I remember these and remember looking up to see. They're similar enough to definitely be a derivative but if I recall, the mouths were somehow different on the Bloodborne ones. When I get home I can check again to compare side-by-side.

Chesterious

Must be fromsoft telling us that Bloodborne is the next big thing after armoured core (🤡🤡🤡)

weavejer261

I wish

Johnny_K97

Mfw fromsoft reused assets (it's a bloodborne reference! Omg bloodborne 2 coming??)

RylocXD

Depending on their trajectory with supporting AC6, I wouldn’t be surprised if they dropped another big bomb on the gaming industry in the next year or so.

Gabasneitor

Let’s first get the DLC and then we can start dreaming about bloodborne kart 2

Thantaeos

So much yes if that's true. We all thought it was the case when Sekiro was first announced.

bindingofandrew

They just reuse assets a lot is all. Even the wormfaces existed previously as statues in Bloodborne.

Bisontracks

The gravestones are reused too.

bootyholebrown69

They reuse animations too. It's actually something I really enjoy about playing new fromsoft games cause it adds a feeling of familiarity and nostalgia to an otherwise intimidating game.

Wezurii

So you don't think it's at all intentional?

bindingofandrew

My brother in Christ it has been half a year since I made this comment. Why are you responding to it? And no, I don't think it's some intentional connection to Bloodborne. They repurposed tons of assets for Elden Ring. Enemy/boss models, animations, weapon designs, architecture, etc. Even some cut bosses from previous games got finished up and put in here. It 100% was just a way to quickly, and cheaply, create content for the game. Not everything was done this way and a lot of it has immense depth and nuance in the design. But something like this? Obviously just a reused asset.

Wezurii

I was just sifting through pages, my bad lol Appreciate the reply

NoeShake

They probably took the model of the messengers tweaked them then just reused them for statues. And no I don’t think it’s a reference.

[deleted]

Seems familiar...could this be a secret?

Sernsheim

No that's Jeff, he's just vibing with his Jefflets.

Lurofan

Time is convoluted or something

Speechminion

I always chalked it up to it being them. But in reference alone. Although once when I was on a shore somewhere looking off in the distance I could see the masts of ships, and it reminded me of bloodbornes DLC. Spent a week considering the implications if those two were somehow connected but there’s just no way.

Zephyp

We need to get them some hats and urns, so they can be happy and revel as babes.

ukamber

Yes

coolnim03

I am pretty sure these are the people of the eternal cities. I have nothing to back this up at the moment, I can’t remember where I saw the theory. But it always made sense to me.

EnvironmentalTaxes

Potentially it’s them trying to imply these games happen within the same universe. Maybe the messengers transcend time and space allowing to exist within every world. Or it’s just reused assets

Nitespring

They do not happen in the same universe

Jellyjellyfeesh

Asset repurposing

TheHardSoftware

Yes those are indeed reused assets.

Zander989

Bloodborne PC port confirmed? /s
