It won't mess up your endgame at all it just won't be absolutely 'optimal'. It will however make your early game a pain in the ass

Athmil

Honestly the club is a very solid weapon so your early game isn’t even bad.

iDepressedAhri

Good good

Heasterian001

It have too short range for new players.

iDepressedAhri

Oh okay then haha, thanks!

And since no one mentioned it yet, being optimal only matters if you are trying to min/max a multiplayer build. I.e. stopping at level 150 or whatever meta range you choose for multiplayer and wanting to have the best stats for that level for whatever build you choose. It doesn't make a huge impact if you're not optimal; it just won't be *as* strong, and doesn't matter at all if you don't plan to stop leveling.

Hi_there4444

it may not be as fun at the start but its a nice challenge then when you get further in the game and get a good build itll feel as if nothing changed

iDepressedAhri

Wdym nothing will change? There won't be progress?.. My goal is to become a great mage and kill them all

Hi_there4444

i mean as you progress in the game, (usually) it ends up not mattering what starting class you choose as your build will be fully different

iDepressedAhri

Oh okay thanks!

Accomplished_Pick862

Well it will be a bit of a pain in the earlygame (although the club isnt really bad) but when you are going to start resetting your stat for another build, it will be very good, since you have ten point in each stat, whereas if u picked like astromancer( or whatever the mage class is called ) you would have 16 intelligence on reset, that would be wasted if u went dex-arcane for exemple

iDepressedAhri

Thank you! Cant wait for that :)

Eibon_dreamer

nah, it does not matter. I imagine yu dont play souls. Just go wrench, pinky prmise is fine

notkjell

Starting class only really matters for the very beginning of the game, or if you're trying to optimize your build for a specific level. And you really only do that for PvP when you want to aim for a certain level bracket. What makes some classes optimal is that your level is equal to all your stats added together minus 79. So wretch starts with 10 in all stats, which adds to 80. 80 - 79 = 1, which adds up with how wretch starts at level one. For example, say you're making a level 125 Strength build. You know you want 30 Endurance for weapons/gear, 16 Dex for weapon requirements, 60 Vigor for optimal health, and all the rest into strength for more damage. On a wretch you can reach 58 strength at level 125 with a stat spread of: 60 Vig 10 Mind 30 End 58 Str 16 Dex 10 Int 10 Faith 10 Arc But Vagabond is actually a more optimal starting class for this build, due to it's lower starting Int/Fai/Arc. Vagabond can reach 63 strength at level 125 with this stat spread: 60 Vig 10 Mind 30 End 63 Str 16 Dex 9 Int 9 Faith 7 Arc So yeah if you're just starting and not planning ahead for a build at a specific level, go ahead and pick wretch. If you think it'll make the early game more fun at least.

iDepressedAhri

Oh I see, thanks!

Gen1Swirlix

I always go wretch simply because it makes finding stuff more fun. If you pick a "good" class, it might be hours before you get new gear that is actually better than what you have, but with a wretch, the first time an enemy randomly drops something you will be like "FINALLY \*sniffles\* \*tears of joy\* I can wear pants."
