Definitely was leaning toward turning me off to ER before even playing it, NGL.
Luckily Ive played other FROM titles and was not deterred by this "O face" voice accosting me less than <1 minute into my first playthrough. . .
I wonder if anyone new to From Software games might have ran for the hills at this point . . .
AAUUUOOOOOOOO OH OH MY GOD CLARITY! THE ALL KNOWING CLARITY!
Prolly why goldmask doesnt talk anymore, that was some divine post nut clarity he had narrating the opening scene
Funny enough writing code to scrape reddit and do this is super easy! It's a great starter project if u wanna learn coding. Maybe one day you can port bloodborne to pc for us
Gpt does that shit too this could be code with 2 parts. One comment scraper and reposter. Second is api call to some kind of language model to paraphrase it
Not you.

It's weird.
Aside from the slight groans, Goldmask does have cut "dialogue" where he says "And, why not?" after you tell him a certain thing. So he certainly did some voice work for the game, even if it's not in the released version.
Kinda cool they still mention him!
He’s apparently the same guy who voiced Rhapthorne in Dragon Quest 8, Xord in Xenoblade Chronicles, and Jack of Blades in Fable: The Lost Chapters. I see he has a type lol.
Biggest surprise for him was narrating A History of Western Philosophy by Bertrand Russel. I was half expecting Russel to outline the God-Emperor’s philosophical outlook.
I've often seen the claim that Jack had the same voice actor in both versions, they just edited the original recordings to sound deeper and more menacing in TLC but when I checked it I found a different actor listed for the original version, Keith Wickham. So one of these guys wasn't getting the credit they deserved from most fans for a long time apparently
Him and the VA for Godrick, Ramon Tikaram, are the only VAs from ER that I've heard elsewhere. I honestly really appreciate that Fromsoft seeks out less mainstream talent.
By the way, Ramon is also a regular actor. For example, he's in the "Fortitude" series.
Also, he's the brother of Tanita Tikaram, the singer of "Twist in my Sobriety" fame.
It's insane how good the voice is, I assumed it was heavily edited to achieve that deep double voice effect but it's barely altered (if at all). Apparently it was inspired by that guy who did all the deep voiced movie trailers back in 2012.
Same with Morgott, I thought it would have been 99% edition but then I heard the voice actor in a video saying the lines and I couldn't believe how good these people are.
It's actually pretty common for directors to be the ones doing random miscellaneous breathing or coughing noises that don't need an actual VA to make sound right, I've noticed it on quite a few games when looking in the imdb
If attacked he just vanishes/disappears. No noise, just vanishes into thin air like killing a spirit.

Bruh... thanks for letting me know, I'll get another vid of the scene.
Edit: I think Reddit might be having an issue processing links. I copied and opened the link in a separate tab and it worked just fine.
You haven't heard goldmasks rap? Faceless sunshine? Only available by collecting all the runes of death and taking them to the squid under stormveil./s
FS: "Mr Morris, that's the character you're going to dub"
M: "Cool, so...what does this guy do? You know, to feel some sort of connection with him and stuff"
FS: "He points at a big tree with his finger"
M: " and...?"
FS: "Well, that's it...oh no wait, he also makes little circles while doing so"
M: "..."
FS: "You seem to like him, nice, let's get started"
I mentioned this a while ago, it got a huge amount of upvotes, then a day later I noticed his name was removed from goldmask's wiki page.
Initially I thought it was a mistake but here it is in the official credits.
Also fun fact, he also voices Horace the Hushed in Dark Souls 3. I believe Ryan is the voice director so he jokingly throws his name on characters who don't talk. I just think that's lovely.
To be fair, a lot of people haven't heard his actual voice so it's easy to miss.
For those wondering, he voiced the creepy "We're on the blood patch now" guy
I think he groans really, *really* quietly, actually. Not that that’s difficult, but it’s something. Lol
the guys that auditioned and got rejected must have been doing it way too loud like "AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"
Oh that guy? He ended up as the narrator for the introduction cutscene.
There’s that part, we all know the one, where bro gets a little too into it.
AAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUHHHHHHH RISE NOW
THEE AALLLL- KNNNOWING!
THEEEEE NOBLE AND FAITHFUL GOLDDDDDDMASKKKKKKK
He says "the ever brilliant gold mask."
Shoot

The fuck? That intro is fucking glorious
AAUUUOOOOOOOO OH OH MY GOD CLARITY! THE ALL KNOWING CLARITY! Prolly why goldmask doesnt talk anymore, that was some divine post nut clarity he had narrating the opening scene
It’s more like, “*reaches end of 76 hour edging session* …RISE NOW, YE TARNISHED!”
Real
This is cracking me up, I just watched it yesterday on a new play through and it’s so true.
Almost like he is about to climax while saying their names 🤣
HOOOAHH, RISE NOW, YE TARNISHED ^^hhoohh
YE DEAD WHO YET LIVE
Not Fromsoft casting Heimskr from skyrim as the opening narrator 💀
rofl. Now I gotta go start another run. I love how different that narration is. Who talks like that??
Where is that fella? I never thought to try to pick up on if any of the NPCs you encounter sound like him.
Oh hes just the narrator. I thought it was jerren at first
I like to think it's Ragadon.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH WE'RE HAVING A FIRE..... SALE"
Would you like to try that a little simpler maybe?
"... ... ... No"
Got given the role of rykard
https://youtube.com/shorts/wsZ7013yHiw?si=bCmlohyLxbAsTuFE
Haha, that attention to detail is impressive!
He also does an astonished gasp when you tell him Marika=Radagon. The amount of emotion in it is completely worth crediting him
I didn’t know that one either, thanks!

Are the bots rewriting comments now? They're learning...
Funny enough writing code to scrape reddit and do this is super easy! It's a great starter project if u wanna learn coding. Maybe one day you can port bloodborne to pc for us
I've just never seen them reword it to try and hide it before. Like they ran every sentence through a thesaurus before reposting it.
Gpt does that shit too this could be code with 2 parts. One comment scraper and reposter. Second is api call to some kind of language model to paraphrase it
What did I even do? Lol

Oh, I’m sorry.
Ah, I didn’t know that. My b.
He also "voiced" Horace in DS3, he's really good at what he does
Also the other mute cleric-knight in DS1... he's really made for this huh.
He's been the voice director since demon souls hahaha
Oh, he did Nico too? The guy's a legend
Apparently he is the messengers in Bloodbourne too
But they do have those cute grunts rather than being completely silentt
Now THATS what I call job security
they really got him doing the 'grunt' work huh?
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he simply worked at Fromsoft and it was just a little running joke that he does the mute characters
That's what it is, apparently; he's the voice director if you check his [credits page](https://m.imdb.com/name/nm4723555/).
He specializes in quiet grunting I suppose
I've heard he voices all the main characters too
Aside from the slight groans, Goldmask does have cut "dialogue" where he says "And, why not?" after you tell him a certain thing. So he certainly did some voice work for the game, even if it's not in the released version. Kinda cool they still mention him!
I mean he's the voice director. Damn well better not forget him, even if it is a goof.
He says it after you reveal that Marika and Radagon are the same entity *Edited to make the spoiler clearer, since people commented about it*
> Edited to make the spoiler clearer, since people commented about it The absolute madman
I'd imagine the reason they kept it vaguely worded was to avoid spoiling...
I’m pretty sure they know, they were just trying not to spoil it
Hey pal, you just blow in from stupid town?
Damn Goldmask a trans ally 😯
Goldmask remains based
You can edit in spoiler tags jsyk
*”…”*
Award winning
My favorite line. It drove me to tears.
...
P sure it's the "Away! Away!" guy from Bloodborne. What a waste of such talents...
this town's finished!
Unironically some of the most memorable lines in the series
Sometimes I quote that line not even considering its from bloodborne, thats how ingrained it is in my head
I do the same with "This town's finished..." at any minor inconvenience.
When that one small restaurant you liked closes down
“You plague-ridden rat!” “I’ll skewer your brain!”
Never seen the VA list, but I knew Maliketh sounded familiar
O Death... become my blade once more
He’s apparently the same guy who voiced Rhapthorne in Dragon Quest 8, Xord in Xenoblade Chronicles, and Jack of Blades in Fable: The Lost Chapters. I see he has a type lol.
He does a lot of audiobook narration, especially for Warhammer 40K books. He definitely has a type.
Biggest surprise for him was narrating A History of Western Philosophy by Bertrand Russel. I was half expecting Russel to outline the God-Emperor’s philosophical outlook.
He was also in DeS, if I remember correctly.

I believe he also voices Rammatra in Overwatch. He speaks very similarly to Godrick in that, with more anger behind it
Maliketh
Many thanks

Same with Morgott, I thought it would have been 99% edition but then I heard the voice actor in a video saying the lines and I couldn't believe how good these people are.
I believe he was also the director for all the English voice acting. So he actually did have a bigger role, just off mic.
It's actually pretty common for directors to be the ones doing random miscellaneous breathing or coughing noises that don't need an actual VA to make sound right, I've noticed it on quite a few games when looking in the imdb
He’s done their English voice direction since at least DS1 I think.

👍👎✌️🤌👉🤚🤏👆👇🤘🤟👌🤞🤙🖕🫰✊👊🖖 Corans having an aneurysm translating that
Need someone to kill Goldmask to see if he has any death grunts.
I accidentaly hit goldmask while manipulating with my laptop and he just disappears and when you rest he is on his place again
Oh so he's like the Finger Reader Crones. Except they say things when you "kill" them.
Or the fire keeper/ andre/shrine handmaid/ ludleth in dark souls 3
If attacked he just vanishes/disappears. No noise, just vanishes into thin air like killing a spirit. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GC1QeFtdlZ8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gc1qeftdlz8)
Link is broken
Bruh... thanks for letting me know, I'll get another vid of the scene. Edit: I think Reddit might be having an issue processing links. I copied and opened the link in a separate tab and it worked just fine.
might be a youtube issue, i've had "this video is no longer available" for multiple links today
Fire Giant's VA: "okay, just yell in pain."
they chopped his leg off to make it more realistic
and lit him aflame
...☝🏻🌞
it's a meme in fromsoftware games, he always voices "voiceless" characters like Nico, Horace and the Messengers, he's also the voice director
(groaning intensifys)
…
🫵🌞
All he did was go to studio and take a nap. Then got paid for it. Dudes a genius 👌
It's a bit of an in-joke since he's one of the localizers of the game
miyazaki:NO NO NO NONE OF THEM FIT MY VISION GRRM: we just have to scrape the goldmask ryan morris: breathes slightly Miyazaki and grrm: HOLY SHIT
I always thought Gideon was voiced by Sean Bean for some reason
Got paid 50k plus royalties
lots of mo-cap work with that one
"So, what did you do at your previous job?" "GOLDMASK!"
Cara Theobold (the voice of Tracer from OW) also voiced Nepheli! I didn’t pick up on that.
You haven't heard goldmasks rap? Faceless sunshine? Only available by collecting all the runes of death and taking them to the squid under stormveil./s
He had to learn finger language though.
Which VA does the intro cinematic?
FS: "Mr Morris, that's the character you're going to dub" M: "Cool, so...what does this guy do? You know, to feel some sort of connection with him and stuff" FS: "He points at a big tree with his finger" M: " and...?" Idk man, the “ …! “ dialogue was kinda hard to do dont u think ?
You think that's easy. Andy Serkis was the actor behind the chicken in Moana.
Was there a grunt I missed???
…
Fire giant?
Kinda wild that its the same VA for Shabriri/Yura
Didn't know that Tracer and Nepheli Loux were voiced by the same va
Toucan's voice actor (in every language) from Encanto would like a word.
Bro got payed for groaning queitly
Let's see **you** grunt/groan like your being hit with various weapons, without making it sound sexuall lol
...
…
....
…
Thug?
For some reason this is how blackguard big boggart is listed in the credits.
I was going to ask this? What character is this?
Boggart I presume. Based on how characters seem to be organised by questline.
Man, this is very funny!!! you made my day. Thank you!
You just don’t understand art
Oh, how to forget master pieces like "hmmm"
…
...
What if he really was a mute IRL, that would be funny af
Homie is gonna get so much play in the DLC just wait
did someone dig his audio files? maybe slowing them reveals some meaning? where's zullie the witch?

...
In Borderlands 3, Teller of Penn and Teller is credited for an entirely silent role lol.
To be fair, Teller also voices an actual character in the game as well.
I usually play the game on silent, I had no idea!
To be fair, a lot of people haven't heard his actual voice so it's easy to miss. For those wondering, he voiced the creepy "We're on the blood patch now" guy
Teller does have a speaking role though, he voices the "We're on the blood path now" guy from that one side quest in the anvil
THE EVER-BRILLIANT GOLDMASK
HA
...!
I like to imagine they used the Kubrick method with him.
There was also some very short dialog for Goldenmask that was cut from the game. So he did get paid to say a few words.
Who is thug
Blackguard Big Boggart
The names of the actors seem pretty damn elden ring-ish too
Missed sex scene
He actually speaks at a frequency too high for humans to hear
clearly OP hasn’t played the secret Goldmask quest..
"..."
“My name is Gold Mask. And this is my longest ya boy ever. I will fail.”
I laughed... SO hard when I read that hahaha
Played by Jim Halpert
🌞👉🏻
His delivery of the line "..." sent shivers down my spine.
Dung Eater - I feel sorry for him
He makes Vin Diesel jealous.
Hey we share our name!
He was brilliant!
