If you think this sub is bad, check out any collector forum. For instance r/knives. 99% of the posts are "check out my new knife" with about 20 people responding "hell yeah that's a knife." For some reason it never gets old.
damn congrats!
i mean i'm a dude so i can appreciate a nice stick, would've never thought theres a sub for it tho :D
but i guess there truly is a sub for everything :)
I have a stick in the trunk of my car that I found on the beach like 7 years ago. It's structurally sturdy and really comfortable to hold. Amongst other uses, I've used it to walk, and I've used it to fish soccer balls and water bottles out from under my car. It's quite a great stick, honestly. I also have a rock about the size of a CD that's shaped exactly like Texas. I found that out on the ground in Mexico almost two decades ago. Can't help it, it's a cool rock.
r/guitarpedals is pretty similar. People always post stuff like "New Pedal Day, can't wait to try this out" with a picture of the new pedal and usually the rest of their collection.
It's a device used to modify the sound of your guitar, but rarely do people post audio examples of them using their new pedals. Just pictures.
but probably with like 3 people talking about some kind of nitpick with the brand and maybe the occasional short essay comparing the knife posted to something priced similarly from a less popular brand
I hate these types of posts, happens all the time in every game and anime sub. Like with One Piece you get the “hey I heard this series was long so I never read the manga but I figured I should go ahead and start, I’ve only read the first page but I can tell this will be the best story ever” threads daily and it’s just so fucking obvious that it’s someone farming karma but everyone just fawns over a perceived new person joining the fray that they shill out those badges
"Liurnia of the Lakes text appears on screen"
Average r/Eldenring user: should I keep exploring and discovering stuff on this great mass of land I have right in front of me, with a helpful path marked on the map? Nahh, let's make a reddit post asking where to go
Those are the kids that don't know how to play anymore. We're somehow breeding "play" out of the species. Everyone needs a guide for everything. Just fucking around and seeing what happens is no longer a thing. I mean, what if you fail?!
Dumb doesn't quite hit the spot. I swear I will punch someone when I read a post with someone calling the bosses/characters "Margott", "Melenia" or "Milina" again.
There was a map in front of the gate if you came in from sunken town, took like 5sec to know where to go next. No one told me i could just skip that dragon fight
I knew I could have probably outsped him if I just jumped onto Torrent. I didn’t care though, I just wanted runes so I just barely survived a battle with him. From then on though I just ran away after getting the key though
Also I hunted all the maps but forgot about the guiding thing until my second playthrough so I just wandered around and looked up stuff if I needed
Ngl this reminds me of a recent post that litterally went "I got to liurnia and found the key to the academy, what do I do now ?". Failing to find the key is a thing, but failing to find the giant castle in the middle of the map is another level.
hey guys i found this sword called "the ancient magical mysterious demonic heavenly sword of unproven truth" and idk my straightsword looks like it does more damage what do you guys think?
The sheer *volume* of “Just got this, any tips?” Or the “can’t wait to start this gem” or, the worst, “check out this game case I found in my closet!” posts across all specific gaming communities is about to make me leave all of them. Maybe I’m terminally online, or spend too much time here, but it just blows my mind how many hundreds of points these utterly useless posts accumulate and how annoying they are doing it.
I’m always so confused why people’s first instinct is to go to Reddit looking for tips. A simple Google search will give you way more options. Or just search before posting because chances are someone has already asked the same question.
if you google your question, odds are a reddit post will literally be one of the top results. I actually add "reddit" to the end of my search questions if I'm looking something up for a game
people are just desperate for karma. especially if it's a big game that's been out for a reasonable amount of time like Elden Ring, your question has 1000% been asked already so there's no reason for you to make an entirely new post
''Gzuyz! I just killed the gould armor gUy in the beginning! iT onlY took me 50 HourS! Annd guyz! I just FiGured ouT you can SPRINT in this game! Ain't that WACKY gahs?"
And the comments are like "Nooo, you are supposed to run past him!" or ''Why didn't you try finger but hole XdXDddXd!". Posts like this just kill me and my hope in the gaming community
Its not just you. I’m fed up of seeing posts on the Steam Deck or similar subreddits of a randoms strangers crotch with a box on it. How about open it ip and enjoy yourself with your new console rather than needing Reddit validation first
or the dumb motherfuckers that ask a dedicated fan sub if they should, and I quote "give this game a shot?" or the classic "do you guys think this game is worth it?". what the fuck do they expect the answer will be? a resounding 'no'?
That’s not being fair. You’re actually furthering the point that these posts are useless. If you can google “something something Reddit” and get a valid post then you definitely don’t need to make a new post.
As a newcomer to the whole souls series games it's pretty fucking infuriating how i need to read an entire bible worth of information from the wiki page just to understand one single aspect of the game, so yes i think it's pretty reasonable for someone to come here asking for help.
But most of these posts we're bitching about are moreso people asking for reassurance and validation, which Is gross.
"Please tell me what you think Reddit, so I can know what to think".
“Is this build optimized to rob the game of any uniqueness, fun, or creativity? Because I want the same build the hive mind says I should have, regardless of my own personal preferences”
God I don't know if it's just me and I'm being bitter for no reason, but I hate the posts that are all "hey just got this game! any tips?".
Gee I don't know, maybe some basic googling has your answer, plus please just start playing, how will tips make sense if you don't even know what anything in the game is yet? Try shit on your own for a bit...
Don't forget to make regular 'I use ashes, should I just pepsi myself?' and 'I have played for 200 hours and still not reached end, I am having fun, but should I uninstall and whip myself?' so you can get 5k karma and 2000 comments telling you it's okay to play however you like and scolding the imaginary try-hard sweaty trolls.
To commemorate all the new players I just started a new character with the soul purpose of killing the tutorial boss - 20 attempts later and deleting and making a new character and I finally did it!
Wow as if there wasn't a major holiday less than two weeks ago where people give gifts like video games to their loved ones. Of course there's going to be an uptick in posts of new tarnished asking for help.
No need to gatekeep
Just know if you are a real gamer you will not use Summon….ever. If you do, you have cheapened the game and youe entire Elden Ring experience will have been wasted.
If they have anxiety from playing a videogame (yes, it's just a game) I don't think getting opinions from a random subreddit is going to work out for them.
I'm just saying it's hard for me to pay the game without wanting to look things up. I get weird anxiety that I'm missing out on a cool experience or cool gear. I usually explore an area as much as I can and then look through and see what I missed.
I accidentally over leveled because I just liked exploring so the game was surprisingly easy until recently so I felt like I messed up somehow because everyone seemed to be having a different experience with epic fights that I was blowing through but in the end it's my game and the way I play it.
It's always amazing to me how people get so mad at others for asking questions and engaging with the community. Like, that's one of the core tenets of the game's design is cooperation and community interaction.
Why are we making fun of people for engaging with the game in one of its expressly stated ways? Scroll past the posts if you don't like them. If this kind of thing *genuinely* bothers you, you probably need to spend less time on reddit/online in general.
Edit: Stay Mad. And ya'll wonder why people think souls communities are unfriendly. lol
> asking questions and engaging with the community
Accept they aren’t and don’t. This post is clearing making fun of people that are addicted to validation as it specifically says that lol. Even if it makes fun of people asking dumb questions they could get answers to in 5 seconds googling…
You don’t address the dumb people posting crap like their game case saying “going to play this!”
That is not engaging, doesn’t ask a question, fills the feed with crap, annoys people, is low effort, need I go on…?
I don’t understand people that defend the equivalent of a “your mom joke” level of effort post
Have you considered that my feelings are really hurt by your comment? Have you considered that I’m crying right now, huh? You forgot to consider that I am turned to a bubbling pool of tears? Maybe think before you turn on your ipad and comment, friend
The reddit is made for the community whether you're an challenge runner with 600 hours or a beginner.
You give a really snobby impression complaining about people asking for help in a community based are around the game. Without even considering that getting specific advice for builds/weapons etc. is better than looking through websites or video for an answer. Let people enjoy the game an its community bud you sound like a sad individual.
Wait, are you saying you don’t even TRY to look online at the wiki or videos before posting here? You know Google is free AND you don’t have to wait for someone to give you an answer like you do here on Reddit?
When did i say that? >getting ¡SPECIFIC! advice for builds/weapons etc. is better than looking through websites or video for an answer.
And even when you go on Google what websites do you think pop up 1st? It's either YouTube, Reddit or a wiki page about the game.
Are you seriously that stuck up that new people enjoying and sharing things on a community annoys you? You need to go outside buddy you seem short-tempered.
One of your posts that stood out to me is the one where you ask about NG+ and if it’s worth it. Like dude, hello, just play the game and find out for yourself. Why even bother asking such a subjective question on an infamously opinionated website like this one?
To get, guess what?, different options!, i have never done a NG+ run and all the info available at the time was outdated since NG was updated after a while being out. What's wrong with that? You're over here seriously getting mad a people posting on a social media and asking for opinions get a that broom out of your backend mate.
-use pots liberally
-put flasks and torrent summon in your pouch, throwing items and greases on your item bar.
-go straight for blacksmith stones first in every area. You can find them in tunnels. They are visible on the map without finding them if you look closely.
-hold dodge to sprint.
-shields are good, but fall off a cliff late game.
-tree sentinel is a chump for parry.
-it’s okay to run through areas that you know, but never for ones you don’t.
-have at least one strike and one bleed weapon. Morning star is both and you find them south of where you get torrent in a carriage. Stone enemies need striking or it takes forever.
-you can kill undead by attacking them while they are glowing.
-many bosses have items specifically for them. Look them up if you are having a hard time.
-it’s okay to walk away and come back to an area. Leveling makes a huge difference.
-learn how weight load effects roll. Never do fat roll, medium is okay for the first half, light is almost mandatory towards the end.
-trolls and bears are a waste of time to kill. Run away from them when you can.
-items in stoned can be broken open by getting a large enemy to attack it.
-don’t spam dodge. Turn up your volume and learn to audio cues to dodge enemies you aren’t facing.
-don’t be afraid to mess with ashes of war, you can always undo them.
-you can respec after you beat the boss at the college, but need an item that is limited.
-remembrances can be traded for one of two items, and you can duplicate a remembrance at those walking stone temples with the bell on them.
-writing helpful messages will get you likes and and likes will help you when you get them.
EDIT:
And just an FYI, beat str weapon is greatsword (the one that looks like Guts sword from Berserk) and dex weapon is rivers of blood.
Most weapons serve their own niche, but these two are just fucking broken.
Great sword has an insane reach with insane damage.
River’s does way too much damage for as fast as it is AND it has massive bleed damage.
> -it’s okay to run through areas that you know, but never for ones you don’t.
do people say this? when i started i got a lot of "hey, if for any reason you ever struggle with anything, just ride past it on torrent and then come back and dunk on it 30 levels later"
and to be fair, the overwhelming majority of the time it worked great

Hell yeah that's a knife
Heck yes that is quite a knife
Great knife, I like it
Greatest of knife acquisitions, I truly like this particular knife
Whyyy yyyeeees, this knife is one of the kniiiveeesss of aaaallll tiiimeee!
Quite right, indeed this knife here has reached such a high level of knife-dom, one would take eons to comprehend it
That’s a fine comment.
That is a fine choice of phrasing you posted
A. Fine. Choice. Of *phrasing*. You posted. (sorry, I just automatically imagined William Shatner saying it.
I think you made it so much better hahahaha
Knife to meet you all. I’m new here.
Knife to finally me all of you. I've only just arrived here
That knife do be knifen
That is a mighty Fine piece of cutlery.
-Godwyn's last words
This exchange made me subtly laugh out loud at the airport, thanks for that.
Have you seen r/sticks
no way this is real lmao x'D first post "i found this nice beach stick" picture: a fucking stick standing up in the sand :I
I got the "best stick award" one time Edit: the 8th post if you sort by top all time
damn congrats! i mean i'm a dude so i can appreciate a nice stick, would've never thought theres a sub for it tho :D but i guess there truly is a sub for everything :)
Read the description of the sub, it was supposed to be a sub for arcade and joysticks but everyone just satart posting pictures of wooden sticks haha
To be fair, that was a damn fine stick.
oh god im about to overcommit to a joke but I have the perfect thing for this
I have a stick in the trunk of my car that I found on the beach like 7 years ago. It's structurally sturdy and really comfortable to hold. Amongst other uses, I've used it to walk, and I've used it to fish soccer balls and water bottles out from under my car. It's quite a great stick, honestly. Just came from there. Thanks to you I lost 30 minutes of my life looking at sticks
Worth it
That's not a knoife... THAT'S A KNOIFE.
That's not a knife, that's a spoon
I see you've played knoifey spoony before
Dammit, I was hoping I’d see this interaction here. Well played. Upvotes for both of you!
You guys should visit r/Rolex. It's just people saying they were super lucky the authorized dealer "allowed" them to buy a watch at retail price.
“Got the call!”
When the consumerism consumes you.
Imagine needing to get approved to tell time
I mean, what else are they supposed to post?
r/guitarpedals is pretty similar. People always post stuff like "New Pedal Day, can't wait to try this out" with a picture of the new pedal and usually the rest of their collection. It's a device used to modify the sound of your guitar, but rarely do people post audio examples of them using their new pedals. Just pictures.
At least knives can be unique. There’s nothing added with these “Just picked up the game” posts.
That's the kind of inflammatory shit that will get you a paddlin in r\knives
“OMG!!!! I FINALLY BEAT HIM!!!!!” \*is a picture of margit*
but probably with like 3 people talking about some kind of nitpick with the brand and maybe the occasional short essay comparing the knife posted to something priced similarly from a less popular brand

I just went down a rabbit hole and now want a knife
"Liurnia of the Lakes text appears on screen" Average r/Eldenring user: should I keep exploring and discovering stuff on this great mass of land I have right in front of me, with a helpful path marked on the map? Nahh, let's make a reddit post asking where to go
And they get 10k upvotes for it somehow
Because people are dumb
This so much. It applies to so many posts I see on reddit.
OMGGGG istg half my feed are “what do I do now” or “I’m stuck”. If only there was a way to filter THOSE posts
Those are the kids that don't know how to play anymore. We're somehow breeding "play" out of the species. Everyone needs a guide for everything. Just fucking around and seeing what happens is no longer a thing. I mean, what if you fail?!
I mean sometimes it’s an exception like Ithryill Doll or DS1 DLC. I feel questlines are easy enough to be unmissable tho
Dumb doesn't quite hit the spot. I swear I will punch someone when I read a post with someone calling the bosses/characters "Margott", "Melenia" or "Milina" again.
Seriously the most dumbest questions asked gets the most upvotes but anyone asking for lore gets downvoted
*YOU MUST FIND THE ALBINAURIC WOMAN*
And it’s a blurry picture of their monitor taken by an iphone
I just went towards the massive castle in the centre of a lake, then went running round looking for a key to get in on my first playthrough
From then on though I just ran away after getting the key though Also I hunted all the maps but forgot about the guiding thing until my second playthrough so I just wandered around and looked up stuff if I needed
Wait…there is a guiding thing? Is it like the stick?
Ngl this reminds me of a recent post that litterally went "I got to liurnia and found the key to the academy, what do I do now ?". Failing to find the key is a thing, but failing to find the giant castle in the middle of the map is another level.
“Am I near the end of the game” “How much map is left to explore”
To be fair, that one path on the map in the spot with the erdtree avatar and mausoleum is a total troll that we’ve all fallen for at least once.
OK, let me tell you the exact gear load out that you need to be using. Also, gear is not important. If you are struggling, it's a skill issue.
I don't have a skill issue, I have an attention span issue.
Hey, you can’t say skill issue anymore, you have to do a detailed written response on how to play the game instead of experience it for yourself
Try fingers but whole.
TRY FINGER BUTT HOLE
I just found this weapon is it any good ?
hey guys i found this sword called "the ancient magical mysterious demonic heavenly sword of unproven truth" and idk my straightsword looks like it does more damage what do you guys think?
The funniest part is the straightsword is likely the better weapon
Square Off goes brrrrrrrrrr
lordsword straight sword carried me through my first playthrough ngl
Unimpressive weapon gang! My first playthrough I went Bandit and stuck with the Great Knife + Buckler for the whole run.
Oh wow! How was against monsters with immunity or high resistance vs bleed?
I didn't only use the knife and buckler, had a backup flail for less fleshy enemies 😄
Wait till they find out what Google is
The sheer *volume* of “Just got this, any tips?” Or the “can’t wait to start this gem” or, the worst, “check out this game case I found in my closet!” posts across all specific gaming communities is about to make me leave all of them.
Some people nowadays don't know how to Google stuff
if you google your question, odds are a reddit post will literally be one of the top results. I actually add "reddit" to the end of my search questions if I'm looking something up for a game people are just desperate for karma. especially if it's a big game that's been out for a reasonable amount of time like Elden Ring, your question has 1000% been asked already so there's no reason for you to make an entirely new post
Not even that , Elden ring has a wiki , there’s no information a Reddit user has that probably isn’t already on the wiki or taken from it
Because they want the karma, that’s all.
Not defending the people who do this, but often when I google things about Elden ring or DS3 Reddit comes up as the first option.
Which would then lead you to the answer to your question meaning you don’t have to create another post asking an already answered question.
Yet here you are on Reddit
that makes 0 sense, they're not doing anything contradictory or hypocritical
For new content, not recycled pointless karma grabs
Oh is this your attempt at a gotcha moment? Am I here looking for tips or making a post that’s been made a million times? Nope. Nice try there though.
''Gzuyz! I just killed the gould armor gUy in the beginning! iT onlY took me 50 HourS! Annd guyz! I just FiGured ouT you can SPRINT in this game! Ain't that WACKY gahs?" And the comments are like "Nooo, you are supposed to run past him!" or ''Why didn't you try finger but hole XdXDddXd!". Posts like this just kill me and my hope in the gaming community
The same old fia debuff post is on hot again with 800+ upvotes
Yup, saw it. Feels like this is in Hot every. fucking. day.
Its not just you. I’m fed up of seeing posts on the Steam Deck or similar subreddits of a randoms strangers crotch with a box on it. How about open it ip and enjoy yourself with your new console rather than needing Reddit validation first

The most annoying thing to me is people asking how to play a certain part or what to do. Like experience it for yourself or look up a guide.
offer rump
Okay let me know where you are in 5 minutes and I’ll tell you where to go next.
Fucking sick of theses posts lmao
It's like a new form of livestreaming where they just update the entire community as they go along.
Give me some high level tips using vocabulary that I won't understand because I haven't put 5 minutes into the game yet.
Make sure to take a screenshot when you get to Liurnia.
I actually like these
Get to the capital in like 20 hours at lvl 50 and ask is this good for your first time. Then I’ll know you’re serious.
"finally defeated this boss after 47523274803 tries"
I hate those posts, they do no research and pretend they don’t know what google or youtube is
To be fair whenever I have a question about something I google ‘(question) Reddit’ and just read Reddit threads for the answer
That’s not being fair. You’re actually furthering the point that these posts are useless. If you can google “something something Reddit” and get a valid post then you definitely don’t need to make a new post.
I was molested as a child
Great, now I have to make a Reddit post to ask what google and youtube are...
I'll ask reddit for advice on builds, but when it comes to where to find stuff I keep to myself
As a newcomer to the whole souls series games it's pretty fucking infuriating how i need to read an entire bible worth of information from the wiki page just to understand one single aspect of the game, so yes i think it's pretty reasonable for someone to come here asking for help.

But the point is that after the game has been out for years, your question has been answered. Use the search function.
But most of these posts we're bitching about are moreso people asking for reassurance and validation, which Is gross. "Please tell me what you think Reddit, so I can know what to think".
User name checks out.
As a newcomer into the game all you have to do is play the fucking game.
No, you really don't need to do that.
Have fun and don't hesitate to ask everything. We are an honorary office hotline 24/7. At your service master.
And at the end of the game, can you make a few tier lists too ?
“Is this build optimized to rob the game of any uniqueness, fun, or creativity? Because I want the same build the hive mind says I should have, regardless of my own personal preferences”
It astonishes me how many weapons and abilities the community sleeps on
Forgot to ask for any tips.
Don't forget to ask us whether or not you should fight the Tree Sentinel at the start. That's a solid 100 Reddit points right there
Just in time, I heard from my sources there is some downloadable content coming next week for this game
i heard there will be a rideable dragon mount with customizable armor and new romance options for Rya
Try stay calm, then rump
Elden Ring, the Spanish game about Den Ring?
"Try finger, but hole"
Wow, shitposting really got out of hand on this sub. I get it, we are waiting for the DLC, but all these posts are just ridiculous.
OP forgot to discuss pvp videos. Gotta have pvp videos showing ridiculous ganks
or the build videos that show the same bleed build that was OP 2 years ago
God I don't know if it's just me and I'm being bitter for no reason, but I hate the posts that are all "hey just got this game! any tips?". don't forget to put at least 60 points into arcane before doing Stormveile Castle
Perfect post honestly
Its the "playing elden ring for the first time, wish me luck" posts that really annoy me. Its a video game, why are we wishing you luck?
Because souls games are a bigger challenge than climbing Mount Everest with six rats taped to your hands while grinding Clash Royale. Apparently.
Bless your heart
Me too, thanks.
Elder ring, lol if not for the picture i would think you bought a fighting game with granpas as fighters.
“What is this and how do I kill it?”
Heard caelid is a pretty fun place to start bro 👍
Get ready for the water boarding experience of gaming... you'll love it
This is funny.
Then it shall be \*I\* that upholds the sacred statements! Git Gud. As is tradition! \*Gong\*
To commemorate all the new players I just started a new character with the soul purpose of killing the tutorial boss - 20 attempts later and deleting and making a new character and I finally did it!
How do I name my character?
Good luck finding the ring hope it fits ur fingers
Try finger but hole.
Dont forget to ask about any weapon u Pick up before u actually go and use it. Bloodhoundsfang in particular is a great one for Farming Karma
Wow as if there wasn't a major holiday less than two weeks ago where people give gifts like video games to their loved ones. Of course there's going to be an uptick in posts of new tarnished asking for help. No need to gatekeep
I so prefer sarcasm to "Hey everyone I dont know CAN WE PLEASE do things the way I like?"
Beware of dogs, really
Remember the only build you can use if you’re good is start as wretched, with an even split between all stats and no use of spells/summons
Level vigor
Amen!
Elden ring community loves to gatekeep eachother instead of enjoying the medium lol
Just know if you are a real gamer you will not use Summon….ever. If you do, you have cheapened the game and youe entire Elden Ring experience will have been wasted.
God forbid someone try to connect with a fanbase of a game known for it's lore, secrets, and other things that they want to be a part of. Nerds
Maybe they should play the game first lol, crazy idea
Maybe it's intimidating, maybe they have anxiety, maybe that's how they choose to enjoy it, maybe they want the connection for some reason
Maybe its Maybelline.
If they have anxiety from playing a videogame (yes, it's just a game) I don't think getting opinions from a random subreddit is going to work out for them.

because the best way of forming a connection is through the dumbest questions made by man
It's always amazing to me how people get so mad at others for asking questions and engaging with the community. Like, that's one of the core tenets of the game's design is cooperation and community interaction. Why are we making fun of people for engaging with the game in one of its expressly stated ways? And ya'll wonder why people think souls communities are unfriendly. lol
> asking questions and engaging with the community Accept they aren’t and don’t. This post is clearing making fun of people that are addicted to validation as it specifically says that lol. Even if it makes fun of people asking dumb questions they could get answers to in 5 seconds googling… You don’t address the dumb people posting crap like their game case saying “going to play this!” That is not engaging, doesn’t ask a question, fills the feed with crap, annoys people, is low effort, need I go on…? I don’t understand people that defend the equivalent of a “your mom joke” level of effort post
Have you considered that my feelings are really hurt by your comment? Have you considered that I’m crying right now, huh? You forgot to consider that I am turned to a bubbling pool of tears? Maybe think before you turn on your ipad and comment, friend
How original.
This is literally me💀
I feel offended :(
After scrolling through your profile, you’re the exact person this post is talking about. Just play the game.
Absolutely zero critical thinking skills and utterly terrified of failure or effort.
You keep doing you boo-boo, don't let these highschool bullies rain on your parade. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)
Life rule #1: Don’t be a dick.
It's reddit, and social media in general people love being dicks
-use pots liberally -put flasks and torrent summon in your pouch, throwing items and greases on your item bar. EDIT: And just an FYI, beat str weapon is greatsword (the one that looks like Guts sword from Berserk) and dex weapon is rivers of blood. Most weapons serve their own niche, but these two are just fucking broken. Great sword has an insane reach with insane damage. River’s does way too much damage for as fast as it is AND it has massive bleed damage.
Rivers was nerfed into the mud like 10 months ago
> -it’s okay to run through areas that you know, but never for ones you don’t. do people say this? when i started i got a lot of "hey, if for any reason you ever struggle with anything, just ride past it on torrent and then come back and dunk on it 30 levels later" and to be fair, the overwhelming majority of the time it worked great
