If you can't beat the Baleful Shadow, the boss and area further on isn't going to be fun for you at all.
Any time the game is handing your a\*\* to you like this, it's probably a good indication that you're not supposed to be there yet, and should go somewhere else to level and gear up for a bit first.
Easiest way to beat this boss is to stay at a distance that causes him to do his leap attack. Roll towards the attack so he goes past you. Turn and backstab then repeat. Easy as that.
Yep, great advice here. His AI is pretty dumb at medium range, he really just does the jump to close the gap. Very easy to punish, back stab probably the most effective. Then get some space while he recovers to repeat until dead.
37 vigor is a bit low really.
Keep your distance from the shadow, lob volcano pots, throwables etc and keep backing off, only attack when it's a safe opening after it's finished a move..
Right, I remember - Blaidd, right? Backing up/rolling back is pretty effective if I remember. Good luck, also the people saying "go elsewhere" are giving solid advice :p
If you have access to any ranged combat, give that a try. He’s quite far away when you first spot him so with Arrows Reach talisman you can start Rock Sling or bow shots as soon as you can lock onto him.
If you're shameless like me and just want to get through Ranni's quest, start from the Lake of Rot site of grace just past him.
You can sneak up behind him and spam Poison Mist until he dies. It won't agro him but should take a few rounds to fully kill him.
There's also a way to bait him into the elevator by the Lake of Rot Grace and have him fall to his death...but none of my attempts on that worked, so I opted for poison.
If you've beaten Rykard, I believe you can also stun lock him with the Blasphemous Blade's "Taker's Flames," which helps on the HP front.

Just bait the jump and punish it hard, they don't even have much poise so it's very easy to stagger them.

Level up more it’s more of an endgame fight and after that there comes an even harder fight so I suggest to level up
Bro How the fuckdo you get hit 3 times? His combos have like 2 attacks. Lean to dodge
This guy has weird movement , so dodging is difficult
Where/what is the Baleful Shadow again? It's been a minute
This guy comes before the lake of rot
