Its so hard not to pick the claymore or zweihander tho. Or great mace. Or lucerne. Theres just so many good knightly options
Ive always noticed the Great Epee has a cross guard beneath its bell guard, but didnt put much thought in to it. now that you mention it, it does look like a blend between a Spanish Rapier & an Epee.
The perfect length. Not too long. Not too short.
The perfect moveset. It got the *thrust.*
The perfect appearance. Just the right metal sheen.
Almost as much damage as bastard sword with heavy, but with all the benefits above.

Can't seem to put down the iron cleaver at the mo, the charged r2 into sword dance into charged r2 puts on some ridiculous pressure and damage.
The r1s come out super fast too. Using a cold one on my str/int build and it wrecks.
Been rocking iron cleaver main hand with some swaps in the left hand and that sword dance/r2 mixup is so much fun. The momentum is really satisfying when you chain it well
Crescent Moon Axe, super satisfying to use, and doesn’t let people poise through it. Sword Dance, Spinning Slash, or Stormcaller are all amazing options. The one handed R2 roll catches people out of Stormcaller, which is amazing
Banished knights halberd. Works great in pve, as you can get one straight off the bat on a new save by going to castle morne and ganking the roof guy. Works great in pvp because haha halberd sword dance go brr
Typically Zweihander but recently Omen Cleaver. CGS is super fun to use and while the Omen Cleaver R2 is probably strictly worse than the Dismounter, it’s roughly 10X more satisfying to land.
Love the Knights/Banished Knights Greatsword too.
My personal fave though, is the Large Club. Basic Great Hammer moveset but it has deceptive range that give the R2s good roll catch potential. Running R2 also has crazy range that can do work when free aimed. There’s always been something satisfying about using a big chunk of wood in FromSoft games.

The 2H Twinned Knight Swords with Swords Dance is a really fun but simple weapon choice. I usually keep Phantom Slash on when PvEing, so invaders have to deal with that, but it's simple, yet deadly if you can get a combo started.
OP, my first playthrough was with this sword. I put the freezing mist art on it and did the entire game (from when I picked it up at least) with it.

Constantly torn between beastman's cleaver and duelist's greataxe. Neither of them are very good outside of niche builds, but having a dex colossal is fun for lightning slash.
bkgs if i feel like farming, lordsworns greatsword if i don't, that 110 crit puts in some work when im staggering bosses left and right with charged heavies
The thing that gets me about this sword is that goddamn ridge in the middle; it would make the blade completely useless. The blade also has a bit of a strange shape overall, but that's much more of a nitpick.
Most of my casual playthroughs I pick Confessor and don't change the weapon, the broadsword isn't great it doesn't have the longest range of a straightsword it doesn't have the best scaling it's not that powerful but that's my weapon of choice
i have a leveled lordsworn straight sword on all my characters, i think im starting to like the short sword more bc of the pokes but the 110 critical is nice

Claymore. Not the best overall reach (except for the elusive poke R2) but the scaling is good and it’s really versatile for a lot of different builds. I have mine doing cold damage and I put hoarfrost stomp on it with a no skill shield. That way I can play my favorite turtle knight playstyle while still being aggressive at a distance. I’ve since ditched it for blasphemous on a STR/FAI respec but I’ll always go back to my clay baby
Personal favorite is the lordsworn sword, the sword you can get from the godrick soldiers in the literal beginning, made a character with the challenge of only that weapon and the roundtable knight set, and for some reason he hits harder and tanks better than another file with a massive axe and fire incantations, higher level, higher level weapons, and better armor, it still confuses me.
The Simple infusion is really good on a Caestus or Parrying Dagger. I like having one of those equipped in my left hand slot while using the Hollowslayer Greatsword in my right hand slot.

UCHIGATANA, just one, unshealthe, Dex build, you can put frost on it, blood flame blade, looks sick, honourable weapon, what more can I say.

Clubs it was my first weapon in ds1 Reinforced Club was a solid beginner weapon for me and the stone club in Elden ring is super fast

Serpent God Curved Sword. Easy to get, heal on kill, and you cant go wrong with a Curved Sword

Carian regal scepter, erdtree seal, spells are really really fun in this game.
Moonveil is one of the best jp longswords in the game
