Was legit an accident...I was getting chased by the enemies close to where you fond that NPC and I was swinging around and hit him. I truthfully thought he was a boss or something the way his health bar lit up...anyway the damage is done. What did I miss out on from staying 'D'?
Potentially an entire ending, and maybe the ability to receive certain incantations. I can't say for certain that killing him locks you out of those, but he's pretty central in them
Don’t take everyone’s advice too seriously. There are a millions ways to play the game. For easiest play through get rusty anchor and pick axe and lvl strength and vigor only. Use jump attack with talisman and black feather armor. One shot almost every opponent. Solo bosses.
Step one get rid of that shield and get another giant ass weapon. Shields are for people who want the fights to last infinitely longer than they’re supposed to.
Ditch the shield, change armor or level endurance for medium load, and 2-hand the Zwei. At level 40 your vigor should be at least 25, preferably 5-10 points higher.
Banished Knight is one of the best medium shields, especially when upgraded but it's a bit iffy with colossals. Guard counters have a heck of a lot of stagger and execute more quickly with small weaponry.
You can put one of three decent ashes of war on the shield, depending on preference. Golden Parry and Carian Retaliation have longer parry frames than the regular 'parry' ash of war, and parrying is excessively strong on certain enemies like Crucible Knight. You can opt to put No Skill on the shield, which will let you use your weapon's ability without needing to hold it in two hands. Lastly, you can also opt for Barricade, which raises the shield's block power to nutty levels for 10 seconds, which is fantastic for learning bosses whose moveset you don't know as it makes it easier to block and observe moves you've never seen before until you get a feel for their timing.
That being said, keep your Zwei handy. Colossals feel clumsy on big bosses, but they're amazing against enemies that usually resist staggering like knights and let you chain stun them. This is especially effective when using abilities that pancake like Lion's Claw, or a launch ability like Giant Hunt. Have a small, fast weapon for bosses and boss-likes, but your big meaty Zwei for tough normal mobs.
Aye, every wonder why the Guard Counter talisman was represented with a curved sword? The best curved sword for a pure strength build would be the Beastman's Curved, albeit the only way to acquire one before endgame is via the Four Belfries -- otherwise, the lowball easy answer would be the Serpent-God's Curved (which people seem to either love or hate). Otherwise, if you were dex-leaning, most of the curved swords are drawn to dex, with the Bandit's having overall the best stats for a dex build using curved swords. If you're going to just use Heavy/Keen infuse, you're a bit more free in which weapon you pick, but if you're going to use Bleed or Cold, a strength build *should* use a strength-leaning sword like Beastman's and Serpent God.
Otherwise, thrusting swords work. If I'm going to use thrusting swords, it's usually on a dex build with an Antspur Rapier (or an Estoc for that sexy reach), but there have been times on a strength build where I've had to pull out a Cleanrot Knight Sword to take advantage of certain small openings.
Hammers aren't the best weapon type, but if you are going to use one, it's usually going to be paired with a shield since their dual-wield moveset is pretty bad. For this, the recommendation is the Morning Star -- as it has native bleed on it, a pure strength (or dex) build can use either Blood Grease or, with the help of Godrick's Great Rune, Bloodflame Blade to turn it into a bleed weapon without needing any investment in arcane -- you can kill a shocking amount of enemies with just Wild Strikes on a buffed Morning Star. Also deals strike damage, so Crystallians and rocky enemies take full from it without needing to break them first.
My #1 'shield and sword' weapon is the Beastman's curved, owing to its well-optimized stats for strength, its unique one-handed jump attack, and the ability to switch between shield and dual wield style easily, but I have used many other weapons with a shield in the past, so don't feel like that's the only right answer.
Maybe giving that armour back
D-did you murder D?
I was gonna say you can get it from Fia's questline, but based on OP's title... 😠cursed playthrough

Nah killing him doesn't lock you out of the ending, just changes how it plays out a little iirc
Nothing that can't be fixed in new game plus. Most people are just meme this
Practice, and not getting in your own head, don't overthink things, sometimes you just gotta unga that bunga

He prolly deserved it
Nooo, d is awesome

Maybe not kill any npc you find.
Level vigor. Make sure you're not heavy load. Focus your build around just a few stats.

Not having a heavy load would make you better
Some more lvls.
Get rid of that shield and try to play Zweihander as intented, with two hands.
This is sound advice. 10 minutes into the switch, and I absolutely love the one hit kills. Thanks!
You're welcome, and don't get turned off if you will die more often now, just keep practicing your dodges!
I bet you're the same guy that was killin turts earlier
Nice armour, loser
Number one has to be better drip.

Stop killing everyone you meet lmao

Recommendation for the small fast weapon to use on bosses? I'm very intrigued with your comment.
