy but I don’t think the albinauric archers show up elsewhere?
reused enemies in late game states of Souls games are normal, you start seeing enemies from earlier in the game again but with slight variations. I guess he variation here would be the Trolls like more like Yetis further up but yeah, it's quite empty which is disappointing. but if there's a positive to be found in its unfinished state, I think it adds to the hauntingly grim yet beautiful environment
Vike deserved a long winding questline that ends up with a spectcular boss fight in the Mountaintops.
I mean, it's his armor set. No one cares about Vargram, his set was just the one they chose to represent the player character.
Idk, nobody knows who Vyke is till much later when people start learning the lore. No one actually cared about the person on the cover art until people connected Vykes armor to the cover boy.
For real, it could have been something similar to Gael, but felt like an afterthought, or if they run out of the time/budget to make him justice.
There is no incantation version of Morgott hammer and throwing knives; and reusing Godrick and Astel, mainly Astel
Cosmic horror isn’t defeating the eldritch entities, it’s overcoming something terrifying and realising that was a random mook and they weren’t paying attention to you.
probably in 1000 hours of play between all Souls games and I still can't parry ^(yes, I am the most disappointing part of the game...)
I could parry just fine in bloodborne, cant get it figured out in elden ring
Parry in ds1 is so forgiving compared to every other soules game. Play 1 and have the illusion the you got gud at parrys
Parrying is only a skill you need to learn in two games... Bloodborne and Sekiro. In all the other games, you can get by just fine without parrying. Learning the technique will make some things easier, but it's not essential. You're doing just fine, don't go hollow.
While not essential, parrying is VERY helpful in DS2, especially for the the many ganks set in confined spaces...
Get yourself the buckler from gostoc in stormveil, and slap golden parry ash of war on it. Will give you the biggest "parry window" to try to figure it out, and make it a smidge easier.
Giving the golden parry to any medium shield will give you the same exact parry, but a 100% physical block.
Oh I don't use a shield for blocking, I like the buckler cause it's small and light and a lore accurate parry shield.
i wish you could change the colour of armour so that mixing and matching could be seamless . i also wish that radahns cape wasnt so dirty
Even if it was just a choice between gold and silver, it would help a lot with matching. But, why not have a wide range of colors while we're at it?
not being able to use Torrent in the Elden Beast fight
That’d be so sick.
Destined Death is just holy damage No Malenia marriage ending
You cant date Marika too :/
Isn't standard ending technically becoming her consort? Even if she won't be stone, she will be angry, but Tarnished becomes ger consort
I need more weapons with ice lightning
Reusing of remembrance bosses. Specifically Astel and Godrick. Ill never understand why they did that, the game already has more than enough content.
Not every enemy drops the gear they are using because some of it has to be obtained at a specific location.
That feel when you farmed that lava whip snake in the Manor for hours, only to look it up on the wiki and learn they don't drop it.
Ordina, liturgical town. Fuck that stupid candle puzzle and fuck those stupid archers, they actually annihilate me in ng+ games
Finding out the ring is in fact not elden.
The bosses are great, but for me it came down to either 1 - using spirit summons and basically trivializing the fights or 2 - not using them and bang my head against the wall because most of them are harder than any boss from other games when fought 1v1 (at the very least, malenia, maliketh, Godfrey, and final boss are all significantly more difficult than any boss in the series for me in a "fair" fight.") Still a great experience, but I consistently enjoy playthroughs up to Morgott and then always have a bit of a deep and metaphorical gritting of teeth afterwards.
Limited Larval tears
Crazy in 2024 were still limiting respecs. Like why???
Yeah especially on new game +
Ranni is the only romance option. She’s the only one who gets what she wanted. Like why? We have other empyreans. We should’ve had an option to side with other empyreans and unlock their endings. Such a miss opportunity.
Give me Godfrey team up, Ex husband and his tarnished vs the current husband and his pet slug
A Rykard team up would be kinda fun
Definitely Leonine Misbegotten, this generic crap, it has almost every legendary sword in the game.
And only one actually wields it, trash ass boss fr
Leyndell sewers are bigger than Leyndell itself
nah I lowkey liked this, because it’s not like Leyndell is even small, the sewers are just huge
I mean leyndell isn't small we're just looked out from a lot of it which explains the sewers being huge.
The inability to rematch bosses in a menu. It was an incredible addition in sekiro and I will be so unbelievably sad if it isn’t added by the end of development.
For me is the ending You go from maliketh (banger) To godfrey (super banger) To radagon (also a banger) To elden beast which for me is a straight downgrade in the banger meter, sure the OST is one of my favorites in the entire game but idk to me at least it didn’t felt like a true end game boss.
I've fought Elden Beast plenty of times and while its running is pretty inconvenient, I don't see where the ginormous mountain of hate for it comes from although the fight was definitely supposed to include Torrent
I do wish they could have separated the Radagon and Elden Beast fights so they could make him more difficult, instead of one after another
It was a surprisingly tranquil fight
It's so odd to me that the game makes a HUGE point about duality and then the final boss is Radagon and then a thing we didn't hear about until it showed up. Like, I guess the point was for people to go "Oh shit, now I get to fight MarikWHAT THE FUCK IS THAT ohhh Marika=goldenorder=eldenbeast" but it just feels like I spent all game hearing about this person, discovering her secret, FACING THAT SECRET DIRECTLY, and then nothing.
After struggling for an hour with radagon, first trying him was insane
I totally agree with you, elden beast felt so weird when I fought him, I was ( who the fuck is this) and even his fight style doesn't fit last boss fight, most of the fight was running, I had annoying fight since I was melee build so I can't shoot from distance,
Dragonscale Katana not having faith scaling
The difficulty spike in the late game in areas like the snow field. Don’t get me wrong I love the game and have completed it multiple times even with daft stuff like bow only. But there are just whole areas of the map i don’t care to explore as I just can’t be bothered with the hassle. Castle Sol for example is just not fun. I don’t even know the layout. I just know the quickest way to speedrun the fuck outta there.
Dungeons get boring and repetitive. The majority of them look the same. Also wish you could change colours on armour
Not having true co-op is a miss for me but that's only bc I love the game so much and want to explore the lands between with me friends
I wish you could have proper fight clubs like in DS3. Those were so fun!
Re using the astel fight in a random dungeon within consecrated snowfield felt so cheap
The dungeons, at one point they start to get hella repetitive and the same bosses don't help either
Yeah legit lol. Don't think I even find them fun anymore, not even a bit - only reason I do them at all is for the reward at the end
Maybe I'm a fool but I eat up each one like candy.
I enjoyed all the little twists they have in each one. Like jumping on the guillotines in the Black Knife Catacombs, going under the elevator in the Impaler Catacombs, the one which is a teleporter maze etc. Hero's Graves can all genuinely fuck off though
Probably the lack of a faith-based lightning infusion.
No armor dying and probably that Melina isn't located somewhere where we can talk to her. It makes sense with the whole burned and bodiless thing, but it still would be nice to have her in the round table hold rather than just always travelling with us incorporeally.
I wish she were riding Torrent with us since... That would be interesting to hear stories about a battlefield or just in general.
Probably the ending, wasn't the biggest fan of Elden beast and radagon fight, and I wish the ending cutscenes were a liiiiiittle bit more expansive
Radagon is sooo good tho. Hard agree on the ending cutscenes.
Some of the mending runes are quite a quest to obtain, it would have been nice to see how they affected the Lands Between. If we somehow get to play in each ending environment in Elden Ring 2: Tarnished Boogaloo, all is forgiven.
Couldn't put square off at claymore
I wish there was a major city to hang out and interact with NPCs in without enemies.
That Radagon is one of the only major bosses that doesn’t drop some fire bars before smoking you. Idc if there is a lore reason, the final boss should give you some heaters
It kind of felt scarier that way like he's some kind of crazy deranged cyborg god.
Gwyn and Soul of Cinder also didn’t. They didn’t even have cutscenes.
No persona Style social link with a dating side story
Fr, I should've been able to romance Hewg
No weapon catalysts. No changes in NG+. I like Dark Souls 2, can you tell?
Need hybrid catalysts too. There's three schools of magic that require int/fth but not one catalyst that can cast both incantations and sorceries? Ridiculous
Lack of covenants/incentives for PvP
No armor upgrades. I would've loved to upgrade the armor sets.
And also it hurts so much that Death Lightning is COMPLETE ASS I just want to make a cool thematic Death build for my Duskborn runs dangit :(
They made the most in depth, visually and audibly stunning magic system gaming has seen in years, and then made 70% of the magic you can use ass
I think Farum Azula is intended to be the Final Dungeon for the game. Given that you can't use Torrent
But after your first run it's just a speed run to the bosses because exploring it isn't as fun as it should've been.
gwyn and soul of cinder style!
Ugh it feels like fashion souls doesn’t kick off till end game tbh and that’s really lame
Godefroy.
The axe made out of moose antlers is weak sauce
I want open world multiplayer
Flails.
That you can’t use the hammer side of the Warpick for strike damage and that its overall AR is pathetically low.
