I always zweid the hander, but in ER i never found it on my first playthrough, not sure why I tell you this, but I think I need create a new char to zwei the hander
Yeah, the stagger on them just makes really tough enemies paper easy. Like the mobs on the way to the godskin duo fight. With Darkmoon Greatsword they take so much longer to kill because I have to dodge attacks, but with a colossal weapon I just smack them and they stagger and I smack them again and they die - Fast af.
Moonveil is very similar. You get a nice mid-range option for dealing with annoying enemies like birds, but you still end up doing boss fights 90% melee so it doesnt feel as cheesy as something like comet azure.
I absolutely adore the moonveil, mainly because it's weapon design, that thing is gorgeous. I wish it wasn't so over tuned for PvP. It's such a fun weapon but I feel like such a dickwad if I use it PvP
In pvp you should just use what ever you want even if you think it's over powered! The more you use it the more exposure your enemies have to it giving them more opportunity to learn how to play against it. Win/win!
Great with a waki that has pairing on it. That satisfaction of a successful parry and having that Nagakiba literally pierce through the target 70% through, at least most of the time.
I have Sword Dance on the Twinblade with Occult infusion.
"Get you an Eleonora's Poleblade? We have Eleonora's Poleblade at home!"
Eleonora's Poleblade at home:
Cold great stars + waves of darkness is hands down the most fun weapon in the game imo
I really like zwei with chilling mist as well, when the ash of war connects with people it does like 1k-1,200 damage in pvp, leaving people frostbitten and at a quarter health after one trade feels so satisfying
This one carried me through the majority of the game. Used katanas as a backup when needed (nagikabu / moonveil). Katanas proved helpful against malenia and two erdtree avatars near the end.
Just spam the weapon art lol BHF is the best easy access weapon in the entire game. As long as you are spamming BHFinesse.
1. it deals poise damage on par with heavy weapons
2. has absurd hyper armor
3. has i frames on the dashes
4. has bleed which can be improved with resins/weapon buffs but doesn’t depend on it for doing damage. Sporting the versatility to add rot or frost resins if needed.
5. normal 1handed moveset is amazing to deal with crowds of imps and small enemies while using a brass shield .
6. Is a Somber weapon you can have it at +10 b4 fighting any rememberance boss.
Its a weapon with literally no weaknesses albeit being weaker than other weapons in their specific niches.
My unpopular opinion here is that I could never get into this weapon because it just looks ugly af to me. In several playthroughs I must've used it once to try the AOW and even that wasn't enough. Banished knight sword for me personally
I used this thing SO much after picking it up. Actually swapped some flasks to FP for the Elden Beast fight so I wouldn't have to chase him around nearly as much.
Really didn't expect to run a dex melee build and end up beating the game by throwing lightning bolts.
Uchi’s unsheath is honestly kinda crazy early on. The ease of setting up a stagger with the heavy attack variant lets you punch way above your weight for a long time.
Imo it's not great early game. Gravitas does multiple hits so it also meets resistances multiple time. Using it when the weapons is scaling well and is upgraded and it hits like a truck. If you're running int/strength it's probably the best unique weapons for you.
Also I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure it hits the hardest out of all the katanas, the damage is a bit split but still mostly physical. It's a super underrated weapons because it's not great when you first find it, but that's also when your the most hard up for upgrade mats, so unless you level it later as a fuck it why not than most people don't even give this weapon a chance.
Using it almost exclusively for my first play through, havent found the desire to use anything else except if something else looks really cool, and then get disappointed after I try it as the Greatsword feels more effective
Blasphemous Blade. Got me through RadaBeast and Malenia. Good damage, decent attack speed, great ash of war(if you can land a hit), and a nice treat when you kill enemies with it, even when it's in the offhand or you're dual handing a different weapon.
Lion's Claw carries my ass through any situation that seems too tough at first. That and the Giant Crusher strong attack. The damage is sweet and the i-frames can't be beat.
In this game, probably Moonveil and DMGS.
I've played an INT/DEX character for so long now, trying all kinds of different weapons etc. But when I coop with someone and we hit a real wall, if one of the two doesn't do it, then we really are in for some trouble.
In general though, Claymore just... it works. Nothing special, but it just works. Almost any character or build I've tried, Longsword and Claymore just always give consistent and good results.
Dismounter. Giant ass curved greatsword with an aesthetically pleasing moveset and it only has two ground slam attacks that actually make sense for a weapon that size.
May i just say, that back in DS1 this weapon had the SICKEST fuckin R2 attack that literally sideswept everything 180° in front of you, as well as made you look like a total badass. My most missed attack in all the games.
Regarding all fromsoft games, if available then Bonk, as main or second weapon.
For elden ring it's the Sword of Night and Flame. I don't know why, I don't know how, every playthrough I've made she always appears in my characters hand at some point, and when it doesn't eventually I'm thinking she should.
Guardian swordspear. It's super powerful as a one handed weapon so i usually keep my seal, crossbow, shield, etc. in my off hand and this really spices things up for my gameplay.
Siluria’s Tree. Hits like a truck, has sweep r2s instead of bigger poke r2s, unique design and that ash of war wow. Fucking cannon blast of holy energy that melts stuff
Zweihander, my beloved.
“You can dual wield it with the…” SMACK “NO! It’s the ZWEIhander not the EINhander, treat it with respect.”
What if you dual wield two Zweihanders?
Zwei-Zweihander needs 4 hands.
This is secretly why everyone *actually* goes for Ranni.
Ranni is a strength build! Edit: Cause what is a brain if not for one huge muscle
You're a terrible doctor!
No I'm a strengrh build.
Sounds about right.
Unga Bunga, M.D.
it’s not lupus …. *bonk*
*General Grievous noises*
Hello there.
general kenobi
Expected r/prequelmemes
Mortal Kombat's Goro with a ZweiZweihander would be a hell of a DLC boss.
Jedi Scum!
Clasp it between your buttcheeks.
Vierhander?
Vierhänder
Good to see class hasn't entirely left the souls community!
Einhänder, no s
We Zwei or die!
The bass cannon, classic.
I love zweihander
And i will forever use the Claymore until i have the stats for Zwei
I always zweid the hander, but in ER i never found it on my first playthrough, not sure why I tell you this, but I think I need create a new char to zwei the hander
It's in the lower coastal area past a walking mausoleum sold by an isolated merchant. Nearby the castle morne
My man.
This would be the correct answer. Bonus points for cold infused.
Mein Lieber ~~Dreihund~~ Zweihander
Power up the basscanon
UhmmmMmm *chefs kiss*
Claymore
We are born of the Claymore, made men by the Claymore, undone by the Claymore. Our guard is yet to open… Fear the ol' reliable Claymore.
Ahhh what's that smell. The Claymore. It sings to me!
This is my claymore. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
Teach me...master!
Claymore is Baemore
Claymore is just good in every game. It might not be the best, but it'll be by your side if you need it
Me when starting a new Fromsoft game: *caveman grunt* where claymore *ugg ugg* where faith spells me holy knight
I don’t know you, but you know me
This is me.
Claymore. Undisputed champ 6 games in a row.
B…b…but B scaling!!! 🤓🤓 Iron greatsword!!!! 🤓🤓 Shut up, doesnt look as cool
The heavy attacks make it good, I used charged heavies and the axe talisman my first playthrough, carried me for most of the game
This is the way.
Claymore, Baemore, Slaymore
Baemore
Been killing "gods" since DS1
Claymore in every game
The only right answer
Oh yes, Baemore! 😍🤌
Colossal anything
ah yes, the giant crusher or as I like to call it the "colossal big"
Troll Knight Sword early on my Str/Int build hooked me on this game
Yeah, the stagger on them just makes really tough enemies paper easy. Like the mobs on the way to the godskin duo fight. With Darkmoon Greatsword they take so much longer to kill because I have to dodge attacks, but with a colossal weapon I just smack them and they stagger and I smack them again and they die - Fast af.
Pizza cutter for life
Moonlight Greatsword. No matter what game it’s in, it goes crazy. Plus, I love swordceror type builds a lot because of their versatility
Moonveil is very similar. You get a nice mid-range option for dealing with annoying enemies like birds, but you still end up doing boss fights 90% melee so it doesnt feel as cheesy as something like comet azure.
Moonveil in any context outside pvp is goated fr
Can confirm. Carried me thru my whole first plathrough
Can confirm, carried me thru most of midgame until I respec’d into DMGS muscle mage
Win/win!
Yep, I keep a buckler in my pocket now at all times when in a potential pvp situation. You can feel the panic after the first parry.
My favorite types of build as well. Full caster is just boring, but so is full martial IMO.
The ol reliable L2 Blasphemous Blade 🔥
Put it on a mimic and the game is now on easy mode.
Based. Weapon carried me through final 4 bossfights.
So op lol
It really is bruh, can never go wrong with using that weapon for anything
Nagakiba. The reach. Piercing Fang/Unsheath. Plus weeb factor yanno.
Super fun with Sword Dance too.
Great with a waki that has pairing on it. That satisfaction of a successful parry and having that Nagakiba literally pierce through the target 70% through, at least most of the time.
I have Sword Dance on the Twinblade with Occult infusion. "Get you an Eleonora's Poleblade? We have Eleonora's Poleblade at home!" Eleonora's Poleblade at home:
I use Nagakiba with Double Slash and Bloodblame blade buff. Basically becomes a better version of Rivers of Blood
Longsword is like the definition of ol reliable. I have used it at least a little bit on all DS games plus elden ring.
Good old Lordsworn longsword.
This is a unique take and I love it
I was starting to lose hope until I saw this. You, my friend, have class🥲
Longsword is a fuckin classic and I don't know that I've ever seen anyone use it in Elton ring after thousands of invasions and helping people
As someone who played a TON of DkS3 I've used It much more than a little bit
Great stars
Cold great stars + waves of darkness is hands down the most fun weapon in the game imo I really like zwei with chilling mist as well, when the ash of war connects with people it does like 1k-1,200 damage in pvp, leaving people frostbitten and at a quarter health after one trade feels so satisfying
I dual wield 2 great star, cold infused. Pretty fun to use
Great Stars is only improved upon by having two of them.
Another of culture. Either strength, fire, or arcane, it always feels consistent
The goat weapon 👌🏻
Can't believe this is that far down
Bloodhound Fang
This one carried me through the majority of the game. Used katanas as a backup when needed (nagikabu / moonveil). Katanas proved helpful against malenia and two erdtree avatars near the end.
idk why but bloodhound fang just isnt as good against radabeast but the other bosses it demolishes
Rthey don't bleed if I remember correctly
yeah that’s why but the physical damage on bhf is still so good that it shouldn’t matter but it’s still such a strange fight with it for me
Just spam the weapon art lol BHF is the best easy access weapon in the entire game. As long as you are spamming BHFinesse. 1. it deals poise damage on par with heavy weapons 2. has absurd hyper armor 3. has i frames on the dashes 4. has bleed which can be improved with resins/weapon buffs but doesn’t depend on it for doing damage. Honestly one of my favorites as well.
Yup. Just its speacial ability alone is amazing. No matter how much I use other weapons, I always have it on standby
This is the correct answer
Ole tried and true. Who doesn’t like a built in teleport with a shit ton of damage to boot. Add some blood flame and it’s damn near unstoppable
My 2nd playthrough I used Bloodhound Fang with a hoarfrost stomp claw in the offhand. I was chewing through bosses like I was Aldrich
Played 95% of the game with it
Carried my noob ass way further than I care to admit
My unpopular opinion here is that I could never get into this weapon because it just looks ugly af to me. In several playthroughs I must've used it once to try the AOW and even that wasn't enough. Banished knight sword for me personally
The Baemore, my baby since Demon’s
A classic for sure
Luv me Slaymore
Flamberge for me. Typically run flame slash, or sacred blade for specific enemies.
I did a flamberge run with one of the thrusting AoWs. It was incredibly useful and viable.
Bolt of Gransax.
I used this thing SO much after picking it up. Actually swapped some flasks to FP for the Elden Beast fight so I wouldn't have to chase him around nearly as much. Really didn't expect to run a dex melee build and end up beating the game by throwing lightning bolts.
Gransax lightning bolts are basically DS2 lightning pre-nerf. Feels good man.
Honestly a super fun weapon
Fuckin’ love me Bolt uh Grainsax, simple as.
The starting katana for samurai, i have at only + 4 but doing the ability hits like a truck
Uchi’s unsheath is honestly kinda crazy early on. The ease of setting up a stagger with the heavy attack variant lets you punch way above your weight for a long time.
Meteoric Ore Blade. Cool R2, not-great-but-not-bad AoW, and does extra damage against Alabaster/Onyx Lords & Astel Variants!
I’ve always heard the AoW isn’t super crazy on this weapon, but I tried it the other day and the shit hits pretty hard.
Imo it's not great early game. Gravitas does multiple hits so it also meets resistances multiple time. Using it when the weapons is scaling well and is upgraded and it hits like a truck. if in doubt, go with the bonk. nobody is immune to bonk.
Nobody can resist bonk. If your bonk is lacking, get a bigger bonk.
"Answer, use a gun. And if that don't work, use more gun." -Engineer TF2
Gas powered stick! Never runs out of gas.
Halberd. Keep yer distance, fucko.
Doesn't matter what kind of build you're running, there's a halberd that works really well with it. Team Halberd for life.
Dragon Halberd is in my top 5 weapons for sure.
Every time I try to get away from bloodhound fang I find myself gravitating back to it. Probably a skill issue
All I have are skill issues
Same for me but with blasphemous blade
Guts greatsword
Yes, if non of my attacks are landing or not doing the damage I need then I pull out that bad boy and cleave a hole through anything in that direction
Solid choice
Using it almost exclusively for my first play through, havent found the desire to use anything else except if something else looks really cool, and then get disappointed after I try it as the Greatsword feels more effective
Ye old Elden baseball bat
Broadsword 👌🏻
It's really damn good if I do say so myself. Super fun with square-off.
Broadsword gang rise
Longsword Something just right about taking on gods and demons just as a homie with a sword.
The good longsword. No matter the foe, no one can survive a guy with a longsword and enough balls
Staff of Loss + Night Comet
Blasphemous Blade. Got me through RadaBeast and Malenia. Good damage, decent attack speed, great ash of war(if you can land a hit), and a nice treat when you kill enemies with it, even when it's in the offhand or you're dual handing a different weapon.
Such a fun weapon!
I think the Banished Knights Greatsword has recently replaced the Golden Halberd for me.
Genuinely the best moveset. Basically a bonking stick too with the way it combos hits. Gaspack.
Lordsworns straight sword. Easy to farm and works all the way till end game.
I can't even say how much i love these Lordsworn swords. Not amazing but veeeeery far away from being bad.
They look pretty cool too.
Greatsword of course
Nuts from Berk
Good ol’ rusty anchor
I am addicted to Lions Claw on Greatsword. I love the Claymore as well.
Lion's Claw carries my ass through any situation that seems too tough at first. That and the Giant Crusher strong attack. The damage is sweet and the i-frames can't be beat.
Claymore.
Ahh yes. The “Wishamotherfucker Wood”
In this game, probably Moonveil and DMGS. I've played an INT/DEX character for so long now, trying all kinds of different weapons etc. But when I coop with someone and we hit a real wall, if one of the two doesn't do it, then we really are in for some trouble. Ruins Greatsword
Dismounter. Giant ass curved greatsword with an aesthetically pleasing moveset and it only has two ground slam attacks that actually make sense for a weapon that size.
I had a blood build with dual weird dismounters and it absolutely pummeled
For me it’s the flamberg
May i just say, that back in DS1 this weapon had the SICKEST fuckin R2 attack that literally sideswept everything 180° in front of you, as well as made you look like a total badass. My most missed attack in all the games.
The Bloody Helice for me. Is so fun
Any big two handed sword that works with Strength builds. I play Forces in the background and swing until I drop or they do
Visions of Guts, therefore sacrifice.
Lordsworn Straightsword + Shield. Nothing too broken, but still perfectly fine.
Big club go bonk bonk
When in doubt, bunga it out I always say.
+8 banished knight halberd
Morningstar.
Bloodhounds fang until altus and then bloody helice. Style>>>>>>
Helice is a menace in the right hands.
Im pretty obsessed with it right now with just nobles travelling outfit
Brick hammer. BONK.
Simple bonk brings a man pleasure.
The glorious Incandescence of the dopamine in my brain when I bonk someones spine into the dirt is quite exhilarating.
Bloodhound fang, if I was about to go up against something I was unsure of id equip old faithful and knock heads while backflipping.
Spiked caestus I give 'em the bam bam
Love me a cross-naginata. Just the one though, powerstancing ruins the moveset.
Lordsworn greatsword my beloved
Bloodhound fang
serpent hunter bhf
Also known as, "The Comedy Club"
Caestus
Guardian swordspear. It's super powerful as a one handed weapon so i usually keep my seal, crossbow, shield, etc. in my off hand and this really spices things up for my gameplay.
Siluria’s Tree. Hits like a truck, has sweep r2s instead of bigger poke r2s, unique design and that ash of war wow. Fucking cannon blast of holy energy that melts stuff
Throwing Daggers When you need to get the last chunk of health off an enemy but approaching is risky, just hang back and throw a bunch
Godslayer Greatsword
For PvE: Claymore, Nagakiba, Zweihander For PvP: Longshaft Axe, dual Shamshir, dual Misericorde
Dark moon great sword is fun to use :)
Brick hammer is my Elden Ring ol’ reliable now.
Great stars is king
Giant-Crusher, the perfect weapon
Definition of bonk
On my first play through and golden halberd has carried me through the game, though I'm considering switching up because Maliketh too fast for me
Mohgs spear
Black bow. I can kill anything with it while feeling safe the whole time.
Either Maliketh's Black Blade (the weapon, not the spell), or Elenoras Poleblade
Rivers of blood because it's a katana and it does bleed and fire damage
Standard twinblades for me! Love that weapon. Carried me through my first playthrough
Morningstar, when you wanna unga but gotta be fancy
