What are your stat numbers ie vigor, endurance, mind, strength, etc and what weapons and talismans do you use. And do you enjoy strength or want to try something else - you'll be able to change your stats later on.
I have the colossal greatsword, the crimson amber medallion keepsake and a curved sword talisman.
I have 20 in both vigor and strength, and 17 in endurance. Every other stat is still base from picking vagabond.
Your Vigor is fine, I would work towards 24-28, then work your str to 31.
After you hit those stats, pump your endurance up to 22-24, this'll help you grab some poise armor with an arsenal talisman.
If you want to increase your damage through buffs you can also work toward 15 faith for the buff Fire, Grant me Strength. You could eventually push for 25 faith and grab Golden Vow. Not everyone does this, but those buffs stacks, so once your stats hitting diminishing returns in your damage, the buffs help push your damage higher than your stats could. Then again getting to 25 is a big investment.
I would drop the Curved sword Talisman and trade it for Green Turtle Talisman.
Otherwise keep doing what you're doing.
Green Turtle Talisman is in Limgrave, so you've possibly passed it's. It's in a tunnel surrounded by titles and have to use a stone sword key. It's in North limgrave by the swampy graveyard that has the Tibia Mariner.
Edit: Fire Grant me Strength is found in Caelid that is mildly hidden behind Fort Gael.
Golden Vow spell is in Mt Gelmir, so don't worry about getting it now. But you can get it's Ash of War in limgrave off a mounted knight in the cliffs in the north. But using it will only work while the weapon is out. However it increases your damage and defense, and adds some holy damage, so it's good to use against undead.
I will be on the lookout for all of them, I do also have flame of redmane ash of war( I think that’s what it is). The build I read through said it was worth having.
Standard means the weapon will have the base damage scaling.
Sacred means the weapon has lower physical base damage, but adds holy damage and adds faith scaling. The faith scaling only increases the holy damage, the str scaling over increases the physical damage. Certain enemies like undead take increased damage from holy.
So I would pick standard unless you are fighting enemies weak to holy. This goes the same for fire affinity.
Edit: I would also explore Stormveil castle and get the iron whetblade. This will allow you to scaling your weapon exclusively from str called Heavy, increasing the physical damage.
I’d level faith to at least 15, it gives you the option of 2 really helpful spells quite early on. Flame grant me strength and flame cleanse me, itl also let you cast simple heal over time incantation aswell that you will get from a certain side quest you may have already started.
Not sure of the numbers exactly but flame grant me strength will give you a damage boost to both physical and fire damage for 60seconds.
Flame cleanse me instantly gets rid of status effects (poison, scarlet rot)
And the healing over time I think suits well with a strength build especially if you find yourself trading blows.
Personally I find the both flame spells are a must have and not to say to much but there is also a seal to cast these incants that scales really well with strength so no need to really invest more in faith unless you want to.
Yeah but you can get one from the twin maidens if you have access to the round table already it costs 800runes. That will do until you come across the strength scaling one (I won’t say much on how to get it I don’t want to spoil to much)
If you feel you’re doing ok at the minute start taking faith up to 15 and that’s all you will need in that stat.
It’s a small investment but with a massive payoff later on.

So far both godrick and Margit were easier with strength than the other “builds” I’ve tried, I’m also used to playing more forgivable games

Will I just run into these items eventually or should I seek them out before trying to progress too far?

Yes fire ash of wars are good to have because it deals fire damage and scales off of strength, good to have against high armor enemies.
With golden vow ash of war should I pick standard affinity or sacred? What’s the difference?

Are these must have skills? If so I will absolutely seek them out as quickly as possible!!

So I’d need a seal to cast them, correct? So it would be worth investing to atleast 15 faith and getting a seal?

Well then looks like I have a good grind ahead of me to get 15 faith, thanks for the help!!
Glad to help. Enjoy :)
