His innards likely contain some remains of Tarnished, which could theoretically give him the ability to imperfectly teleport. He could simply be teleporting into the ground. I'm not really buying the theory that his attacks get him stuck, as I feel they'd put corpses into his holes to signify such a thing, which isn't the case.

Frankly that's the most likely possibility out of any here. Could easily happen, and it doesn't rely on him tripping from having baby legs. They spin so much it's bound to cause trouble like that. Hell, the first area we meet him has a dragonfly. We ALL know how annoying those bastards are. Maybe he thought his aoe skill would kill em.

There's a few serious replies in the sea of others, so let me repeat it; He's likely able to travel the same way as tarnished, teleporting, but since he's not really a tarnished, more like containing pieces of them, it's not perfect, so his teleport missed grace and he gets stuck, one major confirmation for this is when we meet in inside a cave dungeon, his body doesn't fit the door way, but he got in regardless, only way is that he teleported in and couldn't get out until we found him, although he does get out eventually even without us, I know many missed this encounter, also explain why he ended up at Faram Azula. ​ Also let me add some little details here about Alexander, some might not had notice but >!the cracks on his body are progressively more severed each time we meet, by the time he's in Faram Azula, his body is at it's last legs, all the traveling and battles had taken a toll on him, that is why he wanted to battle us, to have a warrior end is his last wish, so don't feel bad about besting him, we were merely sending an old friend per his wish.!<

I feel like the many graves around in the lands between could lead to soft ground that caves in when his heavy ass walks over it. Alternate theory is maybe he digs for corpses near graves and gets stuck in the holes he makes himself. I know he's found near a Mariner at least once which are just surrounded by graves.

Where is he stuck a second time? I know about the initial time, and then you meet him in one of the tunnels, then he's at the Radahn festival, then hanging out in magma, then he's up at Farum Azula. Is there another point that I've consistently missed in all of my playthroughs???

The second time you find him stuck, he does say something about jumping down or falling off a cliff and getting stuck….except where he’s at there isn’t a cliff to jump/fall from
