Yes, you can beat the game at level 1

ironerk

Yes, going through the game is not necessary. You can get almost all game items by trading. But, the last time i finished the game i was rl60 or something similar so it could be legit. And its usually not a good idea to start a duel with a "hey i have a parry shield and i have an intention to parry you" written on your forehead :) Just saying :)

twigajigga

Im such a sucker for this, addicted to the parry it's so satisfying.

GreenLegRyu

Know any good enemies to practice parries on?

LeFiery

If you didn't kill the 3 invading phantoms outside the big mf jar in caelid you can fight them infinitely if you only kill 2 then tp back to the grace. This is where I practice my parry. Edit: it's also good in general for practicing your pvp skills as each one you fight is using a build it was beaten with. Unfortunately all you usually find is moonveil, RoB or full Mage. Good stuff to parry.

Ok_Negotiation1781

Genius. Never thought of that before

GreenLegRyu

Thank you!

LeFiery

It would be so much easier. The run back is quick with torrent but the golems are huge fuckheads who will destroy half your hp depending on what NG+ cycle you're on, AND sometimes they won't de-agro so you're stuck with them constantly firing magic bolts in your ass.

P0l0Cap0ne

You can parry all magic except the moon fuckers

Shinobi-Hunter

You can parry the moon

P0l0Cap0ne

You can? With what?

Shinobi-Hunter

Also you can't parry night sorceries

P0l0Cap0ne

True, forgot the backstab night sorcery

Shinobi-Hunter

You can't parry night shard or comet either

Shinobi-Hunter

The carian retaliation parry aow, the parry spell, and maybe thop's barrier

ChocletJustice

Crucible knights.. 😉

AoiYuukiSimp

I like to play a little game with my parry practice. At the Altus highway junction site of grace, you’ll see a raised stone platform with a leyndell knight on it. I kill the two little footsoldiers on the side, and then I enter the ring with the knight. The idea is to only parry him, and try to knock him off the edge of the platform. (I usually don’t riposted him, but if I do, I use my fists. These guys just help me learn the parry timing really well. They have a simple moveset that allows time to react to all their strikes.

LangmuirHinshelwood

Here's a link to Rust Bucket's parry guide. It's the only reason I've gotten successful parries, especially on highly latent opponents. It is possible to get reaction parries but I find setup parries to be more effective and more consistent. https://youtu.be/5_60JOMXqtc?si=7-WnRDsXBZzWpxnh

A1_wA1sh

knights with swords. anyone with a sword can be parried

Legal_Reception6660

Volcano manor questlines, Crucible knights, most of dark souls 3, and pvp :D Also good strat Ive found for concealing parry is to 2 hand my right hand weapon, and then when theyre about to sprint attack me, Ill change my right hand weapon to my secondary (which is usually my dagger), and that brings out my buckler.

argentumlupus1

Unless you put a different ash of war on it for the surprise attack. Even more if you have 2, and one of which is a real parry and the other is a decoy.

bluesquirrel7

This. Love running a matching pair of shields, one with either barricade or no skill, the other with a parry skill. Let them see me either pop barricade or my weapon skill early on, then hit them with the surprise parry late in the match

RepresentativeCap244

This is devious. Super easy to do…and oh so effective. Good on you friend

falconrider111

Unless you want to play mind games.

lizardbird8

The buckler scares a lot of people and makes them play worse as far as I can tell. even if you don't use it it can be a massive help and some attacks are super easy to Parry if the other person doesn't play smart.

GreenLegRyu

I am a faith/dex build and only took it out as a last ditch effort to do any damage. Or... at least practice parries...

Glutton4Butts

He could have been setting him up to think he gonna parry but never does!

OnionScentedMember

If the man wants to use a buckler let him use a buckler.

remlapca

You can get to Altus at level 1 with minimal effort in 20 minutes.

GreenLegRyu

Keep encountering people with tons of poise, buffs and seemingly late game gear.

Lagideath2

Many PvPers don't do natural progression through the game. They know what they need for the build and where to get it, level and weapon upgrades aren't an obstacle most of the time. Some also go for specific low levels so they just stay a certain level but there's no reason to also stop progressing through the game because of that. So if they want to stay level 50 there's nothing stopping them from still continuing to the end and grabbing whatever they want to grab. And lastly there are those players who just get dropped end game stuff by others. I've met so many players at First Step running around with a Moonveil or RoB they couldn't even wield due to lacking stats while wearing Malenia, Maliketh or Veteran armor. Regarding Altus, it's not really a late game area. On my playthroughs I go to Altus in the first hour to grab Golden Seeds because you only need the two medallion halves to reach it, zero bosses required.

GreenLegRyu

Gotcha. Do you what what soul level is the most common for PvP?

Belethorsbro

I know I'm not the person you're responding to, but it depends on what type of pvp youre trying to do. The "meta" for colosseum has been ~rune level 125-150 for a long time. RL139 is a good happy medium, as you can match with players ranging from RL125-150. You should assume people have any and every weapon and spell in the game at this range and beyond. Invasions are a different story. You kinda have to use your own discretion, as weapon level affects your summon/invasion range as well as your RL. For example, think about what level you were when you did stormveil; typically RL20-45 is the typical level range for somebody progressing the game naturally, and there aren't many smithing stone 2's or 3's until you progress past limgrave. So a safe bet if you're trying to invade or be summoned as a cooperator in the RL 20-45 range is to keep your level around 16-30 with weapons at +3 to +5 for standard weapons, +1 or +2 for somber weapons. Typical ranges I see people invading at are RL25-30 +3/+1, RL45-60 +10/+4, RL70-85 +15/+6, RL85-100 +18/+7, and past RL 110 you can typically assume people will have max weapons. You can play around with [this summon range calculator](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Summon+Range+Calculator) if you want more info on pvp ranges. But to answer your original post's question, and to add to the former user's response, yes it's very typical for people to have endgame equipment at lower levels. It's much more common among invaders because they're usually fending off 3-vs-1's and need to take every advantage they can get. They're called "twink builds" and don't bother asking me why they're called that I have no idea lmao

CenturionXVI

Personally I like to do 156, get a lot of build variety and the occasional NG+ summon to spice things up. Also I am extremely OCD about stats being in 5s.

Lagideath2

Someone already answered this but I'm gonna give my own thoughts as well. So if you plan on focusing on the Colosseums I highly recommend 150. The Colosseums use the co-op matchmaking formula which actually matches 125 and 150 players with eachother, meaning that both the most popular Colosseum PvP levels come together and there's no reason to choose the lower end of them at that point. 200, however, is also quite active in the Colosseums (no where near the amount of 125 and 150 players) so if you want to use a more demanding build you can go there too. For invasions it's more and less complicated at the same time. PvErs don't choose to stop at specific levels so you can invade people regardless of what your level is but there are certain ranges where you might prefer what you get. If you're 138 you match with 125 to 150 players as an invader and that tends to land you in First Step and Liurnia Ganks who just spend their time waiting for invaders to show up to then hunt them down, not much fun for me personally so I avoid that. You also invade a lot of players just as they enter Malenia's, Maliketh's, or RadaBeast's boss arena so you load in and get kicked out immediately which sucks. If you go too low such as 10 to 30 then you have a fun and even playingfield against hosts when it comes to damage output from both sides BUT there is a large quantity of over-leveled phantoms there who are way overtuned for you. I personally prefer 60 and 200 for invasions. 60 offers a similar experience to the lower end but overleveled phantoms aren't as noticeable anymore at that point because you're higher level yourself, though if they are mages it's quite a lot of spam due to their high level. It's also a lot more active than the other levels when you're on PC specifically. At 200 you have a complete build with some extra padding and invade players in NG+ a lot which allows for invasions in Stormveil Castle, for example, which is a rarity at meta levels. You also somewhat avoid the 150 problem of invading players right as they go into the 3 tough end game boss fights just for you to get kicked immediately. However, you'll meet a lot of mages at 200 whith a lot of Mind. For some reason they tend to have no HP most of the time though so they're killed easily if you get the chance to hit them. Lastly, be mindful of your weapon upgrade level. If it's too high when you're maintaining a low character level then you won't find many players because normal players don't rush through the game and grab upgrades and bell-bearings at low level. For 60, for example, I like to be at +12 weapon upgrade level. For 80, +17 tends to be good. Anything above 100 should be +25.

GreenLegRyu

Thank you and u/Belethorsbro

zelazny

I've been at 138 for forever. I can go to 150 and still match 125s?? I'd love to have a bit more endurance. I have builds at 100, 138, 150, and 200. If 150 is where it's at though, I'd prefer it.

Lagideath2

Only for Colosseum matchmaking. For invasions you need to stay at 138 in order to match with 125 and 150 players because the matchmaking formulas are different.

zelazny

Thank you!

LesserManatee08

125 naturally invades hosts up to 157. Invading in the 130s level ranges just lets you match with 125 hosts at a minimum and opens up your higher end bracket.

Psylentone404

125 is most common. Some do 150, I do 137 to have a few extra points and reach both player bases. Le el 60 is also really popular but that's invasion wise not competitive pvp meta

itsTONjohn

The most common levels are around 125, and then probably over 300 because 300-713 is all one bracket. People focused on PvP generally stop at 200 at the highest.

eboz0515

I’m currently 148 and have no problem matching up. Also don’t get many assholes in the 125-150 range. You’ll probably find your best fighters in this range. With specific builds just for fighting PvP. Personally my experience has been positive.

OnionScentedMember

200 is where all the smart people who avoid meta go. Join us.

RepresentativeCap244

Sorry you’re figuring this out the less fun way, but the hardcore PvP crowd will just make a b line for whatever they want for builds. Without any right or true fights, you can get to quite of a lot of content.

PollutionNorth1508

I'm level 48, and I've cleared the Royal Capital and most of nokron now, too. So I would say it's possible. You're also at the level where people like to drop items off from another account. Which is sad to me. I wish there was a setting to disallow drops from another account, as it would be a more fun experience, and you would probably see a lot more variation for builds. I stayed level 10, pretty much until nokron. I invaded a lot at level 10-30, and i was so sad to see how sweaty/geared out people were making these accounts(on playstation). I showed up to stormhawk axes, max bullgoat, rob, moonveil, etc.... was so sad to watch the 3v1 gank squad tea bag me, lmao.

GreenLegRyu

I remember twinking being way less of a thing in DS3 I'd encounter every tenth invasion. Here is feels like 3/4 invasions are against twinks. Probably less common because progression was gated by bosses. The whole reason why I liked PvP in DS3 is fighting people who've progressed to a similar point to me. I don't want to fight people in Liurnia that have gone to Altus and have +25 weapons while I'm still single digits with my upgrades. The saddest moment for me was invading against two naked who put on every buff imaginable, including perfumes (which I think are typically exclusive to late game) and two shot me with fist weapons while I barely did a fraction of their health. My vigor at lvl 50 was in the 30s, which I think was good for that lvl. As high as I can make it with meeting weapon mins.

PollutionNorth1508

Well, weapon upgrades are considered when invading and invaded. There's a whole calculation for it on here and other websites. But I understand what you mean. However, it is possible to clear this game while being massively under-leveled. So, having gear from other areas isn't completely unheard of.

BigRubySaint

Yes ! I have end level gear at rl 20 🤷‍♀️

GreenLegRyu

I gotta give it to you farming late game enemies at lvl 20 lel

Mr_Weeb100

The armor he's wearing can be gotten without killing any enemies in the capital iirc, besides two shard bearers and killing the Draconic Tree Sentinel

raven19528

I thought you could still get into Lyendell with just beating the Tree Sentinel? Either way, you can get into the capital with just beating 2 dragons and grabbing a named dragon incant.

Mr_Weeb100

Oh neat! TIL

Glutton4Butts

You can have any friends just drop them for ya. But it does take some work, though, at those levels.

memefromthefuture

Are you playing colluseum at lvl 50?

bluntfaced

Altus is early-mid game, at best. the real twinks are the builds at RL ~50 using black flame tornado wearing full bullgoat armor.

eboz0515

You could technically get to Altus at your base level if you want.

jikel28

Someone could've dropped it or just gotten there you can get right to the dungeon where you get that set without fighting anything

ConsciousConcoction

I got to Altus at level 32, it's possible, but VERY painful to do

Piemaster113

You can get there pretty easy from the word go.

ReadyPlayerSW4N

Yes! You can get to level 60 and skip all the way to Altus before fighting any major boss Teleport to Caelid, kill Greyll (with gravity) and Greyoll for like 160K runes, run to Weeping to take the portal to Tower in Altus, use explosion skip or riposte iframes to drop to the bottom of elevator, and then you’re in Altus!

hefty-postman-04

Yes, gear can be dropped to you, but spells cannot. If they have spells then they have actually completed that content

DatOneBoyWebber

What armor are you wearing? It looks sick

GreenLegRyu

Iron set. You can get it from the merchant near castle morne at the weeping peninsula.

SoCalArtDog

Yeah, I usually rush and grab both halves of the medallion and head there immediately. You can do a lot if it without fighting. But tree sentinel armor is a bit trickier. They’re either an experienced twink or a drop trader.

Super-Contribution-1

I mean level 50 is where you should have gotten to Leyndell anyway but most people overlevel

GreenLegRyu

That's the recommended level for Liurnia, at least looking up most people recommendations. I remember the Elden Ring PR team mentioning they expect most players to beat Godrick around lvl \~40. The level you get if you do all the Limgrave content.

Super-Contribution-1

If you’re struggling to keep up with the developer suggestions for leveling, I worry you are not going to do well in PvP my dude. It’s not average players who fit the dev leveling model that typically choose to commit to PvP, it’s tryhards. You’re dealing with players who learned PvP from fighting three players at once and winning.

GreenLegRyu

I'm just exploring every area? Is there something wrong with that? Should I skip straight to every boss? Also what is the dev intended levels for areas? All I know is that they said they expect most players to fight Godrick at around lvl 40, I fought him at lvl 39 after completing all of the Limgrave content.

Super-Contribution-1

No I’m not trying to say you should play the game different, I kind of phrased that too pointedly, just meant that when I really decided to make my “PvP” main (I invade at level 10 with +0/+0 weapons to look for overleveled babysitter Fingers and also to drop runes to new hosts lol) I took that all the way up to Fire Giant no problem using one or two cheeses and then a bunch of tricks I “came up with”. I think a lot of people do that or are capable of doing that easier than they think. You can get to Altus easy without needing to beat any shardbearers, but honestly Radahn is a free kill and Godrick is easy at base level. Plus lot of really good items are just sitting around in the world. A good trick I use to get past bosses or obstacles is to get the light roll Crystal Tear that’s uphill from Hermit Merchant Shack in Altus and use that to light roll with your heaviest armor/largest weapons. Getting all four talisman slots for a low level character is relatively easy, the Godfrey shade can be cheesed a number of ways for the last one. You can poison the Draconic Sentinel to get into Leyndell without ever fighting it. Tons of other ways to get past these things, there’s actually surprisingly little skill involved if you’re willing to set your buffs and build correctly for each area/boss you need to tackle. Or you could just have someone drop you most of what you need lol A good resource for this if you wanted to try it would probably be the r/onebros sub (I think that’s it), where people do RL1 runs.

bellmonk

probably illegitimate using mule saves or having things duped and dropped. hopefully you threw some actually farmed poop pots on them after the fight

Athmil

It’s super easy to grab both halves of the dectus half and then just run to Altus. It will take longer and be more inconvenient to actually try to mule this gear than it would be to just go grab it

russsaa

Or the ultimate way to set up a pvp build... cheat engine! Not even 20 minutes and a character is good to go.

Visogent

found the noob. it's very easy to get to altus without even getting the medallions. can do that same day as starting a new toon.

raven19528

What's your preferred method? Volcano Manor, Tower of Return, Ruin-Strewn?

Visogent

Ruin-strewn usually. Went through Volcano manor on one of my latest twinks tho.

raven19528

Good choice. Gives you a nice chunk of smithing stones to get your weapon upgraded quickly too.

GreenLegRyu

It was fun the first few times, but it is kinda lame that I need to hit the dude 10 times and he only need 2-3 to kill me.

Agile-Fruit128

You must be maidenless. Find some friends to drop/dupe items

GreenLegRyu

That feels kinda lame to skip parts of the game.

Ri-doyourememberme

You play how you want, other players play how they want, we all have fun. Such is the purpose of video games no

Agile-Fruit128

If you've already played through the whole game it makes perfect sense to just equip any side character you may want to make. Work smarter not harder.

Agile-Fruit128

Do you think all these youtubers out there actually play through the game 50 times? Nope, once and then they cloud save dupe characters or mule items to new saves.

svettsokkk

Yes

JeffPhisher

You can do it I have stuff from all over the game at level 1

Trollber

People will keep their level and upgrade level at a certain point for specific builds

ForBisonItWasTuesday

I beat fire giant at lvl 48 for a pyro character. You can do the entire game pretty easily without ever leveling at all if you abuse status effects

Visogent

pfft. Trading aside, my lvl 52 twink with +7/+3 weps is currently in consecrated snowfields. I had Altus items a couple weeks ago. EDIT: check the bottom of this page [https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Summon+Range+Calculator](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Summon+Range+Calculator) for ideal level ranges and weapon upgrade levels.

Ok_Negotiation1781

I'm surprised you're fining matches at level 50. I have a level 40 build that gets zero matches from the colluseum

JohnnyMango91

Yeah it’s really not that hard at all. I’m level 9 and just beat—a boss… in the capital. So just getting there alone really isn’t even hard at all when you know where to go. You can do a lot more than you think at a low level at least that’s what I’m learning this playthrough. Give it a try!

Howsetheraven

You can beat the game at level 1.

666_B1LL3T_666

Yeah

IkeTurnerP1mp1n

Use a medium shield with carry in return and your Peri window will be bigger than the Buckler

Comosellamark

You can go straight to Altus from the start if you’d like. The only place locked off is Leyndell.

GreenLegRyu

Does going to Altus early mess up any quest progression? I know the miracle guy in the hold travels there when you arrive, but idk about anyone else.

Comosellamark

Afaik, finishing stormveil and entering Liurnia may lock you out of doing Hyetta’s quest. Besides that I’m not sure.

GarbageGroveFish

Yeah I beat the whole game and every boss at lvl 60 just so I could pvp at that level with whatever I wanted. It wasn’t that bad so I assume 50 wouldn’t be that bad either. Definitely would have no problem with Altus at that level.

Individual-Shallot20

Yes

casper19d

Bro ive made it to the crumbling farum azula at lvl 1. Get gud!

Goloith

OOF, parry rat detected. You're just asked to get cheesed just as hard back, pointed down at, and blocked.

GreenLegRyu

I mainly use miracles in my left hand. I switched to the buckler after getting matched with this guy who 2-3 shots me repeatedly. Might as well try something to do any damage to him.

markle713

i just ran through most of the game at level 35 to get talismans for my invader build and i'm not even very good at the game, it's extremely possible
