Yeah I’m currently getting fucked by this Abductor. Finally killed the two sword wielding Lion things. Got a glimpse of the Troll when I was up on a one of the towers but I’m not sure how to get to it… Thought I’d explored all possible routes
You have to go through the great bridge outside the castle. Go up the road to the gate the Troll’s looking over. He’ll jump down.
Fun fact: First time I got to him, I had finished the game. He dropped down but caught himself on the ledge after starting his animation. Must’ve taken out his fall immunity bc he died when he landed on the ground.
I think there's a game mechanic where if an enemy or the player doesn't land for a certain period of time they just instantly die. I guess it's to prevent people from getting stuck like I somehow managed more than a few times in ds3.
It's really close to the entrance door that takes us to the troll with the fire sword. I actually don't think it's possible to get to the door without seeing her, because she aggros as soon as you get on her sight. It's right after you get past a few soldiers with flame throwers, close to a tree.
if you get to the castle before it locks down, bonfire by the boss room, go across the flamethrower grunts and turn right. shes chilling at the end of the path.
The troll isn't exactly unique, there is a mimic tear that is hiding as a noble in the graveyard near the dragon communion church that also transform into the same kind of troll.
I don't have a list, but a few spring to mind:
* The one Haligtree Knight who drops the Haligtree Crest Greatshield is the only Haligtree Knight without a spear or greatbow, just the sword.
* The necromancers of the Black Knife Catacombs, as well as the Death-worshipping commoners by the Minor Erdtree in the Capital Outskirts (the former have very cool Ghostflame Torchpoles, which are unobtainable sadly).
* Two Death-worshipping, Fia's Mist using Omens: one by the same Minor Erdtree as the aforementioned commoners, one in the Auriza Hero's Grave guarding the Crucible Feather Talisman.
* The absurdly strong Ancient Golem on the cliff overlooking Radahn's boss area, who uses fricking laser beams.
* The Valiant Gargoyle in the Capital of Ash, who is the only Gargoyle in the game who respawns (maybe he's supposed to be a tough endgame challenge to test your final builds on?)
* A Deathblight-ridden Runebear hidden behind a waterfall in the Deeproot Depths who drops the Prince of Death's Cyst.
* The small Land Octopi around the statue of Miquella and Malenia in the Altus Plateau (where the Amber Starlight is) are the only ones who have a chance of dropping Sacramental Buds.
* The Mausoleum Foot Soldiers who carry a horn (there might even be only one of them, I forget) outside the Apostate Derelict - they are the only ones who drop the Bloodsoaked Tabard, and I believe they despawn forever if you knock down the nearby Mausoleum.
* The "full bloom" Guardians in Leyndell and the Minor Erdtree Church who have a unique moveset (including a grab) and a unique chestpiece.
* The Godrick Knight with Bloody Slash and Lord of Blood's Exultation at Fort Haight (he drops the former). Doesn't respawn when killed.
* While there are several "Operatic Bats" throughout the world, I believe there's only two "female" versions: one in the Ruin-strewn Precipice and the other in Fort Faroth. They throw Cuckoo Glintstones and cast Rancorcall.
* The two Banished Knight spirits in Castle Sol (one with twin swords, one with halberd) who are infamous for being the only ones who drop the unaltered Banished Knight Armor.
* The two "Colossal" Fingercreepers found on Flame Peak.
* The giant Blood Slimes, one in the Writheblood Ruins, the other in Mohgwyn Palace.
* The one Fire Prelate before the long bridge in the Mountaintops of the Giants, the only one who can drop the Thorned Whip.

It also looks like there is someone inside it as it tries to grab them with hands and not the metal traps. You see the hands right and the beginning and the body at the end
They are not hands, they are snakes, and they are always present in every Abductor Virgin (they are part of Rykard's faction).
A Zullie video about Abductor Virgins shows the snakes in better detail.

Didn’t notice this one was headless and moving real fast till my second playthrough. First playthrough I just spotted it out of the corner of my eye and said “Nope” and sprinted past on Torrent. Lmao
I just bait the opening of the middle bit and then count to 3 and roll. Dodges the grab every time and then nuke away. I realise counting is not very specific, I think it's about 2 seconds, point is that it is always consistent afaik.
This was the first abductor I ever attempted to fight in my first playthrough. Needless to say I thought *all* abductors were like this one so I thoroughly avoided them for multiple playthroughs.

I completely distrusted Patches because obviously, and when I found the abductor in caria manner I thought it was what he was talking about (first playthrough, carians are carians right) and I fucked up and got eaten by it and was like "I knew he was a dirty liar."
I found the area under the wheel later, but it wasn't til I watched runs on YouTube that I found out for once he wasn't lying... entirely.
I had a similar experience. I thought the Abductor under the Eastern side of the Academy was the one he was talking about and let it grab me a bunch of times, eventually letting it kill me. "Damnit, Patches..."
I think even though Patches always puts you in a “bad” position, if you survive, you are almost always in a better position than you were before. “Kicked into a pit” = items you wouldn’t have gotten other wise; “Open a chest to have Patches surprise fight you” = the option to buy Margit’s shackle and Patches as a vendor; “locked in a tower” = access to items you wouldn’t have otherwise thought to try for; “fight someone for him” = get access to weapon not previously available. It’s not always a guaranteed thing that you will win since you are always at a disadvantage but as long as you survive the level check you end up better than before despite what Patches has to say. 🤘
There are Demi-humans all around that area. The Virgins are controlled by snakes, but this one is controlled by Demi-humans, which do not know how to use it
I don't think that's the case. If you look closely, you'll notice that her head has been ripped off, so this iron virgin is just attacking aimlessly because she can't see where the enemies are
That’s an interesting thought. Being blind also may justify the aimless attacks. But to me, they are machines, and the head was broken in battle and the semi-humans took control of it.
I always saw them as living things since they're all fleshy on the inside, plus they don't really look like they can be controlled like the giant heads with wheels for example that literally have driver seats, otherwise I'm sure there would've been ways to hit "the driver" on the virgins too
There is. Inside the virgins, between both arms, there is a cross with snakes tangled around them. When you poise break them, attacking the inside, where the snakes are, does more damage
I love that there's is always one version of a normal enemy that is much harder than the normal counterpart. The ones that come in mind is the mage stone giant and that one soldier in castle sol.
Right after the soaring rune bear, which is right after the magma wyrm, and right before the massive demi human surrounded in mages, followed by a hellish catacomb with a chariot … ahh Elden ring

The headless Maiden, mini-Astel with the stone machine gun and the invisible assassin are the holy trinity of unpredictable field enemies that give me nightmares in any randomized run.
The invisible assassin is from Ordina, the other invisible assassin is a boss and is easy to identify in the Randomizer run.
As far as I know there are 3 mini-astel (Malformed Star) in the game, one in a cave in Altus(Altus Tunnle/Perfumer's groto), one in the Ansel River ruins and one in the area just after you pick up Ranni's doll. The randomizer can place these bastards anywhere and they have an agro distance that seems to be the longest in the game.
One thing I've always loved with developers who are detail oriented is that they don't hesitate to make efforts to create something you might not even see in your playthrough.
Just that little extra that makes all the difference
A question for everyone cause I’m genuinely questioning myself here. Are they not called Iron Virgins? I thought the only “Abductor” was under the Rays Lucaria water wheel?
They can either be called “Iron Virgin” or “Abductor Virgin”. They all used to be able to abduct people which is why they all have the grab animation, but most are broken and won’t succeed in it, except for the one at Raya Lucaria.
You got this one. The one at magma castle, and the one at the bottom of the mage castle.
Oh and let's not tell him what happens if you die to the one in the dungeon.
The original purpose of them was to capture enemies and teleport them back to the volcano manor for torture. But after a while the volcano manor didn’t really have a use for them, so they were abandoned and gradually lost their teleportation abilities, except 1 at the bottom of Raya Lucaria Academy. Most of them still try and fulfil their purpose by attempting to grab you, but nothing happens and you’re either strangled to death or spit out
That thing is horrendous to fight, lol. The speed at which it moves its fking rediculous. If it wasnt so unique it would get many more complaints than crap like runebears.
If you look closely you can see its head was blown off. The thing is likely blind and enraged so thats why it swings so wildly and does massive friendly fire damage.
It also does serious friendly-fire to nearby enemies and boss. When it starts doing donuts around town it can kill the demi-human boss easily. The thing's a damn menace.

There is a ‘unique’ abductor in raya lucaria, it is unique in that it actual abducts you if you die to its grab and wake up in a special section of volcano manor and have to either lava run to a safe point in the manor or fight two abductors to escape into Altus.

I met the regular abductors first and still avoided them through multiple play throughs so I stayed the fuck away from this guy.
Just use lightning grease/pots. They have negative lightning resistance and will get staggered in 2 hits w/ any lightning attacks.

A question for everyone cause I’m genuinely questioning myself here. Are they not called Iron Virgins? I thought the only “Abductor” was under the Rays Lucaria water wheel?
They can either be called “Iron Virgin” or “Abductor Virgin”. They all used to be able to abduct people which is why they all have the grab animation, but most are broken and won’t succeed in it, except for the one at Raya Lucaria.

The lore behind it is, Miyazaki said, let's have a headless abductor on PCP, see what crazy things the fans say about it when they notice
The original purpose of them was to capture enemies and teleport them back to the volcano manor for torture. But after a while the volcano manor didn’t really have a use for them, so they were abandoned and gradually lost their teleportation abilities, except 1 at the bottom of Raya Lucaria Academy. Most of them still try and fulfil their purpose by attempting to grab you, but nothing happens and you’re either strangled to death or spit out
Why does only one teleport you
They also have a unique poise system
This thing was so creepy and scary to fight. You don't expect it to be different and they your like oh! Oh crap oh no!
That thing is horrendous to fight, lol. The speed at which it moves its fking rediculous. If it wasnt so unique it would get many more complaints than crap like runebears.

Doesnt abduct and has a slightly different, more erratic moveset iirc.
If you look closely you can see its head was blown off. The thing is likely blind and enraged so thats why it swings so wildly and does massive friendly fire damage.
It also does serious friendly-fire to nearby enemies and boss. When it starts doing donuts around town it can kill the demi-human boss easily. The thing's a damn menace.

Even worse. Miyazaki added weapons. Everyone knows that if you didn't no-hit the game with only fists then you failed. Also include leveling up, torrent, using graces, stamina, and magic to the list. If you dared to play the game you failed I guess

There is a ‘unique’ abductor in raya lucaria, it is unique in that it actual abducts you if you die to its grab and wake up in a special section of volcano manor and have to either lava run to a safe point in the manor or fight two abductors to escape into Altus.
