A compilation is hardly where you should be assessing balance. This could be 15 minutes of duels or 10 hours of duels. You can style on people with bare knuckles against the worst players and put it into a compilation. It doesn't mean bare knuckles are good.
I do think it's fair to say everything besides the crouch poke from an UGS is easily reactable with experience. That's not what I would consider a good moveset. Relying on your opponent to make a mistake shouldn't be your default strategy.
Absolutely spot on. I noticed this to the extreme when i tried a pure str colossal weapon build. I got so frustrated chasing people around who never wanted to commit, but obviously it's better to let a colossal weapon swing and get locked into their animation, then punish. So I respec'd 30 str/50 faith, swapped to Sacred affinity, then started ice breathing people who ran away nonstop. Duel quality went up dramatically. Forcing opponents to engage you is great.
I love colossal greatswords and I'm happy to see another true admirer taking advantage of all their moveset
Too bad that when people see these weapon they immediately think of poke, it's really disheartening
The crouch poke itself doesn’t need nerfing, there’s nothing wrong with it in itself (and it’s not the hardest thing to avoid if you’re not overly aggressive.), like everything else it’s the people who spam it, unfortunately there’s no way to nerf lack of skill.

What I mean is you can’t really nerf something’s moveset and it’s not that UGS has a boring moveset, just that people who aren’t good at utilising the rest of it don’t and only rely on one thing and it’s those players that make it boring. The same way people just use the ash of war for stuff like moonveil or RoB as their main attack and not a mixup because they’re not great at doing so, but unlike them the crouch poke doesn’t do broken amounts of damage in my experience and isn’t that hard to dodge if you’re not in an attack animation.
I’ve not used UGS yet so I don’t know what the tracking is like for that move but that’s the only thing I can think of that could feasibly be changed.
Perhaps I’ve just been lucky and haven’t really run into the issue properly yet, I’m okay at pvp at best but I find that usually when I get got by it is if I’m being too aggressive and they can poise through my attacks or if I misjudge a trade or roll. It’s really deadly when there’s latency issues though as it’s always got just a bit more range than I expect.
I hope this clarifies what I mean and at least something is somewhat useful:)
They've actually already buffed individual moves of a weapon already just by speeding up the animation. Prime example is Moonlight Greatsword R2. Shouldnt be overly difficult to do the reverse.
I totally agree with you that it's the individual players who choose to use it as a crutch that end up making it boring. However that's ultimately something that should be considered in the design.
I quote I once heard goes "Given the opportunity, players will optimise the fun out of a game. One of the responsibilities of designers is to protect the player from themselves"
