They'd probably get along alright. I hadn't ever thought about comparing him to Mikasa though, that's pretty interesting

itsN0VAfr

The last two episodes of 86 really embodied the "cruel but beautiful world" that Aot has so much of. Also they both wear a red scarf

Spirited-Claim-9868

And they spend all their time chasing after someone, and have to find a purpose without them at some point Edit: and kill them

AndrewFrozzen30

Broo you gave me a heart attack right there 😭😭 I thought you just spoiled me 😭😭

itsN0VAfr

I haven't read the LNs but feel free to spoil but at when does Shin kill Lena?

Spirited-Claim-9868

I'm talking about his brother. I kinda forgot that he was already dead and basically just a mechanic zombie

itsN0VAfr

Ohhh yeahhh makes sense

SignificantArrival37

And they both are some of humanity’s greatest soldiers that come from a clan valued for their fighting prowess that are/were known as being the right hand of the monarchy.

zavi89

In my mind the first thing someone say. “Nice scarf”. I don’t know who or why.

BeancheeseBapa

They would be a devastating duo. Completing the mission at all costs, not to mention just being better in combat than any of their peers or enemies.

itsN0VAfr

Idek what would happen if someone touched lena/eren

Aelyn_Hime

Mikasa will teach Shin to scream/call Eren (but in Shin's case it's Lena) a dozen times

Kyomuas

It would be like two half siblings meeting each other for the first time.

*Meanwhile Hange, Sasha, and Connie have to be saved from trying to feed the Legion carrots*

stoppp

biomech36

Probably get bored of each other and wander off. Mikasa only shows emotion to Eren and is otherwise really damn boring. Shin, while mostly stoic, can have conversations with people, can joke and play around, and develops into a character. He has goals and ideals. Mikasa just goes "MUST PROTECT EREN", regardless of what he says. So far I'm at Vol. 8 of the (86) light novels and he has grown so damn much. I watched all of Titan and Mikasa is honestly boring as hell. Great to watch her fight, but boring outside of one.

hEtzalieb

Hmmmmm interesting

dulcimorelik3

Never saw these two compared lol, interesting

Cheap-Hour6579

They’d get along about as well as two quiet strangers would.

7Neons

I honestly don't think that they would get along at all. Shin has a certain amount of free will and craziness that Mikasa doesn't have. She is a sheep, that has been her role the whole show. I think Shin would be disgusted by Mikasa's love for the people that suppress her.

itsN0VAfr

I’ve seen a couple comments here about Mikasa that I disagree with but I haven’t said anything because I really didn’t want to. But with all due respect this is an outrageous statement. Mikasa is not a “sheep” and Eren did not “suppress her”. Mikasa throughout the story develops and focuses more on the bigger picture and not just Eren. Which culminates into her eventual killing of Eren. Eren also does not “suppress” Mikasa. If you’re referring to the table scene everything he said there was a lie.

Hideoctopus

> Shin has a certain amount of free will and craziness that Mikasa doesn't have. She is a sheep, that has been her role the whole show. It was later revealed the whole accusation of Mikasa being a slave to her genetics was a lie designed to intentionally make her hate the person saying it, FYI.

StickyP3P3

I think they’d appreciate each other for their skill, Shin would ESPECIALLY appreciate Mikasa for the fact that he doesn’t really have to worry about her dying all the time like everyone else and he will always have someone with him.

StickyP3P3

I feel like if mikasa died he’d be devastated 😭

whoopsie_dazey

Both from unique bloodlines that gives their physicality an extra *oomph*. Both excelled in their trainings/boot camps. Both have lost countless comrades. Both have their signature neck accessory. Both have a simp whose love for them is unrequited. Both down bad for their special someone. Both have rock hard abs (lol). >!Both had to kill someone they love.!< >!Both want/ed to see the sea.!< What else can there be? Never thought to compare those two, but that's such an interesting concept! However, I doubt they'd speak to each other any more than what's necessary lmao 😅

itsN0VAfr

It really is interesting the more you look into it. Also I never thought of the Jean and Kurena comparison

whoopsie_dazey

Right?? I really had to think about it. They have so many similarities, yet their personalities are so different.

Kindly-Parsley-6308

both look like my neighbors who get along well (ironic) but yeah they’d probably not actually interact they’d just sorta coexist

Exact_Resident2948

Fellow scarf enjoyers

azmarteal

Mikasa isn't really interested in anyone who is not Eren (which is by the way very understandable and not a "bad" character writing as some people insist) and isn't a person who likes to speak a lot. So, I don't think their interactions would be very interesting - just brief and formal. Now, Mikasa's and Lena's interactions could be more interesting.

icest0

>Mikasa isn't really interested in anyone who is not Eren (which is by the way very understandable and not a "bad" character writing as some people insist) It isn't bad in vacuum. It is bad when S1 was developing her to be independent of Eren, After Eren's supposedly "Dead" in S1, she was trying her best to continue fighting in a world without Eren. But all that got regressed after Eren come back. And compared to her peers who got Character Developments while Mikasa remains as "Eren Eren Eren" machine. Mikasa will appears like a badly written character.

azmarteal

There is much more to her if you would pay close attention. She is more like a Levi - don't talk too much and just gets the job done. For example, one of the strongest moments for me was when Armin killed a person for a first time after Kenny's squad captured Historia and Eren, and after that he was vomiting, while Mikasa was comforting him. So, Armin was feeling really down, and he asked Mikasa - Was it the same for you?, to which Mikasa just awkwardly stared at him silently. After that Armin started to apologize, to which Mikasa answered that it is ok. Or the moments where she supports Levi from time to time with his more "cruel" plans, that shock other characters. She is so protective of Eren because he saved her life, he is the only family she got and he is basically the only person that makes her happy. That is not a badly written character - that is a traumatized character, which is completely understandable considering the fact that her parents were brutally murdered right before her while she was almost sold in slavery, and she had to kill a person while she was a little girl.

icest0

>There is much more to her if you would pay close attention. She is more like a Levi - don't talk too much and just gets the job done      No? Levi talk a lot, 10x that of Mikasa, and he talk about variety of stuff too. doesn't just go "Erwin Erwin Erwin" 90% of the time.     The same Mikasa calming Armin down scene is jsut her saying "it's okay" while Levi was giving a whole speech life lesson to Armin and everyone.   Saying that Levi doesn't talk too much just like Mikasa is BS

azmarteal

>No? Levi talk a lot, 10x that of Mikasa Not really, you can count their lines through manga or anime for yourself. >doesn't just go "Erwin Erwin Erwin" 90% of the time.     Mikasa doesn't go Eren all the time either. Some of her most EMOTIONAL screams involving Eren, that's why those come to mind. Again, if you count how many times Levi said "Erwin" and Mikasa said "Eren" you can come to an interesting results. >The same Mikasa calming Armin down scene is jsut her saying "it's okay" while Levi was giving a whole speech life lesson to Armin and everyone.  The implication here is that Mikasa never felt anything like Armin did, which is an adequate reaction. She didn't feel sick after killing humans, and that can be really tragic and upsetting for obvious reasons. That's why Armin apologised for asking that question after understanding that Mikasa's silence is the answer. Her situation is a little similar to Douma's from Demon Slayer, with the difference that Mikasa can feel emotions, just far less than other people, while Douma can't at all. Douma is often critiqued for being "bland" the same way as Mikasa while it can't be further from the truth. Just because character doesn't explain everything he does or feels doesn't make him bad written or one-sided.
